Brian T. Hull
Brian Thomas Hull, 30, of 9629 Garis Shop Road, Hagerstown, died Tuesday, March 2, 1999, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Born Nov. 24, 1968, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Thomas Franklin Hull of Frederick, Md., and Rebecca A. Welsh Hull of Hagerstown.
He was a 1986 graduate of Williamsport High School.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Boonsboro.
He was a member of Conococheague Tribe 84 IORed Men of Williamsport and the Halfway Softball League.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Jennifer L. Suffecool Hull; his stepfather, Robert L. Rosenberry of Hagerstown; and his maternal grandmother, Hazel V. Welsh of Boonsboro.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Harry and Doris Hull; maternal grandfather, Juness Welsh; and an uncle.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Joseph I. Donovan III will officiate. Burial will be in Boonsboro cemetery with military honors by Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion in Hagerstown.
Friends may call today after noon at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
Vivian O. Collins
BOONSBORO - Vivian Oneida Collins, 76, of Reeders Nursing Home, and formerly of Towson, Md., died Saturday, Feb. 27, 1999, at Reeders Nursing Home.
Born Feb. 19, 1923, in Hampstead, Md., she was the daughter of the late William Raymond and Bessie Seaks Burke.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Albert Wille, in 1960.
She was a telephone operator with C&P Telephone Co. of Maryland for 25 years. Later, she was a traveling nursing assistant with Home Care in Baltimore County.
She was of the Methodist faith.
She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Ann Bolland of Boonsboro; and three grandchildren, Timothy Frank Bolland, Carl Eugene Bolland and Glenn Scott Bolland, all of Boonsboro.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Burke.
There was no visitation or service, as it was her request to donate her body to The Anatomy Board of Maryland.
Robert L. Funk
SMITHSBURG - Robert L. Funk, 83, of Jefferson Boulevard, died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born April 5, 1915, in Chewsville, Md., he was the son of the late Elvin and Bessie Hartle Funk.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie B. Hill Funk, in 1996.
He was a graduate of Smithsburg High School.
He farmed in the Smithsburg area until 1968; and was employed by Pangborn Corp. in Hagerstown, retiring in 1980.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, with duty in Italy.
He was a member of Christ United Church of Christ, Cavetown.
He was a member of Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion, Hagerstown; Williamsport Red Men Lodge 84; Sunshine Leisure Club, Smithsburg; and AARP.
He is survived by a son, Stephen R. Funk of Smithsburg; and cousins.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg. The Rev. Ron E. Kauffman will officiate. Burial will be in Beaver Creek Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Dorothy J. Cross
Dorothy Jean Cross, 66, of 16934 Strawberry Knoll, Hagerstown, died Thursday, March 4, 1999, at her home.
Born March 9, 1932, in Turrell, Ark., she was the daughter of the late Nolan R. Sr. and Gladys I. Wilkerson Bardwell.
She was a former employee of Fairchild Aircraft.
She was a member of AARP.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Joseph Wendell Cross; two sons, Michael E. Cross of Charles Town, W.Va., and Dennis W. Cross of Hagerstown; two sisters, Martha Mae Wilson of Marion Station, Md., and Betty Jo Walker of Christmas, Fla.; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Eugene Bardwell and Nolan R. Bardwell.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. Pastor Bill L. Clark will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Marie H. Athey
BOONSBORO - Marie Hutzell Athey, 82, of Reeders Memorial Home, 141 S. Main St., died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born April 15, 1916, in Boonsboro, she was the daughter of the late Russell L. and Clara Smith Hutzell.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Elwood Athey, in 1975.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Boonsboro.
She is survived by a brother, Clifford L. Hutzell of Boonsboro; five grandchildren, John T. Hane Jr. and Steven M. Hane, both of Frederick, Md., Jeffrey L. Hane of Honolulu, Curtis B. Hane of Bethesda, Md., and Lisa M. Ash of Berlin, Md.; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Hane; two sisters, Ethel I. Hutzell and Vera K. Hutzell; and a brother, Merle Hutzell.
Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. John W. Zsittnik will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery in Keedysville.

Mary E. Reid
CLEAR SPRING - Mary Elizabeth Reid, 83, of 13659 Clear Spring Road, died Thursday, March 4, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born July 5, 1915, in Big Spring, Md., she was the daughter of the late Virgie Amelia and John Rudolph Hart.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Cyrus Reid, in 1987.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church of Clear Spring.
She was a member of Clear Spring Historical Society.
She is survived by four daughters, Elizabeth A. Miles and Lolita M. Divelbiss, both of Clear Spring, Roselyn M. Welch of Hagerstown and Faye L. Hose of Williamsport; four sons, Maurice L. Reid of Hagerstown, Donald L. Reid and Roy A. Reid, both of Clear Spring, and Earl B. Reid of Sharpsburg; a sister, Hazel Starliper of Clear Spring; four brothers, Frederick Ray Hart and Charles Hart, both of Clear Spring, Jack L. Hart and Tommy Hart, both of Hagerstown; 22 grandchildren; three step grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a son, Paul Eugene Reid; sisters and brothers.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home, 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring. The Revs. Elaine Prince and Dennis Whitmore will officiate. Burial will be in Shanktown cemetery in Big Pool, Md.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
