ANETIA M. GOODWIN
Anetia May Goodwin, 91, Swanton, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, at the home of her son Glen.
Born April 3, 1911, in Bethel, she was a daughter of the late William and Mary (Herman) Virts. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Albert E. Goodwin, in 1979.
She was a homemaker.
Surviving are two sons, Junior Goodwin and Glen Goodwin, both of Swanton; one sister, Louise Grove, Keyser, W.Va.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Friday, Dec. 6, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A service will be conducted at the funeral home chapel on Saturday at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Donald Nelson officiating.
Interment will be in Virt's Cemetery, Chestnut Grove.
E. PAUL STEMPLE
E. Paul Stemple, 98, Aurora, W.Va., died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, at Davis Memorial Hospital, Elkins, W.Va.
Born Feb. 2, 1904, in Preston County, W.Va., he was a son of the late Amos and Lillie Stemple. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Opal Marie Kidwell, whom he married May 20, 1932; one son, Jack Lynn Stemple, July 1981; and one great-granddaughter.
A graduate of Shepherd College and Fairmont State College, he was a teacher and principal in the Preston County schools for 44 years.
He was a volunteer at Cortland Acres Nursing Home, Thomas, W.Va., for the past 12 years, and he volunteered each year to make apple butter at the Burlington Children's Home. He was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church, having served as a Sunday school teacher and superintendent. He was a member of the W.Va. Retired Teachers Association, the Order of the Odd Fellows, and the Knights of Pythias of Kingwood, W.Va.
He is survived by two sons, Stephen Stemple, Elkins, and Philip Stemple, Basking Ridge, N.J.; two daughters, Nancy Stemple Williams, New Raymer, Colo., and Janet Selders Stemple Kinneer, Herndon, Va.; one sister, Kathryn Stemple Harvey, Clarksburg, W.Va.; several grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Aurora Memorial Building on Friday, Dec. 6, from 5 to 8 p.m.
A service will be held at the Aurora United Methodist Church on Saturday at 1 p.m., with the Dr. Rev. Elis Conley and Rev. Michael Ludle officiating.
Interment will follow in the Aurora Cemetery.
Hinkle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
MELISSA W. McROBIE
Melissa Wolfe McRobie, 81, Hurst, Texas, died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000.
She was the daughter of the late Harry and Sarah Wolfe. She was also preceded in death by her son, Roger McRobie.
Survivors include two daughters, Loretta Vander-griff, Hurst, Texas, and Kathy Meadows, Watauga, Texas; one sister, Hallie King Gardner, Florida; her former husband, Hobert O. McRobie, a former Oakland resident; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The body was cremated. The family will inter the cremains in Bayard, W.Va., in June 2001.
The family suggests memorials take the form of contributions to Community Hospice of Texas.
DARLENE S. HOUSE
Darlene S. House, 51, Grantsville, died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2000, at her home.
Born Aug. 11, 1949, in Grantsville, she was a daughter of the late Garland O. and Roma (Morrison) Durst.
She was a member of Jennings Church of God, a former member of Northern Rescue Squad, and was a cook at Penn Alps Restaurant.
Survivors include her husband, Robert C. House; two sons, Rodney C. House and Steven J. House, both of Grantsville; three daughters, Tammy Jo Dixon, Harrisonburg, Va., Stacie Lea Paugh, Accident, and Kara Jo House, Grantsville; three brothers, Garland O. Durst Jr., Meyersdale, Pa., and Randall D. Durst and Timothy A. Durst, both of Grantsville; three sisters, Shirley "Lolly" Yommer, Brenda Yommer, and Patty Durst, all of Grantsville; and four grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, where a service was conducted Tuesday, Dec. 12, with the Rev. George Plants officiating. Interment was in the Grantsville Cemetery.

ARGYLE F. LANCASTER JR.
Argyle F. "Beaty" Lancaster Jr., 53, Frostburg, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at his home.
Born Jan. 30, 1947, in Frostburg, he was a son of the late Argyle F. Lancaster Sr. and Nellie (Airhart) Lancaster. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Betty Webb, and two brothers, Melvin Lancaster and Donald "Blinky" Lancaster.
He was employed by the Diamond Repub Lounge. He was a member of Frostburg Church of the Brethren, Fraternal Order of the Eagles Lodge 1273, and the Sons of the American Legion Farrady Post 24.
Survivors include three sisters, Linda Mannick, Frostburg, Sharon Buskirk, Lonaconing, and Debra Murphy, Baltimore; three brothers, Leon Lancaster, Friendsville, Jimmy Lancaster, Kensington, and Paul Lancaster, Beltsville.
Friends were received at the Sowers Funeral Home, Frostburg, where a service was conducted Monday, Dec. 11, with the Rev. T. William Preston officiating. Interment was in Frostburg Memorial Park.
MARJORIE B. BROADWATER
Marjorie B. Broadwater, 70, Accident, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born Oct. 13, 1930, in Accident, she was a daughter of the late Cormeny and Carrie (West) Brobst. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Guyla and Marjie; one grandson; one sister, Mary Ash; and one brother, Charles Leo Brobst.
She was a member of the Bear Creek Church of the Brethren and was a home-maker. She attended Catherman's Business School, Cumberland.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Guy E. Broadwater; one son, Gary Broadwater, Accident; one daughter, Patricia Troeder, Boynton Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchidlren; three brothers, John Brobst, Cumberland, Thomas Brobst, McHenry, and Robert Brobst, Hackettstown, N.J.; three sisters, Mae Kahl and Marie Coddington, both of Accident, and Mildred Vanderschriss, Rockville.
At the deceased's request, her body was cremated.

ELIZABETH E. COPELAND
Elizabeth Eleanor Emily "Betty" Copeland, 70, Elk Garden, W.Va., died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Oct. 27, 1930, in Shallmar, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Josephine (Junkins) Swansboro.
She was Methodist by faith.
Surviving are her husband, Donald E. Copeland; one son, Ronald E. Copeland, Clearbrook, Va.; one stepson, Donald E. Copeland, Akron, Ohio; two daughters, Mary E. Copeland, Akron, and Tammy L. Falisevac, Norton, Ohio; one brother, James Swansboro, Hagerstown; three sisters, Deloris Ellis, Nannyglow, Pa., Nancy Pyle, Atwater, Ohio, and Joanie Bradford, Hagerstown; and two grandchildren.
Friends were received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, Kitzmiller. A service was conducted Tuesday, Dec. 12, at the Elk Garden United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Brenda Shreve officiating. Interment was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Elk Garden.
PAUL E. GROVES
Paul E. Groves, 67, Terra Alta, W.Va., died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, in Morgantown, W.Va.
Born July 3, 1933, in Cuzzart, W.Va., he was a son of the late Oscar and Mary (Liston) Groves. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Stanley Groves.
He was a member of the Terra Alta Wesleyan Church and was a former district officeholder for the church. He was a coal miner for Island Creek Coal Company and a lifelong farmer.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Shirley (Feather) Groves; one son, Mark Groves, Morgantown; one brother, Willis Groves, Valley Point, W.Va.; four sisters, Evelyn Thornburg, Fairmont, W.Va., Martha Fulkerson, Atlanta, Ga., Betty Mast, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Virginia Troop, Fremont, Calif.; and an adopted granddaughter.
Friends were received at the Browning Funeral Home, Kingwood, W.Va. A service was conducted at the Terra Alta Wesleyan Church on Tuesday, Dec. 12. Interment was in the Terra Alta Cemetery.
DON S. BENDER
Don Stanley Bender, 84, Hobe Sound, Fla., formerly of Kitzmiller, died Dec. 10, 2000.
He was born June 15, 1916, in Kitzmiller.
He was appointed to the Washington, D.C., Fire Department on June 16, 1942, and retired from that organization on Feb. 28, 1969. He moved to Hobe Sound in 1980.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred (Boss) Bender, whom he married Nov. 23, 1934.
Surviving are one son, Mark Bender, Hobe Sound; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was conducted at the Aycock Funeral Home.
The family suggests memorials take the form of contributions to a charity of the donor's choice.
WILLIAM SANDERS
William "Dale" Sanders, 89, Fairmont, W.Va., died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2000, at the Louis A. Johnson Veterans' Administration Medical Center, Clarksburg, W.Va.
Born Sept. 28, 1911, in Oakland, he was a son of the late William Franklin and Nillie Grant-Conneway Sanders. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Neil Sanders; and two sisters, Audry Sanders and Freda Fulk.
He was a graduate of Oakland High School, the West Virginia Business College, and Shrivenham American University in London, England.
He and his wife owned and operated the Sanders Insurance Agency in Fairmont for 35 years. He retired in 1979. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he served in the European Theatre in the 132nd Evacuation Hospital and U.S. Army Medical Corps. He also served in the West Virginia State Guard as a drill sergeant and ordinance instructor.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge No. 9 in Fairmont, the American Legion Post 17, VFW Post 629, and the Disabled American Veterans. He was a charter member of the Green Hills Country Club.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Louise (Snider) Sanders; one son, Dr. William Dale Sanders Jr., Ewa Beach, Hawaii; one daughter, Patricia A. Baxter, Auburndale, Fla.; one brother, Francis Sanders, Oakland; one sister, Helen Fike, Oakland; 12 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Ford Funeral Home's R.C. Jones Chapel in Fairmont. A service was conducted earlier today, Dec. 14, at the Grace Lutheran Church, Fairmont, with Pastor David Rockwood officiating. Interment was in the Shinnston (W.Va.) Masonic Cemetery, where full military honors were accorded.
