Martha R. Snyder
ROHRERSVILLE - Martha Rebecca Snyder, 92, formerly of 20313 Locust Grove Road, and of Fahrney-Keedy Home and Village, died Monday, March 29, 1999, at the home.
Born April 29, 1906, in Rohrersville, she was the daughter of the late Daniel H. and Carrie E. Rohrer Snyder.
She retired from the Washington County Board of Education.
She was a member of Mount Zion Lutheran Church in Locust Grove, a choir member, Sunday school teacher and treasurer, and member of the True Blue Sunday School Class.
She is survived by four nieces and three nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Mason and Mary Snyder; and one brother, John Snyder.
Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Mount Zion Lutheran Church in Locust Grove. The Rev. Blaine E. Feightner will officiate. Burial will be in Locust Grove Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Anita E. Shaw
WESTMINSTER, Md. - Anita E. Shaw, 71, of Westminster, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 1999, at Carroll County General Hospital.
Born Dec. 31, 1927, in Fairchance, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Sidney and Ethel Wilson Gaskill.
She was preceded in death by her husband, W. Harvey Shaw, who died in 1983.
She and her husband were the owners of Harvey Drive-In, Greenmont, Pa., before retiring.
She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church.
She was a member of VFW Post 467 Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion Post 31 Ladies Auxiliary, Women of the Moose 897, and Ladies of the Elks Westminster Lodge 2277.
She is survived by one daughter, Rhonda L. Shaw of Westminster; five sons, William H. Shaw Jr. and Daniel S. Shaw, both of Westminster, Barry L. Shaw of Monrovia, Md., Clarence B. Shaw of Hanover, Pa.; Allen Shaw of New Oxford, Pa.; one brother, Ray Gaskill if Hollywood, Md.; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Cathy R. Shaw Ardinger; and one sister, Betty Edwards.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Fletcher Funeral Home, 254 E. Main St., Westminster. The Rev. M. Therese Modesto will officiate. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

M. Eleanor Kendall
WILLIAMSPORT - M. Eleanor Kendall, 74, of 16844 Tammany Manor Road, Williamsport, died Friday Jan. 29, 1999, at her home.
Born Aug. 19, 1924, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Richard D. and Mary E. Goetz Stonebraker.
She was employed by the Washington County Commissioners for 20 years, retiring in 1984.
She was a member of Mt. Zion Reformed Church, where she had taught Sunday School in the Children's Department.
She was a member of A.A.R.P. and Women's Auxiliary of Morris Frock Post 42, American Legion.
She is survived by her husband, Max L. Kendall; two daughters, Donna L. Potterfield and Linda L. McElroy, both of Hagerstown; three sisters, Anna V. Steinitz of Kingsville, Md., Lois E. Roulette of Hagerstown and Sarah D. Bowman of Bel Air, Md.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Jack Dale Cook will officiate.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305, N. Potomac Street, Hagerstown.
James W. Linton
FREDERICK, Md. - James William "Jim" Linton, 84, of 9032 A Hamburg Road, Frederick, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 1999, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born July 24, 1914, in Yellow Springs, Md., he was the son of the late William Umford and Carrie Kintz Linton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Leola Elizabeth Harley Linton, who died in 1987.
He was retired from Potomac and Edison Power Company, where he was a lineman.
He was a life member of Brookhill United Methodist Church and the Senior Choir of the church.
He was a member of Yellow Springs Lions Club. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.
He is survived by three sons, Gary J. Linton and James G. Linton, both of Yellow Springs, and Peter H. Linton of Frederick; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews and a special friend, Frances Darner of Middletown, Md.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy Linton and Harold Linton.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Brookhill United Methodist Church, 8946 Indian Springs Road. The Rev. Conrad O. Link will officiate. Burial will be in Brookhill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church St., Frederick. Friends may also visit one hour prior to the services at the church.

Gina L. Rhodes
SHARPSBURG - Gina Lee Rhodes, 45, of 311 E. Main St., Sharpsburg, died Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.
Born Sept. 21, 1953, in Washington County, she was the daughter of JoAnn Griffith of Shepherdstown, W.Va., and the late William Kershner.
She was employed at Twin Oaks of the Williamsport Retirement Village as a certified nursing assistant.
She was a member of Sharpsburg Church of the Brethren.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, David Patterson Rhodes; one daughter, Michelle L. Peirson of Norfolk, Va.; two sons, David Anthony Rhodes of Fullerton, Calif., and Nathan Andrew Rhodes of Hagerstown; one sister, Pam Midthun of Sharpsburg; three brothers, Earl Griffith and Oley Griffith, both of Boonsboro, Randall Griffith of Livermore, Calif.; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Earl Lee Griffith.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Albert L. Leaf Memorial Chapel of Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The Rev. Gene Renner will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
The family will receive friends Tuesday at the funeral home at the conclusion of the services until 9 p.m. The funeral home will be open Tuesday after 9 a.m. for the convenience of family and friends.

Dorothy D. Durst
WILLIAMSPORT - Dorothy Delaphine Durst, 76, formerly of 9710 Clover Heights Road, Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999 at Homewood Retirement Center, Williamsport.
Born Nov. 3, 1922, in Hancock, she was the daughter of the late Arlie and Lucy Bishop McCusker.
She was preceded in death by husband, French Durst Sr., who died in 1965.
She was employed at McClellan Air Base, California.
She is survived by one son, French Durst Jr. of Boulder, Colo.; one sister, Evelyn Myers of Hagerstown; one brother, Gordon McCusker of Hancock; two grandchildren, one great-grandson and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon Collett; and one sister, Margaret Mehaffey.
Funeral services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
