RICHARD A. FIKE
Richard Allen Fike, 19, Accident, died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakand.
Born Aug. 1, 1983, in Oakland, he was a son of Richard Fike and Sherry (Beitzel) Fike.
He was a student at Northern High School, and participated in the Best Buddies Program. He was baptized at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Bittinger.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by one sister, Brandy, and one brother, Brody, both at home; paternal grandparents, Dale and Nancy Fike, Accident; maternal grandparents, Roger and Sylvia Beitzel, Chelsea, Okla.; and maternal great-grandfather, Marvin Beitzel, Chelsea.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, Accident, on Thursday, Dec. 26, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A service will be conducted on Friday at 1 p.m. at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, with Pastor Pat Pittsnogle officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in the Bittinger Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be directed to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Northern Garrett County Rescue Squad, or Garrett County Memorial Hospital.
JOHN E. TEETS
John Eston Teets, 93, Eglon, W.Va., died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002, in Oakland.
Born April 27, 1909, in Eglon, he was a son of the late William Lindsey and Dora Elma Fike Teets. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Chester and Charles; and one sister, Elmina.
He was an educator and dairy farmer. He attended Bridgewater College for three years, Shepherd College for one year, and Duke University for a summer session. He taught school and served as principal of Eglon School, and taught at the Sell School on Hogback. He was a lifelong member of the Maple Springs Church of the Brethren, director of the Milk Co-op, and member of the W.Va. Artificial Breeders Association.
Surviving are his wife, Rebecca L. Faw Teets, whom he married on June 19, 1937; one son, Leland Teets, Eglon; one daughter, Letitia Jane May, Cotter, Ark.; two brothers, Ellis Teets and David Teets, both of Horse Shoe Run, W.Va.; and two grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Maple Springs Church of the Brethren, Eglon, today, Thursday, Dec. 26, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A service will be held at the church on Friday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Rogers Fike officiating.
Interment will follow in the Maple Springs Cemetery.

MARGARET R. MCDANIEL
Margaret Rose "Margie" McDaniel, 75, Cumberland, died Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, at her residence.
Born March 8, 1927, in Aurora, W.Va., she was a daughter of late George Blaine Wotring and Ada Minnie (Teets) Wotring. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Allen R. McDaniel; one brother, Junior Wotring; and six sisters, Pauline Glaze, Minnie Stemple, Pearl Stemple, Fanny Wotring, Claudia Parker, and Elma Hardesty.
She was a retired nursing assistant for Memorial Hospital, Cumberland. She was a 1946 graduate of Aurora High School, a member of Livingstone Church of the Brethren, a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, a member of Mapleside Homemakers Association, and a member of the Adult Fellowship.
Surviving are one son, William R. Park Sr., Frostburg; one sister, Grace Ayers, Aurora; one brother, William Wotring, Arthurdale, W.Va.; one grandson; and one great-granddaughter.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, Cumberland, today, Thursday, Dec. 26, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A service will be conducted at the Livingstone Church of Brethren on Friday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Timothy L. Monn officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 10 until 11 a.m.
Interment will be in Aurora Cemetery, Aurora.

DOROTHY L. SHADE
Dorothy Leona Shade, 88, formerly of Bittinger, died Friday, Dec. 13, 2002, at Carroll Lutheran Village in Westminster.
Born Nov. 12, 1914, in Bittinger, she was a daughter of the late Dennis and Mary Oester Brenneman. She was also preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy Shade, who died in 1987.
Surviving are sons David Shade, Glen Rock, Pa., and Donald Shade, Lineboro; daughters, Betty Shade, Westminster, and Phyllis Miller, Godley, Texas; siblings, Olin and Olis Brenneman, May Shumaker, and Nona Myers, all of Grantsville, Ralph Brenneman, Accident, Hazel Friend, Friendsville, and Rex Brenneman, Amarillo, Texas; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, Owings Mills. A service was held at the Reistertown Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Berrymans Lane, on Tuesday, Dec. 17.
A private interment was held in the Lutheran Cemetery.
JACK B. HENSHAW
Jack Burton Henshaw, 82, Oakland, died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2002, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born April 3, 1920, in Beaver Falls, Pa., he was the son of the late Augustus W. Henshaw and Helen (Leary) Henshaw.
He was a retired insurance administrator, and an Army veteran of World War II. He was also a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Oakland, the Oakland Lodge 192 AF&AM, the Tall Cedars of Lebanon, and the Scottish Rite.
Surviving are his wife, Thelma (Kitch) Henshaw; one son, Michael C. Henshaw, Sunderland; one daughter, Carol Stouffer, Hedgesville, W.Va.; and one grandchild.
At his request, his body will be cremated.
A memorial service will be held at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, on Saturday, Dec. 21, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. T. Patrick Kerr officiating.
Inurnment will be in Garrett County Memorial Gardens, Oakland.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Southern Garrett County Rescue Squad or a charity of the donor's choice.
ELIZABETH F. STREETS
Elizabeth Frances Streets, 75, Grantsville, formerly of Keyser, W.Va., died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002, at the Goodwill Mennonite Nursing Home, Grantville, where she had been a resident since 1978.
Born Jan. 28, 1927, in Keyser, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Clara (Staggs) Leatherman. She was also preceded in death by one grandson.
She was a homemaker.
Surviving are one daughter, Judy Faidley, Finzel; two sons, Ronald Lee Streets Sr., LaVale, and Raymond Streets Sr., San Mateo, Fla.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, today, Thursday, Dec. 19, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 1 p.m., with Pastor Daniel C. Agnew officiating.
Interment will be in the Emmanuel Methodist Cemetery, Route 40 West.
OLIVE M. JOHNSON
Olive M. Johnson, 73, Frostburg, died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, at the Frostburg Village Nursing Care Center, Frostburg.
Born Aug. 26, 1929, in Finzel, she was a daughter of the late Patrick and Gertrude (McKenzie) McKenzie. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William P. Johnson; and one daughter, Lisa Marie Johnson.
She was a retired seamstress with Schwab sewing factory, and she was a homemaker. She was Catholic by faith.
She is survived by two sisters, Anna Dolores McKenzie, Frostburg, and Pat Shocky, Meyersdale, Pa.
Friends were received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, where a service was held on Monday, Dec. 16, with the Rev. Father Paul Byrnes officiating.
Interment was in the Frostburg Memorial Park.
GEORGE E. ROOT JR.
George E. Root Jr., 82, Kitzmiller, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born Oct. 30, 1920, in Parsons, W.Va., he was the son of the late George E. Root Sr. and Bessie P. (Cosner) Root. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda J. (Butler) Root.
He was a retired machine operator for the National Acme Co., Cleveland, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by two daughters, Anna Craven, Mtn. Lake Park, and Sheila E. Sweitzer, Oakland; one sister, Sylvia Hyde, Cumberland; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, where a service was held on Monday, Dec. 16, with Gary E. Galloway officiating.
Interment was in the Oakland Cemetery.
HUBERT L. BROADWATER
Hubert Lee Broadwater, 58, Grantsville, died Friday, Dec. 13, 2002, at Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville.
Born Jan. 2, 1944, he was a son of the late Carl William and Evelyn (Rounds) Broadwater.
Surviving are his wife, Catherine "Kate" (Weimer) Broadwater; one son, Steven L. Broadwater, Grantsville; one daughter, Gloria J. Broadwater, Mebane, N.C.; three brothers, Robert Broadwater, Richard Broadwater, and George Broadwater, all of Grantsville; two sisters, Catherine Butler, Grantsville, and Rosalie Jones, Riverdale; and one grandson.
Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville. A service was conducted at the Cherry Grove Church of the Brethren on Monday, Dec. 16, with Pastor Henry Elsea Jr. officiating.
Interment was in the Grantsville Cemetery.
