LESTER B. BISTLINE
HYNDMAN, Pa. - Lester B. Bistline, 82, of Hyndman, Bedford County, formerly of Dillsburg, died Friday, March 7, 1997, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
Born Aug. 22, 1914, in Upper Mifflin, Cumberland County, he was the son of the late Bruce G. and Edna C. (Barrick) Bistline.
Mr. Bistline was a retired packer for the former Navy Supply Depot, Mechanicsburg.
He was a member of the Mount Pleasant Church of God, Dillsburg.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret F. (Shoffner) Bistline, Hyndman; three sons, the Rev. Robert M., Lancaster, Leslie Shoffner, Hyndman, and the Rev. Randall L., Mount Joy; one half brother, Bruce G. Bistline Jr., Carlisle; two half sisters, Doris Bowers, Newville, and Byrnece Gibney, Marysville; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held at the Cocklin Funeral Home, 30 N. Chestnut St., Dillsburg, on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jack Parthemore officiating.
Burial will be in the Fairview Bethel Cemetery, Fairview Township, York County.

J. MARK BAAR, M.D.
FULTON - J. Mark Baar, M.D., 34, devoted son of John C. Baar and Celeste (Madden) Baar, and loving brother of Lisa B. Baird, died Monday, June 9, 1997, in an automobile accident.
Mark was the grandson of the late Rosalia and Raymond Madden, Riehl Avenue, and John Charles Baar, former brewmaster of Old Export Brewery, and Frances Baar.
He was nephew of Patricia and Joseph Kessler, Columbia Avenue; Donald and Katherine Madden, Cash Valley; William and Christine Kirby, LaVale; Steve and Linda Madden, Hagerstown; William and Deborah Lueck, New Jersey; and Theresa Madden, Oregon.
Mark was preceded in death by one uncle, Michael Madden.
Mark was a graduate of St. John's High School, Washington, D.C. He went on to become a board certified psychiatrist, and graduate of Baylor College of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. He served as a major in the U.S. Air Force Medical Corps from 1992 to 1996.
Memorial services will be held at Fleck Funeral Home, 7601 Sandy Spring Road, Laurel, Saturday, June 14, 1997, from 2 to 4 p.m.
Donations are being accepted by the Mental Health Association in Howard County, 5865 Robert Oliver Place, Columbia, MD 21045.
Pallbearers will be Lewis Stotler Jr., LeRoy Gross Jr., James Martin, James F. Smith Jr., John Weaver, and Joseph Brown.

ELIDA E. BABCOCK
HYNDMAN, Pa. - Elida Elizabeth Babcock, 72, of Smith's Home, RD 1, Buffalo Mills, formerly of RD 1, Hyndman, went home to be with the Lord Monday, March 24, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
Born Dec. 15, 1924, at Williamsport, she was a daughter of the late George A. and Ruth M. (Frukrob) Babcock.
She also was preceded in death by a brother, George E. Babcock and a close friend, Lester L. Hosselrode.
Ms. Babcock attended Palo Alto United Methodist Church.
Surviving is a close friend, Vivian L. Webber, RD 1, Hyndman.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Roger A. Johnson officiating.
Interment will be in Porter Cemetery near Ellerslie, Md.
C. KENNETH BABCOCK
FROSTBURG - C. Kenneth Babcock, 91, of Frostburg, died Thursday, July 17, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital Hospice Unit.
Born October 11, 1905, in Monroe, N.Y., he was the son of the late Marcellus and Lenah (Bull) Babcock.
He also was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma (Cahoon) Babcock; and a daughter, Susan Babcock Bisignano.
Mr. Babcock was a retired physical education instructor and coach. He taught 20 years at Frostburg State University. While there, he coached many sports including soccer and basketball. He left Frostburg State to teach in Howard County for one year. He finished his career at Allegany College as both physical education instructor and soccer coach.
Mr. Babcock was one of the founders of the JCP Soccer League and was one of the coaches for the Frostburg Rangers. He was active in the Allegany County SCAMPS, and participated in the Senior Citizens Olympics on the local, state, and national levels.
Mr. Babcock was elected as the fourth entrant to the Bobcat Hall of Fame. He was an active member of the committee to establish a new public library in Frostburg.
Surviving are four daughters and their families, Harriet Roe, Boston, Mass., Jane Eberly and husband David, Burke, Va., Marcia Smith and husband Harry, LaVale, and Elizabeth Simpson and husband William, LaVale; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
There will be no visitation and services will be private.
A memorial service will be held at Frostburg State University at a later date.
The family requests memorials take the form of donations to the Frostburg State University Foundation in memory of Mr. Babcock.
The Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, is in charge of the arrangements.
LENA C. BACHTEL
OAKLAND - Lena C. Bachtel, 91, of Oakland, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 1997, at the home of her daughter in Silver Spring.
Born June 5, 1906, in Red House, and was a daughter of the late Franklin B. Shaffer and Annie (Slabaugh) Shaffer.
She also was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Bachtel, in 1974.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Bachtel was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Red House.
Surviving are one son, Harold V. Bachtel, Oakland; three daughters, Helen Nine, Silver Spring, Patricia Ryland, Baltimore, and Grace Ault, Bel Air, Md.; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at St. John's Lutheran Church on Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. William Connelly officiating.
Friends may call at the church one half hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family suggests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to St. John's Lutheran Church or the Hospice of Garrett County.
TWILA V. BACHTEL
OAKLAND - Twila Virginia Bachtel, 95, of 605 Garrett Highway, Oakland, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 1997, at Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home, Oakland.
Born April 3, 1902, in Horse Shoe Run, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late George Houser and Florence (Winters) Houser.
She also was preceded in death by her husband, Mark O. Bachtel in 1973, and a daughter, Geneva Junkins.
Surviving are three sons, Clifton Bachtel, Horse Shoe Run, W.Va., Eugene Bachtel, Eglon, W.Va., and Kenneth Bachtel, Oakland; three daughters, Pauline Best, Riva, Md., Juanita Blamble, Port St. Lucie, Fla., and JoAnn Gehman, Lititz, Pa.; two brothers, Earl Houser, Oakland, and Kenneth Houser, Willowick, Ohio; 20 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at St. John's Lutheran Church, Red House, on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. William Connelly officiating.
Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery.

HELEN E. BAILEY
KEYSER, W.Va. - Helen E. Bailey, 81, of 73 Mozelle St., Keyser, died Thursday, July 3, 1997, at her residence.
Born April 28, 1916, in Beryl, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Edith (Liller) Tucci.
She also was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph L. Bailey, on August 8, 1970.
Mrs. Bailey was a member of the Church of the Assumption, Keyser.
Surviving are one son, Ralph M. Bailey, Keyser; a granddaughter, Shannon E. Cutter, Keyser; a grandson, Shane M. Bailey, Ravenswood; four great-grandchildren, Jodi and Kori Cutter, and Jordan Wade and Travis M. Bailey; two brothers, Patrick Tucci, Fairfield, Ohio, and Louis Tucci, Providence, R.I.; two sisters, Rockine M. Elias, Westernport, and Kathryn Whisner, Somers Point, N.J.
Friends were received at the Markwood McKenzie Funeral Home, Keyser, on Friday.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of Assumption on Saturday, July 5, 1997, at 10 a.m. with Father Ivan M. Lebar, T.O.R., as celebrant.
Interment will be in Queens Point Cemetery, Keyser.
WILLIAM K. BAISOR
KEYSER, W.Va. - William K. Baisor, 87 of 345 Hawthorne Rd., Keyser, died on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 1997, at Moran Manor Nursing Home, Westernport.
Born Sept. 15, 1910, in Waddle, Pa., he was the son of the late Harvey Bush and Mary Jane (Young) Baisor.
He also was preceded in death by a son, Billy Baisor Jr.; an Infant Daughter; and one sister, Louella Baisor.
Mr. Baisor was owner of the Automatic Sharp Shop, Keyser, and retired Construction Engineer from the Doyle & Russell Division of Litton Industries, Richmond, Va.
He attended Penn State University, was a member of the First United Methodist Church, member and Past President of the Keyser Rotary Club, a member of Potomac Highland Travel Council, a World War II Navy Veteran, and a member of the VFW Post #6775 Queens Point, McCoole.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Evelyn (Stafford) Baisor; stepson, Gary L. Stickley, Keyser; one sister, Eleanor B. Benner, State College, Pa.; two nephews, Fred Benner and Kenneth Benner.
Friends will be received at the Markwood McKenzie Funeral Home, Keyser, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, Jan. 3, 1998, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Samuel E. Starling Jr. officiating.
Interment will be in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
VFW Post #6775 Queens Point Memorial Services will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions be made to the First United Methodist Church, Keyser.
