Elsie M. Rollison
BRUNSWICK, Md. - Elsie May Rollison, 89, of 1100 Peach Orchard Lane, Brunswick, died Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999, at Frederick Health Care Center, Frederick, Md.
Born Sept. 24, 1909, in Harpers Ferry, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late George Washington and Mary Baker Piper.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar M. Rollison Sr.
She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Petersville, Md.
She is survived by two daughters, Eleanor Summers of Middletown, Md., and AnnaLee M. Spring of Lime Kiln, Md; three sons, Edgar Rollison Jr. of Knoxville, Md., Ebbie Rollison of Fairfield, Pa., and Harold Rollison of Lisbon, Md; four sisters, Genevieve Cooley of Hagerstown, Madeline Pearl of Jefferson, Md., Sylvia Flook and Estelle Barnhart, both of Frederick; two brothers, Delbert Piper of Tampa, Fla., and Herman Piper of Middletown; 13 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Norman Piper, Leslie Piper, Douglas Piper and Leonard Piper.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road, Brunswick. The Rev. Edward A. Jordan will officiate. Burial will be in Jefferson Reformed Cemetery, Jefferson.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. For the convenience of friends, the funeral home will be open Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Virginia N. Hutzell
Virginia Nellie Hutzell, 81, of 301 Bentley Court, Hagerstown, died Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999, at 2013 Londontown Drive, Hagerstown, the home of her daughter.
Born Oct. 10, 1917, in Bristol, Va., she was the daughter of the late Lewellyn Laython and Nettie Elizabeth Burke Whittington.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell John Hutzell, who died in 1997.
She was a homemaker and formerly employed by Hagerstown Laundry.
She was a member of Black Rock Bible Church.
She is survived by four daughters, Edna Mae Smith, Linda Lou Hill and Doris Jean Rubeck, all of Hagerstown, and Nancy Lee Keefer of Clear Spring; four sons, Charles Leonard Hutzell, Ronald Lee Hutzell, and Richard Eugene Hutzell, all of Hagerstown, and Donald Wayne Hutzell of Boonsboro; two sisters, Betty W. Randall and D. Louise Wood, both of Hagerstown; two brothers, Lewellyn Walker Whittington of Downsville, Md., and Harry L. Whittington of Frederick, Md.; 27 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Betty Elizabeth Hutzell; two sons, Russell Amos Hutzell and David Lewellyn Hutzell; four sisters, Ruth E. Whittington, Lucy M. Swisher, Marie Alice Flook, and Mary H. Baugher, and two brothers, Henry A. Whittington and Douglas K. Whittington.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. S. Dwight Morgan, the Rev. Paul Heefner and the Rev. Keith Fuller will officiate. Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery, Boonsboro.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Niles B. Fox, Sr.
Niles Bernard "Bud" Fox, Sr., 79, of 67 Manor Drive, Hagerstown, died Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999, at Colton Villa Nursing Home.
Born Jan. 7, 1920, in Frederick, Md., he was the son of the late Albert Clayton and Louise Virginia Baker Fox.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Louise Hamby Fox, who died in 1994.
He was retired from Pangborn Corporation after 32 years of service.
He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps, serving in World War II.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He was a life member of VFW Post 1936, where he served on the rifle squad for a number of years, AMVETS Post 10 and Dixon-Troxell American Legion Post 211, Funkstown.
He was a past volunteer of Western Enterprise Fire Company and past volunteer with Community Rescue Service with 16 years of service.
He is survived by one son, Niles B. Fox, Jr., of Hagerstown; two stepdaughters, Peggy J. Kendrick and Beverly A. Dick, both of Hagerstown; one stepson, Earl M. Renner Jr. of Hagerstown, three sisters, Patsy Sines of New Carrollton, Md., Thelma Poole and Betty Fox, both of Frederick; one granddaughter; two great-grandsons, step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Flowers and June Grabill.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. David Moser will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
Military graveside services will be conducted by VFW Post 1936.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Robert V. Conner
FLORENCE, Ala. - Robert Vincent "Bob" Conner, 80, of Florence, and formerly of Hagerstown, died Monday, Jan. 25, 1999.
Born in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late David and Marie E. Conner.
A veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, he served in World War II.
He was a member of Highland Baptist Church, Florence.
He was a member of IBEW Local 558; and Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Hazel Lovelace Conner of Florence; one daughter, Brenda Phillips of Florence; one son, David Conner of Birmingham, Ala.; two sisters, Faustine Gindlesperger of Johnstown, Pa., and Marie Berry of Hagerstown; two grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Warren D. Conner.
Funeral services were held Jan. 28 at Greenview Memorial Chapel. Burial was in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.

Howard I. Bitner
LEITERSBURG - Howard I. Bitner, 73, of Leiter Street, Leitersburg, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 1999, at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown.
Born Dec. 11, 1925, in St. James, Md., he was the son of the late Riley Daniel and Loretta Warrenfeltz Bitner.
He was employed at G and G Metals, Venice, Fla.
A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, he served during World War II, in Iwo Jima, He received the Purple Heart.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Smithsburg.
He was a member of 5th Marine Division Association.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Virginia Bitner; three daughters, Deborah K. Poff of Florida, Darlene G. Muse of Georgia, and Dawn V. Lewis of Maryland; two sons, David I. Bitner of Florida and Donald E. Bitner of Pennsylvania; five sisters, Ruth Smith, Blanche Ebersole, Evelyn Keebaugh, Coquesia Domer, and Margaret Miles; three brothers, Walt Bitner, Joseph Bitner, and Omer Bitner; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Riley Bitner Jr.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 16 N. Main St., Smithsburg. The Rev. Mark Walters will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown, with military services by the U.S. Marine Corps.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church social hall.

Mary E. Keefauver
Mary Elizabeth Keefauver, 73, formerly of Hamilton Boulevard, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 1999, at Avalon Manor Health Care Center, Hagerstown.
Born May 10, 1925, in Mount Airy, Md., she was the daughter of the late Garrison and Virginia Baker Norwood.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vinson T. Keefauver, in 1991.
She was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, Hagerstown.
She was a member of American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 42; VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 1936, and FOE Ladies Auxiliary Post 694, all of Hagerstown, and AARP.
She is survived by one daughter, Cynthia L. Horst of Hagerstown; one sister, Evaleen Moxley Leon of Mount Airy, Md.; and two grandsons.
Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
