DELORES R. THOMPSON
Delores Rose Truly Thompson, 83, Frostburg, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002, at her residence.
Born Aug. 28, 1919, in Oakland, she was a daughter of the late George T. and Marie (Murphy) Kerins. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, George S. "Pete" Truly; one brother, George J. Kerins; and two sisters, Marcella Kerins and Cecelia Spalding.
She was the owner/operator of Delores Truly Candies, Frostburg. She was a member and past director of the Retail Confectionery International and charter member and past president of the Frostburg Soroptimists.
Surviving are her husband and business partner, Everett Thompson; two sons, Howard Michael Truly, Frostburg, and George R. "Tim" Truly, Cresaptown; two stepdaughters, Betty Jane Runner, Wenonah, N.J., and Sandra Lynn Fisher, Duxbury, Mass.; one brother, Regis Kerins, Bristol, Conn.; four grandchil-dren; and five step-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, where a service was held on Monday, Dec. 2, with the Rev. George M. Harpold officiating.
Interment was in the Frostburg Memorial Park.

ELWOOD B. BALDWIN JR.
Elwood B. Baldwin Jr., 56, Baltimore, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born May 30, 1946, in Baltimore, he was a son of Elwood B. Baldwin Sr. and Marvel (Smorgan) Baldwin, Baltimore.
He was a retired machinist.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Gloria A. (Fike) Baldwin; two daughters, Julia Baldwin, Baltimore, and Jennifer Baldwin, Oakland; one son, Jason Baldwin, Baltimore; one sister, Sharon Decker, Baltimore; one brother, Harry Baldwin, Baltimore; and three grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, where a service was held on Tuesday, Dec. 3, with the Rev. David Moon officiating.
Following the service, the body was cremated.
VIRGINIA M. HOLLIDAY
Virginia Mae Holliday, 65, Fort Hill, Pa., died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, at her home.
Born Nov. 15, 1937, in Moorefield, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Bessie (Hose) Sliger.
She is survived by her husband Delbert; two daughters, Deanna Shroyer, Detroit, Mich., and Deborah Shroyer, Accident; one son, Thomas Bowman; stepchildren, Donna Sliger, Friendsville, Jeannette Mann, Florida, Lisa Stone, Annapolis, Kimberly Savage, Kentucky, Paul Holliday, Mill Run, Pa., and Franklin Wayne Holliday; 23 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Humbert Funeral Home, Confluence, Pa., where a service was held on Nov. 29, with Pastors Larry Suter and Marshall Bittinger officiating.
Interment was in the Silbaugh Cemetery.
RITA M. SPARKS
Rita Mae (Bittle) Sparks, 73, Columbus, Ohio, died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, at Mount Carmel West Hospital, Columbus, following an extended illness.
Born Sept. 25, 1929, in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late Foster D. and Goldie Mae (Biser) Bittle. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard James Sparks, in 1992; and an infant son, Timothy John, in 1956.
She grew up in Oakland, and graduated from St. Mary's Female Seminary and the University of Wisconsin. She was employed by the American Red Cross, Bethesda, and lived in various overseas posts, including Japan, Korean, and Okinawa. Active in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Columbus, she participated in the Women of the Church, Rachael Circle, Faith Mission, Food Pantry, bazaars, decorating the church, and Trinity Travel Club.
She was interested and active in many activities, such as windjammer cruises in the Caribbean, hot air ballooning, hiking, touring, swimming, biking, white water rafting, and crossword puzzles. One of her greatest pleasures was taking grandparent and other tours with one of more of her nine grandchildren. These included tours of the American Southwest, Alaska, Kenya, Africa, New York City, and a trip with her whole family to Disney World.
She is survived by four sons, Jim and wife Jan, and daughters Abbey and Patricia, Bridgeport, W.Va., Tom and wife Ginny, and children Charlotte, Mac, and Ellie, Glencoe, Ill, Terry and wife Jeanette, and children Ryan and Jamie, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Brian and wife Juliane and daughters, Esther and Nora, Frankfort, Germany; one brother, Robert Bittle, and wife Marian, LaVale; two nieces; and two nephews.
An informal "Celebration of Life" will be held Sunday, Dec. 15, at the Trinity Lutheran Church.
Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a date to be determined.

Beural Ashby Fox, 103, Bridgeport, W.Va., formerly of Crellin, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002, at Heritage Nursing Home, Bridgeport.
Born April 27, 1899, in Crellin, she was the daughter of the late Jesse J. Ashby and Sara (Haddix) Ashby. She was also preceded in death by two husbands, Everett Casteel and Arnold Fox.
She is survived by two daughters, Sara Kyle, Bridgeport, and Elaine Watson, Long Beach, Calif.
A service will be held at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Dr. Lawrence Sherwood officiating.
Interment will be in Ashby Cemetery.
LEROY E. DAVIS
Leroy Earl Davis, 77, Oakland, died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, at Monongalia General Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
Born March 4, 1925, in Rowlesburg, W.Va., he was a son of the late Clarence E. Davis and Jesse (Loughrie) Davis.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II, and served in the Pacific. He retired from the steel industry, and was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Rita Mae (DeWitt) Davis; two sons, Leroy E. Davis Jr., Wichita Falls, Texas, and David K. Davis, Rochester, Pa.; one daughter, Kimberly D. Pavlinich, Bridgewater, Pa.; two brothers, the Rev. Orval Davis, Rowlesburg, and Raymond Davis, Buckhannon, W.Va.; three sisters, Gwendolyn Uglow, Rowlesburg, and Rose Marie Frazee and Ada Savage, both of Friendsville; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. T. Patrick Kerr officiating.
Interment will be in the Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Rochester, Pa., on Saturday at 11 a.m.
EVELYN M .WILLIS
Evelyn Mae Clark Willis, 66, Elk Garden, W.Va., died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser, W.Va.
Born April 20, 1936, in Iron Gate, Va., she was a daughter of the late Floyd and Emma (Hensley) Hicks. She was also preceded in death by two husbands, Junior Clark and Raymond Willis.
She was a lifelong member of the Elk Garden Church of God.
Surviving are one son, Vernon Clark, Beckley, W.Va.; one daughter, Linda Baker, Elk Garden; two sisters, Carolyn Marie Beeman, Waldorf, and Norma Jean Matthaei, New Creek, W.Va.; and three grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, Kitzmiller, today, Thursday, Dec. 5, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A service will be held in the Elk Garden Church of God on Friday at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Paul McDonald officiating.
Interment will be in the IOOF Cemetery, Elk Garden.
RUTH M. HELMICK
Ruth May Helmick, 89, Westernport, died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, at her residence.
Born Sept. 28, 1913, in Hartmansville, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Edward Eli and Amanda Jane (MacDonald) Shirley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl Helmick; one brother, Leslie Shirley; and three sisters, Leota Sherwood, Eva Roy, and Gertrude Nutter. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She was a homemaker, and attended First Assembly of God Church, Westernport.
Surviving are two sons, Raymond Helmick, Oakland, and Robert Helmick, Elkton; four daughters, Doris Miller, Florida, Betty Tichnell, Elkton, Sandy Symons, Rawlings, and Patricia Bennett, Westernport; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Friday, Dec. 6, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
A service will be conducted at the funeral home chapel following the visitation on Friday at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Jerry Schloe officiating.
Interment will be in Bloomington Cemetery, Bloomington.
CHARLES L. JOHNSON
Charles Lee Johnson, 73, Grantsville, and formerly of Happy Hills Farm, died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born July 14, 1929, in Bloomington, he was a son of the late Dale S. and Agnes (Rae) Johnson. He was also preceded in death by his stepmother, Ruth Johnson; one sister; and five brothers.
He had been employed at McIntyre's Bakery in Westernport for 22 years. In 1966, he and his wife moved to Happy Hills Farm, Finzel, and managed it. They also partnered and managed the Happy Hills Restaurant, Finzel, until its closure in 1985. At the time of his death, he was employed by Hafer Funeral Service, LaVale and Frostburg, and was Protestant by faith.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Ola Eugenia (Genie) Johnson; one daughter, Linda Rounds, Leesburg, Va.; two granddaughters; and three great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Hafer Funeral Home, LaVale, where a service was conducted today, Thursday, Dec. 5, with the Rev. Charles A. Erzkus and Jimmie D. Flanagan officiating.
Interment was in the Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.
