FLORENCE G. BENNETT
FLINTSTONE - Florence Garnet Bennett, 79, of Green Ridge Road, Flintstone, died Monday, May 19, 1997, at the Northampton Manor Nursing Home, Frederick.
Born April 10, 1918, at Paw Paw, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Marshall Taylor and Loretta Susan (Largent) Farlow.
She also was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Leo Bennett, on July 5, 1978; one infant son; three brothers, Charles, Robert, and Glen Farlow; and two sisters, Nellie Farris and Eleanor Farlow.
Mrs. Bennett was a retired seamstress with the Lion Manufacturing Co., Everett, Pa.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to William McKinley Smith Post 155, American Legion, Artemas, Pa.
Surviving are one son, Paul Keith Bennett and wife Mary Lou, Columbia; one daughter Constance S. Naylor and husband Lance, Keyser, W.Va.; one brother, Fred Farlow, Lorain, Ohio; two sisters, Helen Cain, Lorain, Ohio, and Ruth White, Shenandoah, Ga.; four grandsons, Kevin D. Bennett, New Windsor, Timothy M. Bennett, Fairmont, W.Va., Brian L. Smith, Keyser, W.Va., and Todd A. Smith, Hanover, Pa.; and five great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, Cumberland, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Fairview Christian Church, Inglesmith, Pa., on Thursday at 1 p.m. with Dr. Lawrence F. Sherwood Jr. officiating.
The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to services.
Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Inglesmith.

MEYERSDALE, Pa. - Florence V. Bennett, 86, of Route 1, Artemas, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 1997, at Meyersdale Manor Nursing Home, Meyersdale.
Born Nov. 16, 1910, in Artemas, she was the daughter of the late Kurt and Agnes (Barnes) Wigfield.
She also was preceded in death by her husband George Otha Bennett on June 27, 1979.
Mrs. Bennett was a member of Lebanon Christian Church, Artemas.
Surviving are two sons, Franklin J. Bennett, Artemas, and Merle O. Bennett, Everett; one brother, Dennis Jay, Bedford; one sister, Ruth Fizer, Hagerstown, Md.; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Kight Funeral Home, 309-311 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. John Miller officiating.
Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery near Artemas.
HENRY E. BENNETT
MARLOW, Okla. - Henry Edward Bennett, 80, of Route 3, Box 342, Marlow, formerly of Lawton, Okla., formerly of Troy, Ill., formerly of Shelbyville, Ill., and Kempton, Md., died Thursday, Feb. 27, 1997, at Duncan Regional Hospital, Duncan.
Born Feb 6, 1917, in Kempton, Md., he was a son of the late George E. Bennett and Lillian (Lancaster) Bennett.
also was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Mae (Hardison) Bennett, on May 10, 1995.
Mr. Bennett was a member of American Legion Post 708; VFW Post 1299; and Bethel Baptist Church, Troy Ill.
He was a U.S. Army retired sergeant first class in the civil service. Surviving are one son, Benny and wife Patricia Bennett, Marlow, Okla.; five brothers, James Bennett and John Bennett, both of Frostburg, Md., Richard Bennett, Oakland, Md., William Bennett, Lady Lake, Fla., and Robert Bennett, Albuquerque, N.M.; and two sisters, Mary Fraley and Martha Miller, both of Frostburg, Md.
Funeral services will be held at Howe & Yockey Funeral Chapel, Shelbyville, Ill., Monday, March 3, 1997, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Daniel Eloe officiating.
Interment will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, Ill., with U.S. flag and full military honors.
JUDITH A. BENNETT
CUMBERLAND - Judith Ann Bennett, 55, of Cumberland, died Monday, Nov. 10, 1997, shortly after arrival at Memorial Hospital.
Born June 9, 1942, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of Betty Marie (Yutzy) Wheeler, Frederick, and the late Frederick Lewis Wheeler.
In addition to her mother, surviving are her husband, Charles A. Bennett, Cumberland; a son, Stephen F. Greenwell, Frederick; a brother, Scott F. Wheeler and wife Crissy, Frederick; and a grandson, Shane F. Greenwell, Frederick.
At the request of Mrs. Bennett, her body was cremated.
A memorial service will be conducted at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home on Saturday, Nov. 15, 1997, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Sherrill Dillon officiating.
MARY M. BENNETT
CUMBERLAND - Mary Martha Bennett, 75, of 10 N. Liberty St., Cumberland, died Saturday, March 22, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born July 23, 1921, in Mount Savage, she was the daughter of the late Edward J. Moran and the late Mary Jane (Folk) Moran.
She also was preceded in death by her husband, Russell J. (Russ) Bennett; two brothers, Edward and Francis Moran; one sister, Ann Daniels; and one grandson, Bryan Shaner.
Mrs. Bennett was a bartender for the Cumberland Country Club. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
Surviving are three sons, Russell Bennett and wife Susan, Cumberland, Bobby Bennett and wife Terry, Zihlman, and John Bennett and wife Nancy, Clear Spring; four daughters, Mary Conner and husband Alvin, Cumberland, Ann Mowery, Cumberland, Patricia Shaner and husband Randy, Ridgeley, W.Va., and Linda Dick, Cumberland; a beloved friend, Jim Furstenburg Jr., Cumberland; one brother, Ronald Moran, Frostburg; two sisters, Ellen Jean Kennedy, Frostburg, and Betty Ann Graceie, Frostburg; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church on Tuesday at 9 a.m.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park.
MARY P. BENNETT
FORT ASHBY, W.Va. - Mary Pearl Bennett, 85, of Fort Ashby, died Tuesday, April 22, 1997, at the Dawn View Manor Nursing Home. She and her sister, Ruth I. Miller, left together, hand in hand, to join Jesus in heaven.
Born Feb. 23, 1912, in Buck Valley, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Ira and Katherine (Wertz) Smith.
In addition to her parents and sister, Mrs. Bennett also was preceded in death by her husband, Conda E. Bennett, and her daughter, Shirley Ann Bennett.
Mrs. Bennett was a cook in local restaurants.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, and a charter member of the Fort Ashby VFW Post 6667 Ladies Auxiliary, where she served as president. She also served as past president of the Fourth District.
Surviving are her son, Donald Bennett and wife Nancy, Carlisle, Pa.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, Route 28, Fort Ashby, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.
The Ladies Auxiliary of the Fort Ashby VFW will conduct a joint memorial service for Mrs. Miller and Mrs. Bennett at the funeral home on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
A joint funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Dallas Forren officiating.
Interment will be in Fort Ashby Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ed Riley, Ron Hershberger, Eddie Willison, Doug Wolford, Ron Evans, and Steven Wotring.
DORIS J. BERG
LAUREL - Doris J. Berg, 64, of Laurel, died Thursday, May 29, 1997, at Laurel Regional Hospital, Laurel.
Born Sept. 24, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Chester M. and Juanita Miller.
She also was preceded in death by three brothers, Orville, Robert, and Donald Miller; and three sisters, Wanda Nave, Virginia Bennett, and Kay Williamson.
Mrs. Berg retired from General Electric as an inspector. She graduated from Fort Hill High School in 1951.
Surviving are one daughter, Jacqueline S. Cessna, Shippensburg, Pa.; one step-daughter, Gerlinde Alejos, Kansas; two sons, Robert A. Steward, Glen Burnie, and Dennis J. Steward, Cumberland; four brothers, Dale, Roy, Ray and Chester M. Miller Jr.; four sisters, Jean Rice, Eleanor Banard, Romaine Sherman, and Joyce Nixon; and 10 grandchildren.
Fleck Funeral Home, 7601 Sandy Spring Road, Laurel, is in charge of the arrangements. There will be no visitation.
A memorial service was held at the Community United Methodist Church, Laurel, on Saturday, May 31, 1997.

NARROWS, Va. - Pauline Matthews Berg, 91, of 213 W. Westview St., Narrows, formerly of Corriganville, Md., died on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 1997.
Born March 29, 1906, in Corriganville, she was the daughter of the late James and Rebecca (Fleegle) Matthews.
Mrs. Berg was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church, Pearisburg.
Surviving are her husband, C. Rockford Berg, Narrows; a son, Carlton L. Berg, Roanoke; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at Riffe's Funeral Home, 600 East Main St., Narrows, Va., on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home chapel on Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Walter Verling officiating.
Interment will be in Birchlawn Burial Park, Pearisburg.

CUMBERLAND - Elmer E. Bergdoll, 61, of Valley Road, Cumberland, died Saturday, Sept. 27, 1997, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Mar. 29, 1936, in Purgitsville, W.Va., he was the son of the late Freeman A. and Nellie P. (Conrad) Bergdoll.
He was preceded in death by one infant brother.
Mr. Bergdoll was a retired construction worker. He was a member of the Army Reserves and a member of the Cumberland Eagles.
Surviving are his companion, Mary A. Twigg; one daughter, Karen Sue Bergdoll Blahut and husband David, Oldtown; one son, Richard Lee Bergdoll, Cumberland; one step-son, John Patrick Moore, Florida; two sisters, Thelma V. Ghahhari, Silver Spring; Wanda D. Bergdoll, Cumberland; three grandchildren, Maranda Lynn Bergdoll, Matthew John Davis, and Tessa Marie Davis; special friends, Donald Twigg and wife Gail, Debra Twigg, Pamela Cole and husband Willie, Russell Twigg and wife Sheila, and their children, Sondra and Donna Jean Fraze, Christy Phillips, Lester and Bill Cole, Crystal, Byran and Richard Twigg, all of Indiana.
