Lillian C. Rodgers
Lillian C. Rodgers, 87, of 246 S. Potomac St., North Holly Place, died Monday, Jan. 4, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Dec. 3, 1911, in Duquesne, Pa., she was the daughter of the late William M. and Florence M. Robinson Kraus.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar C. Rodgers Sr., in 1974.
She had been employed at Mercersburg Shirt Factory in Mercersburg, Pa., Dorbee Manufacturing Co. in Hagerstown and was last employed by E.J. Fennel Co. of Hagerstown.
She was a member of Hagerstown Bible Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Martha R. Buhrman of Hagerstown; two stepdaughters, Mildred Saylor and Louise Erving, both of Hagerstown; one stepson, Marvin G. Rodgers of Hagerstown; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and step grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Jane Getts; and a stepson, Edgar C. Rodgers Jr.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg. The Rev. Dale R. Carver will officiate. Burial will be in Myers Cemetery, Mercersburg.
Viewing will be today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Alton M. DeBold Sr.
MIDDLETOWN, Md. - Alton Mainard DeBold Sr., 79, of 7127 Limestone Lane, died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 1999, at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick, Md.
Born Feb. 21, 1919, in Ashtabula, Ohio, he was the son of the late Albert E. and Ethel Reid DeBold.
He retired as a receiver after 38 years with Giant Food in Washington, D.C. Prior to that he was a milkman for Embassy Dairy, and with Thompson's Dairy in Washington, D.C.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1938 to 1945, and was discharged as a chief pharmacist. He entered the U.S. Coast Guard in 1950 and served as a reservist until his discharge in 1978, retiring with the rank of chief warrant officer.
He was a member of St. Catherine's Roman Catholic Church in Wheaton, Md.
He was a member of Reserve Officers Association.
He is survived by his wife, Vera Clay DeBold; three daughters, Diana L. Toler of Raleigh, N.C., Jacqueline A. Bandy of Middletown and Debra D. Gogolin of Naples, Fla.; two sons, Alton M. DeBold Jr. of Allentown, Pa., and Sterling P. DeBold Sr. of Riverdale, Md.; two sisters, Laura Switzer of Bay City, Mich., and Nadine Hussell of Wallace, W.Va.; three brothers, Milton DeBold of St. Petersburg, Fla., Cecil DeBold of Ashtabula, Ohio, and Donald DeBold of Chicago, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday at noon at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown. The Rev. Keith Boisvert will officiate. Burial will be in Lakemont Memorial Gardens in Davidsonville, Md.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Carroll L. Deener
SANDY HOOK - Carroll Lee Deener, 63, died Saturday, Jan. 2, 1999, at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C.
Born Feb. 6, 1935, in Sandy Hook, he was the son of the late Ainslie C. and Edith Mae Cole Deener.
He was retired from Railway Express, Washington, D.C., as a freight loader.
He was of the Methodist faith.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Ramona Bartlett Deener; one daughter, Carla Lee Jones of Keedysville; one son, Patrick Lynn Deener of Sandy Hook; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, William E. Deener.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Eackles-Spencer Funeral Home, 970 Washington St., Harpers Ferry, W.Va. The Rev. Jim Hamrick will officiate. Burial will be in Brownsville Heights Cemetery, Brownsville, Md.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m.
Ernest O. King Sr.
BRUNSWICK, Md. - Ernest Oscar King Sr., 87, of 7 S. Dayton Ave., died Saturday, Jan. 2, 1999, at his home.
Born Sept. 9, 1911, in Frederick, Md., he was the son of the late Oscar Richard and Annie Elizabeth Gibbons King.
He was retired from Washington Terminal, Washington, D.C., after 35 years as an electrician.
He was a member of First Baptist Church at Brunswick.
He was a member of Brunswick Ambulance Company, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Brunswick Senior Citizens, and Frederick County Society of Model Railroading.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Pauline Ayres King; one daughter, Gloria Jean Hollar of Jefferson, Md.; one son, the Rev. Ernest O. King Jr., of Savannah, Ga.; four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Brunswick. The Rev. Daniel T. Spiker and the Rev. Ken Stalls will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road, Brunswick. The funeral home will be open today from 9 a.m.

Goldie L. Sanders
REISTERSTOWN, Md. - Goldie L. Lowman Sanders, of Cherrywood Healthcare Centre, Reisterstown, and formerly of Williamsport, died Monday, Jan. 4, 1999.
Born in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late Frank Leslie and Jennie Virginia McCauley Lowman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard E. Sanders.
She was once employed by Celanese Corporation, Cumberland, Md.
She is survived by one daughter, Dorothy Taylor Stokvis of Timonium, Md.; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Lemmon Funeral Home of Dulaney Valley, 10 W. Padonia Road, Timonium-Cockeysville. The Rev. Jennifer McKenna will officiate. Burial will be in Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.

Clara B. Provost
MIDLAND, Mich. - Clara Bell Provost, 72, formerly of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., died Saturday, Jan. 2, 1999, at her home.
Born June 5, 1926, in Harpers Ferry, she was the daughter of the late Charles Ellis Sr., and Marjorie Irene Longerbeam Bell.
She was retired from M&S Cafe, Midland, as a waitress.
She attended Gospel Chapel Assembly of God Church, Harpers Ferry.
She was a member of Women of Moose, Midland.
She is survived by two sons, Albert Provost and Mader Provost, both of Midland; five sisters, Thelma Kirk, Dorothy Bell, Shirley Gearing and Carol Mizerek, all of Bolivar, W.Va., and Helen Wyndham of Orlando, Fla.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Virginia Bell, Louise Blasi, and Ruth Hoover; and one brother, Charles E. Bell, Jr.
Funeral services will be Friday at 7 p.m. at Eackles-Spencer Funeral Home, 970 Washington St., Harpers Ferry. The Rev. James Smith will officiate.
There will be no visitation.
