Virginia P. Kiser
Virginia P. Kiser, 77, of 13300 Hunter Hill, Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Sept. 12, 1921, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late William and Ella Mae Houser Black.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold R. Kiser, in 1982.
She was a retired employee of Troy Laundry Co.
She is survived by five daughters, Ann C. Brown of Chambersburg, Pa., Sondie L Barnhart, Sherry D. Shoemaker, and Sally A. McKee, all of Hagerstown, and Barbara S. Wallech of Maugansville; three sons, Kimm H. Kiser of Yellow Springs, Ohio, Wayne C. Kiser of Sparta, Wis., and Greg B. Kiser of Hagerstown; two sisters, June Henson of Hagerstown and Patsy Valentine of Sharpsburg; one brother, Bobby Jacobs of Russellville, Ala.; 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Lorraine Horner; and one brother, Billy Black.
Funeral services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St. The Rev. Lauren Lay will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Archie F. Harbaugh Jr.
FALLSTON, Md. - Archie Floyd Harbaugh Jr., of Fallston, and formerly of Rockdale, Md., died Monday, Jan. 18, 1999.
Born in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Archie Floyd and Cora Evers Patton Harbaugh Sr.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma M. Poisal Harbaugh.
He is survived by a daughter, Ann H. Gunning; and two grandchildren, Megan E. Gunning and Meredith I. Gunning.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at McComas Funeral Home, Bel Air, Md. Burial will be in Lorraine Park, Baltimore.
Friends may call today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Sharon K. Ardinger
Sharon Kay Ardinger, 50, of 823 S. Potomac St., Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1999, at her home.
Born Feb. 22, 1948, in Waynesboro, Pa., she was the daughter of Catherine L. Wagner Yohe of Hagerstown and the late George W. Yohe.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Ardinger, in 1992.
She is survived by three sisters, Judith A. Green of State Line, Pa., Beverly L. Gamble of Littlestown, Pa., and Carolyn J. Benner of Hagerstown; and three brothers, Cornelius E. Yohe Sr. of East Berlin, Pa., Clifford O. Yohe of Meridian, Miss., and Glen R. Yohe of Williamsport.
Services will be at the convenience of the family.

Edwin L. Clark
Edwin Leroy Clark, 73, of Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born June 15, 1925, in Williamsport, he was the son of the late Wilmer Clark and Rhoda Clark Moore.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Ann Clark.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army and received a Purple Heart.
He retired from Chrysler First Financial as a branch manager.
He was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church.
He was a member of B.P.O. Elks 378; Funkstown Moose; and American Legion Morris Frock Post 42.
He is survived by two sons, James Clark of Rockville, Md., and David Clark of Columbia, Md.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Stephen D. Robison will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, with military honors conducted by American Legion Morris Frock Post 42.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Leo F. Gouker
MYERSVILLE, Md. - Leo F. Gouker, 79, of Myersville, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1999, at Homewood at Williamsport.
Born April 23, 1919, in Ellerton, Md., he was the son of the late Benjamin S. and Laura Hoover Gouker.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna F. Worthington Gouker in 1974; and by his second wife, E. Louise Hensler Gouker, in 1999.
He served in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee.
He was employed by Pangborn Corp. in Hagerstown; and retired from Fort Detrick in Frederick, Md., in 1979 after 27 years. He owned and operated a welding shop in Myersville.
He was a member of Myersville Church of the Brethren.
He was a charter member of Catoctin Fish and Game Protective Association of Myersville.
He is survived by a son, Michael L. Gouker of Hagerstown; a sister, Thelma Boward of Hagerstown; a brother, Atlee Gouker of Frederick; and two grandsons.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Robert Gouker, Mehrle Gouker, Kermit Gouker, Gilbert Gouker and Elmer Gouker; and a sister, Regina Bair.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Grossnickle Church of the Brethren, Myersville. The Rev. Dean Miller will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Ricketts Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Myersville.

Alfred E. Lynn
Alfred Ellsworth Lynn, 66, of Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born April 9, 1932, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late William Ralph and Esther Faye Ringer Lynn.
He is survived by one brother, Milton Lynn of Sharpsburg; one niece; one great-nephew; one aunt; and cousins.
He was preceded in death by one brother, William Ralph Lynn Jr.
Graveside services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Rest Haven Cemetery. Maj. Robert Henderson will officiate.
There will be no viewing.
Arrangements are by Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.
Glada L. Gates
Glada Lee Gates, 84, of 1020 Mulberry Ave., died Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, at the home of her niece, Susan C. Branham, in Hopewell, N.J.
Born in Summersville, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Grover Cleveland and Della Hamilton Gates.
She was a graduate of Glennville State Teachers College.
She taught school in Nicholas County, W.Va., and Frederick and Washington counties in Maryland.
She was a member of Washington County Retired Teachers Association and National Retired Teachers Association.
She is survived by her niece, Susan C. Branham of Hopewell; and two great-nieces.
Services will be Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. J. Norman Mayer will officiate. Burial will be Saturday at 1 p.m. in Peck Cemetery, in Summersville, W.Va.
Visitation will be Thursday 30 minutes prior to services.
