Harold Hart
A memorial service for Harold Hart Sr., 79, of Tacoma, Wash., was held yesterday at the New Tacoma Cemeteries and Funeral Homes.
Mr. Hart died Jan. 21, 2002 at Madigan Army Hospital in Lakewood, Wash., after a long illness.
He was born in Elkhorn, W.Va., on Jan. 13, 1923.
At age 17, he joined the Army where he served for 26 years. He fought in World War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars. He received the Bronze Star and the Purple Hart among his numerous medals.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Betty "Mama" Hart; three sons, Richard and Jack Hart of Washington state and Harold Hart Jr. of Alaska; five daughters, Judy Hook, Nancy Hart, Patty Diaz, Chris Shenkel and Linda Huffman of Washington state; his mother, Nellie Hart of Alvin, Texas; four brothers, Frank and Charles Hart of Danville, Va., Edmund Hart of Alvin and Roger Hart of Versales, Mo.; three sisters, Agnes I. Maynard of Annapolis, Shirley Chatham of Edgewood and Juanita Collier of Alvin; 19 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
At a later date, entombment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery Mausoleum in Annapolis. Arrangements are by the Taylor Funeral Hom.

Lorraine Marcellino
Lorraine Irene Marcellino, 55, a resident of Edgewater for 18 years and formerly of Essex, died of cancer Jan. 25, 2002 at her home after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Marcellino was born May 6, 1946, in Baltimore. She was a programmer analyst with Bethlehem Steel Corp. at its Sparrows Point plant in Baltimore County where she worked for more than 30 years.
She enjoyed boating, fishing and cooking.
Surviving are her husband, Joseph Marcellino, whom she married July 3, 1984; two sons, George J. Rauh of Las Vegas, Nev., and Christopher Rauh of Crofton; her mother and stepfather, Irene and Jank Harchut of Baltimore; one sister, Lois Walton of Baltimore; and three grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 515 Loch Haven Road, Edgewater. Arrangements are by Kalas Funeral Home in Edgewater.

Effie Plastiras
Effie "Fifi" Plastiras, 84, a resident for the last five years of assisted living facilities in the Annapolis area and previously of Pottstown, Pa., died of natural causes at Kris Leigh Assisted Living in Gambrills.
Mrs. Pastiras was born in Trikala, Greece, on Jan. 15, 1918. As a young bride, she moved to the United States. She and her husband, Theodore G. Plastiras, owned and operated a restaurant in Pottstown for 50 years.
Mr. Plastiras died Jan. 31, 1981.
She was a member of Ss. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Reading, Pa. She was considered an excellent seamstress and loved gardening, especially roses.
Surviving are her daughter, Georgia P. Morgan of Arnold; her brother, Arthur Koutsia, and her sister, Helen Stergiou of Trikala; and one grandchild.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. tomorrow at Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road in Edgewater. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Ss. Constantine and Helen Eastern Orthodox Church, 2747 Riva Road in Annapolis. Burial will be on Tuesday in Highland Cemetery in Pottstown.

John Bingen
Retired Army Capt. John R. Bingen, 83, a resident of Odenton since 1967, died of natural causes Jan. 20, 2002 at the Woodbine Rehabilitation Center in Alexandria, Va.
Capt. Bingen was born in Lynchburg, Va. While serving in the Army, he was disabled as a result of a plane crash while on maneuvers at Camp A.P. Hill in Virginia in 1951. He retired from the Army in 1952.
He was a member of Nichols Bethel United Methodist Church in Odenton and enjoyed golf and reading.
Surviving are his wife, Frances N. Bingen; his son, Barron Bingen of Arlington, Va.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was the father of the late Jan Richard Bingen.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Hardesty Funeral Home, 851 Annapolis Road in Gambrills. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Nichols Bethel United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Arlington National Cemetery at 1 p.m.

Rita Booker
Rita Dolores Booker, 78, of Linthicum, died of natural causes Jan. 28, 2002 at her home.
A homemaker, Mrs. Booker was born Nov. 19, 1923, in Pennsylvania, and served in the Navy as a WAVE at the Philadelphia Naval Base during World War II.
She was the daughter of the late Charles and Annie Mostyn Goss.
Surviving are her husband of 54 years, James W. Booker Jr.; one son, James W. Booker III of Pasadena; one daughter, Linda McCabe of Stevensville; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Singleton Funeral Home, 1 Second Ave. SW, Glen Burnie, where services will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow. Burial will be in Meadowridge Cemetery in Elkridge.

Linda Chesto
Linda E. Chesto, 60, of Annapolis and formerly of Severna Park, died of colon cancer Jan. 28, 2002 at Stella Maris Hospice at Mercy Hospital in Baltimore after a brief illness.
Mrs. Chesto was born Nov. 12, 1941, in Grundy, Va., and was a homemaker. She enjoyed shopping and travel.
On April 13, 1974, she married Lawrence F. Chesto.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Shawna Chesto of Slippery Rock, Pa., Moira Parham of Fort Meade and Forney Chesto Ruck of Ellicott City; her mother, Hester Smith of Bristol, Va.; one brother, Larry Smith of Matewan, W.Va.; and three grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will be said at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 620 N. Bestgate Road. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Arrangements are by Kalas Funeral Home in Edgewater.

Fred DeJesus
Fred "Rico" DeJesus, 41, of Annapolis, died of a heart attack Jan. 27, 2002 at North Arundel Hospital.
Mr. DeJesus was born Feb. 19, 1960, in Annapolis and graduated from Annapolis High Shool in 1980. He was a carrier for The Capital from July to October 2001.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and enjoyed sports and reading.
Surviving are three daughters, Tyneikia Nicole, Ashley Demetria and Chelsea Nishae DeJesus; his parents, Catherine and Fidel DeJesus; his grandmother, Nellie DeJesus, all of Annapolis; and his stepmother, Bernice DeJesus of Philadelphia, Pa.
Also surviving are five brothers, Craig DeJesus of Glen Dale, Juan DeJesus of Randallstown and Fidel DeJesus Jr. and Raphael and Keith DeJesus, all of Annapolis; and eight sisters, Deborah DeJesus-Williams of Severn, Audra DeJesus-Garrison of Atlanta, Ga., Linda DeJesus-Owens of Dale City, Va., Carmen DeJesus-Heard of Philadelphia, and Marcia, June, Karen and Lisa DeJesus, all of Annapolis.
His oldest brother, Eugene Fernandez, died in February 1992.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. tomorrow at Reese and Sons Mortuary, 821 West St. A Mass of Christian burial will be said at 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 620 N. Bestgate Road. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Marilyn Hudson
Marilyn R. Hudson, 80, of Stevensville, died Jan. 28, 2002 at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring.
Born on Nov. 12, 1921, in Williston, S.C., Mrs. Hudson was the daughter of the late Martin and Lottie Inez Smith Ranew. She graduated in 1937 from Williston High School.
She moved to Washington, D.C., and on April 13, 1968 married William Edward Hudson, who died on June 21, 2001.
Mrs. Hudson worked for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for 16 years until her retirement in 1984.
She was very active in the Island Idlers and the National Association of Federal Employees and helped with fund raising for the American Heart Association and the Kent Island Library in Stevensville. She also volunteered with the SHARE Program, Habitat for Humanity and Save the Bay. She also helped with the 1990 Census.
Her passion was to plant things.
Surviving are two sons, John Lawlor Jr. of Merritt Island, Fla., and Michael Renew of Martinsburg, W.Va.; three daughters, Teresa Montana of Middletown, Del., Kathleen Gwynn of Frederick and Lisa Mustakas of Gettysburg, Pa.; her brother, Frank Renew of Sarasota, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Her brother, William Ranew, died in 1998.
Visitation will be at 1 p.m. and services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 106 Shamrock Road, Chester. Burial will be private.

George Pikula
George J. Pikula, 95, of Annapolis and previously of Pittsburgh, Pa., died of heart failure Jan. 28, 2002 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Baltimore after a long illness.
Mr. Pikula was born March 21, 1906, and raised in McKeesport, Pa.
During World War II he served in the Army. Due to a combat injury, he became permanently disabled and was honorably discharged in 1945. Mr. Pikula lived in Pittsburgh until 1986 when he moved to Annapolis to live with his brother-in-law, Frank D. Brendza.
He was a member of St. Andrew by the Bay Catholic Church, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 3 of Annapolis and the Blinded Veterans Association of Washington, D.C.
Mr. Pikula enjoyed listening to the radio, music, sports and vacationing at the beach.
In addition to his brother-in-law, he is survived by his brother, Joseph Pikula of Edinboro, Pa., and his sister, Helen Ventura of McKeesport. His sisters Elizabeth Ann Brendza died in 1990 and Irene Russell in 1997.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 11 a.m. tomorrow at St. Andrew by the Bay Catholic Church, 701 College Parkway in Cape St. Claire. Burial will follow at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.

Russell Wemple
Russell Wemple, 78, of Harwood and formerly of Baltimore, died of cancer Jan. 26, 2002 at his sister's home in Harwood after a brief illness.
Mr. Wemple was born Nov. 6, 1924, in Danville, Va., where he graduated from Langston High School. He served in the Navy as a seaman first class during World War II from 1940 to 1946.
He retired from the Baltimore City Housing authority. His interests included reading.
Surviving are two daughters, Barbara and Brenda Wemple of Baltimore; three brothers, Joseph Wemple and Lawrence Wemple Jr. of Annapolis and Roosevelt Wemple of The Bronx, N.Y.; two sisters, Katie Brashears of Harwood and Beatrice Walters of Danville; and two grandchildren.
He was pre-deceased by his parents, Lawrence and Carrie Wemple, and two brothers, Linwood Louis Wemple and James Henry Wemple.
A memorial service will be private. Arrangements are by Hardesty Funeral Home in Galesville.
Linda Chesto

Marion Hewitt
Marion A. Hurley Hewitt, 93, a recent resident of Arnold and formerly of Brewster, Mass., died of natural causes Jan. 29, 2002 at Future Care-Chesapeake in Arnold after a brief illness.
Born Dec. 13, 1908, and raised in Brookline, Mass., Mrs. Hewitt was a graduate of Brookline High School. She was married in 1927 to Fred Lincoln Hewitt Jr., who died in 1992. The couple lived in Short Hills, N.J., until 1962, where she was a homemaker, past president of the Garden Club of New Jersey and very involved with the New Eyes for the Needy program.
Mrs. Hewitt was a longtime member of the Eastward Ho Country Club in Chatham, Mass., and Our Lady of the Cape Catholic Church in Brewster. She enjoyed gardening and reading.
Surviving are one son, Fred Lincoln Hewitt III of Arnold; one brother, Edward Hurley of Quincy, Mass.; four granddaughters; and eight great-grandchildren.
Her sister, Margaret Gorman, died in 1999.
Visitation will be private. A celebration of life Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Andrew by the Bay Catholic Church, 701 College Parkway near Cape St. Claire. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Weymouth, Mass.

Clara Kirby
Clara Bivins Kirby, 82, a resident of Port Orange, Fla., since 1976 and formerly of Edgewater, died Jan. 26, 2002 at Hawfield's Nursing Home in Mebane, N.C.
A homemaker, Mrs. Kirby was born in Ellaville, Ga. She was a DeMolay mother and a Cub Scout den mother.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star, the African Violet Society and the Goldwing Road Riders Association. Her interests included boating and gardening.
Her husband, Jack Kirby, died Feb. 9, 1990.
Surviving are one son, Gregory Kirby of Port Orange; a daughter, Jerry Weaver of Swepsonville, N.C.; a sister, Virginia Parbuoni of La Plata; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Burial wlll be in Volusia Memorial Cemetery in Ormond Beach, Fla.Mary LeGoreMary Young LeGore, 88, a resident of Carroll Lutheran Village in Westminster and formerly of Annapolis and Bel Air, died Jan. 29 at the Health Care Center of the retirement home.
Mrs. LeGore was born July 21, 1913, in Carroll County, the daughter of the late Charles Wilmer Young and Sarah Fringer Young.
She worked as an administrator for the State of Maryland Gasoline Tax Division. She was a member of St. Martin's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Annapolis.
Her husband, John W. LeGore, died in 1981. She was the mother of the late Mary Jane LeGore.
Surviving are two nephews, four great-nieces and three great-nephews.
Visitation is from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at Skiles Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, where services will be at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Taneytown.
Clinton Taylor
Funeral services for Clinton Rash Taylor of Austinville, Va., were held Jan. 16, 2002 at Bethany United Methodist Church in Austinville. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mr. Taylor died Jan. 13 at Beverly Healthcare in Galax, Va. The cause of death was not available.
He was born in Carroll County, Va., the son of the late James Monroe and Martha Lawson Taylor.
He was a prominent cattle and horse farmer. He retired after 44 years from Bertha Mineral Co., a division of the New Jersey Zinc Co.
Mr. Taylor was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church and the New River Trail Wagon Train and enjoyed riding with other members.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Blanch Easter Taylor.
Surviving are two daughters, Adeen T. Myers of Winston- Salem, N.C., and Hazel T. Keys of Annapolis; one granddaughter; and three great-grandchildren.
