ROBERT L. KLINE
CUMBERLAND - Robert L. "Bob" Kline, 67, of Cumberland, died Wednesday, April 16, 1997, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Oct. 29, 1929, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Hugh L. and Evelyn O. (Andrews) Kline.
He also was preceded in death by one grandson, Daniel L. Kline.
Mr. Kline was a retired boilermaker from the CSX Corp. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a former member of Drum and Bugle Corps of Maryland National Guard; a member of Davis Memorial United Methodist Church; and Cumberland Lodge 271, Loyal Order of Moose.
Surviving are his wife, Susan G. (Smith) Kline; two sons, Robert R. Kline and wife Donna, Cumberland, and Michael L. Kline and wife Deanna, Dover Air Force Base, Del.; one sister, Shirley Mulligan and husband Bud, Carpendale, W.Va.; four grandchildren, Carrie Goldsworthy and husband Rick, Andrea Kline, Paula Kalbaugh, and Rhonda Kalbaugh.
Also surviving are a number of sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m., and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. William Merki and the Rev. Kevin Lowery officiating.
Interment will be in Davis Memorial Cemetery.
Military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to the Memorial Hospital Hospice Unit.

BERTHA MARIE KLINK
FROSTBURG - Bertha Marie Klink, 75, of 158 Depot Road, Frostburg, died Friday, May 30, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital after a long illness.
Born April 10, 1922, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late Les and Marie (Wright) Snyder, and was the last member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Klink was a dietitian and retired after 18 years of service with the Frostburg Community Hospital.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church, American Legion Auxiliary, VFW No. 1473 Auxiliary, Frostburg Chapter No. 221 Women of the Moose, and Fraternal Order of Eagles Arie No. 1273 Auxiliary.
Surviving are her husband, Harold C. Klink, Frostburg; one son, Leslie C. Klink and wife Jill, Frostburg; four granddaughters; and two great-grandsons.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
American Legion Farrady Post No. 24 will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
Mountain Chapter No. 15 Order of the Eastern Star will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home Sunday at 7:30 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday, June 2, 1997, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Joe Penick officiating.
Interment will be in the Eckhart Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Harry Landis, Charlie Yarnall, Kevin Snyder, Raymond Wright, Robert Hanekamp, Avalon Ledong, and Jay Hegeman.
BERNARD F. KNECHT
SALISBURY, Pa. - Bernard F. Knecht, 63, of Rockhill, S.C., formerly of Salisbury, died Oct. 10, 1997 at Piedmont Hospital Systems, Rockhill.
He was born Aug. 9, 1934 in Meyersdale, Pa., a son of Margaret Gleaves Knecht, LaPlata, and the late J. Francis Knecht.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Laura Ann Reich Knecht.
Mr. Knecht was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church of Rockhill.
He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, a veteran of the Korean conflict, and was a retired truck driver of Celanese Corporation.
He is survived by his widow, Joan Brocht Knecht, four children, Joseph C., Jeffrey, and Susan Saboley, all of Rockhill, and Elizabeth Anne Parks, Waynesville, N.C.; six grandchildren. He was a brother of Michael Knecht of LaPlata; and Barbara Segert and Mary Barkosky, both of Harrisburg, Pa.
The family will receive friends at Leckemby Funeral Home, Meyersdale on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral mass will be on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in SS Philip and James Catholic Church with Msgr. Timothy J. Swope officiating. Interment will be in SS Philip and James Cemetery.
Vigil Service will be Tuesday at 2 p.m., and Rosary at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
JOHN S. KNEPP
HAGERSTOWN - John Shannon Knepp, 75, of 18320 Rench Road, Hagerstown, died on Thursday, Oct. 16, 1997, at the Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.
Born Jan. 30, 1922, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late George H. and Phoebe (Coleman) Knepp.
He also was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Johnson and Marguerite Lashley.
Mr. Knepp was employed with the Maryland State Highway Administration for 39 years, retiring in 1983.
He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific.
He was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church; a member of the American Legion Dixon Troxell Post No. 211, Funkstown; the VFW Post No. 6025, Mount Savage; BPOE Lodge No. 470, Frostburg, the Masonic Kemp Lodge 154, Mount Savage, the Scottish Rite and Ali Ghan of Cumberland; Hagerstown Shrine; Mercersburg Sportsmens Club; Eagles Inc., Waynesboro, Pa.; and Redmen of Conococheage Tribe 84.
Surviving are his wife, Helen B. Knepp; one son, John B. Knepp, San Jose, Calif.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.

HENRY H. KNIERIEM
FROSTBURG - Henry Hoffman Knieriem, 87, of the Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville, formerly of 84 Walnut St., Frostburg, died Thursday, May 15, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born July 1, 1909, in Cresaptown, he was the son of the late Charles and Edna E. (Llewellyn) Knieriem.
He also was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian (Zais) Knieriem, on June 28, 1991; and two brothers, Irvin Knieriem and William Knieriem.
Mr. Knieriem retired from the Kelly Springfield Tire Co. in 1971 after 38 years of service building truck tires.
He was a member of the Frostburg United Methodist Church.
Mr. Knieriem was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Surviving are two sons, Paul Knieriem and wife Janet, Grahamtown, and Ralph Knieriem and wife Doris, Midlothian; one sister, Margaret Bloom and husband Albert, Corriganville; one brother, John Knieriem, Frostburg; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. George Aist, the Rev. Dr. Richard Metrick, and the Rev. William G. Boyer officiating.
Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.
MARY E. KNIERIEM
CUMBERLAND - Mary E. Ketzner Knieriem, 81, of Louisiana Avenue, Cumberland, died Saturday, Sept. 6, 1997, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Feb. 14, 1916, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Mabel (Cronin) Ketzner.
She also was preceded in death by her husband, Donald L. Knieriem Sr. in 1993; and one sister, Frances "Frenchie" Brown.
Mrs. Knieriem was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, a member of the Cumberland Women's Sports Club, the Women's Civic Club, and the Maryland Senior Olympics. She was a volunteer at the Western Maryland Office of Tourism, the Interfaith Consortium Food Pantry, and the Western Maryland Reading Center. She was the Cumberland Times-News 1997 Citizen of the Year.
Surviving are two daughters, Suzanne Lamson, Lawrenceville, N.J., and Rebecca A. Kitzmiller and husband William Harold, Dawson; one son, Donald L. Knieriem and wife Eileen, Laurel; one brother, John S. Ketzner, Baltimore; one sister, Carol R. Hatfield, Hagerstown; five grandchildren, Shawn and Jeffrey Lamson, Jason, Bradley and Kendra Knieriem; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Monday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A Christian wake service will be conducted on Monday at 9 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with Father Thomas R. Bevan as celebrant.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park.

ROBERT B. KNIERIEM, SR.
CUMBERLAND - Robert Brooke Knieriem, Sr., 71, of Cumberland, died Friday, Dec. 26, 1997, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born May 23, 1926, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late John Peter and Lydia (Arnold) Knieriem.
He also was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
Mr. Knieriem was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and retired from PPG works 7. He was a member of the Haystack Mountain Sportsman Club and former president of the LaVale Swim Club.
Surviving are his wife, Almeda C. (Beck) Knieriem; three sons, R. Brooke Knieriem and wife Mary Ann, Lincoln University, Pennsylvania, J. Matthew Knieriem, LaVale, and Christopher T. Knieriem and wife Barbara, Solomon Island; one daughter, Mary Beth Miller and husband Paul, LaVale; three sisters, Kathryn Hixon, Mary E. Weimer, and Martha McNeil and husband Lloyd, all of Cumberland; and nine grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Sunday from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Sunday at 9 p.m. with Father Milton A. Hipsley officiating. At Mr. Knieriem's request, he will be cremated.

WILLIAM C. KNIERIEM
FROSTBURG - William Clement Knieriem, 72, of 80 Walnut St., Frostburg, died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born June 28, 1924, in Woodland, he was the son of the late Charles and Edna (Llewellyn) Knieriem.
He also was preceded in death by one son, Charles William Knieriem.
Mr. Knieriem was retired from the Kelly Springfield Tire Co. after 38 years.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he served in the South Pacific with the Amphibious Corps.
He was a member of the Grahamtown Gospel Hall Assembly of Christians.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Wilma (Mackey) Knieriem; one daughter, Kathleen Moose and husband David G., Cleveland, Ohio; two grandsons, Stephen Todd Moose, and Nathan Andrew Moose, both of Cleveland, Ohio; one sister, Margaret Bloom, Corriganville; two brothers, Henry H. Knieriem, Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville, and John W. Knieriem, Lions Manor, Cumberland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m., with Dr. Lindsay Parks and Mr. William Parks officiating.
Interment will be in the Frostburg Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be David Moose, Stephen Moose, Robert Pancake, Larry Pancake, James Dunn, and Paul Knieriem.
Honorary Pallbearers are Glenn Moose, Nathan Moose, William Smith, Earl Harrison, William Price, Brent Richards, Bradley Richards, and Edwin Dunn.
