Lucille J. "Dolly" Arnold
Lucille "Dolly" Juliet Arnold, 80, of Hanover, Pa., died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 1999, at Hanover General Hospital, from an extended illness.
Born April 23, 1919, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Minna Hahn Schwickart. She was the wife of Paul Richard Arnold, to whom she was married for almost 60 years.
She previously worked in orthopedics at University Hospital. She had taught ballet and tap, and ballroom dancing. She was also a homemaker.
She was a collector of early pattern glass. She loved auctions and Baltimore Orioles baseball.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are daughter and son-in-law Helen and Lee Holland of Westminster; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by twin brother Howard Schwickart and sister Jean Slacum.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, with the Rev. David Duley officiating. Interment will be in Lorraine Park Cemetery in Woodlawn.

Julia Baisley
Julia Baisley, 84, of Lochearn, died Monday, Nov. 1, 1999, at her home.
Born Nov. 19, 1914, in Gilberton, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John and Eva Boris Krolick. She was the wife of the late William Oran Baisley.
She had been a retail store manager at the former Gaxton's on Charles Street, and as a buyer for the former Clayton's Pimlico and Wexter's of Westview.
Surviving are daughters Jewel E. Kuehne of Inverness, Fla., and Patricia A. Garrison of Lochearn; sister Frances Love of Floral City, Fla.; and two grandchildren.
A funeral liturgy will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, from the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Assumption of Mary, 400 block of Cathedral Street, Baltimore. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park, Sykesville.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the church, where a recitation of the holy rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m.

Martin J. Matsko, Sr.
Martin Joseph Matsko, Sr., 60, of Woodbine, died Monday, Nov. 1, 1999, at Carroll County General Hospital.
Born June 25, 1939, in Oneida, Pa., he was the son of the late John and Johanna Maylath Matsko. He was the husband of Patricia Katherine Seif Matsko of Woodbine.
He had been a medical sciences liaison with Sandoz Pharmaceuticals. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Eldersburg, where he was active in the Health Care Ministry. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Fulton Sheen Council No. 7612. He volunteered at Johns Hopkins Hospital visiting the sick. He was a member of the Old Line Statesmen Barbershop Chorus.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are son Martin Joseph Matsko Jr. of Germantown; daughters Suzanne Marie Matsko of Baltimore and Christine Elizabeth Matsko of Towson; brothers John Matsko of Ambler, Pa., and James Matsko of Pocono Mountains, Pa.; sisters Eleanor Matsko of Conshohocken, Pa., Marie Haber of Lafayette Hill, Pa., Joan Gerace of Northfield, N.J., and Cecelia Armas of California; and many nieces and nephews.

Roland E. Watkins
Roland E. Watkins, 82, of Ellicott City, died Monday, Nov. 1, 1999.
Born Oct. 9, 1917, in Monrovia, he was the son of the late John S. and Melissa Day Watkins. He was the husband of Ruth N. Herring Watkins.
He was a 1938 graduate of Western Maryland College, where he was president of Beta Beta Beta. After 40 years, he retired from International Harvester in Baltimore.
He had been in the Army, having fought in World War II and the Korean War, and was a participant in the D-Day invasion. He was decorated with a Bronze Star.
He was an avid gardener.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughter Karen Naomi Watkins of New Market; sons and daughters-in-law John Wayne and Sandy Watkins of Taylorsville, Richard Gary and Olivia Watkins of Woodbine, and Mark Douglas and Jean Watkins of Finksburg; brother John Latimer Watkins of Damascus; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a great granddaughter.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Slack Funeral Home, 3871 Old Columbia Pike, Ellicott City. Interment will be in Crestlawn Memorial Gardens.

Margaret H. Zepp
Margaret Harriett Hobbs Zepp, 74, of Sykesville, died Monday, Nov. 1, 1999, at Carroll County General Hospital.
Born Dec. 1, 1924, in Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Walter Edward and Harriett Arrington Hobbs. She was the wife of the late Harry Earl Zepp.
She had been a homemaker for most of her life.
Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law Gregory A. and Glenda Zepp of Sparks and Ronald E. and Susan Zepp of Westminster; sister Doris E. Russell of Pasadena; and two grandchildren.
She was predeceased by brother Allen Hobbs.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday from Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville, with the Rev. John Nupp officiating. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park, Sykesville.

Raymond B. Greenholtz
Raymond Benjamin Greenholtz, 94, of Long View Nursing Home, Manchester, died Tuesday evening, Sept. 30, 1997, at the nursing home.
Born Aug. 21, 1903, in Maryland, he was the son of the late Samuel Greenholtz. He was the husband of Clara Effie Greenholtz, who died in June 1996.
A former 30-year resident of Finksburg, he worked 25 years as a milkman for Western Maryland Dairy in Baltimore. He owned and operated his own grocery store in Baltimore for 15 years, and then worked for Myers Grocery, retiring at age 68. He was a member of the Door to Virtue Lodge of Westminster No. 46, AF&AM.
Surviving are daughter Joan Lee Balton of Sykesville; two grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by sister Adelia Duvall.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. today at the Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster, with the Rev. Stanley Witson officiating. Private interment will be at the convenience of the family in Pipe Creek Cemetery, Uniontown.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until time of services Thursday.

George E. Kievning
George Edward Kievning, 76, of Westminster, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 1997, at his home after an extended illness.
Born Sept. 8, 1921, in Newark, N.J., he was the son of the late Frederick and Lena Hasler Kievning. He was the husband of Inez Doebler Kievning, his wife of 50 years.
He retired from Worthington Pump in Taneytown, where he was employed for 47 years. He was a World War II veteran and received a B.S. degree from Rutgers University. He was a member of the Boy Scout Fraternity Gamma Phi, Madison Lodge No. 93 F&A Masons, the National Purchasing Agents Association. He was a guest speaker at purchasing industry events and was published in several trade journals. He was a volunteer for Food Sunday He was a member and trustee of the First United Presbyterian Church of Westminster and past member and deacon of Memorial Presbyterian Church in Newark, N.J.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughter and son-in-law Inez P. and Jerry Baldwin of Hampstead; and a grandson.
He was predeceased by sisters Ann O'Connor and Viola Carlin, and brothers August, Louis and Frederick Kievning.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First United Presbyterian Church, 65 Washington Road, Westminster, with his pastor, the Rev. Steven R. Fleming, officiating.

Monroe R. Pfoutz
Monroe Richard Pfoutz, 83, of Westminster, formerly of Union Bridge, died Wednesday, Oct. 1, in Union Bridge.
Born Feb. 26, 1914, near Union Bridge, he was the son of the late Jesse and Malla Pittinger Pfoutz. He was the husband of LuEllen Cover Pfoutz.
He was active in the lumber and stair construction business and the building industry. In 1940, he founded his own construction company. In 1961, he founded the M.R. Pfoutz & Sons Corp. Then, in 1981, he founded the Prime Manufacturing Co., a subsidiary of the original company. He was a charter member of the Union Bridge Lions Club and served on the Carroll County Economics Development Commission and the Parks and Recreation Board.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons Richard C. Pfoutz of Columbus, Ohio, Robert W. Pfoutz and Thomas D. Pfoutz, both of Union Bridge; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services and interment are private at the request of the deceased. There will be no public visitation at the funeral home. A memorial service may be announced at a later date.
If desired, memorials may be made in his name to the church of one's choice.

Della M. Thomas
Della M. Thomas, 92, of Westminster, died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 1997, at the Westminster Nursing Home.
Born Nov. 13, 1904, in Carroll County, she was the daughter of the late David O. and Rose Deamer Wentz. She was the wife of the late Russell G. Thomas, who died May 19, 1970.
She retired from the English American Tailoring Co., Westminster, formerly known as the Grief Sewing Factory. She was member of the Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Union.
She is survived by daughters Genevieve M. Eckard of Taneytown and Helen L. Wolf of Silver Run; brothers Edgar Wentz of Pleasant Hill, Pa., and Herbert Wentz of Massachusetts; eight grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 11 great great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by daughter Julia A. Daugherty, sister Florena Martin, and brothers Paul, Chester, Jacob, Roy, Oscar, Elwood and Cleatus Wentz.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Little's Funeral Home, Littlestown, with the Revs. Matthew S. Schenning and Norma L. Schenning officiating. Interment will be in Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Manchester.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
E. Virginia Burke
E. Virginia Burke, 88, of Taneytown, died Tuesday, April 28, 1998, at Mariner Health of Forest Hill.
Born in Warfieldsburg Aug. 14, 1909, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary Anne Richter Rickell. She was the wife of James F. Burke, who died in 1959.
For many years, she worked as a sales clerk at Buamgardner's Bakery in Taneytown. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Taneytown, a charter member of the Taneytown Fire Company Ladies' Auxiliary and a member of the Taneytown Senior Citizens.
Surviving are daughter and son-in-law Patricia and Dale Sloop of Belair; sister Frances Easton of Westminster; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was predeceased by one grandson.
A funeral liturgy will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Church, Frederick Street, Taneytown, with the Rev. Martin Feild officiating. Interment will be in Grace UCC Cemetery, Taneytown.
