Alice M. Roelke
Alice Miller Roelke, 91, of Hagerstown, died Thursday, March 4, 1999, at Coffman Nursing Home.
Born March 23, 1907, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Heller and Elizabeth Logan Baker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. Roelke, in 1980.
She was a member of Christ's Reformed Church and the Willing Workers Sunday School Class.
She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Mougey of Beltsville, Md.; a son, Charles R. Roelke Jr. of St. James Village, Md.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia B. Caruthers and Mary Knode; and two brothers, Clarence S. Baker and Logan Baker.
Services and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Christ's Reformed Church, 130 W. Franklin St., Hagerstown, MD 21740; or to a charity of one's choice.
Catherine E. Shank
Catherine Elizabeth Shank, 84, of 341 Radcliffe Ave., Hagerstown, died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, at Williamsport Nursing Home in Williamsport.
Born Sept. 28, 1914, in Frostown, Md., she was the daughter of the late John Emory and Cora Emiline Easterday O'Neal.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Vincent Shank, in 1977.
She was employed by E.J. Fennel for 26 years, retiring in 1976; and previously was employed by Fairchild Industries.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Middletown, Md.
She is survived by nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Esther Naugle; and four brothers, Albert O'Neal, Rosco O'Neal, Ralph O'Neal and Fred O'Neal.
Services will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Donald Turley will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Catharine H. Kline
Catharine Horst Kline, 85, of 19105 Longmeadow Road, Hagerstown, died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, at Homewood Nursing Home in Williamsport.
Born Aug. 6, 1913, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Clara Schindel Petre.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy F. Kline.
She was a member of Hagerstown Church of the Brethren in Hagerstown.
She was a volunteer at Western Maryland Center in Hagerstown.
She is survived by a son, Donald L. Kline of Arlington, Va.; two brothers, Ira Petre of Pennsylvania and Russell Petre of Hagerstown; a granddaughter and a grandson.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Dean M. Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Norman G. Jamison
SHARPSBURG - Norman Garrett Jamison, 80, of Avalon Manor Nursing Home, and formerly of 116 E. Antietam St., died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born June 27, 1918, near Sharpsburg, he was the son of the late Harry Peyton and Martha Jamison Grove.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Lee Jamison, in 1974.
He was retired from Certain-Teed Products Corp.
He is survived by a daughter, Norma Jean Jones of Hagerstown; and a grandson, Larry E. Dorsey of Hagerstown.
There will be no services or visitation. Burial will be private.
The family requests the omission of flowers.

Virginia E. Stonebraker
LACEY'S SPRING, Ala. - Virginia Elizabeth Stonebraker, 78, of Lacey's Spring, died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, at Huntsville Hospital Main, Huntsville, Ala.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Retired Maj. Henry Dalby Stonebraker.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary R. Haggerty of Rockford, Ill.; three sons, Jay D. Stonebraker of Arab, Ala., John M. Stonebraker of San Diego and Cary P. Stonebraker of Huntsville; seven sisters, M. Lorraine Ebersole of Clear Spring, Thelma M. Overholzer of Greencastle, Pa., Lois L. Helman of Maugansville, Janice I. McDaniel of Chambersburg, Pa., Lillian L. Bartles, A. Elaine Lewis and Patricia Michael, all of Hagerstown; and two brothers, Paul L. McNamee and Lindy E. McNamee, both of Hagerstown.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mahala Jane McNamee; and three brothers, William E. McNamee, Samuel A. McNamee and Charles C. McNamee.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
Mary E. Buis
BOONSBORO - Mary Elizabeth Buis, 85, of 6010 Clevelandtown Road, died Friday, March 5, 1999, at Ravenwood Lutheran Village, Hagerstown.
Born May 6, 1913, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Earle H. and Effie J. La Vern Harding.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Burl O. Buis, in 1988.
She was employed by Kroger Grocery Store for 30 years, retiring in 1973.
She attended Church of Christ.
She was a member of Gerrardstown, W.Va. Homemakers Club.
She is survived by two daughters, Beverly Jean Clavert of Tulsa, Okla., and Bonita Jeannette Pickett of Boonsboro; a son, Thomas Wayne Buis of Plainfield, Ind.; a brother, John F. Harding of Monrovia, Md.; nine grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Lee Herrman; and a brother, Francis L. Harding.
Services will be Monday at 9 a.m. in the chapel of Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. Richard McGough will officiate. Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery, Boonsboro.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Owen L. Widdows
Owen Leroy "Bootie" Widdows, 87, of 219 Calvert Terrace, Hagerstown, died Thursday, March 4, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Nov. 28, 1911, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Roy F. and Katie Ridenour Widdows.
He was employed as a foreman for Marquette Cement Co. for 35 years.
He was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church.
He was a charter member of North American Rod and Gun Club.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mabel W. Widdows; a sister, Helen Chaney of Hagerstown; a brother, Clarence "Teeny" Widdows of Downsville, Md.; and six nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathryn R. Widdows.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd., North, Hagerstown. The Rev. Lauren Heather Lay will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends Monday from 10:30 to 11 a.m. before the services at the funeral home.
