Leon V. Remsberg
MIDDLETOWN, Md. - Leon Vernon Remsberg, 55, of 7134 Holter Road, died Thursday, Feb. 4, 1999, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born April 27, 1943, in Middletown, he was the son of the late John Vernon and Lillian Schroyer Remsberg.
He was a lifelong farmer.
He was a member of Christ Reformed United Church of Christ, Middletown.
He was on the Frederick County Farm Bureau board of directors; and formerly membership chairman of Frederick County Farm Bureau for two years. He also had served on Sire Power board of directors; and the board of directors of Southern States Cooperative.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine Huffer Remsberg; a daughter, Johanna Allen of Jefferson, W.Va.; and a granddaughter, Katelyn Allen.
Services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Christ Reformed Church, Middletown. The Rev. Mark A. Wakefield, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown. For the convenience of friends, the funeral home will be open earlier Sunday. Visitation also will be Monday one hour prior to the services at the church.

Robert F. Middlekauff
Robert F. Middlekauff, 86, of 1535 Kensington Drive, Hagerstown, died Thursday, Feb. 4, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Nov. 14, 1912, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Frank R. and Ena B. Middlekauff.
He attended Washington and Lee University.
Prior to retirement, he was a sales representative for Ruberoid/GAF Corp. for 30 years; and R.D. McKee for seven years.
He served with the U.S. Army during World War II in Africa and Italy.
He was a member of Haven Lutheran Church.
He was a member of Exchange Club, where he served as past president. He also was a member of Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion; The Last Man's Club; First Hose Fire Company; AARP; and was past president of Federal Little League.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy P. Middlekauff; a daughter, Susan C. Papazian of Richmond, Va.; two sons, John B. Middlekauff and Robert F. "Tim" Middlekauff Jr., both of Hagerstown; and five grandsons.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Elaine Fahnestock; and a brother, Alton R. Middlekauff.
Services will be Sunday at 4:30 p.m. at Haven Lutheran Church, 1035 Haven Road, Hagerstown. The Rev. Torben Aarsand will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 3 to 4:30 p.m. prior to the services at the church.

Maurice E. Barnhart
Maurice Ellsworth Barnhart, 86, of 16917 Shady Brook Terrace, Hagerstown, died Thursday, Feb. 4, 1999, at Julia Manor Health Care Center, Hagerstown.
Born Dec. 19, 1912, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late John Howard and Mary Magdella McElroy Barnhart.
He was an employee of W.D. Byron Tannery in Williamsport, retiring in 1985.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Winifred Edna Crippen Barnhart of Leland, N.C.; two daughters, Jean O'Neal Weiss of Jacksonville, Fla. and Carol Rankin of Bolivia, N.C.; a son, Mark Barnhart of Hagerstown; a sister, Nora Whittington of Hagerstown; a brother, Charles Barnhart of Funkstown; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four sisters.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Helen L. Laspe
PEN MAR, Md. - Helen L. Hurley Laspe, 73, of 24707 Oaks Ave., died Friday, Feb. 5, 1999, in the emergency room of Waynesboro Hospital, Waynesboro, Pa.
Born May 17, 1925, in Adams County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Elsie P. Patterson Hurley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold H. Laspe, in 1982. They were married
in July 1946.
She is survived by two sons, Danny L. Laspe of Cascade, Md., and Ronnie Lee Laspe of Keedysville; a grandson, Jason L. Laspe of Keedysville; and a niece.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Deanna V. Kindle in 1986.
The family requests the omission of flowers.
It was her request to have no public viewing or services.
Burial will be in Harbaugh Church Cemetery, near Rouzerville at the convenience of the family.

Pearl F. Moser
Pearl F. Moser, 82, of 38 E. Franklin St., Hagerstown, died Friday, Feb. 5, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born April 16, 1916, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Richard Howard and Lillie H. Evans Marston.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Koogle Moser, in 1977.
She was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church.
She was a life member of Owl's Club; and served with Volunteers of America.
She is survived by two daughters, Velma I. Myers of Greencastle, Pa. and Linda D. Meldron of Hagerstown; a son, Eugene E. "Gene" Folkes of Leitersburg; 23 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and two nieces.
She was preceded in death by two sons, James F. Marston and Richard L. Sager.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Ann V. Atkins will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pamela Z. Collier-Richter
ATHENS, Ohio - Pamela Zahn Collier-Richter, 57, of Athens and West Bloomfield, Mich., died Friday, Feb. 5, 1999, at Hospice of Farmington Hills, Mich.
Born June 29, 1941, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Leon Zahn, director of the Lutheran Welfare Society of Northwest Ohio, and Doris Nigh Zahn.
She was a 1959 graduate of Thomas A. DeVilibiss High School in Toledo, Ohio.
She retired from Ohio University Office of Admissions; and was a renowned childbirth educator in Athens, who introduced the Lamaze method of childbirth to the community. She was the founder and coordinator of the Lamaze Program at Sheltering Arms and O'Bleness Memorial Hospitals.
She was the first Volunteer Director at Sheltering Arms Hospital in 1969.
She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Athens.
She was a member of American Society for Psycho prophylaxis in Obstetrics; ASPO Certified Lamaze Childbirth Education, former member of Columbus Allbreed Training Club; and an associate member of Therapy Dogs International.
She is survived by her husband, Rev. Charles W. Richter; a daughter, Trista Collier of Dallas; two step daughters, Judie Tomaszewski of Clawson, Mich. and Christie Kothari of Walled Lake, Mich.; a brother, Geoff Zahn, of Dexter, Mich.; a step grandson; and a niece.
Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, Athens. Pastor Patricia Lull will officiate. Burial will be in Estes Park, Colorado.
