CHARLOTTE M. BAUGHMAN
GARNER, N.C. - Charlotte Marie (Hott) Baughman, 65, of 132 Buffalo Road, Garner, died Friday, March 21, 1997, at home.
Born May 4, 1931, in Cumberland, Md., she was the daughter of the late Vernon Walker Beall and the late Nellie Mae (Smith) Beall.
She also was preceded in death by one sister, Mildred Rizer; and one nephew, Keith A. Mallow.
Mrs. Baughman was a Belltone Hearing Aid Technician.
Surviving are three sons, William A. Hott Jr., Jacksonville, Fla., Patrick Hott, Greencastle, Ind., and V. Alan Hott, Norwalk, Ohio; two daughters, Carolyn Marie Arthur, Carey, N.C., and Patricia Elaine Burrell, Zebulon, N.C.; two brothers, Tim Beall, Sykesville, Md., and Dale Beall, Mansfield, Ohio; two sisters, Betty Day, Fort Meyers, Fla., and Barbara Mallow, Flintstone, Md.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Ron W. Eichel officiating.
Interment will be in the Glendale Cemetery, Flintstone.

WILLIAM J. BAUMILLER SR.
CUMBERLAND - William J. Baumiller Sr., 97, of Orchard Mews Drive SW, Cumberland, formerly of Baltimore, Md., died Tuesday, April 1, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born August 10, 1899, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Joseph Baumiller and Carrie (Pope) Baumiller.
He also was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys (Zizwark) Baumiller.
Mr. Baumiller was a retired superintendent of the Mount Clare Locomotive Shop in Baltimore, retiring in 1965 with 48 years service.
He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church.
Surviving are two sons, William J. Baumiller, Jr., Cockeysville, Md. and John C. Baumiller, Bel Air, Cumberland, Md.; one daughter, Melvine Schuh, Chapel Hill, Fla.; one sister, Babs Story, Bel Air, Md.; eight grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren.
At Mr. Baumiller's request his body was cremated.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later time.
Inurnment will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery, Baltimore, Md. The Kight Funeral Home, Cumberland, is in charge of the arrangements.
FRED E. BEACHY
OAKLAND - Fred E. Beachy, 97, of Paul Friend Road, Oakland, died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 1997, at the Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home, Oakland.
Born Feb. 12, 1900, in Accident, he was the son of the late Silas C. and Mary A. (Bowser) Beachy.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Daisy D. (Harrison) Beachy in 1986.
He purchased Hardesty Lumber Company and formed the Fred E. Beachy Lumber Company, Oakland, in 1951 and served as president until his retirement in 1995.
He was a graduate of the Blue Ridge Academy, New Windsor, and the Parkersburg, West Virginia Business School.
He was a former member of the Oakland Rotary Club joining in 1955 and was a member of the Maple Spring Church of the Brethren.
He is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth A. Fike and husband the Rev. J. Rogers, Mountain Lake Park and Alice May Bookout and husband Gary D., Philippi, W.Va.; 12 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. John Crowe officiating.
Interment will be in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens, Oakland.

LUTHER C. BEACHY
GRANTSVILLE - Luther Coolidge Beachy, 73, of 93 E. Main St., Grantsville, died Saturday, July 5, 1997, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born June 12, 1924, in Grantsville, he was a son of the late Galen and Vena (Yost) Beachy.
He also was preceded in death by a son, Bradley; and a brother, Galen Beachy Jr.
Mr. Beachy was a member of Maple Grove Church of the Brethren.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of Grantsville Post 214, American Legion and a lifetime member of Walker-Harris Post, VFW, Salisbury, Pa.
He is survived by his wife Betty Jane (Wilt) Beachy; three sons, Gerald Beachy and Kevin Beachy, both of Grantsville, and Timothy Beachy, Springs, Pa.; three daughters, Kathy Riley, Cresaptown, Rebecca Hresko, Eldersburg, and Tamara Beachy, Grantsville; two sisters, Kay Speicher, Grantsville and Helen Keim, Somerset, Pa; and nine grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Terrell Mallow officiating.
Interment will be in Grantsville Cemetery.
Military graveside rites will be accorded by the American Legion.

BERNARD E. BEARD, SR.
DUNBAR, W.Va. - Bernard Eugene Beard, Sr., 82, of Dunbar, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 1997, at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston, W.Va., following a short illness.
He was a retired bus driver in High Point, N.C.
Mr. Beard was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Charleston, W.Va.
He had been a resident of Dunbar for 20 years.
Surviving are two sons, Bernard Beard, Jr., Lexington, Va., and David C. Beard, Oakland; and a daughter, JoAnne Metz, Cumberland; 17 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

WARREN R. BEARINGER
CUMBERLAND - Warren R. Bearinger, 69, of Cumberland, died Sunday, Aug. 3, 1997, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Aug. 24, 1927, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Joseph and Myrtle (Durbin) Bearinger.
He also was preceded in death by three sisters, Katherine Sharon, Leoda Bearinger and Frances Kincaid; two brothers, Paul Bearinger and Joseph Ralph Bearinger.
Mr. Bearinger retired in 1985 as a clerk from the Chessie System Railroad after 35 years of service.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He was a Methodist by faith.

Surviving are his wife Ella V. (Duckworth) Bearinger; three sons, Gary A. Bearinger and wife Elisa, Donald R. Bearinger and wife Jane and Larry W. "Bike" Bearinger; one daughter, Nancy L. Fram and husband Tom; one brother, Claude W. Bearinger, all of Cumberland; six grandchildren, Kelly Oaks and husband Rick, Eric Bearinger, Jason Bearinger, Matthew Bearinger, Dawn Bearinger and Andrea Bearinger; and one great-grandson, Benjamin Oaks.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with the Pastor Stanley G. Cardwell officiating.
Interment will be in the Hillcrest Memorial Park.

DR. LESTER K. BEAVERS
KEYSER, W.Va. - Dr. Lester K. Beavers, 57, of 17 Arnold St., Keyser, died Friday, Nov. 28, 1997, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown.
Born April 30, 1940, in Berwind, W.Va., he was the son of Edna (Gillespie) Beavers Northern and the late Farren L. Beavers.
He also was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Jodie L. Heckman, on March 10, 1991.
Dr. Beavers was Dean of Academic Affairs for Potomac State College. He earned both his master's degree and doctorate in political science and sociology from West Virginia University. He has served Potomac State College as a faculty member and administrator for 26 years. In 1981, he earned the rank of professor. He began his teaching career at Potomac State in 1971 as an assistant professor of sociology and political science. During his career with the college, he has also served as interim president, coordinator of assessment, and coordinator of the NCA Institutional Self Study. He was fluent in Spanish and has taught intermediate Spanish for the college.
In addition to Potomac State College, Dr. Beavers was a faculty member at Universidad de Antioquia in Columbia, South America, Fairmont State College and the West Virginia University Department of Political Science. From 1963 to 1969, he served in the U.S. Peace Corps in Columbia, South America.
He has served as an institutional representative to the Faculty Consortium for Course Development in International Studies. He was a member of the Association of Institutional Researchers and AAHE Assessment Forum. He was a member of the West Virginia Sociological Association and the West Virginia Political Science Association.
He was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, Keyser Rotary Club, Davis Lodge No. 51 AF&AM, a member of the Democratic Party, and a former member of the Democratic Committee. He was a former member of the Developmental Center and Workshop, and a former volunteer for the Burlington Family Services.
In addition to his mother, surviving are his wife, Jeannette H. (Shepp) Beavers; one son, Kevin E. Beavers, Ann Arbor, Mich.; a stepson, William Thomas Heckman III, Morgantown; stepfather, Roland Northern, Forestville, Md.; one brother, Leslie E. Beavers and wife Brenda, Stanton, Ken.; brother-in-law, Carl Shepp and wife Cheryl, Saratoga, Wyo; Uncle Jack and Aunt Gladys Gillespie, Glen Burnie, Md.
Friends will be received at the Markwood McKenzie Funeral Home, Keyser, on Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m.
A Celebration of the Life of Lester K. Beavers will be held at the Church McKee Arts Center of Potomac State College, Keyser, on Monday, Dec. 1, 1997, at 2 p.m.
Interment will be in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.

DUBOIS, Pa. - Anne Catherine Becherer, 71, of 111 Olive Ave., Dubois, died Sunday, May 25, 1997, at Dubois Regional Medical Center West.
Born April 8, 1926, in Cumberland, Md., she was the daughter of Aloysuis I. Smith and Lillian A. (Diggs) Smith.
She also was preceded in death by her brother, Robert A. Smith.
Mrs. Becherer was a homemaker. She enjoyed fishing and her flower garden, and was a member of St. Catherine's, Siena Parish.
Surviving are her husband, Frank Herbert Becherer; two daughters, Lynne Ann Weygandt, Vero Beach, Fla., and Susan Margaret Weber, Sykesville; one son, Frank M. Becherer III; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary A. Engelbach, N. Myrtle Beach, Fla., and Helene V. Blake, Cumberland, Md.
Friends will be received at the Mohney-Yargar Funeral Chapel, Inc., on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael the Archangel Church on Thursday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Monsignor Henry L. Krebs, VF, and the Rev. A.W. Wilson officiating.
A scriptural wake service will be held at the funeral chapel on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
Interment will be in Morningside Cemetery.
