WILLIAM M. KEYSER
CUMBERLAND - William "Bill" M. Keyser, 90, of 8 Broadway Circle, Cumberland, died Saturday, March 8, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Oct. 15, 1906, in West Virginia, he was the son of the late Thomas R. Keyser and the late Nannie M. (Hawkins) Keyser. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Viola (Raines) Keyser; and two sisters, Geraldine Duffy and Virginia Dickinson.
Mr. Keyser was a retired prior yard foreman after 48 years. He was a member of the United Transportation Union Lodge 600 and Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen.
Surviving are two sisters, Betty Scollick and husband Dave, Cumberland, and Doris Lee Keyser, Cumberland; one brother, Eugene Keyser and wife Shirley, Cumberland; one step grandson, Larry McKenzie and wife Joyce, Centerville, Va.; and one great-grandson, Conner McKenzie, Centerville.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with Chaplain Lewis Twigg officiating.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
STATEN R. KIDWELL
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Staten Richard Kidwell, son of the late Staten Wilson Kidwell, died Wednesday, June 25, 1997, in Memphis.
He was born on Dec. 13, 1932, in Midland, Md., and spent the first seven years of his life there until his father passed away. He was raised and attended school in Arlington, Va.
He is survived by his mother Jeannette Jackson Kidwell Thompson; one sister, Shirley Kidwell Saunders, King, N.C.; two aunts, Malverda Kidwell Metcalf, Westernport, Md., and Frances Kidwell Clayton, Mount Solon, Va.; one niece; and one nephew.
Burial was in King, N.C.
KATHRYN M. KIFER
AURORA, W.Va. - Kathryn M. Kifer, 63, of Route 1 Box 382, Aurora, died Monday, Nov. 10, 1997, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown.
Born May 12, 1934, in Cross, she was the daughter of the late Hiram and Hilda (Divelbliss) Baker. She also was preceded in death by her husband, William "Scooch" Kifer; a son, Larry Kifer; and a sister, Betty Muir.
Mrs. Kifer was a homemaker. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Post No. 71 American Legion, Oakland. She was Brethren by faith.
Surviving are a daughter, Nancy Poling and husband Roger, Aurora; two brothers, John Baker and wife Shirley, Cross, and Roger L. Baker and wife Wanda, New Creek; two sisters, Leona Logsdon and husband Harold, Westernport, Md., and Rayma Fickes, Moscow Mills, Md.; three grandchildren, Laura Poling, Oakland, Md., Kim Poling and Anna Poling, both of Aurora; and a great-grandson, Eugene Wade Root III, Oakland.
Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, Md., on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Stanley Waybright officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland.
NELLIE L. KIFER
PAW PAW, W.Va. - Nellie Louise Hanrahan Kifer, 82, of Layton, Utah, formerly of Paw Paw, died on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 1997, in Layton.
Born Jan. 25, 1915, in Paw Paw, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Joseph and Erma (Doyle) Hanrahan. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Chester E. Kifer.
Mrs. Kifer was a member of St. Charles Mission, Paw Paw. She was a member of the Paw Paw Volunteer Fire Company Womens Auxiliary, the Harley Bohrer American Legion Post No. 128 Ladies Auxiliary, and Enon Homemakers Club, all in Paw Paw. Eight years ago, she moved to Layton to be with her granddaughter.
Surviving are two granddaughters, Charon A. Mazloomi, Layton, and Sara L. Pietromonaco, Fayetteville, Ga.; one brother, John Joseph Hanrahan, Washington, D.C.; two great-granddaughters; two great-grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside committal services will be conducted at St. Mary's Cemetery, Oldtown, Md., on Thursday, Dec. 4, 1997, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Father John S. Ledford officiating.
Arrangements are being handled by the Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
RALPH C. `PAUL' KIFER
HYNDMAN, Pa. - Ralph C. "Paul" Kifer, 66, of Hyndman, formerly of Eastlake and Mentor, Ohio, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 1997, at Lakewest Hospital, Willoughby, Ohio.
He was born June 24, 1931, at Berlin, Md., a foster son of the late Leoda G. (Divelbiss) and Christopher O. Shaffer.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Nancy L. (Garrett) Kifer; a son, Ralph C. Kifer Jr. and wife, Glenda, Oldtown; a daughter, Connie S. Kifer, Mantua, Ohio; a granddaughter, Alexsis F. Kifer; three brothers, Charles Kifer and Willard Kifer, Mount Storm, W.Va., and Alvie Kifer, Columbiana, Ohio; two sisters, Eleanor Carlisle, Wiley Ford, W.Va., and Elizabeth Humbertson, Cumberland; a foster brother, Carl D. Shaffer, Fairhope, Pa.
Mr. Kifer retired in 1981 from the G M Fisher Body Plant in Euclid, Ohio, and was the former owner of the Dinner Bell Restaurant in Hyndman.
He served with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Korea during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of the Schellsburg V.F.W. Post #4440 and the Hyndman Rod and Gun Club.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Harry T. Ryan officiating. Interment will be in Hyndman Cemetery.
Graveside military honors will be accorded by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.
C. MELVIN KIGHT
OAKLAND - C. Melvin Kight, 87, of LaPorte, Ind., formerly of Oakland, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 1997, at the Mountain View Terrace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, LaPorte.
Born April 4, 1909, in Cross, W.Va., he was a son of the late William C. Kight and Sarah (Ours) Kight.
Mr. Kight owned and operated Kight's Dry Cleaners in Oakland for many years. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church; past president of the Oakland Rotary Club; Past Master of Oakland Lodge 192 AF & AM; member of Scottish Rite Bodies; member of Garrett Lodge 113 Knights of Pythias; and the first recipient of the Oakland Citizen of the Year Award.
Surviving are his wife, Helen (Umstot) Kight; one son, Jack M. Kight and wife Barb, LaPorte; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, on Saturday from 3 to 6 p.m.
A Masonic Memorial Service will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 6 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at St. Paul's United Methodist Church on Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Lawrence Sherwood and the Rev. Roger Harrison officiating.
Interment will be in Garrett County Memorial Gardens.
IVA E. KIGHT
HAGERSTOWN - Iva E. (Watson) Kight, 82, of the Avalon Manor Nursing Home, Hagerstown, formerly of Jones St., Piedmont, W.Va., died Saturday, July 12, 1997, at the nursing home.
Born June 18, 1915, in Bloomington, she was the daughter of the late John E. Watson and Minnie M. (Tranum) Watson. She also was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Kight; one daughter, Anna M. Kight; two brothers; and two sisters.
Mrs. Kight was Presbyterian by faith, and retired from Westvaco Corp. with 43 years of service.
Surviving are two sisters, Bonnie Porter, Westernport, and Peggy McFadden, Barberton, Ohio; one son-in-law, Paul W. Bailey, Hagerstown; two grandchildren, Paula and John Bailey, Hagerstown; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Fredlock Funeral Home, Piedmont, on Wednesday from noon to 1 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. John Nurnberger officiating.
Interment will be in the Restlawn Cemetery, LaVale.
WILLIAM E. KIGHT
BOCA RATON, Fla. - William E. Kight, 84, of 23343 Blue Water Circle, Boca Raton, died Dec. 5, 1997, in the Edgewater Point Nursing Center.
Born in Elk Garden, W.Va., he was the son of the late William H. Kight and Mae (Winning) Kight.
Mr. Kight was a member of the Allegany High School Class of 1929 and was graduated from Washington College, Chestertown, Md., majoring in chemistry. He was formerly employed by the Celanese Corp. and Allegany Ballistics Laboratory. He was a member of the St. Stephens Lutheran Church, Pompano Beach.
Surviving are his wife, Ellen (Hetzel) Kight; a stepson, Eric B. Fable, Stone Harbor, N.J.; two sisters, Louise K. Rice, Annapolis, Md., and Betty Jean Hansrote, Colorado Springs, Colo.; a brother, G. Byron Kight, Sun City Center; and a number of nieces and nephews.
CONNIE F. KIMBLE
KEYSER, W.Va. - Connie F. Kimble, 26, of Route 1, Box 167, Keyser, died Saturday, Feb. 22, 1997, at the Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser.
Born Nov. 29, 1970, at Baltimore, she was the daughter of Edgar P. and Mary L. (Dawson) Kimble, of Keyser.
Miss Kimble was a waitress at the Hagenbuch Restaurant, Wiley Ford, and the Hamburger Haven Restaurant, McCoole, Md. She was a 1989 graduate of Frankfort High School, Short Gap.
Surviving in addition to her parents are two brothers, Edward P. Kimble and Gary L. Kimble, both of Keyser; one sister, Linda K. McKenzie and husband Edward, Keyser; one nephew, Nathan W. McKenzie, Keyser; and several aunts and uncles.
Friends will be received at the Rotruck-Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Fountain United Brethren in Christ Church on Tuesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Michael Dean officiating.
Interment will be in the Mount Zion Cemetery, Keyser.
JESSE L. KIMBLE JR.
BARTON - Jesse Lee Kimble Jr., 74, of 19106 S. Railroad St., Barton, died Wednesday, April 9, 1997, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Dec. 17, 1922, in Barton, he was the son of the late Jesse L. Kimble Sr. and the late Alleda (Stephens) Kimble. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Karl Kimble; and a sister, Leona Kirkwood.
Mr. Kimble retired from Westvaco after 36 years of service. Prior to that he worked at the Celanese Fibers Corp. He was a veteran of World War II, and a member of Queens Point VFW Post 6775; Victory Post 155 American Legion; and Barton Senior Citizens.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Lois E. (Fazenbaker) Kimble; two sons, Clarence L. Kimble and wife Linda, Barton, and Bruce A. Kimble and wife Lynn, Charleston, W.Va.; two grandchildren, Jenny Kimble and Cody Kimble, both of Barton; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Kimble was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Friends will be received at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Queens Point VFW will hold a memorial service at the chapel on Friday at 7:15 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the Boal Chapel on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Harold Malone officiating.
Interment will be in the Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moscow Mills. Full military honors will be accorded at the graveside by members of veterans organizations.
