Betty J. Marshall
FUNKSTOWN, Md. - Betty Jane Marshall, 71, of 43 Frederick Road, died Thursday, March 11, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Dec. 30, 1927, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Harry Mills and the late Mildred Hamburg Cramer.
She was a member of Evangel Baptist Church.
She was a member of Women of the Moose and Funkstown American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband, Walter "Buddy" Marshall; two daughters, Cynthia Keifer and Barbara Stevenson, both of Hagerstown; a son, Jeffrey Wayne Marshall of Funkstown; a sister, Sarah Mills of Chambersburg, Pa.; two brothers, Michael Mills of Hagerstown and Charles Cramer of Kingsville, Texas; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Ernest Thompson will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Edwin G. Reus
BOONSBORO - Edwin George Reus, 86, a resident of Fahrney-Keedy Home, 8507 Mapleville Road, and formerly of Bethesda, Md., and Rockville, Md., died Friday, March 12, 1999, at the home.
Born March 22, 1912, in Malden, Mass., he was the son of the late Edwin Augustus Reus and Viola Pickney Barber Reus Carrick.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Virginia Faxon Tastet Reus, in 1991.
He retired in 1969 after 42 years as a budget analyst for the Department of Defense.
He was of the Methodist faith.
He was a member of the local Square and Round Dance Club and Appalachian Hikers.
He is survived by a daughter, Carolyn S. Hugueley of Darnestown, Md.; a son, James D. Reus of Boonsboro; a sister, Eleanor Rosenberg of Frederick, Md.; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Memorial services will be private at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are by Bast Funeral Home, Boonsboro.
Ruth S. Munson
Ruth Shields Munson, 80, of 11011 Coffman Ave., Hagerstown, died Thursday, March 11, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Aug. 29, 1918, in St. Thomas, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Samuel E. and Daisy Ellen Bivens.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Munson Sr.
She was a graduate of St. Thomas High School.
She had been employed with Fairchild Aircraft and had retired from Eyerly's/Bon-Ton after 37 years of service.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Christian Women's Association.
She is survived by two daughters, Sue Munson of Hagerstown and Rhonda Munson of Williamsport; two sisters, Sarah F. Shields of York, Pa., and Gladys Shields of Chambersburg, Pa.; three grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and a longtime friend, Cliff Ommert.
She was preceded in death by a son, Robert E. Munson Jr.
Services will be Monday at 3:30 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. David M. Buchenroth will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ruth I. Mellott
Ruth Irene Mellott, 75, of 11 W. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, died Thursday, March 11, 1999, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.
Born Sept. 10, 1923, in Sharpsburg, she was the daughter of the late Robert Emory and Lois Blanche Shifflett Shafer Murray.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Valley Grace Brethren Church in Halfway.
She is survived by her husband, Albert L. Mellott, whom she married
Dec. 23, 1940; two daughters, Devona I. Kerns of Williamsport and Lois A. Baker of Clear Spring; one son, Albert Eugene Mellott of Hagerstown; two brothers, Robert E. Shafer and Gordon Shafer, both of Hagerstown; two grandsons; three great-granddaughters; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Raymond Murray.
Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The Rev. Donnie Cardwell will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport.
Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral home will be open after 9 a.m. Sunday for the convenience of family and friends.

Glenice A. Ditto
Glenice Ardell Ditto, 73, of 19011 Orchard Terrace Road, Hagerstown, died Thursday, March 11, 1999, at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore.
Born July 5, 1925, in Milton, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Carleton May and Glennie Ardell Allen Allen.
She was a 1947 graduate of Hood College with a degree in Early Childhood Education.
She taught school in Philadelphia and worked in Settlement House in Massachusetts. She also worked with her husband in his medical practice.
She was a member of Christ's Reformed Church.
She was a member of AAUW; Hagerstown Hood College Club; past president of Washington County Medical Auxiliary; Medical Society Alliance; Garden Club; Singer Society of Washington County Museum; she served on the Board of Western Maryland Hospital; past president of Washington County Hospital Auxiliary; Fountain Head Country Club; Board of directors of Community Concert; and a supporter of the Maryland Symphony.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Edward W. Ditto III; a daughter, Betsy T. Lillard of Clear Spring; two sons, Dr. Allen W. Ditto of Hagerstown and David C. Ditto of Hedgesville, W.Va.; a brother, Curtis C. Allen of Yarmouth, Maine; and six grandchildren.
Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Christ's Reformed Church, 130 W. Franklin St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Don R. Stevenson will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Hester L. Wilson
Hester L. "Petie" Wilson, 82, of 335 Jefferson St., Hagerstown, died Friday, March 12, 1999, at her home.
Born Feb. 10, 1917, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Franklin and Emma Elizabeth Shepley Forsyth.
She owned and operated Round Up Tavern. Prior to that she owned and operated Wilson's Restaurant.
She was of the Protestant faith.
She was a member of Ladies Auxiliary of Williamsport American Legion Post 202.
She is survived by a son, Jerry H. Wilson of Hagerstown; two sisters, Catherine E. Stine of Boonsboro and Clover R. Stringfellow of Elkton, Va.; and a brother, Maurice E. Forsyth of Boonsboro.
She was preceded in death by four sisters and five brothers.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
