Jennie N. Blazowski
Jennie Nellie Blazowski, 82, of Westminster, died Sunday, April 26, 1998, at Carroll County General Hospital.
Born Sept. 22, 1915, in Ambridge, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Paul and Nellie Kwiatanowski.
She was the wife of Joseph Blazowski.
She was an active member of St. Bartholomew's Roman Catholic Church in Manchester, and the first woman lector in the Baltimore Diocese.
She also played the organ.
She graduated from the Ambridge Senior High School in 1933, and from Slippery Rock State Teachers College in 1937 with a Bachelor of Science degree in education.
She taught school in Ambridge for ten years.
After she married, she and her husband resided in Baltimore, where she was employed by the William and Wilkens Publishing Company.
After moving to Catonsville, she was a substitute teacher and then a permanent teacher in the Oella and Catonsville Elementary schools for several years.
She then worked as a reporter for the Herald Argus Newspaper in Catonsville and the Community News in Randallstown.
While at the papers, she was circulation manager, an assistant editor and wrote "Across the Line", a column on auctions.
Shortly after moving to Westminster, she served as YMCA secretary.
She volunteered at the tourist center in National Bank building lobby.
An active member of the Hillsdale Homemakers Club, she held several offices.
During World War II, she served with the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are brother Edwin Kwiatanowski of Ambridge; nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by brothers Edward, Leo and William; and by sisters Helen Solero and Regina Kwiatanowski.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Bartholomew's Roman Catholic Church, Manchester.
Interment will follow in the church's cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Pritts Funeral Home, 412 Washington Road, Westminster.

Caroline B. DeVese
Caroline Burnett DeVese, 80, of Pikesville, died Sunday, April 26, 1998, at her daughter's home in Taneytown after an extended illness.
Born in Frederick on May 5, 1917, she was the daughter of the late George O. and Lillian Lowe Grossnickle.
She was the wife of Leroy "Snooks" DeVese, who died in 1977.
A housewife, she had been employed by the American Diabetes Association, and had been a clerical worker for the Baltimore County Board of Education.
She was a life member of Ionic Chapter No. 73 Order of the Eastern Star.
Surviving, are daughters Linda D. Brown of Taneytown, and Joan R. Sherman of Parkville; brother David "Merle" Grossnickle of Ohio; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday at the Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills, with the Rev. Jack H. Cassel of Stone Chapel United Methodist Church officiating.
Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.

William "Randy" Hohmes (1 of 2)
William Randall "Randy" Hohmes, 56, of Sykesville, died Saturday, April 25, 1998, at Carroll County General Hospital as the result of a heart attack.
Born April 22, 1942, in Maryland, he was the son of Ralph Kenneth Hancock of Eldersburg, and the late Jane Hancock. He was the husband of Shar A. Hohmes.
He was a member of Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, where he served on the property committee.
He was also on the board of directors of Sykesville Little League.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons Chad R. Hohmes and Brad E. Hohmes, both of Sykesville.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Haight Funeral Home and Chapel, Md. 32 Sykesville, with the Rev. Eugene Alexander officiating.
Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park, Sykesville.

William Randall "Randy" Hohmes, 56, of Sykesville, died Saturday, April 25, 1998, at Carroll County General Hospital after a heart attack.
Born April 22, 1942, in Maryland, he was the son of the late Alfred and Margaret Hohmes and the husband of Shar A. Hohmes.

Roy O. Cavey
Roy Oscar Cavey, 82, of Westminster, died Saturday, April 25, 1998, at his home following an extended illness.
Born in Ellicott City, he was the son of the late George C. and Lula Ellis Cavey.
He was the husband of Mary Katherine Cavey for 60 years.
He retired in 1980 from Singer-Link and was a veteran of World War II.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are son Donald Cavey of Catonsville; daughter Dorothy A. Kolodziejski of Tracy, Calif.; brothers George L. Cavey of Catonsville and Paul M. Cavey of Ellicott City; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was predeceased by brother Clarence E. Cavey.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster, with the Rev. C. Bittle Foster officiating.
Interment will be in Crestlawn Cemetery.

Florence B. Denning
Florence B. Denning, 75, of Eldersburg, died Saturday, April 25, 1998, at Carroll County General Hospital.
Born March 3, 1923, in Philadelphia, she was the wife of the late Joseph E. Denning.
She had been a homemaker most of her life.
Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law Mary Jean and Karl Reiter and Frances Mary and Bill Bierling, all of Sykesville; and son and daughter-in-law Jack and Barbara Boese of Villa Park, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
There will be no public service.
Interment will be in St. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield, Pa.

William L. Ferro
William Lee Albert Ferro, 93, of Owings Mills, died Saturday, April 25, 1998, at Carroll County General Hospital after a brief illness.
Born Sept. 19, 1904, in Newport News, Va., he was the son of the late Antonio and Philomena Dinori Ferro. He was the husband of Mary Houck Ferro.
Before retiring, he worked as a shipfitter with Maryland Dry Dock for many years.
He also was a retired treasurer with Baltimore Credit Union.
A Mason most of his life, he received his 50-year pin from Bredmond Lodge No. 0241.
He also belonged to the Scottish Rite and Boumi Temple and was a member of Baltimore County Baptist Church in Reisterstown.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughter Frankie Marie Ferro of Owings Mills; sister Mary Lee of Newport News; one granddaughter; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills, with the Rev. David Leblanc of Baltimore County Baptist Church officiating.
Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park, Sykesville.

Mary D. Simpson
Mary Davis Jones Simpson, 74, of Sykesville, died Saturday, April 25, 1998, at Brightwood Eldercare, Brooklandville.
Born in Maryland on Feb. 15, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Patch and Margaret McDermott Jones.
For most of her life, she had been a homemaker.
Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law Joseph B. and Linda Simpson of Sykesville, and Patrick Michael and Betsy Simpson of Reisterstown; daughter Debra Mary Nicholson of San Francisco; several brothers and sisters; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by sons Samuel Patrick Simpson and Daniel Melvin Simpson.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday from Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 2930 Frederick Road, Baltimore.
