Luis S. Carreon
Luis Santos Carreon, 74, of 311 Valley Road, Hagerstown, died Monday, Jan. 11, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born July 15, 1924, in Dolores, San Fernando, Philippines, he was the son of the late Pablo Carreon and Francisca Santos.
He is survived by his wife, Corazon N. Carreon; five daughters, Susan Diego of the Philippines, Sylvia Carreon of Paris, France, Lucia Knable of Hancock, Nerriza Cabatit of Hagerstown and Lea Canlas of Stockbridge, Ga.; a son, Noel Carreon of Hagerstown; three stepdaughters, Teresita Hilairo of the Philippines, Josie Lecuyer of Hagerstown and Alma Carreon of Rome, Italy; two stepsons, Nelson Angeles of Rome and Roberto Angeles of the Philippines; six sisters, Gerdrudes Balingit, Julia Carreon, Soledad Bundalain, Bacita Bundalain, Rosario David and Irenea Gonzalez, all of the Philippines; a brother, Deodoro Carreon of the Philippines; and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Luisito Carreon; two stepsons, Wilfredo Angeles and Rudolfo Angeles Jr.; and two grandsons.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family in San Fernando. Burial will be in Good Shepherd, Dolores.
Local arrangements are by Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, North, Hagerstown.
Roseline V. Harshaw
WILLIAMSPORT - Roseline Virginia Harshaw, 92, a resident of Williamsport Nursing Home, and formerly of 11 W. Baltimore St., died Monday, Jan. 11, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Dec. 25, 1906, in St. Albans, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Harrison and Virgie Strawther.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Colon Harshaw.
She was a member of Zion Baptist Church, served on the Usher Board, MIssionaries and Helping Hand Club.
She is survived by her daughter, Rosalind A. Martin of Martinsburg, W.Va.; a sister, Geraldine Smithers of Waldorf, Md.; a brother, Charles Strawther of Huntington, W.Va.; two grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Prientes Williams, Irene Cooper and Virgie Howard.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Zion Baptist Church, Hagerstown. The Rev. Haru Carter Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Thursday one hour prior to services at the church.
Arrangements are by Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, Hagerstown.
Paul R. Cross
Paul Roger Cross, 61, of 14435 Battletown Road, Hagerstown, died Monday, Jan. 11, 1999, at his home.
Born May 23, 1937, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Dolly M. Robison Cross of Maugansville and the late Gerald Willis Cross.
He was retired from Pangborn Corp.
He attended Hagerstown Brethren Church.
He was a member of Moose of Waynesboro, Pa.; and Blue Ridge Mountain Club.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Virginia Cross; a daughter, Mary Ann Jirout of Taneytown, Md.; two sons, David White of Maryland and Paul "Stoney" Cross Jr. of Baltimore; three sisters, Patsy Rohrer of Hagerstown, Jane Gates of Clearbrook, Va., and Gatha Howell of Leitersburg; a brother, Robert Cross of Hancock; three grandchildren; and seven stepchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Cross Jr.
Services will be Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Darryl Zoller will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ruth V. Coldsmith Spessard
Ruth V. Coldsmith Spessard, 99, formerly of 400 Key Circle, died Sunday, Jan. 10, 1999, at Homewood Retirement Center, Williamsport.
Born May 6, 1899, near Scotland, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Frank Theodore and Mary Emily Cleverstone Coldsmith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, V. Roy Spessard, in 1970.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Hagerstown, and a member of Temple Builders Sunday School Class.
She is survived by one daughter, Patricia A. Witmer of LaVale, Md.; one son, Kevin L. Spessard Sr., of Hagerstown; one sister, Vernoll Jones of Lancaster, Pa.; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Leah Marie Spessard; one stepson, Leon L. Spessard; two sisters, A. Marie Coldsmith and Hazel Beam; three brothers, Paul C. Coldsmith, D. Beattie Coldsmith, and Edgar F. Coldsmith; one grandson; and two step-grandsons.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Darryl Zoller and the Rev. Robert S. Barton will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 and Thursday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Harold B. Spessard Sr.
SMITHSBURG - Harold B. "Buddy" Spessard Sr., 67, of Waltz Road, died Sunday, Jan. 10, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Dec. 24, 1931, in Greensburg, Md., he was the son of the late David A. and Vada V. Lewis Spessard.
He was employed by Grimm Auto Parts Company, Chewsville, Bester-Long of Hagerstown and R.T. Kline of Frederick, Md.
He is survived by his wife Josephine Chaney Spessard; one son, Harold B. Spessard, Jr., of Hagerstown; and one sister Juanita C. Linton of Hagerstown.
He was preceded in death by one brother, David A. Spessard, Jr.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are by Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg.
Mary J. Stoner
Mary Jane Stoner, 75, of Hagerstown, died Sunday, Jan. 10, 1999, at Ravenwood Lutheran Village.
Born Oct. 14, 1923, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Dollie Stoner.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Jacob Stoner.
She was a member of Hagerstown Church of the Brethren.
She is survived by one daughter, Nancy Jane Ward of Virginia Beach, Va.; one brother, William Stoner of Enola, Pa.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. The Rev. Dean M. Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
