CLYDE K. HANLIN
Clyde Kenneth Hanlin, 83, Mt. Storm, W.Va., died Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born Jan. 29, 1919, in Bayard, W.Va., he was a son of the late Warner H. and Freda J. (Likens) Hanlin. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Elmer Hanlin, Garland Hanlin, Lester Hanlin, and Ernest Hanlin; and three sisters, Floe-Jean Carter, Pauline Reedy, and Alice M. George.
He was a member of the Locust Grove Church of the Brethren. He was a retired timber man and saw mill worker, and was a former employee of the West Virginia Roads Department.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy E. (Foley) Hanlin; one daughter, Gloria E. Kessel, Mt. Storm; five sisters, Evelyn Bosley, Mt. Storm, Betty Cosner, Romney, W.Va., Glenna Streets and Leona Dawson, both of Arthur, W.Va., and Laura Shreve, Oakland; one grandchild; and one great-grandson.
Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, where a service was held on Monday, Dec. 9, with the Rev. John Walker and Rev. Greg Cummings officiating.
Interment was in the Mt. Storm Cemetery.
CARL E. DUCKWORTH
Carl Everett Duckworth, 86, Accident, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, at the Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville.
Born July 4, 1916, at Keyser's Ridge, he was the son of the late Everett Scott and Luceil (Folk) Duck-worth. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Sally R. Coddington; and one sister, Mabel Brenneman.
He was a member of the McHenry United Methodist Church, the Garrett County Farm Bureau, and a former member of the Men's Brotherhood of the church. He was a retired dairy farmer.
Surviving are his wife, Deretta B. (Brenneman) Duckworth, Accident; one son, Allen C. Duckworth, Woodbridge, Va.; one daughter, Arlene D. McKenzie, Accident; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, McHenry, where a service was held on Sunday, Dec. 8, with the Rev. Warren Friend officiating.
Interment was in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery (ELCA), Accident.

HELEN I. HOLLIDAY
Helen Irene Holliday, 78, Grantsville, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, at Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville.
Born May 25, 1924, in New Baltimore, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Henry Joseph and Alice Melinda (Fazenbaker) Firle Sr. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Holliday, Dec. 17, 1989; one son, David; one sister, Margaret; and one granddaughter.
She was a seamstress for the Flushing Shirt Manufacturing Company, Grantsville, and was a member of the Harvest Baptist Church, Grantsville.
Surviving are three sons, Robert S. Holliday, Phillipsburg, N.J., Thomas R. Holliday, Boynton, Pa., and Kenneth P. Holliday, Grantsville; three daughters, Rose Marie Barnard, Springs, Pa., Wanda K. Folk, Grantsville, and Emily K. Spiker, Grantsville; two brothers, Edward F. Firle, Duquesne, Pa., and Henry J. Firle Jr., Meyersdale, Pa.; one half brother, Charles H. Firle, Lakeland, Fla.; two sisters, Grace C. Ringler and Gladys V. Hemmings, both of Meyersdale; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, where a service was conducted on Saturday, Dec. 7, with the Rev. Alan Birkby officiating.
Interment was in the Silbaugh Cemetery, Fort Hill, Pa.
THOMAS HAYWOOD JR.
Thomas Haywood Jr., 86, of 358 Hazelhurst Lane, Swanton, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at the home of his daughter Dorothy in Westernport.
Born June 14, 1916, in Luke, he was a son of the late Thomas and Amanda (Troy) Haywood Sr. His wife, Rosalie (Harvey) Haywood, one son-in-law, Harry Lee Brode, several brothers, and one sister also preceded him in death.
Mr. Haywood was retired from MeadWestvaco Corp., as an electrical supervisor, having 44 years of service. He was a member of the I.B.E.W. electrical union, and was Protestant by faith.
Surviving are two daughters, Dorothy Brode, Westernport, and Marilyn Malcolm and husband Thomas, Swanton; one brother, Norman Haywood, Keyser, W.Va.; one sister, Margaret Wolfe, Keyser; four grandchildren, Terri Weaver, Oakland, Scott Brode, Morgantown, W.Va., Christopher Malcolm and fiancée Belinda Redman, Petersburg, W.Va., and Eric Malcolm and wife Lori, Swanton; seven great-grandchil-dren, Jason Weaver, Oakland, Shane Weaver, Oakland, Ashley Malcolm, Stonewall, La., Amy Malcolm, Stonewall, Sierra Malcolm, Petersburg, Mariah Malcolm, Petersburg, and Nixon Malcolm, Swanton.
At Mr. Haywood's request, his body was cremated.
There will be no visitation.

ROBERT F. DEYOUNG
Robert Frank DeYoung, 73, Oakland, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, at his residence.
Born April 30, 1929, in Grand Rapids, Mich., he was a son of Margaret (VanDriel) DeYoung and the late Frank DeYoung. He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Ruth Ann (Currer) DeYoung.
He was the owner of Woodlake Tree Farm in Deer Park. He was retired after 34 years with American of Martinsville Furniture Co., where he was employed as the district manager of sales.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by six children, Peggy Hart and Tom DeYoung, both of Rockville, Connie Larsen, McHenry, Charlie DeYoung, Chestertown, Patty DeYoung, Chevy Chase, and Krissy Barcus, Virginia Beach, Va.; and 12 grandchildren.
According to his wishes, his body was cremated. A memorial service was conducted at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church on Saturday, Dec. 7, with the Rev. Father Chip Lee officiating.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials take the form of contributions to Stephen's Table, c/o St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 303, Oakland, MD 21550; or the Garrett County Memorial Hospital Foundation, 251 North Fourth St., Oakland, MD 21550.

JENETTE A. WARNICK
Jenette A. Warnick, 96, Elk Garden, W.Va., died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Aug. 15, 1906, in Tunnelton, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Harry and Grace (Martin) Warnick. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William G. Warnick Sr.
Surviving are one son, William G. Warnick Jr., Elk Garden; and one sister, Mary Eye, Albright, W.Va.
A service was held in the David A Burdock Funeral Home, Kitzmiller, on Friday, Dec. 6, with the Rev. Sam Calhoun officiating.
Interment was in the IOOF Cemetery, Elk Garden.
CHRISTA A. BROWNING
Christa A. Browning, 77, Keyser, W.Va., died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002, at Heartland Nursing Home, Keyser.
Born Feb. 6, 1925, in Deer Park, she was the daughter of the late Scott Benjamin and Minnie (Hardesty) Tasker. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Browning. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She was a mail carrier in the Kitzmiller area for seven years. She was also an inspector at Bausch & Lomb, Oakland, and a homemaker. She was a member of the Deer Park United Methodist Church, and attended the Laureldale United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Mineral County Committee on Aging.
Surviving are three children, Michael V. Pratt, Gibsonburg, Ohio, Carolyn "Connie" Ann Wilson, Oakland, and Georgeanna T. Beckman, Keyser; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
At her request, her body was cremated. A memorial service was held today, Thursday, Dec. 12, with the Rev. Gwen Wolford officiating.
Inurnment was in the Deer Park Cemetery, Deer Park.

ALVIN R. LEWIS SR.
Alvin R. "Bud" Lewis Sr., 61, Oakland, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002, at his home.
Born March 16, 1941, in Oakland, he was a son of Howard C. Lewis Sr., Oakland, and the late Nora E. (Friend) Lewis.
He was a member of the Gortner Union Church. He was employed as a mechanic for the Beitzel Corp., Grantsville, and was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, Azelma M. (Titler) Lewis; one son, Alvin R. Lewis Jr., Terra Alta, W.Va.; two stepsons, Sean McGoldrick, Oakland, and Michael S. McGoldrick, Falling Waters, W.Va.; two sisters, Alveta Whitacre, Wayne, Mich., and Nadine Whitacre, Oakland; two brothers, Lindsey A. Lewis, Oakland, and Howard C. Lewis Jr., Terra Alta; two grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland. A service was held at the Gortner Union Church today, Thursday, Dec. 12, with the Rev. Steve Souder officiating.
Interment was in the Gortner Cemetery.
Military honors were accorded at the cemetery by members of the various veteran's organizations in southern Garrett County.

JAN B. SNYDER
Jan Buell Snyder, 68, Confluence, Pa., died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002.
Born Aug. 10, 1934, in Confluence, he was the son of the late Armour and Eleanor (Mc-Clintock) Snyder Frazee. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Bert W. Frazee.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and a life member of Confluence VFW Post 7250. He was also a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Addison, Pa., a board member of Addison Cemetery Association, a member of the Confluence Borough Council, and a member of the Meyersdale Lodge 554 F&AM. He was a 1952 graduate of Turkeyfoot Valley Joint High School, a sales representative for the Accident Garage, Accident, for 18 years, and a former salesman for Nace Chevrolet of Confluence and Henry's of New Centerville, Pa.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Bernice (Peters) Snyder; one son, Vance, Meyersdale, Pa.; three daughters, Chris Ann Wilson, Markleysburg, Pa., Ronda Riesco, Virginia Beach, Va., and Tara Blank-enship, Austin, Texas; one sister, Rama Kay Snyder Miller, Confluence; and one stepsister, Marlin Frazee Frazee, West Richfield, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Friends were received at the Humbert Funeral Home, Confluence. A service was held at St. John's Lutheran Church, Addison, on Tuesday, Dec. 10, with the Rev. William Triebe, Rev. Randy Nairn, and Rev. Fr. James Gleason officiating.
Interment was in Addison Cemetery.
