COLLEEN M. AARON
BALTIMORE - Colleen Mullaney Aaron, 66, formerly of Cumberland, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 1997, at the St. Elizabeth Nursing Home, Baltimore, where she had been a resident for 30 years.
Born June 21, 1931, in Mount Savage, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Ethel Mullaney.
She also was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Aaron; one brother, Thomas B. Mullaney II; and one nephew, Bill Hill.
Surviving are five brothers, Edward Mullaney, Cumberland, John, Dennis, Michael, and Charles Mullaney, all of Baltimore; two sisters, Mary Pat Hill and Margaret Hook, both of Cumberland; 20 nieces and nephews; 14 great-nieces and great-nephews.
Family and friends were received at the Ambrose Funeral Home, Baltimore, on Thursday, Oct. 23, 1997, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Interment was in the New Cathedral Cemetery on Friday, Oct. 24, 1997.
GEORGE H. ABBOTT, SR.
CUMBERLAND - George H. Abbott, Sr., 87, of Cumberland, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 24, 1997.
Born March 15, 1910, in Lonaconing, he was the son of the late John "Jake" Abbott and Margaret (Sloan) Abbott.
Mr. Abbott was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Mr. Abbott was a long time car mechanic in the area. He worked at Holland's Esso, Burkett's Oldsmobile, and Collins' Oldsmobile.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 66 years, Nellie Mae (Kyle) Abbott; two sons, George Holmes Abbott Jr., and wife, Carolyn, Derwood, and James Francis Abbott and wife Linda, Decatur, Ill.; one daughter, Gina Rae Wiley and loving son-in-law, Richard, Cumberland; 11 grandchildren, Christina Fortner, Deborah Weaver, Jamie Skelley, Rebecca Schuch, George H. Abbott III, Rachael Abbott, Sharyn Abbott, Kimberly Cramer, Darren Wiley, Trenton Wiley, and Bronson Wiley; and ten great-grandchildren. Mr. Abbott will be dearly missed by several nieces and nephews; and a dear friend, Joe Hiett.
Friends will be received at the George-Upchurch Funeral Home, 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William Merki and the Rev. Sheril Merki officiating.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park.
Serving as pallbearers will be James Francis Abbott, Mark W. Amezcua Sr., Scott Twigg, George H. Abbott III, David Abbott, Jimmy Abbott, John Yarnall, and Francis Yarnall.

ROSALIE L. ABBOTT
CUMBERLAND - Rosalie L. Abbott, 58, of Bel Air, Cumberland, died Monday, Sept. 8, 1997, at Memorial Hospital Hospice, Cumberland.
Born Feb. 14, 1939, in Gilmore, she was the daughter of the late Cecil and Helen (Smith) Llewellyn.
Mrs. Abbott was a retired school teacher for the Allegany County Board of Education. For the past 18 years, she taught fourth grade at John Humbird Elementary School.
Mrs. Abbott was a member of LaVale United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband, William C. Abbott; two daughters, Lynn Ann Finch and husband Ronald, Pensacola, Fla.; Cheryl D. Dawson and husband Brian, Hagerstown; four brothers, Samuel Llewellyn and wife Edna, Gilmore; Robert Llewellyn and wife Edith, Swanton; Marvin Llewellyn and wife Lesta, Lonaconing; Gary Llewellyn and wife Val, Cumberland; and one sister, Norma Byers and husband William, Barton.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, Cresaptown, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the LaVale United Methodist Church on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Bernadette Ross officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

FORT ASHBY, W.Va. - Irene Elizabeth Abe, 87, of Dawn View Manor Nursing Home, formerly of Ridgeley, died Wednesday, March 26, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born May 14, 1909, in Ridgeley, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Anna (Miller) Valentine.
She also was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin C. Abe.
Mrs. Abe was retired from the dietary department at Memorial Hospital.
She was Protestant by faith, and a member of the Woodmen of the World.
Surviving are three daughters, Eleanor Abbott, Glen Burnie, Md., Jeanetta Lloyd and husband David, Brocklin Park, Md., and Nedra Ruckman, Killeen, Texas; three sons, Ronald Abe and wife Betty, Beans Cove, Pa., Richard Abe and wife Carol, Fort Ashby, and Walter Abe and wife Donna, Ridgeley; one brother, Charles Valentine, Short Gap; two sisters, Gladys Long, Beans Cove, Pa., and Ethel Shertzer, Lancaster, Pa.; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Oscar Ohler officiating.
Interment will be in Fort Ashby Cemetery.
MERLE R. ABE
MOUNT SAVAGE - Merle Richard Abe, 72, of Mount Savage, died Tuesday, April 1, 1997, at his residence.
Born in Fort Ashby, W.Va., Aug. 31, 1924, he was the son of Lucy Virginia (Wright) Abe, Sarasota, Fla., and the late Clarence Raymond Abe.
Mr. Abe was a maintenance electrician at Kansas City Community College, Kansas City, Kan. He retired in 1988.
He was a U.S. Navy Seaman First Class in World War II.
Mr. Abe was a member of the Old Furnace Church of the Brethren.
He was a graduate of Fort Ashby High School in 1943. He graduated from the Lincoln School of Welding, Cleveland, Ohio, in 1949.
He was a charter member of the Brethren Church, Bradenton, Fla. He worked as a home missionary, Kansas City, Kan.
He also enjoyed his home woodworking shop.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Mary Louise (Bennett) Abe; a son, the Rev. Stephen E. Abe and wife Susan, Elkins, W.Va.; a daughter, Constance (Abe) Reyes and husband the Rev. Carlos R. Reyes, Mount Savage.; three sisters, G. Dimple Ward and husband Lee, Rochester, N.Y., Esther V. Foltz and husband Willis, Inwood, W.Va., and Marion A. Morgan, Sarasota, Fla.; three granddaughters, Joanna and Stephanie Abe, Elkins, W.Va., and Tabitha Blair, Mount Savage.
Friends will be received at the George-Upchurch Funeral Home, 202 Greene St., on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Old Furnace Church of the Brethren on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Calvin Roop, the Rev. Stephen E. Abe and the Rev. Carlos R. Reyes officiating.
Interment will be in the Abe Cemetery.

RIDGELEY, W.Va. - Ralph Leslie Abe, 86, of Ridgeley, died Wednesday, April 23, 1997, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born May 7, 1910, in Ridgeley, he was the son of the late Grover C. Abe, and Mary K. (Everett) Abe.
He also was preceded in death by three brothers, Ernest Abe, Marshall Abe, and George C. Abe; and three sisters, Thelma Aldridge, Erma Saville, and Hazel Miller.
Surviving are a number of nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Saturday at 10 a.m.
Burial will be in Everett Cemetery, Ridgeley.
TODD R. ABE
CUMBERLAND - Todd Ray Abe, 21, of Oak Street, Cumberland, went to be with Jesus along with his aunt, Dianna Brown, on Wednesday, March 26, 1997. Todd passed away at the Sacred Heart Hospital Hospice Unit.
Born Aug. 3, 1975, in Cumberland, Todd was a 1994 graduate of Fort Hill High School. He attended the Livingstone Church of the Brethren.
Surviving are a special aunt, "Mom" Joan Fryant, Pennsville, N.J.; his father and stepmother, Rick and Wendy Abe, Cumberland; his grandfather, Ivan Abe and stepgrandmother Edna, Cumberland; his grandmother, Aileen Abe; his great-grandmother, Ellen Lepley, Cumberland; special friend, Teresa Hackett, N.J.; three brothers, Nicholas Tabler, at home, Jessie and John Dillsworth, at home; one sister, Melanie Abe, at home; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Friends will be received at the Leasure-Stein Funeral Home on Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m.
A joint funeral service with his aunt Dianna Brown will be conducted on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Timothy Monn officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Charles Smith Jr., Josh Zembower, Sam Warner, Ron Beerhalter, Bill Beerhalter, and Ricky Bosley Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Clark, Dale Wright Jr., and Brooks Warner III.
GRACE E. ABERNATHY
ELK GARDEN, W.Va. - Grace Elizabeth Abernathy, 81, of Elk Garden, died Wednesday, April 2, 1997, in the Washington Hospital Center, Washington, D.C.
Born Nov. 14, 1915, in Greenland Gap, she was the daughter of the late C. E. and Emma (Moreland) Reed.
She also was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. "Bud" Abernathy; four brothers; and three sisters.
Grace was retired from the Mineral County Health Department. She was a member of Sulphur United Methodist Church; the Charge Choir; the United Methodist Women Church Group; Rebecca Lodge; and the Ladies Auxiliary, VFW Mount Storm.
Surviving are two sons, Dale and wife Ginny Abernathy, Keyser, and Dick and wife Bobbie Abernathy, Marion, N.C.; two daughters, Dorothy Schoenly, and Jean Knotts and husband Cliff, all of Elk Garden; one sister, Corrine Reed, Harrisburg, Pa.; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, Kitzmiller, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Nethken Hill Methodist Church Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. William Withers and the Rev. Joseph Gerstell officiating.
Interment will be in the IOOF Cemetery, Elk Garden.
