Marie Bowers
CASCADE, Md. - Marie Bowers, 65, of 14327 Royer Road, died Monday, Feb. 22, 1999, at Waynesboro (Pa.) Hospital.
Born Jan. 20, 1934, in Winchester, Ind., she was the daughter of the late William R. and Carmen Dorine Conley Nelson.
She was a 1953 graduate of Union City High School. She attended Salvation Army College for two years, and achieved the rank of lieutenant.
She was employed for 20 years with Credit Union, first with Fort Ritchie, and then, with Letterkenny Credit Union and Patriot Credit Union. She retired in 1995.
She was a member of Fort Ritchie Chapel, sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and was Vacation Bible School assistant music director. She joined Germantown Church of God, Cascade.
She was a Fort Ritchie cheerleading coach, Baseball Youth Activities Group coordinator and founder of Blue Ridge Theater Guild.
She was a member of Pen Mar Mixed Bowling League; Wives Club of Camp David; and National AARP.
She is survived by her husband, Freddie M. "Fred" Bowers, whom she married
Jan. 1, 1960; a daughter, Beth A. Theis of Rouzerville; two sons, Frederick Alan Bowers of Hampton, Va., and Kevin E. Bowers of Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.; two sisters, Mary Davis of Linton, Ind., and E. Jean Watkins of Berne, Ind.; three brothers, Lowell Nelson and Donald Nelson, both of Bradenton, Fla., and James Nelson of Union City, Ohio; seven grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Ann Welker; three brothers, Junior Nelson, Tommy Nelson and Raymond Nelson; and a half sister, Leatha Mae Deaton.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Germantown Church of God, Cascade. Pastor Paul Tobias will officiate. Burial will be in Bethel Church Cemetery, Cascade.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, Pa.

Mildred M. Robertson
LEITERSBURG - Mildred Marie Robertson, 78, of Avalon Manor Health Care Center, and formerly of Leiter Street, died Monday, Feb. 22, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Feb. 9, 1921, near Leitersburg, she was the daughter of the late William Earl and Carrie Grace Poper Seilhamer.
She was of the Protestant faith.
She is survived by a daughter, Hilda Clopper of Cavetown; a son, Kenneth Robertson of Leitersburg; two sisters, Mary Ruth Oberholzer of Zullinger, Pa., and Delores Barnhart of Waynesboro, Pa.; three brothers, Joseph Seilhamer of Zullinger, Pa., Marlin Seilhamer of Waynesboro and Harold Seilhamer of Leitersburg; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Private burial will be in Green Hill cemetery in Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg.
Clarence E. Schildt
BYRON, Ill. - Clarence E. Schildt, 91, of Byron, died Friday, Feb. 12, 1999, at the Swedish American Hospital.
Born Nov. 7, 1907, he was the son of the late Walter and Leah Snider Schildt of Smithsburg.
He was a heavy equipment crane operator; and an operating engineer for Local 150 for more than 50 years in Illinois.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Gladys Wolfensberger Schildt; a daughter, Leola Meyers of Bryon; two sons, Walter Schildt of Brooklyn Center, Minn., and Michael Schildt of Crownsville, Md.; a sister, Charlotte Bowman of Boonsboro; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Alemeda Needy; three brothers, Lester Schildt, Raymond Schildt and Lloyd Schildt; and a granddaughter.
Services were held Tuesday, Feb. 16, at Benson-Brown-Seidel Funeral Home in Polo, Ill. Burial was in Fairmount Cemetery, Polo.
Mary F. Pugliese
MIDDLETOWN, Md. - Mary Frances Pugliese, 85, formerly of 108 Locust Court, died Monday, Feb. 22, 1999, at Williamsport Nursing Center, Williamsport.
Born Nov. 7, 1913, in Cleveland she was the daughter of the late Jon and Agnes Bonkowski Butwrinski.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George William Pugliese, in 1988.
She is survived by a daughter, Karen Ann Corso of Milltown, N.J.; a son, Frank G. Pugliese of Boonsboro; seven grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at Cabriel Home for Funerals, 170 N. Main St., Milltown, N.J. The Rev. Robert Santa Barbara will officiate. Burial will be in Franklin Memorial Park, Milltown.
Friends may call Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Glenn L. Putman Jr.
SABILLASVILLE - Glenn Lee Putman Jr., 77, of Sabillasville Road, died Monday, Feb. 22, 1999, at his home.
Born May 2, 1921, near Lewistown, Md., he was the son of the late Glenn Lee and Pearl Susan Harne Putman.
He was employed by Renn Pontiac for 28 years and by Rosemont Motors, both in Frederick, Md.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Air Force.
He was a member of Church of God of Prophecy in Sabillasville.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Fellows Putman; one daughter, Jeanne Cross of Myersville, Md.; two sons, G. Wayne Putman and Daniel Putman, both of Thurmont, Md.; a sister, Louise Schultz of Frederick; a brother, John Putman of Frederick; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Ferguson.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Germantown Bethel Church of God, 16924 Raven Rock Road, Cascade. Pastor Harry Lambert and Pastor Lloyd Hahn will officiate. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, Cascade.
The family will receive friends at the church at 1 p.m.

Mamie R. Everly
Mamie Rebecca Everly, 81, of 16110 Everly Road, Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Oct. 3, 1917, in Winchester, Va., she was the daughter of the late Freeman Carroll and Valley Virginia Belle Holiday Boyce.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Robinwood Church of God, Hagerstown.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Charles Joseph Everly; a daughter, Donna Mae Everly of Hagerstown; a granddaughter, Renee Hobbs of Smithsburg; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Charles Wayne Everly; two sisters, Goldie Boyce and Elsie Fogle; and four brothers, William Boyce, Charles Boyce, Richard Boyce and Henry Boyce.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in Albert L. Leaf Memorial Chapel of Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The Rev. Henry Marquiss will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
Friends may call Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open Friday after 9 a.m.
Henry H. Barnhart
HANCOCK, Md. - Henry H. Barnhart, 78, of Tollgate Ridge, died Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999, at his home.
Born Aug. 16, 1920, in Fulton County, Pa., he was the son of the late Ross and Madeline Sensel Barnhart.
He was a farmer. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Hancock as a carrier after 20 years.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Force.
He was a member of and served on the vestry of St. Thomas' Episcopal Church, Hancock.
He was a life member of Webster B. Harrison Post 26 American Legion, Hancock; a former member of Hancock Grange and Washington County Farm Bureau.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Cunningham Barnhart of Hancock, whom he married
May 11, 1946; two daughters, Melinda B. Golden of Hancock and Stephanie B. Foy of Baltimore; two sisters, Julia B. Lynn and Mary G. Barnhart of Hancock; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Alberta Barnhart; and two brothers, John Barnhart and Robert Barnhart Sr.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Hancock. The Rev. F. Allan Weatherhold Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Tonoloway Primitive Baptist Cemetery, Route 655 North of Hancock.
The family will receive friends Saturday at the home of Melinda Golden after the committal services at the graveside.
