EVELYN P. BROOKS
CUMBERLAND - Evelyn P. Brooks, 89, of Henderson Avenue, Cumberland, died Tuesday, March 25, 1997, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Dec. 27, 1907, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Anna E. (Wagoner) Glantzer.
She also was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer L. Brooks, in 1972; two sons, William Brooks and Elmer L. Brooks Jr.; four brothers; and one sister.
Mrs. Brooks was retired from the Tri-State Discount Center and was a former employee of the Blue White Tower Restaurant and the Queen City Station Restaurant. She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church.
Surviving are one daughter, Shirley Evelyn Boghosian and husband Herant, Anthony, N.M.; one daughter-in-law, Pearline Brooks, Hyndman, Pa.; two sisters, Anna McCrorie, Gaithersburg, and Bertha Clark, Los Angeles, Calif.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home Friday at 10 a.m. with Pastor Stephen F. Yelovich officiating.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
ALLEN L. BROTEMARKLE
CUMBERLAND - Allen Lee Brotemarkle, 73, of 326 Pear St., Cumberland, died Thursday, April 17, 1997, at Memorial Hospital.
Born in Cumberland, Sept. 1, 1923, he was the son of the late Ralph R. and Nora Margaret (Hendrickson) Brotemarkle.
Mr. Brotemarkle was the retired manager of RPS Auto Parts, a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II, a member of the Zion Reformed United Church of Christ, and the Frostburg Bobcat Club.
Surviving are his wife, Jean A. (Moore) Brotemarkle; one daughter, Lynne Winner and husband Robert L., Langhorne, Pa.; and one nephew.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Saturday 7 to 9 p.m. and on Sunday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Rosemary Baumgardner officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
JAMES H. BROTEMARKLE
CUMBERLAND - James Henry Brotemarkle, 95, of Cumberland, formerly of Bowmans Addition, died at the Allegany County Nursing Home.
Born July 18, 1902, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Harry W. Brotemarkle and Mary K. Hinkle.
He also was preceded in death by his wife, the Rev. Elva C. (Weller) Johnson Brotemarkle; one brother; two sisters; and two sons, James Brotemarkle and William R. Brotemarkle Sr.
Mr. Brotemarkle was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Mr. Brotemarkle was the retired owner and operator of Brotemarkle Wall Papering Service. He was a member and co-founder, along with his wife, of the Grace Community Church, Valley Road. He was also an avid fisherman and hunter.
Surviving are three daughters, Ruth Johnson Eck and husband Donald, Newark, Del., the Rev. Florence Shewbridge, Rawlings, and Sharon F. Keefer and husband James, Cumberland; one daughter-in-law, Phyllis Brotemarkle, Rawlings; five grandchildren, William R. Brotemarkle, James H. Brotemarkle, Nancy Shirey, Donald B. Eck Jr., and Lois Drell; and several great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Rodney L. Casteel Sr. officiating.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park.
PAUL B. BROTEMARKLE
WILEY FORD, W.Va. - Paul Bryan Brotemarkle, 30, of Wiley Ford, died Friday, Dec. 12, 1997, at Memorial Hospital.
Born July 14, 1967, in Cumberland, he was the son of Charles A. Brotemarkle, Pinto, and Betty (Shreve) Brotemarkle, Carpendale.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Paul and Goldie Brotemarkle; maternal grandmother, Minnie Shreve; and two aunts, Margaret Brooks and Jenny Shreve.
Mr. Brotemarkle was employed at the Cumberland Pasta Company. He was an avid pool and shuffleboard player.
In addition to his parents, surviving are his wife, Lisa (Hall) Brotemarkle; one daughter, Tonya Brotemarkle; two sons, Charles and Scott Brotemarkle, all at home; two sisters, Denise Payne and husband, Zak, Annette Brotemarkle and friend, Richard Dorsey, all of Carpendale; grandfather, Daniel Shreve, Keyser, W.Va.; three nieces, Nicki, Chrissy, Ashli; one nephew, Colten; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Margurite and Walter Hall; three brothers-in-law, Mitchell, Roger and Greg Hall, all of Wiley Ford; and an aunt; several uncles; and cousins.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Paul E. Dietz officiating.
Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
REBECCA I. BROTEMARKLE
CUMBERLAND - Rebecca Irene Long Brotemarkle, 83, of Cumberland, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 1997, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Jan. 17, 1914, in Saltillo, Pa., she was the daughter of the late George F. and Clara (Snyder) Long.
She also was preceded in death by her husband, James Leslie Brotemarkle Sr., in 1958.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Brotemarkle was a retired nurse's aide from the Cumberland Nursing Home. She was a former employee of the Ali Ghan Shrine Club, and was a member of Kingsley United Methodist Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Ellen G. Brotemarkle, Edna I. Brotemarkle, and Diana E. (Brotemarkle) Kifer, all of Cumberland; one son, James L. Brotemarkle Jr. and wife Paulette, Cumberland; one stepdaughter, Marlene (Brotemarkle) Glaze, W.Va.; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
At Mrs. Brotemarkle's request, there will be no visitation.
A graveside service will be conducted at Sunset Memorial Park on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Richard H. Jewell officiating.
The Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, is in charge of the arrangements.
GLEN C. BITTINGER
PIEDMONT, W.Va. - Glen C. Bittinger, 60, of 38 E. Fairview St., Piedmont, died Saturday, March 1, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
Born Aug. 7, 1936, in Bloomington, Md., he was the son of Helen (O'Brien) Bittinger, Oakland, Md., and the late Edward Bittinger.
He also was preceded in death by one daughter, JoAnn Logan Hanlin.
Mr. Bittinger was a retired construction worker from Local 616 having worked at Carl Belt Inc.
He was Methodist by faith and was an avid gardener.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 37 years, Wilma (Mayhew) Bittinger; two daughters, Gloria Harman, Frostburg, Md.; Janet Bray, Kitzmiller, Md.; one stepson, Vernon Cornett, Cumberland, Ky.; two brothers, Richard Bittinger and wife, Vonda, Bloomington; James K. Bittinger and wife, Elizabeth, Oakland; one sister, Ethel McKenzie, Keyser; four grandchildren, Joanna Amoroso, Piedmont; Jason Amoroso, Piedmont; Brittany Harman, Frostburg; J.R. Bray, Kitzmiller, Md.; two step grandchildren, Christopher Cornett and Christine Cornett, Cumberland, Ky.; one great-grandson, Alec Jason Amoroso and three step great-grandchildren, Christopher, Heather and Jessica.
Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, Md., on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. William Kady officiating. Interment will be in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
Pallbearers will be Carroll Poland, John Amoroso, Jason Amoroso, J.R. Bray, Norman Mayhew and James Bittinger.

WALDORF - John Clayton Bittinger, 36, of 14865 Poplar Hill Road, Waldorf, died Tuesday, April 29, 1997, at Greenbelt in an automobile accident.
Born Dec. 2, 1961, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of Joseph Cylvon Bittinger, Waldorf, and Sarah Joan (Gardner) Bittinger, Front Royal, Va.
Surviving in addition to his parents are brothers, Dennis Cylvon Bittinger, Clarksville, Tenn., Joseph Rick Bittinger, Laurel, and Gene Audie Bittinger, Harwood; and 10 nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, Lonaconing, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be at the funeral home on Friday, May 2, 1997, at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Donald Webb officiating.
Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Moscow Mills.
EMMA R. BITTNER
HYNDMAN, Pa. - Emma Ronelda Bittner, 75, of Kennells Mills Road, RD 1, Hyndman, died Thursday, Feb. 27, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
Born March 16, 1921, in Southampton Township, Somerset County, she was a daughter of the late Roy E. and Naomi B. (Emerick) Kennell.
She also was preceded in death by two sisters, Idella Lucero and Madeline Dom.
Mrs. Bittner was a member of the Central Christian Church, Hyndman. Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Merle T. Bittner; three brothers, Stanley W. Kennell, Glen Burnie, Md., John W. Kennell and Gerald M. Kennell, both of RD 1, Hyndman; and five sisters, Marybelle E. White, A. Ruth Imler, Alzene L. Sweitzer, Marion E. Romesburg, and Frances F. Troutman, all of RD 1, Hyndman.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with Galen Beitzel, evangelist, officiating.
