Marlin H. Thurmond
INDIALANTIC, Fla. - Marlin H. Thurmond, 90, of Indialantic, died Tuesday, March 2, 1999, at Holmes Regional Nursing Center, Melbourne, Fla.
He was born March 21, 1908, in Hagerstown.
He was an electrical engineer for 40 years with Allegany Power Systems in Allegany, N.Y. He retired in 1972.
He was a member of Christ Reform Church in Hagerstown.
He was a member of Maryland State Guard; and Hospice of Hagerstown.
He is survived by his wife, Alberta Jane Thurmond; a daughter, Mary Jane DeLauder of Randolph, N.J.; a son, Marlin Stafford Thurmond of Indialantic; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
There will be a private cremation.
There will be no visitation.

Eugene C. Pfeffer
Eugene C. Pfeffer, 67, of 908 W. Irvin Ave., Hagerstown, died Tuesday, March 2, 1999, at his home.
Born Aug. 23, 1931, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Herman J. and Catherine M. Helm Pfeffer.
He was employed by Baker and Wiberley for 23 years. He also was employed by Fairchild Aircraft in Hagerstown; and Bell Helicopter in Fort Worth, Texas.
He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church.
He was a member of Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Marie A. Pfeffer; a sister, Carolyn Davis of Rochester, N.Y.; a brother, Kenneth R. Pfeffer of Baltimore; seven nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Johnson Funeral Home, 8521 Loch Raven Blvd., Baltimore. The Rev. Michael Jendrick will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Baltimore.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd., Hagerstown.

Elizabeth R. Weatherholt
CUMBERLAND, Md. - Elizabeth "Betty" Rees Fisher Weatherholt, 84, of Cumberland, died Tuesday, March 2, 1999, at Memorial Hospital in Cumberland.
Born April 23, 1914, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Allan C. and Ella Rees Fisher.
She was preceded in death by her husband, F. Allan Weatherholt Sr., in 1995.
She was a graduate of Catherman's Business School.
She previously worked at Ali Ghan Shrine Club as assistant manager of the restaurant. She also had worked as an operator for C & P Telephone Co.
She was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, was past president of the Episcopal Church Women, a member of St. Margaret's Circle and the Altar Ward.
She also belonged to Women's Civic Club.
She is survived by two sons, the Rev. F. Allan Weatherholt of Hancock and Robert M. Weatherholt of Cumberland; and five grandchildren, David Weatherholt and Stephen Weatherholt, both of Hancock, Robert Weatherholt and Arthur Mason Weatherholt, both of Cumberland, and Melissa Saville of Romney, Md.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Allan C. Fisher Jr.
Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 16 Washington St., Cumberland. The Rev. Edward C. Chapman, assisted by Steven L. McCarty, will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the church.

Sylvia F. Kurtz
WILLIAMSPORT - Sylvia F. Kurtz, 86, of 16505 Virginia Ave., died Monday, March 1, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Oct. 18, 1912, in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Bertha Seidel Frankel.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert L. Kurtz, in 1973.
She and her husband, owned and operated Kings for Men Clothing Store, Rock Hill, S.C.
She was a member of Temple Israel, Charlotte, N.C. She was a member and held offices in the Hadassah.
She is survived by two sons, Richard O. Kurtz of Hagerstown and John C. Kurtz of Lancaster, S.C.; a sister, Jennette Leshner of West Hartford, Conn.; and a grandson.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Frankel.
Graveside services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Hebrew Cemetery, Charlotte. Rabbi Murray Ezzrine will officiate.

James M. Mumma Sr.
WARREN, R.I. - James M. Mumma Sr., 84, of 170 Child St., died Monday, Feb. 22, 1999, at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence, R.I.
Born in Lydia, Md., he was the son of the late William S. and Florence Ensminger Mumma.
He was a truck driver for the former Specktor Freight System in Seekonk, Mass., until he retired in 1977.
A veteran of World War II, he served 10 years in the U.S. Navy and two years in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Teamsters Local 251; and a 50 year member of Washington Lodge 3 of the Masons in Warren.
He is survived by his wife, Janice E. Drown Mumma; a daughter, Valerie E. Lunney of Atlanta; a son, James M. Mumma Jr.; and four sisters, Lena Moats of Belen, N.M., Bernice Dockter of Maugansville, Rosalie Childress of Maitland, Fla., and Ardath Mullendore of Smithsburg.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Feb. 27, at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Warren.
Burial will be private.
