Samuel R. Moore
SMITHSBURG - Samuel Richard Moore, 70, of 62 Stanley Hauver Drive, died Tuesday, March 9, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Jan. 9, 1929, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Thomas Wayne Moore and Sarah M. Bere Moore Hammond.
He retired in 1991, having been employed by Fairchild Aircraft of Hagerstown; Electric Boat Division of General Dynamics in Groton, Conn.; and Grove Manufacturing of Shady Grove, Pa.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, L. Constance Moore; three daughters, Deborah Whaley of Mechanicsburg, Pa., Colleen Garringer of Mystic, Conn., and Jodi Tyler of Sabillasville, Md.; a sister, Kirby Hendrickson of York, Pa.; a half sister, Linda Knight of Dargan; two half brothers, Frank Hammond and Gary Hammond, both of Sharpsburg; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Alan M. Greijack will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday at noon at the funeral home.
Alison M. Kline
WALDORF, Md. - Alison Marie Kline, 21, of 5922 Michael Road, died Saturday, March 6, 1999, at Children's Hospital in Washington, D.C. She had cystic fibrosis.
Born March 12, 1977, in Waynesboro, Pa., she was the daughter of Franklin E. Kline of Waynesboro and Lily Rebecca Dom Berry of Waldorf.
She was a 1996 graduate of Thomas Stone High School.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by maternal grandparents, Walter F. and Joan C. Colflesh Dom of Bunker Hill, W.Va.; paternal grandfather, Richard A. Kline Sr. of Waynesboro; maternal great-grandparents, George and Mary Jane Smith Dom of Clear Spring; aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Jane L. Keckler Kline in 1995; and her aunt, Deborah Sue Kline in 1977.
Services will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. Pastor Walter A. Stuart will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church, 2671 Mattawoman-Beantown Road, Waldorf; and Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Laura B. Cox
LOVELAND, Colo. - Laura Belle Cox, 89, of Loveland, and Fort Dodge, Iowa, died Monday, March 8, 1999, at Columbine Care Center West, in Fort Collins, Colo.
Born Feb. 2, 1910, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Harry W. and Lula Mae Eakle Kaylor.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Alexander Cox Sr, in 1988.
She was a graduate of St. Hilda's Hall, Charles Town, W.Va.; and Beaver College, Jenkentown, Pa., with a bachelor of arts degree.
She worked as a clerk in the Washington County Court Office in Hagerstown. She was a census taker for the U.S. Government.
She was a member of Mountain View Presbyterian Church.
She was a member of Quester's Club.
She is survived by two sons, James A. Cox Jr. of Loveland and Robert Corson Cox III of Overland Park, Kan.; two sisters, Jeanette Byler Rutledge of Hagerstown and Helen Louise Bowie of Baltimore; three grandsons; nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Mountain View Presbyterian Church, 2500 N. Garfield, Loveland. The Rev. Robert Dooling will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain View Presbyterian Church Columbarium.

Maynard L. Jones
BOONSBORO - Maynard Lee "Tom" Jones, 85, of 332 N. Main St., and formerly of Kemps Mill, died Tuesday, March 9, 1999, at Western Maryland Hospital Center in Hagerstown.
Born July 12, 1913, in Tilghmanton, he was the son of the late John H. and Irene Mae Mongan Jones.
He was a retired employee of Marquette Cement Co. in Hagerstown.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Mount Calvary Church of God in Clear Spring.
He is survived by four sisters, Evelyn Byers of Williamsport, Mildred Easterday of Boonsboro, Betty Jane Garrish of Williamsport and Freda Dayton of Fairplay; a brother, Edgar "Bob" Jones of Sharpsburg; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, John E. Jones, Richard Jones, Eugene Jones and William Jones.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Robert E. Timmons will officiate. Burial will be in Manor Cemetery, Tilghmanton.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Lula Edna McCarty
CLEAR SPRING - Lula Edna McCarty, 93, of 29 N. Mill St., died Monday, March 8, 1999, at her home.
Born Oct. 6, 1905, in Clear Spring, she was the daughter of the late Susan and Jerimiah Wiley.
Her husband, Boyd McCarty, died in 1995.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Joseph C. Herbert American Legion Post 222 Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by four daughters, Helen Somers, Ruby Rudisill, Mary Shenebeck and Betty Dundus, all of Hagerstown; three sons, James McCarty and Robert L. McCarty, both of Clear Spring, and John B. McCarty of Tampa, Fla.; one grandson, whom she raised, Timothy T. McCarty, at home; 26 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Wilbur A. McCarty; three sisters and one brother.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Donald E. Thompson Funeral Home, 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring. The Revs. John Rudisill Jr. and Richard Simpson will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Clear Spring.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Garret W. Clowser
PLANO, Texas - Garret W. Clowser, 58, of Plano, died of complications of pulmonary fibrosis on Sunday, March 7, 1999.
He was born July 28, 1940, in Covington, Va.
He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1977; He was most recently employed in the restaurant industry.
He is survived by Rhonda Steele of Plano; two daughters, Sheree Glynn of Michigan and Joy Lynn Scott of Indiana; and one uncle.
