Edna M. Kanaga
EASTON, Md. - Edna May Kanaga, 97, formerly of 222 North Potomac Street, Hagerstown, died Friday, Feb. 5, 1999, at Pines Facility in Easton.
Born Oct. 12, 1901, in Newark, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Laura Schmidt Fetzer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Kanaga, who died in 1993.
She was retired from Fairchild Industries after 25 years of service.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Hagerstown.
She was an artist and a member of art groups in Melbourne, Fla., Massachusetts and Hagerstown.
She is survived by three daughters, Barbara Roach of Oxford, Md., Joan Wieland of Hagerstown, and Sara Simpson of St., Croix; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 15 Randolph Ave., Hagerstown. The Rev. David M. Buchenroth will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Arrangements are by Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.
Martha J. Wageley
Martha Jane Wageley, 80, of 21 Summerlin Drive, Hagerstown, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown.
Born May 12, 1918, in Sharpsburg, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Roy and Ada Mae Colbert Poffenberger.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Paul Albert Wageley, who died in 1993.
She was a graduate of Boonsboro High School and Hagerstown Business College. She attended Georgetown University.
She was employed by Antietam Battlefield-Tourist Office, Fairchild, and the U.S. Navy, Pentagon.
She served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Hagerstown.
She was a member of Queen Ester Chapter 3 Order Eastern Star; Sharpsburg American Legion Post 236; B.P.O.E. Lodge 378, and A.A.R.P.
She is survived by one sister, Betty Poffenberger Swain of Hagerstown; a sister-in-law with whom she resided, Annie Otto of Hedgesville, W.Va.; six nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Poffenberger Wageley, and four brothers, Carl Poffenberger, Woodrow Poffenberger, James Earl Poffenberger, and Davis Lewis Poffenberger.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 15 Randolph Ave., Hagerstown. The Rev. David M. Buchenroth will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Sharpsburg.

Anna M. Weller
BOONSBORO - Anna Mary Weller, 75, of 18318 Lappans Road, Boonsboro, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born on Aug. 20, 1923, in Clear Spring, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary Naomi Shank Weller.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Christ Reformed United Church of Christ, Sharpsburg.
She was a member of Antietam Lioness Club and Homewood Auxiliary.
She is survived by two brothers, John Arthur Weller and Roger Francis Weller, both of Boonsboro; nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, L. Margaret Tritch; and one brother, William Charles Weller.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Beverly Lewis will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Clear Spring.
The family will receive friends Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Marjorie G. Thomas
Marjorie G. Thomas, 86, of 17829 Woodcrest Road, Hagerstown, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown.
Born Dec. 30, 1912, in Canandaigua, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Grace and Albert Thomas.
She graduated from high school in Canandaigua. She graduated from Keuka College.
She taught in the high school in Bemus Point, N.Y., and then at Falconer High School until she retired in 1965.
She attended Bethel Baptist Church, and helped the local Bible Club workers.
Funeral services will be today at 8:30 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. J. Paul Reno will officiate.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Margaret J. Schriver
HANCOCK - Margaret Joann Schriver, 51, of Robinson Road, Hancock, died Monday, Feb. 8, 1999, at her home.
Born July 21, 1947, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late James Rosco Sr. and Naomi Catherine Dudley Reel.
She was a 1965 graduate of Southern Fulton High School, Warfordsburg, Pa.
She was of the Protestant faith.
She is survived by a special friend, James Bothel of Houstontown, Pa.; two daughters, Laurie J. Wienclawski of Landover, Md., and Leslie L. Douglas of Hancock; one son, Jamie R. Schriver of Berkeley Springs; two sisters, Carol J. Babb of Woodbridge, Va., and Louella F. Smith of Needmore, Pa.; two brothers, Norman Allen Reel of Gulfport, Miss., and Franklin D. Reel of Harrisonville, Pa.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Patricia Schriver; and a half-brother, James Roscoe Reel Jr.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at 6 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock. The Rev. William Swope will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Amaranth Brethren Cemetery, Warfordsburg.

George W. Sciese
HANCOCK - George Wilbur Sciese, 77, of Round Top Road, Hancock, died Monday, Feb. 8, 1999, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.
Born Aug. 7, 1921, in Round Top, he was the son of the late John Julius and Mary "Katie" Pryor Sciese.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during World War II with the Blue Ridge Mountain 80th Division in France and Germany as a rifleman. His awards included the Purple Heart, one Oak Leaf Cluster, European Theater of Battle Operations Ribbon with two Battle Stars for Normandy and Northern France, Combat Infantryman's Badge and Bronze Star.
He was a member of Hancock Assembly of God Church.
He was a member of DAV Post 42.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine R. Starliper Sciese, whom he married
in 1947; nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lillie Mae Wyant and Dolly Sciese.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Hancock Assembly of God. The Rev. Charles W. Helms and the Rev. Robert D. Smith Sr., will officiate. Burial will be in Antioch Christian Cemetery, Big Cove Tannery, Pa.
The family will receive friends today from from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock, and on Wednesday at the church from noon to 2 p.m. The funeral home will be open from 2 to 9 p.m. today.
