JOSEPH W. KEEFE JR.
BRADENTON, Fla. - Joseph W. Keefe Jr., 78, of Bradenton, died Thursday, Jan. 9, 1997, at home.
Born in Jenningston, W.Va., Mr. Keefe moved to Bradenton in 1980. He retired from the Pittsburgh Plate Glass, Cumberland, Md., after 23 years of service. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. He was a member of the American Legion Post 13, Cumberland. He was a US Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 984th Air Engineer Squadron and 566th Air Service.
He is survived by his wife Kathryn; two daughters, Jane A. Prytherch and Mary U. Aylor; two step daughters, Bonnie Jean Michael and Kathy Lynn Wood; two sons, Joseph W. Keefe III and Thomas P. Keefe; two sisters, Ruth Grimm and Gleavic Knecht; seven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
There will be a graveside service at the Grantsville Cemetery on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. with the American Legion Post 13 doing an honor guard service.
HELENE GERTRUDE KEGG
CUMBERLAND - Helene Gertrude Kegg, 79, formally of 536 Fairview Avenue, Cumberland, died Friday, May 30, 1997, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Feb. 11, 1918, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late George William and Josephine (Chadwick) Hartung.
Mrs. Kegg was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church.
Surviving are her husband, J. Suter Kegg, Cumberland; one son, John ``Jack'' S. Kegg Jr., Cumberland; one daughter, Susan Farrell, Cumberland; three grandchildren, Timothy Farrell, Andrew Farrell, and Jennifer Farrell, all of Cumberland.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Monday from 9 to 10 a.m.
A memorial service will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Stephen F. Yelovich officiating.
The ashes will be interred in Maryland Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap.
PEARL KEITH
CUMBERLAND - Pearl Deffinbaugh Keith, 74, of Cumberland, died Thursday, June 19, 1997, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Oct. 23, 1922, in Oldtown, she was the daughter of the late George D. and Corrine (Steckman) Deffinbaugh. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph H. Keith.
Surviving are one brother, Ronald Deffinbaugh, Hagerstown; four sisters, Fern Kelly, Cumberland, Freda Delsignore, Cresaptown, Joyce Conduitt, Cumberland, and Nyla Cooper, Cumberland; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Leasure-Stein Funeral Home, 230 Baltimore Ave., Cumberland, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be at the funeral home on Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Reilly officiating.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Cumberland.
Pallbearers will be Vincent Costello, Scott Welsh, Greg Warren, Brian Deffinbaugh, Len Deffinbaugh, and Larry Deffinbaugh.
FREDERICK L. KELLER
WESTERNPORT - Frederick L. ``Jack'' Keller, 62, a 37-year resident of the Western Maryland Center, Hagerstown, formerly of Westernport, died Wednesday, April 9, 1997, at the Western Maryland Center, where he was loved and appreciated by the staff and doctors.
Born Oct. 30, 1934, in Westernport, he was the son of the late Wilson T. Keller and the late Ruth E. (Raines) Keller. He also was preceded in death by four brothers, James, Patrick, Eugene and Raymond Keller; and one sister, Louise Pattison.
Mr. Keller formerly worked at Kenny's Market and Malc's Service Station in Westernport.
Surviving are one brother, Wilson E. Keller, Westernport; and two sisters, Betty Bowley, Laurel, and Geraldine Wilkinson, Westernport.
Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Joseph Jarrett officiating.
Interment will be in the Philos Cemetery.
GLEN L. KELLER
ACCIDENT - Glen Luther Keller, 79, of 39 Keller Road, Accident, died Thursday, July 24, 1997, at the Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville.
Born Jan. 8, 1918, in Accident, he was the son of the late Luther and Christina (Beitzel) Keller. He also was preceded in death by one daughter, Marjorie Fratz.
Mr. Keller was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and was a bass player for the Accident Community Band. He was a US Army and Air Corps veteran of World War II, he also was a bass player in the Army band, stationed in Amarillo, Texas. He was a member of the Grantsville Post 214, American Legion. He also was an equipment operator for the Garrett County Roads Department and a farmer.
Surviving are his wife Helen Irene (Coddington) Keller; one son, George Keller, Accident; one daughter, Linda Burch, Accident; one sister, Beulah Rush, Accident; and four grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, McHenry, on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church on Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Roland E. Nairn III, officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to services.
Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Graveside military rites will be accorded by Grantsville Post 214, American Legion.
Expressions of sympathy may be directed to the St. Paul's Building Fund.
NYTA S. KELLER
CUMBERLAND - Nyta Shaffer Keller, 79, of Washington Street, Cumberland, died Thursday, Oct. 23, 1997 at Memorial Hospital.
Born July 31, 1918 in Keyser, W.Va., was the daughter of the late Chester Ward Shaffer and the late Emily (Cook) Shaffer. She also was preceded in death by her husband, the late Philip E. Keller.
Mrs. Keller was a former assistant manager of The National Store in Cumberland and Keller Insurance Agency. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and McKinley Chapter #12 O.E.S.
Surviving are two sisters, Mary Higgs, Cumberland, and Betty Ullery and husband Wallace, Cumberland; three nieces, Patricia Royce and husband, Larry, Cumberland, Rebecca Carpenter and husband Bruce, Annandale, Va., and Jane Jenkins, Cumberland; two nephews, Dr. Terry Williams, Cumberland, and Craig S. Ullery and wife JoEllen, Novato, Calif.; great-niece, Pam Kusserow and husband, the Rev. Kurt, Latrobe, Pa.; two great-nephews, Ian Mathew Ullery, Novato, and Nicholas Jenkins, Cumberland; and a great-great-niece and nephew, Abby and Ben Kusserow, Latrobe.

RAYMOND LEROY KELLER, SR.
KEYSER, W.Va. - Raymond Leroy Keller Sr., 70, of Route 2, Box 49B, Keyser, died Saturday, May 31, 1997, at the Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser.
Born Feb. 18, 1927, at Beryl, he was a son of the late James H. and Isabelle (Metcalf) Keller. He also was preceded in death by one sister, Dema Wertman; and one step-granddaughter, Stephanie Dvonne Rotruck.
Mr. Keller was a retired material supervisor for the CSX Railroad with 44 years of service. He later was employed in the maintenance department with the Mineral County Courthouse and was a supervisor for the Fountain Public Water Service.
He attended the Headsville United Methodist Church, Headsville. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a member of the Nancy Hanks Post No. 3518 VFW, and the Boyce-Houser Post No. 41 American Legion, both of Keyser.
Surviving are his wife H. Fern (Snyder) Keller; three daughters, Sueann Faith Keller, Keyser, Iona Raye "Sue" Keller, Morgantown, and Mary Frances Nash, McCoole; one son, Raymond Leroy Keller Jr., Morgantown; two stepsons, Greg K. Rotruck and Hal F. Rotruck, both of Keyser; two brothers, James H. Keller Jr., and Richard W. Keller, both of Keyser; two sisters, Betty Maquire, Cumberland, and Lois Ann Sanchez, Staunton, Va.; three step-granchildren, Robin Lynn Rotruck, Gregory K. Rotruck II and Harold F. Rotruck II, all of Keyser; former son-in-law, Craig A. Kesner, Keyser; and a godchild, Kelli Robinette, Carpendale.
Friends will be received at the Rotruck-Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Sue Culbertson Jarrett and the Rev. Thomas Anderson officiating.
Interment will be in the Headsville Cemetery, Headsville.
Military graveside honors will be accorded.
MARY F. KELLEY
LONACONING - Mary Frances Kelley, 87, formerly of 39 High St., Lonaconing, died Thursday, April 3, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born July 20, 1909, in Lonaconing, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Fitzpatrick and Mary (Nolan) Fitzpatrick. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Earl J. Kelley, in March 1981.
Mrs. Kelley was a homemaker. She belonged to St. Mary's Catholic Church, Lonaconing.
Surviving are two sons, James T. Kelley and wife Gilberta, Gaithersburg, and John E. Kelley and wife June, Newark, Del.; four daughters, Rose Mary Hitt, Piedmont, W.Va., Patricia Moon and husband Donald R., Savage River Road, Swanton, Carole Michael and husband Addis, Sheffield Lake, Ohio, and Kathleen Kelley, Lonaconing; two brothers, Daniel Fitzpatrick and wife Louise, Lonaconing, and Frank Picciani, Florida; one sister, Lanora Beckman, Olympia, Wash.; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
At the family's request the funeral services and interment will be private, with Father Jim Hannon officiating.
The Fredlock Funeral Home, Piedmont, W.Va., is in charge of arrangements.
MARY JO KENNEY
FROSTBURG - Mary Jo Kenney, 84, of Washington Street, died Monday, April 7, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born March 24, 1913, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late Peter T. and Cecelia J. (Broderick) Kenney. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas J. Kenney and Stephen J. Kenney Sr.; four sisters, Madeline Liller, Katherine Hayden, Mildred Brady and Geraldine Thomas.
She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. She had her nurse's training at Mount Alto, Washington. She did private practice in Frostburg in the earlier years. She was a U.S. Army nurse during wartime in the European Theatre and was a veteran's nurse through the rest of her career. Prior to settling in Frostburg, she was in Reno, Nev., and Martinsburg, W.Va.
Surviving are one brother, Robert J. Kenney and wife Lillian, Frostburg; two sisters-in-law, Anna Mary Kenney, Eckhart, and Helen E. Kenney, Frostburg; one brother-in-law, William Hayden, Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The wake service will be held on Tuesday at 8:30 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael's Church on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Father William Moody as celebrant.
Interment will be at St. Michael's Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be accorded by American Legion Farrady Post 24.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael's Church.
ROGER A. KEPLINGER SR.
MOOREFIELD, W.Va. - Roger Allen Keplinger Sr., 50, of P.O. Box 877, Moorefield, died on Monday, Sept. 22, 1997, at Grant Memorial Hospital, Petersburg.
Born Sept. 30, 1946, in Petersburg, he was a son of the late Carl E. Keplinger and Willard (Mayle) Keplinger.
Mr. Keplinger was employed by Wampler Foods, Inc. of Moorefield. He graduated from Hampshire High School, Class of 1967.
Surviving are his wife, Shelia (Nixon) Keplinger, whom he married on Nov. 15, 1980; one son, Roger A. Keplinger Jr., at home; two daughters, Tyra Lynne Keplinger, Jacksonville, Fla., and Nikole Lynn Keplinger, at home; and two sisters, Sandy Keplinger, Short Gap, and Vicky Keplinger, Cumberland.
Friends will be received at the Schaeffer Funeral Home, Petersburg, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Ted Osgood officiating.
Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Petersburg.
