R. Allard Stallknecht
BOONSBORO - R. Allard "Al" Stallknecht, 92, of 8507 Mapleville Road, died Wednesday, March 17, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Aug. 1, 1906, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Raymond A. and Clara Allard Stallknecht.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Henrietta E. Roebuck Stallknecht, who died in 1997.
He was retired from Wright-Gardner Insurance in 1976 as president.
He was a member of Haven Lutheran Church, where he served several terms on the church council, was a lay reader and taught Sunday School. He was an associate member of Fahrney-Keedy Memorial Chapel, where he was an active choir member and where he served as a Fahrney-Keedy volunteer.
He was a member of Downtown Kiwanis, where he served as past president and past lieutenant governor, was a lifetime member and received the Member of Legion honor.
He was a former member and served on the board of directors and was campaign chairman for United Way. He was also a member and former director of the board of governors at Fountain Head Country Club, a member of the Doric Lodge, A.F. & F.M. Masonic Lodge 124, Baltimore, a 32 degree (Scottish Rite), P.M.C.B. Himor Chapter, Order of DeMolay and received the Legion of Honor, Order of DeMolay.
He is survived by one nephew, Charles Roebuck of Baltimore; and several cousins.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Haven Lutheran Church. The Rev. Torben G. Aarsand and the Rev. Ray E. Blanset will officiate. Graveside services will be held in Parkwood cemetery at 2 p.m.
Visitation will be today from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac Street, Hagerstown.
Vickie P. Green
Vickie P. Green, 46, of 1311 Lindsay Lane, Hagerstown, died Monday, March 21, 1999, at her home.
Born April 19, 1952, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of Laura Norton Peyton of Hagerstown and the late Floyd M. Peyton.
She retired from the Montgomery County Public School System after 27 years as records management supervisor.
She was a member of Clifton Park Baptist Church, Silver Spring, Md.
She was a member of the National Clown Association and since 1976 was a professional clown known as "Bubbles."
She was a member of Little Heiskel Ski Club, Hagerstown.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Michael V. Green; one daughter, Laura J. Knepper of Williamsport; one brother, Mel Peyton of Trabuco Canyon, Calif.; and a granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Jane Peyton.
A memorial service will be held today at 8 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Anna Bellechilders will officiate.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Gloria L. Tosten
Gloria Lee Tosten, 71, of 312 Woodpoint Ave., died Sunday, March 21, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born May 7, 1927, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late George Lee and Margaret Marie Miller Pickett.
She was a member of Christ's Reformed Church UCC.
She is survived by her husband, Glenn Edward Tosten; one daughter, Gloria D. Smith, of Boonsboro; one son, Glenn L. Tosten of Millington, Md.; two sisters, Carolyn M. Eichelberger and Phyllis A. Lushbaugh, both of Hagerstown; four grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Pearlina Routzahn; and a brother, Thomas E. Pickett.
Services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Don R. Stevenson will officiate. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Cemetery, Thurmont, Md.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Lowell S. Murray
Lowell S. Murray, 75, of Hagerstown, died Sunday, March 21, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Jan. 7, 1924, in Big Pool, he was the son of the late Rev. William F. and Bessie L. Miller Murray.
He graduated from Clear Spring High School.
He had been employed at M.P. Moller, Victor Products and Fairchild. He was self-employed for 53 years with Lowell S. Murray's Tax Service and did holiday displays.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
He was a member of BPO Elks 378 of Hagerstown.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Kathleen E. Bloyer Murray; one son, Randy L. Murray of Hagerstown; two sisters, Genevieve Jenkins and Connie Jenkins, both of Baltimore; five brothers, Homer E. Murray, William E. Murray, Edgar A. Murray and James C. Murray, all of Hagerstown, and the Rev. Bennett G. Murray of Clear Spring; two granddaughters, and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Charlotte Tucker; and a brother, Stanley Murray.
Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, Winter and Church streets, Hagerstown. The Revs. Robert S. Barton, Darryl Zoller, and Bennett G. Murray will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.

Horace C. B. McClelland
Horace C. B. "Lefty" McClelland, 77, of 50 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown, died Sunday, March 21, 1999, at his home.
Born Nov. 23, 1921, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Norman Ralph Sr., and Helen Leona Brenner McClelland.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was of the Lutheran faith.
He was employed as a carpenter with the Carpenters Union.
He was a member of Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion; Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 694; United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America Local 340; and AARP.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Virginia M. Pingley McClelland; one niece and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by a brother, N. Ralph McClelland Jr.
Services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Eddie Blackmon will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven cemetery with military honors by Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion.

Laura M. Whitmer
BOONSBORO - Laura M. Whitmer, 94, formerly of 320 West Side Ave., Hagerstown, died Sunday, March 21 at Reeder Memorial Home, Boonsboro.
Born April 6, 1904, she was the daughter of the late John L. and Daisy D. Zimmerman Gearhart.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melville Grant Whitmer, in 1966.
She retired from Rosen's Department Store.
She is survived by five sisters, Ruth E. Funkhouser of Cascade, Hilda I. Draper and Helen P. Manious, both of Hagerstown, Catherine L. Gourley of Waynesboro, Pa., and Evelyn L. Stolz of St. Louis.
She was preceded in death by one son, M.G. Whitmer Jr.
Services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Darryl C. Zoller will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Western Pike.
