Dianna L. Pierce
MAUGANSVILLE, Md. - Dianna Lynn Pierce, 27, of 14040 Village Mill, and formerly of Lonaconing, died Sunday, April 4, 1999, as a result of an automobile accident.
Born Feb. 22, 1972, in Luray, Va., she was the daughter of Roger Lee Pierce of Lonaconing, and Patricia Dianne Morlen Garlitz of Frostburg, Md. She was the stepdaughter of Mark Allen Garlitz.
She was a 1990 graduate of Valley High School in Lonaconing, and attended Vo-Tech.
She was employed by Colonial Restaurant and Motel in Hagerstown.
She attended Georges Creek Brethren Church in Lonaconing.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by one daughter, Sierra Lynn Pierce, at home; one sister, Holly Pierce; and one brother, Roger S. Pierce.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home in Lonaconing. The Rev. J. Richard Greene will officiate. Burial will be in Green cemetery in Lonaconing.
Friends will be received at the funeral home Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
James M. Copoulos
KEEDYSVILLE - James M. Copoulos, 73, of 87 S. Main St., died Monday, April 5, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born June 20, 1925, in Frederick, Md., he was the son of the late Michael E. and Bertha B. Speak Copoulos.
His wife, Betty Covell Copoulos, died in 1992.
He was employed by Green Tree Services at Maryland Correctional Institution in Hagerstown; and formerly by AFW Welding in Frederick and Town Center Sub and Pizza in Boonsboro.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Army in North Africa. He received a Purple Heart.
He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Keedysville.
He was a member of Dixon-Troxell Post 212 American Legion in Funkstown, and Keedysville Ruritan Club.
He is survived by one daughter, Teresa O. Copoulos of Keedysville; one son, Stephen Copoulos of Keedysville; three sisters, Athena Roche of Baltimore, Christina Panagakos of Randallstown, Md., and Frances Myers of Owings Mills, Md.; one brother, John Copoulos of Ellicott City, Md.; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Michael Copoulos.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Kenneth J. Fizer Jr. will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Linden Hill cemetery in Frederick.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Floyd T. Shoemaker
HANCOCK - Floyd Thornton Shoemaker, 77, of Maple Ridge Road, died Saturday, April 3, 1999, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born May 21, 1921, at Millstone, Md., he was the son of the late Thornton J. and Leathie L. Hull Shoemaker.
He retired as a carpenter after 23 years with the National Park Service.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in World War II in the Normandy and Central Europe campaigns. He received the Purple Heart.
He was a Protestant.
He was a member of Webster B. Harrison Post 26 American Legion, Hancock; DAV Chapter 14 Ralph S. Tagg; William D. Byron V.F.W. Post 1936 of Hagerstown; Military Order of The Purple Heart, 79th Division, 314th Infantry Association of WWII.
He is survived by his wife, Mae E. Myers Shoemaker, whom he married
in 1947; three daughters, Mary Darlene Largent of Hagerstown, Pamela Estalee Johnson of Mercersburg, Pa., and Brenda Charmaine Jones of Chesterfield, Va.; one son, John Roy Shoemaker of Three Springs, Pa.; one sister, Virgie Cain of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; one brother, David F. Shoemaker of Berkeley Springs; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Ira Shoemaker.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock. The Rev. Dennis Whitmore will officiate. Burial will be in Stone Bridge Brethren Cemetery, Hollow Road, Hancock, with military honors by Tri-State Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open from noon.

Roscoe B. Carr
Roscoe B. Carr, 79, of 12010 Scottish Court, Hagerstown, died Sunday, April 4, 1999, at his home.
Born Oct. 30, 1919, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Raymond and Grace Pittinger Carr.
He was retired from Reisner Products, Inc., Hagerstown.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served in World War II.
He was a member of World Wide Church of God, Chewsville.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret E. DeLauter Carr; three daughters, Dorothy Jean Garthwaite of Tampa, Fla., Betty M. Hebb and Constance S. Bingaman, both of Greencastle. Pa.; two stepdaughters, Reginia Keefer of Hagerstown and Jane Hayes of Lakeland, Fla.; one sister, Dorothy Crider of Smithsburg; nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, five step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg. The Rev. Gregory L. Reynolds will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
There will be no viewing.

Mary J. Morrison
BALTIMORE, Md. - Mary Jane Morrison, 95, of 3799 Juniper Road, Baltimore, died Friday, April 2, 1999, at her home.
Born Sept. 16, 1903, in Mercersburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late William E. and Lillie Bosserman Selser.
She was a graduate of Church Home School of Nursing of Baltimore.
She was a member of Mercersburg Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Samuel Morrison; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Marian Myers and Mabel Griffith; and two brothers, Edward Selser and William Selser.
Graveside memorial services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg. The Rev. Michael K. Miller will officiate.

Olive E. Powell
Olive Elizabeth Powell, 97, of 11004 Coffman Avenue, Hagerstown, died Friday, April 2, 1999, at her home.
Born July 12, 1901, in Point Mills, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Mary Sedler Hermann.
She was a graduate of West Liberty Teachers College, West Liberty, W.Va.
She taught at various local elementary schools in Washington County.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Williamsport.
She was a member of Halfway Homemakers Club.
She is survived by her husband, J. Lewis Powell; one daughter, Esther Powell Porter of Lansdowne, Va.; one son, David H. Powell of Hagerstown; two granddaughter, and two great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary K. Powell and one granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. W. Gregory Martin will officiate. Burial will be Wednesday in West Alexander Cemetery, West Alexander, Pa., where a graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. The Rev. Jay McMillen will officiate.
The family will receive friends Tuesday immediately following the service.
