Marjorie E. Watkins
BOONSBORO - Marjorie Elizabeth Jolley Watkins, 76, of Boonsboro, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 1999, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.
Born May 17, 1922, in Rockville, Md., she was the daughter of the late Edward Mason and Edith King Jolley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Winfield Watkins Sr.
She was a homemaker and worked as a gift wrapper at The Surrey in Potomac, Md. She also was a Princess House consultant for several years.
She was active as a community chest volunteer in her neighborhood of 7 Locks and Montrose Road during the 1950s and 1960s.
She attended Rockville United Methodist Church. Later she attended St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Williamsport and Fayetteville (Pa.) Church of God.
She is survived by four daughters, Joanne Weicht of Williamsport, Betty Snowberger of Waynesboro, Pa., Judy Williams of Rockville and Wendy Young of Boonsboro; a son, Otis Watkins Jr. of Hagerstown; a stepdaughter, Barbara Watkins; three sisters, Gladys Lozupone and Mary Ellen Smith, both of Florida, and Peaches Zaphiriou of Rockville; 17 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeannie Watkins Bolton; a sister, Edith Russ; and a brother, Edward Jolley.
Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Olin L. Molesworth Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus, Md. Pastor William Watkins will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Park, 12800 Viers Mill Road, Rockville.
Friends may call Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Kidney Foundation.
Carl R. Emrick
Carl Russell Emrick, 57, of Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 1999, at his home.
Born Aug. 10, 1941, in East Port, Md., he was the son of the late John Oliver and Margaret Ellen Halbig Emrick.
He was retired from A.A. Taxi. Previously he was employed with High Gear.
He was a member of the Moose in Annapolis.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Jean Emrick; a daughter, Lisa Collins of Odenton, Md.; two sisters, Louise Hinie and Agnes Hannon, both of Annapolis; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Davison; and three brothers, Richard Emrick, Daniel Emrick and John Emrick.
Memorial services will be today at 7 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. George A. Limmer will officiate.
The family will receive friends today one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Mary M. Anderson
WILLIAMSPORT - Mary M. McKee Anderson, of Williamsport, died Monday, Jan. 11, 1999, at her son's home in Connecticut.
She is survived by her husband, Charles F.W. Anderson; a daughter, Barbara A. McBride; two sons, William B. Anderson and George M. Anderson; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Leonard J. Ruck Funeral Home, 5305 Harford Road, Baltimore. Burial will be in Druid Ridge Cemetery.
Friends may call Friday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Charles T. Goetz
SHARPSBURG - Charles Thomas "Tom" Goetz, 49, of Sharpsburg, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1999, at his home.
Born July 30, 1949, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Ethel Minerva Gettel Goetz of Hagerstown and the late Charles Joseph Goetz.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He was employed with Shifler Electrical Associates Inc. for 30 years.
He was a member of Sharpsburg Bible Church for 17 years, was an elder, a deacon, trustee and Sunday School teacher.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Peggy Lee Goetz; a daughter, Holly Michele Goetz at home; three sons, Charles Timothy Goetz of Frederick, Md., and Brian Keith Goetz and Randy Alan Goetz, both at home; a sister, Cathy Rush of Hagerstown; three brothers, Robert Eugene Goetz of California, Larry Steven Goetz of Kentucky and Charles Joseph Goetz Jr. of Hagerstown; and two grandchildren.
Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Sharpsburg Bible Church, Potomac and Antietam streets, Sharpsburg. The Rev. Gene Renner will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown; and Friday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Philip W. Shew Sr.
Philip W. Shew Sr., 79, of 11520 Dellwyn Drive, Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 1999, at his home.
Born Feb. 4, 1919, in Oberlin, Ohio, he was the son of the late James Wendell and Stella Irene Biggs Shew.
He retired from Pangborn Corp. and J.L.G. in McConnellsburg, Pa.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1936 to 1945.
He was a Protestant.
He was a member of Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion, Capital PC Users Group in Rockville, Md., and AARP.
He is survived by his wife, Goldie M. Shew; a son, Philip W. Shew Jr. of Albuquerque, N.M.; a granddaughter, Kristen L. Shew of Denver; and a grandson, Philip W. Shew III of Steamboat Springs, Colo.
Services will be held at a later date at Rocky Gap Veterans cemetery near Cumberland, Md.
There will be no visitation.

Anna F. Finney
HANCOCK - Anna F. Finney, 82, of Franklin Street, died Monday, Jan. 11, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born July 3, 1916, in Hancock, she was the daughter of the late William N. and Olive E. Peck Seville.
She was a 1935 graduate of Hancock High School.
She retired from Londontown Corp. in Hancock in 1978. She formerly was employed as a seamstress for Jacob Brothers Inc.
She was a member of Hancock United Methodist Church.
She was a member of the former Hancock chapter of Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Dave Finney; a daughter, Carole Ann Kerns of Hancock; a son, Zane Finney of Hancock, eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary L. Hahne, Charlotte Wagner and Phyllis Shook; and a brother, William G. Seville.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., in Hancock. Burial will be in Damascus cemetery in Big Cove Tannery, Pa.
There will be no viewing or visitation.
