LEONA I. BECHTOL

CUMBERLAND - Leona I. Bechtol, 88, of Cumberland, died Friday, July 25, 1997, at Memorial Hospital.

Born June 6, 1909, near Great Cacapon, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Norman and Bertha (Smith) Whisner.

She also was preceded in death by her husband Edward F. Bechtol, in 1977; two brothers, Omer Whisner and Melvin Whisner; and one grandson, Nathaniel "Chip" Wright.

Mrs. Bechtol was a loving mother, grandmother and homemaker to many. She was a member of the Winifred Road Church of Christ.

Surviving are three sons, Neil F. Bechtol and wife Erma, Carroll Valley, Pa., Charles E. Bechtol and wife Frances, Fayetteville, N.C., and Gary W. Bechtol and wife Jeanie, Baltimore; one daughter, Virginia Lee Wright and husband Nathaniel, Cresaptown; three sisters, Beatrice Gilhart, Front Royal, Va., Vesta Secrest, Clear Spring, Elvinia Bechtol, Brunswick; one brother-in-law, John L. Bechtol and wife Faun, Cumberland; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Pastor John Herbst officiating.

Interment will be at the Mount Nebo Cemetery, near Great Cacapon.

Family requests expressions of sympathy be made to the Winifred Road Church of Christ.

DOROTHY V. BECK

FORT ASHBY, W.Va. - Dorothy "Dot" Virginia Beck, 75, of Fort Ashby, died Monday, March 24, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital.

Born Oct. 15, 1921, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Harry E. Moore and Melissa (Myers) Moore.

She also was preceded in death by her sisters Odessa Jane "Wince" Blacka and Marjorie A. Hawse.

Dorothy was a graduate of Fort Hill High School and the Sacred Heart Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1942.

She was employed as a registered nurse for 37 years. She worked at Hampshire Memorial Hospital and the Cumberland Nursing Center.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church; Ladies Auxiliary of Fort Cumberland Post 13; Ladies Auxiliary of Fort Ashby VFW Post 6667, where she served as chairman of the hospital committee; Women of the Moose, Chapter 914; Ladies Auxiliary of FOE, Aerie 245; and Ladies Auxiliary of the Cumberland Outdoor Club.

Surviving are her husband, Raymond L. Beck Jr.; one daughter, JoAnn Dean, Dallas, Texas; four grandchildren, Brandon C. Kidwell, Cumberland, Md., Daniel K. Brown, Mike Dean, and Cody Dylan Dean, all of Dallas, Texas; nephews James Gary Moore, Keyser, Clarence and Saundra Hawse, Fort Ashby, and several other nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, Route 28, Fort Ashby, on Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

The Ladies Auxiliary of the Fort Cumberland Post 13, American Legion, will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.

Members of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fort Ashby VFW Post 6667 will conduct a service at 7:30 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Dallas Forren officiating.

Interment will be in Fort Ashby Cemetery.

DENCIL L. KIRKPATRICK

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. - Dencil (Denny) Lloyd Kirkpatrick, 37, ormerly of Cumberland, died Monday, Sept. 15, 1997, at Holbrook Nursing Home in Buckhannon.

Born July 3, 1960, in Weston, W.Va., he was the son of the late Marvel Kenneth and Nellie Delortha (Lorentz) Kirkpatrick.

He also was preceded in death by his brother Kenneth Kirkpatrick.

Mr. Kirkpatrick was a former employee of Big Lots in Cumberland.

Surviving are his former wife, Brenda Kirkpatrick; two sons, Matt Kirkpatrick and Tom Spiker both of Cumberland; two daughters, Samantha Kirkpatrick and Krista Spiker, both of Cumberland; three sisters, Marsh and husband Dave Snyder of Weston, W.Va., Patricia Strickland and Brandi DeAngelino, Louisville, Ky.; four brothers, Mike and wife Jeanie Lorentz of Buckhannon, Kevin and wife Debbie, Kirkpatrick, and John Kirkpatrick, both of Weston, and Rick Kirkpatrick of Pittsburgh.

Friends will be received at the Boyle Funeral Home, Weston, on Wednesday from noon to 1:30 p.m.

Services will be conducted following the viewing.

Interment will be in the Snyder Cemetery.

BERTHA M. KISAMORE

FLINTSTONE - Bertha M. Kisamore, 89, of 13520 Scofield Road, Flintstone, died March 2, 1997, at her home.

Born Dec. 2, 1907, in Pendleton County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Cane Morral and Mary Jane (Arbogast) Morral.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Fleet H. Kisamore on Jan. 28, 1987; four brothers, Wine, Marvin, Delmar and Earl Morral and three sisters, Florence Vance, Grace Warner and Flode Bland and Emery Vance, whom she raised.

Mrs. Kisamore was a retired employee of Kelly Springfield Tire Company.

Her career lasted from Jan. 18, 1945, to Aug. 1, 1963.

Surviving are one brother, Arthur Morral, West Virginia; two children that Mrs. Kisamore raised as her own, Melvin ``Rick'' Vance and wife, Wendy, Star Route, Flintstone and Shirley Grieves, Flintstone and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Richard Ketterman officiating.

Interment will be at Bedford County Memorial Park.

ALLEN J. KITZMILLER

ELK GARDEN, W.Va. - Allen James Kitzmiller, 68, of Elk Garden, died Thursday, May 27, 1997, at his residence.

Born May 5, 1928, in Bloomington, Md., he was a son of the late Gabriel and Pearl (Methner) Kitzmiller.

Mr. Kitzmiller was retired from Westvaco Corp. He also was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Surviving are his wife, Lois (Hanson) Kitzmiller; seven sons, George and Ronald Kitzmiller, Mount Storm, Roger Kitzmiller, Houston, Texas, Frederick Kitzmiller, Salem, Ore., Richard and Harold Kitzmiller, Elk Garden, and James Kitzmiller, Oakland, Md.; four daughters, Virginia Paugh and Mildred Paugh, Elk Garden, Betty Kitzmiller and Cindy Kitzmiller, Hedgesville; five brothers, Arnold, Norman, and Gabriel S. Kitzmiller, all of Houston, Texas, Russell Kitzmiller, Rawlings, Md., and Frederick Kitzmiller, Florida; four sisters, Murial Elias, Weidman, Mich., Katherine Bernard, Christmas, Fla., Betty Dake, Newport News, Va., and Shirley Hoover, Keyser; 24 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, Kitzmiller, Md., on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Monday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Donald E. Marple officiating.

Interment will be IOOF Cemetery.

DWIGHT R. "IKE" KITZMILLER

ORRVILLE, Ohio - Dwight R. "Ike" Kitzmiller, 56, of Orrville, formerly of Mountain Lake Park, Md., died Saturday, May 3, 1997, at Dunlap Memorial Hospital, Orrville.

Born March 19, 1941, in Oakland, Md., he was the son of Orval I. and Mildred M. (Zimmerman) Kitzmiller, Mountain Lake Park, Md.

Mr. Kitzmiller was a welder for Westinghouse until 1975.

He attended the Calvary Assembly of God Church in Orrville.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife, Loretta M. (Yoder) Kitzmiller; one son, Randy Kitzmiller and wife Rhonda, Apple Creek; one daughter Sherry Hurst and husband Mark, Orrville; two grandchildren; and two sisters, Louise Klier and husband, the Rev. Robert Klier, Petersburg, W.Va., and Patricia Justice, Millsboro, Dela.

Funeral services will be held at the Calvary Assembly of God Church, Orrville, on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Dennis Woodruff officiating.

Interment will be in Sherwood Memorial Gardens, Wooster.

Memorials may be made to Multiple Sclerosis Society.

The Auble Funeral Home, Orrville, is in charge of the arrangements.

GEORGE KLAVUHN

LONACONING - George Klavuhn, 85, of 17101 Lower Georges Creek Road, Lonaconing, died Sunday, Aug. 24, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital.

Born April 16, 1912, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Henry Klavuhn and Jenny (Coats) Klavuhn.

Mr. Klavuhn was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

He retired as a heavy duty truck driver, and he was a member of the teamsters.

Surviving are his wife, Blanche Genevieve (Beeman) Broadwater Klavuhn; four stepsons, Wilbert Broadwater and wife Eloise, Lonaconing, Clarence Broadwater and wife Sue, Lonaconing, Leo Broadwater and wife Michele, Bel Air, Eugene Broadwater and wife Peggy, Lonaconing; nine grandchildren, 12 great- grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, Lonaconing, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be held at the First Assembly of God Church, Lonaconing, on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Donald Webb officiating.

The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in Philos Cemetery, Westernport.

Pallbearers will be Steven Broadwater, Tom Broadwater, Bob Moses, Ed Jones, Valery Broadwater, and Keith Broadwater. Honorary pallbearer will be Shawn Edward Jones.

MARY P. KLINE

CUMBERLAND - Mary Pauline "Petty" Kline, 78, of Cumberland, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, June 10, 1997, at the home of her daughter.

Born April 12, 1919, in Wiley Ford, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late George W. and Missouri Lucille (Wakefield) Shank.

She also was preceded in death by her husband, Guy C. Kline, in 1994.

Mrs. Kline was co-owner of Kline's Photo Service, Cumberland.

She attended Central Assembly of God Church.

Surviving are three daughters, Betty R. Harper, Lora Lee Kerchner and husband Frank, all of Cumberland, and Linda R. Mincey and husband Greg, Daytona Beach, Fla.; one sister, Ruby Sites, Cumberland; six grandchildren, Walter "Wally" Harper, Royce Harper, Travis Mincey, Brian Mincey, Debby Kerchner, and Sheryl Kerchner; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 3:30 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the Central Assembly of God Church on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Gary Butler officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Royce Harper, Travis Cole Mincey, Kermit Sites, K. William Sites, Richard Sites, and Larry Maiers.

The family requests that contributions be directed to the Building Fund at Central Assembly of God Church, or the Memorial Hospital Home Hospice.
