Vivian A. Schmidt
BOONSBORO - Vivian Adele Schmidt, 80, of 141 S. Main St., and formerly of Omaha, Neb., and Mesa, Ariz., died Friday, March 19, 1999, at Reeders Memorial Home in Boonsboro.
Born Nov. 5, 1918, in Garrison, Neb., she was the daughter of the late Forest L. and Ivalu Longstreth Stone.
Her husband, Boyd Leonard Schmidt, died in 1991.
She was a self-employed seamstress.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda L. Iseminger of Keedysville and Kathleen L. Cline of San Diego; two sons, Thomas L. Schmidt of Reno, Nev., and Dale L. Schmidt of Mesa; four brothers, Rollin Stone and F. Jack Stone, both of Phoenix, Kenneth Stone of Cottonwood, Ariz., and Lawrence Stone of Parachute, Colo.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Brownsville Church of the Brethren. The Rev. R. Thomas Fralin Jr. and the Rev. David Iseminger will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
There will be no viewing or visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Brownsville Church of the Brethren, 1911 Rohrersville Road, Brownsville, MD 21715.

Andrew J. Antoszyk
MIDDLETOWN, Md. - Andrew John Antoszyk, 51, of 110 E. Main St., died Sunday, March 21, 1999, at University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore.
Born Sept. 16, 1947, in Mount Pleasant, Pa., he was the son of the late Andrew and Florence Antoszyk.
He was employed as an instrument maker with Carnegie Institute in Washington, D.C.
A veteran of the Vietnam War, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1967 to 1969.
He was a member of Middletown United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Capelluto Antoszyk; one daughter, Ashley Marie Antoszyk of Dale City, Va.; four stepchildren; Don McClain of Norfolk, Va., Michelle Fernandez of Hedgesville, W.Va., Sandi Hawes of Westport, Md., and Adam Fernandez of Frederick, Md.; one sister, Kathy Ross of Jacksonville, Fla.; and one niece.
Services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Middletown United Methodist Church. The Rev. Susan Halse will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown, today from 7 to 9 p.m. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m.

Edna M. Truax
HANCOCK - Edna May Truax, 76, of West High Street, died Sunday, March 21, 1999, at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown.
Born May 8, 1922, in Amaranth, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Alvey and Julia Ann Mellott Wertz.
Her husband, Edgar Arthur Truax, died in 1989.
She attended Oak Grove School in Amaranth.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Hancock Assembly of God.
She is survived by two sons, Clifford Ray Truax of Greencastle, Pa., and Ernest A. Truax of Hancock; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Roger Eugene Truax; and two sisters, Minnie Leader and Florence Mellott.
Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Hancock Assembly of God, North Pennsylvania Avenue, Hancock. Charles Helms and the Rev. Gerald Mallott will officiate. Burial will be in Jerusalem Christian Cemetery, Warfordsburg, Pa.
The family will receive friends at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock, today from 7 to 9 p.m., and at the church at noon on Wednesday. The funeral home will be open Tuesday from 3 p.m.

Timothy J. Standley
Timothy John Standley, 35, of 521 Maryland Ave., Hagerstown, died Sunday, March 21, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born May 18, 1963, in Fort Worth, Texas, he was the son of Luther Theron Standley of Albuquerque, N.M., and Clara Neil Cheek Standley Thompson of Abilene, Texas.
He was employed as a correctional officer at the Maryland Correctional Training Center.
He served in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Tribe of Judiah Word Ministries, Boonsboro.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Roberta Renee Kretzer Standley; one son, Joshua Aaron Standley, at home; one stepdaughter, Lacey Renee Benner, at home; one sister, Lora Denise Standley of Abilene; and a grandmother, Clara Pearl Cheek of Abilene.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The Revs. Donald N. Kretzer and Robert L. Kretzer will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Mount View Cemetery, Sharpsburg.
The family will receive friends Thursday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Daratha S. Mowen
CLEARWATER, Fla. - Daratha Swisher Mowen, 86, of 1592 Chateaux Court, Clearwater, and formerly of State Line, Pa., died Thursday, March 18, 1999, at Sabal Palms Health Care Center, Largo, Fla.
Born March 18, 1913 in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Blanch Zimmerman Beyard.
She had been employed at Corning Glass, Greencastle, Pa., as a shipping clerk, and then at Montgomery Ward in Hagerstown as a clerk.
She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, State Line.
She is survived by two sons, Donald L. Swisher of Clearwater, and Harold E. Swisher of New Port Richey, Fla.; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Franklin Beyard and Nelson Beyard.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Miller-Grove Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle. The Rev. Paula C. Ouderkirk will officiate. Burial will be in Saint Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Clear Spring.
The family will receive friends Friday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
Ruby T. Reed
BRUNSWICK, Md. - Ruby Theresa Reed, 79, of 1201 Maple Terrace, died Sunday, March 21, 1999, at Frederick (Md.) Memorial Hospital, .
Born Dec. 8, 1919, in Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late William Franklin and Bertha May Hammond Oden.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Smith Reed, in 1984.
She retired from Roelkey's Grocery Store, Brunswick, as a cashier.
She was a member and past officer of Women of the Moose, Chapter 660 and Ladies Auxiliary of Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 1136, both of Brunswick.
She is survived by one son, Harold F. Reed of Charles Town, W.Va.; one sister, Jane E. Groves of Charles Town; one brother, Howard P. Oden of Brunswick; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Charles S. Reed Sr.; and sisters and brothers.
Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road, Brunswick. The Rev. Fletcher Hutcheson Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Lovettsville, Va.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open Wednesday from 9 a.m. Women of the Moose will conduct a memorial service Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
Edgar R. Buffington
BOONSBORO - Edgar Robinson Buffington, 90, of Boonsboro, died Monday, March 22, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born May 6, 1908, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late James Edgar and Lillian Robinson Buffington.
He attended public schools in Baltimore City; and graduated from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N.J., where he was a member of Beta Theta Phi; and won swimming titles in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern regions.
He was employed by the state of Maryland at the Department of Mental Hygiene in Baltimore, retiring in 1974. He also worked at the Maryland Correctional Institution in Hagerstown; and Workmens' Compensation Commission in Baltimore.
He was a member of Northwood-Appold United Methodist Church in Baltimore.
He is survived by two sons, John L. Buffington of San Francisco and Daniel J. Buffington of Hagerstown; and a granddaughter, Rachel K. Buffington of Hagerstown.
He was preceded in death by a son, Robert C. Buffington in 1991.
He donated his body for research to The Anatomy Board of Maryland.
Memorial services will be private.
