CARL R. WEATHERHOLT
Carl Raymond Weatherholt, 88, Cumberland, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002, at New Hope Assisted Living, Mexico Farms.
Born Nov. 2, 1914, in Kitzmiller, he was a son of the late Samuel T. and Mary Ellen (Murray) Weatherholt. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Lee (Ala-mond) Weatherholt, in 1998; two brothers, Floyd Allan, in 1995, and William Murray Weatherholt, in 1993; and one son, David, in 1997.
He was a 1932 graduate of Allegany High School, and worked at the Cumberland Evening and Sunday Times as an apprentice printer, and became a journeyman printer after five years. He was a printing in-structor at Allegany High School and at the Vo-Tech. During his 37-year career at the Times, he held offices in International Local 244 and the Tri-State Typographical Conference, before retiring in 1977.
A display of instruments from the printing industry that he gave to the History House is in the exhibit room of the Allegany County House along Cumberland's Washington Street. In the 1930s, he coached the First Presbyterian Church basketball team in the Central YMCA Sunday School Basketball League. During World War II, he worked at the Kelly Plant manufacturing ammunition. He was also a member of the Cumberland Elks Lodge 63 and the National AARP.
Surviving are three sisters, Annie Alice Conant, Falls Church, Va., Betty Jane Richmeyer, Cumberland, and Sue Ellen Rowe, Ridgeley, W.Va.; and four brothers, Sherman S. Weatherholt, Cumberland, Franklin Desales Weatherholt, Las Vegas, John Charles Weatherholt, Dundalk, and Mark Clark Weatherholt, Cumberland.
At his request, his body will be cremated. There will be no visitation.
A graveside service will be conducted at a later date.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to any crippled children's organization.

DOROTHY C. RINER
Dorothy C. Riner, 86, Frostburg, died Monday, Dec. 9, 2002, at Saint Vincent dePaul Nursing Center, Frostburg, where she had been a resident for three years.
Born Sept. 14, 1916, in Finzel, she was the daughter of the late Anthony D. and Louise "Weed" (Finzel) Caton. She was also preceded in death by two husbands, Howard L. Horton and Henry C. Riner; and one brother, Marshall H. Caton.
She was a homemaker, and a member of Frostburg Church of the Brethren.
Surviving are one stepson, David C. Rinker, Gilbertsville, Pa.; one stepdaughter, Judy L. Zumpano, LaVale; and three step-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, today, Thursday, Dec. 12, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 10 a.m., with the Rev. T. Rick Riley and the Rev. T. William Preston officiating.
Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum.

EVA A. KIGHT
Eva Annetta Kight, 65, Mtn. Lake Park, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born May 10, 1937, in Kempton, she was a daughter of Flossie (Brooks) Likins and the late Joseph E. Likins.
She is survived by her husband, Sheridan Kight; three sons, Carl W. Kight and Ronald D. Kight, both of Oakland, and Patrick L. Kight, Mtn. Lake Park; four daughters, Karen L. Sweitzer, Oakland, Tammy S. Arblaster, New Eagle, Pa., Patricia L. Tasker, Mtn. Lake Park, and Lori A. DelSignore, Oakland; one brother, William G. Likins, Oakland; two sisters, Betty L. Faulk, Baird, W.Va., and Mary L. Evans, Oakland; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received today, Thursday, Dec. 12, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland.
A service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Donald Matthews officiating.
Interment will be in King Cemetery.
GALEN E. RESH
Galen Elra "Spud" Resh, 57, Accident, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002, at his residence.
Born Oct. 14, 1945, in Meyersdale, Pa., he was the son of Jessie (Resh) Resh, Accident, and the late Elra Galen Resh.
He was a bricklayer, and a member of the Bricklayer's Union. He worked for the Wings of Challenge.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Nancy K. (O'Dell) Resh; one son, Bill Resh, Accident; three daughters, Becky Guthrie and Jennifer Resh, both of Accident, and Nicole Resh, Grantsville; two sisters, Eileen Devine, Friendsville, and Judy Friend, Accident; and three grandchildren.
A service will be conducted at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, on Friday, Dec. 13, at 7 p.m., with the Rev. Curtis Ketterman officiating.
ARTENIS B. HARSH
Artenis Berry Harsh, 93, Eglon, W.Va., died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at Cortland Acres Nursing Home.
Born April 16, 1909, in Stemple Ridge, Preston County, W.Va., he was a son of the late James Nelson and Carrie Lantz Harsh. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ida Florence Judy Harsh, in 1988; and one daughter, three brothers, and one sister.
He was a retired farmer and carpenter. He was a member of the Maple Spring Church of the Brethren.
He is survived by two sons, Vernon Leroy Harsh, Bridgewater, Va., and Robert Darrell Harsh, Eglon; one daughter, Leatrice Joy Flory, Fairborn, Ohio; one brother, Jessie Harsh, Oakland; one sister, Berdena Hesse, Oakland; six grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Hinkle Funeral Home, Davis, W.Va. A service was held at the Maple Spring Church of the Brethren, Eglon, on Monday, Dec. 2, with the Rev. David Moon officiating.
Interment was in the Eglon Cemetery.
STANLEY S. SAVAGE
Stanley Steward Savage, 81, Oakland, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born Aug. 21, 1921, in Hoyes, he was a son of the late Steward Savage and Minnie (DeWitt) Savage.
He was retired from the Oakland Street Department, after 38 years of service. He was a member of the Oak Park Church of the Brethren.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Pauline (DeWitt) Savage; one son, Roger Savage, Ormond Beach, Fla.; one daughter, Marsha Deem, Oakland; two brothers, Daniel Savage, Elk Garden, W.Va., and Marlin Savage, Ormond Beach; two sisters, Dorothy Thomas, McHenry, and Annabelle DeWitt, Oakland; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one step-great-grandchild.
Friends were received at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland. A service was held at the Oak Park Church of the Brethren on Tuesday, Dec. 3, with the Rev. Mel Menker officiating.
Interment was in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens, Oakland.

ELWOOD H. CARSKADON
Elwood Harvey Carskadon, 90, of Lions Manor Nursing Home, formerly of LaVale, died Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002.
Born Dec. 11, 1911, in Breedlove (Silver Lake), W.Va., he was the son of the late George Elwood and Laura E. (Christman) Carskadon. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Odessa Sterling and Leah Carskadon; and three brothers, Verl, Cletis, and Floyd Carskadon.
He spent his childhood in Preston and Tucker counties, W.Va., and Garrett County, in particular Breedlove, Lead Mine, and Albright, W.Va., and Crellin. In young adulthood, he was employed at various coal mines in the Crellin area.
He served briefly in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and attended the Wentworth Naval Technical Institute prior to being honorably discharged for injuries he sustained. He was a self-employed plumber, as well as an employee of the Celanese Corporation of America for 35 years. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World Lodge 6, East Gate Lodge 216 AF&AM, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite, Masonic Temple, Cumberland, Cumberland Senior Citizens Group, and a former member of the McCoole Volunteer Fire Department. He was an associate member of the Dawson United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Loretta Irene (Savage) Carskadon, LaVale; one daughter, Wilma Kathleen Miller, LaVale; one sister, Marguerite C. Duling, Parkville; and three step-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Hafer Funeral Home, LaVale, where a service was conducted on Monday, Nov. 25, with the Rev. Robert Nair officiating.
Entombment followed at Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.
JAMES H. LIPSCOMB
James Harry Lipscomb, 84, Kitzmiller, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at his residence.
Born Aug. 30, 1918, in Potomac Manor, W.Va., he was the son of the late Charles and Maude (Butcher) Lipscomb. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Helen (McRobie) Lipscomb.
He was a retired coal miner.
Surviving are two sons, Dale Lipscomb, Kitzmiller, and James Lipscomb, Akron, Ohio; two daughters, Mary Jane Bever, Rowlesburg, W.Va., and Kathy Greaser, Mount Storm, W.Va.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
At his request, his body was cremated.
A memorial service was held at the Hi-Way Assembly of God Church on Sunday, Dec. 1, with the Rev. Gail Hixon officiating.
Interment was in the Kalbaugh Cemetery.
OPAL A. ROTRUCK
Opal A. Rotruck, 70, New Creek, W.Va., died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, at her residence.
Born Aug. 30, 1932, in Antioch, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Elmer Floyd and Marie Rebecca Kathern (Leatherman) Likens.
She was a homemaker, and a member of the Sunnyside Church of the Brethren, New Creek.
Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Raymond D. Rotruck; one son, Alan R. Rotruck, New Creek; one daughter, Carolyn S. Rotruck, Hendersonville, Tenn.; and one sister, Kathern L. Knotts, Oakland.
Friends were received at the Smith Funeral Home. A service was held at the Sunnyside Church of the Brethren on Monday, Dec. 2, with the Rev. Herman L. Baliles and Rev. Ed Weaver officiating.
Interment was in the Davis Cemetery, Antioch.
