JOSEPH J. KADY
KEYSER, W.Va. - Joseph J. Kady, 84, of 335 South E Street, Keyser, died Thursday, Dec. 25, 1997, at the Heartland of Keyser Nursing Home.
Born Dec. 13, 1913, in Keyser, he was the son of the late William B. and Regina (Dorsey) Kady.
Mr. Kady was a retired national sales manager for the British Petroleum Co. (SOHIO). He was Keyser city judge and a former Keyser city councilman.
He was a member of the Church of the Assumption; charter member and past Grand Knight of Assumption Council 10545, Knights of Columbus; member of Chief Justice Assembly, Fourth Degree, Knights of Columbus; and member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge 662.
Surviving are his wife, Mary P. (Meadows) Kady; one son, Patrick Joseph Kady and wife Annette M., Brentwood, Calif.; one daughter, Mary Jo Ana Demme and husband Anthony F., West Covina, Calif.; five grandchildren, Anthony F. Demme Jr., Karen M. Demme, Shelly A. Demme, Meghan M. Kady and Shannon M. Kady; and one sister, Elenora K. McHenry and husband James L., Keyser.
Friends will be received at the Markwood-McKenzie Funeral Home, Keyser, on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of the Assumption on Monday at 10 a.m. with Father Ivan M. Lebar, T.O.R., officiating.
Interment will be in the St. Thomas Cemetery, Keyser.
A Christian Wake Service will be held at the funeral home on Sunday at 7 p.m.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Knights of Columbus, or to the donor's favorite charity.
MABLE JANE KAHL
ACCIDENT - Mable Jane Kahl, 79, of 2849 Bumble Bee Road, Accident, died Monday, Nov. 24, 1997, at Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville.
Born Aug. 3, 1918, at Red House, she was a daughter of the late Verner O. and Jane (Mace) Bowman. Mrs. Kahl was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, the ladies aid, and choir. She was an organizing member of Tableland Milk Producers, Oakland, and held the office of vice-president until her retirement as well as a position on the board of directors. She also was a member of the Garrett County Farm Bureau.
Mrs. Kahl is survived by her husband, Harold R. Kahl, Sr., a son, Harold R. "J.R." Kahl, Jr., and wife, Ronnie, Huntingtown; a sister, Grace King, Oakland; a granddaughter, Brenda Rae Sipe and husband, John; a step-granddaughter, Shawn Sickle and husband, Jim; and two step-great-grandchildren, Ryan Michael and Kayla Sickle.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, McHenry, on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted at Zion Lutheran Church on Friday at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Wilfred Karsten and the Rev. James A. Oester officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The body will be taken to the church at 9:30 a.m. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to Zion Building Fund.
THOMAS R. KAHL
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Thomas R. Kahl, 62, died Tuesday, April 1, 1997.
Born Dec. 24, 1934, in Johnstown, Pa., he was the son of the late Robert and Alice (Raab) Kahl.
He also was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Hahn, August 5, 1993, and one brother, Robert J., Jr.
Surviving are his wife, Susann Jameson, State College; one son, John Edward, Atlanta, Ga.; one daughter, Marie Hahn Rauter, Morris Township, N.J.; one sister, Mary Alice Margolis, Baltimore, MD; one brother William H., Washington, D.C.; and one grandson, Thomas Edward, Atlanta, Ga.
WILLIAM R. KAHL
GRANTSVILLE - William Ray "Billy" Kahl, 30, of 2241 Pigs Ear Road, Grantsville, died Friday, Sept. 12, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Jan. 22, 1967, in Oakland, he was a son of Hazel (Kahl) Self and stepson of Earl Self, Flintstone.
He also is survived by a brother, Truman W. Kahl, Accident; two sisters, Trudy M. Kahl, Cumberland, and Donna R. Self, Flintstone; maternal grandfather, Raymond Kahl, Grantsville; a niece, Amber Izzett; two nephews, William Izzett and Erik Kahl; aunt and uncle, Earl and Cerina Kahl, Accident; and great aunt, Cora Fazenbaker, Frostburg.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at Zion Lutheran Church, Accident, on Sunday at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Wilfred Karsten officiating.
Interment will be in the church cemetery.
CARLDINE A. KALAR
LEXINGTON, Ky. - Carldine A. Kalar, 63, of Lexington, passed away Sunday, Aug. 3, 1997, in Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington.
Born April 1, 1934, in Vindex, Md., she was the daughter of the late Carl Paul and Virgie (Tasker) Nelson. She also was preceded in death by her husband Forrest Kalar.
Surviving are one son, Dale E. Kalar, Clarksburg, W.Va.; one daughter, Alwona Carlin, Lexington; two brothers, James Nelson and Dempsey Nelson, both of Kitzmiller, Md.; three sisters, Loretta Stark, Keyser, W.Va., Helen Sweitzer, McCole, Md., and Yvonne Feldon, LaVale, Md.; four grandchildren; and one great- grandchild.
Friends will be received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, Kitzmiller, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home chapel on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Joseph Phillips officiating.
At Mrs. Kalar's request, her body will be cremated.
PREM L. KANSAL
CUMBERLAND - Prem L. Kansal, 62, of 1054 Richwood Avenue, Cumberland, died Monday, June 30, 1997, at Memorial Hospital.
Born March 27, 1935, in India, she was the daughter of Raghbiv Garg, India, and the late Krishua Garg.
In addition to her father, surviving are her husband, Raj Kansal; three daughters, Vinita Gupta and husband Dr. Sunil K. Gupta, Cumberland, Shashi Gupta, at home, and Seema Garg and husband Devinder Garg, Yucca Valley, Calif.; a son, Vipin Kansal and wife Ekta, Wilkes Barre, Pa.; five grandchildren, Sabrina Gupta, Sumeet Gupta, Nitin Garg, Mayuri Garg, and Neha Kansal; and four brothers, Suvider Garg and Rajinder Garg, both of Northern Virginia, Vijay Garg, Canada, and Suresh Garg, India.
Private services were held on Tuesday at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland.
MARVIN J. KAPLON
CUMBERLAND - Marvin Julius Kaplon, 78, of Holland Street, Cumberland, died Friday, March 28, 1997, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born July 25, 1918, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Robert Kaplon and the late Goldie (Silverman) Kaplon. He also was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen (Marx) Kaplon; and a son, Gary Kaplon.
Mr. Kaplon was the owner and operator of Kaplon's Accounting Services. He was a member of B'er Chayim Temple; B'ani Brith; and Cumberland Lions Club. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin University, Washington, D.C.
Surviving are his wife, Toby (Mendelson) Kaplon, Cumberland; two stepsons, Jay P. Kaplon and wife Nancy, Cumberland, and Dr. Alan Kaplon Jaffe and wife Claire, Washington, D.C.; a stepdaughter, Ferne Kaplon Jaffe and husband Dr. Alfred Jaffe, Potomac; six step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Sunday at 1 p.m. with Rabbi Scott Gurdin officiating.
Interment will be in the East View Cemetery.

MINNA K. KASCHEL
CUMBERLAND - Minna Katharina Kaschel, 93, of Cumberland, died Thursday, April 17, 1997, at the Cumberland Nursing Home.
Born Nov. 15, 1903, in Kassel, Germany, she was the daughter of the late August and Katharina Moeller. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Josef Kaschel, in 1943; three brothers; and two sisters.
Mrs. Kaschel was a retired clerk for Catalog Sales Co. She was Lutheran by faith.
Surviving are one daughter, Helga K. Athey and husband George, Cumberland; two grandchildren, Steven Athey, Norfolk, Va., and Karen K. Tomasello, Berlin; and three great-grandchildren, Jeremy Athey, and Marco and Evan Tomasello.
Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m.
Services will then be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Stephen F. Yelovich officiating.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Cumberland.
MARGARET E. KASTNER
CUMBERLAND - Margaret Ellen Kastner, 56, of 15710 Winslow St., SW, Cumberland, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 1997 at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Sept. 5, 1941, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Bernard F. Coyle, Sr. and the late Marie A. (Shannon) Coyle. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas E. Coyle.
Mrs. Kastner was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Cresaptown.
Surviving are her husband, John Richard Kastner, Cumberland; three daughters, Malia A. Dierken and husband Frederick, Bel Air, Md., Juliann M. Joyner and husband Joseph L., Wilson, N.C., and Miss Melanie L. Kastner, Cumberland; two sisters, Mary L. McDermott, Stamford, Conn., and Martha A. Pirovolidis, Falston; two brothers, Bernard F. Coyle II, Cumberland, and Richard J. Coyle, LaVale; two grandchildren; and an aunt, Martha Shannon, LaVale.
At Mrs. Kastner's request, she was cremated at the Cumberland Crematory. There will be a memorial service for friends and family on Wednesday, Oct. 8, at 10 a.m. at the St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Cresaptown, with the Father Robert McCreary O.F.M., CAP officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Margaret's name. The family wishes to give special thanks to all the nurses and staff at Sacred Heart Hospital for the wonderful care given to her at her time of need. Arrangements were made by the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, 404 Decatur St., Cumberland.
HAZEL P. KEEDY
BOWIE - Hazel P. Keedy, of Bowie, formerly of Frostburg, died Sunday, June 29, 1997.
Mrs. Keedy was a retired school teacher.
She was the beloved wife of Harry Keedy, and the loving mother of two daughters, Faye Shockro, Bowie, and Anne E. Keedy, Lanham; and the loving mother of one son, Frank J. Keedy, Bowie; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Evans Funeral Home, Bowie, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. only.
Graveside services and interment will be at the Frostburg Memorial Park, Frostburg, on Tuesday at 1 p.m.
