Frank Kirchner Jr.
Frank John Kirchner Jr., 64, a resident of Glen Burnie since 1975 and previously of Annapolis, died of cancer Oct. 26, 2001 at his home after a brief illness.
Mr. Kirchner was born in Annapolis and graduated from Annapolis Senior High School in 1955.
He served in the Army from 1956 to 1959. Prior to and after his military service, Mr. Kirchner worked at the Safeway store in Annapolis. For 19 years he was employed by the Stehle Equipment Co. until he formed his own company, F. J. Kirchner Jr. Rentals, Inc. which he operated until December 2000.
Mr. Kirchner was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Annapolis.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Donna Lee Kirchner; two sons, Frank G. Kirchner and Frederick J. Kirchner, both of Glen Burnie; four daughters, Christina L. Tarnuzzer of Orlando, Fla., Sharon L. Williams of Edgewater, Linda L. Nowokowski of Arnold and Carol L. Feeley of Owings Mill; his mother, Louise Beatrice Kirchner of Annapolis; two brothers, David L. and Robert A. Kirchner of Annapolis and seven grandchildren. He was predeceased by his father, Frank John Kirchner Sr.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Hardesty Funeral Home, 12 Ridgely Ave., Annapolis. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Annapolis.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Anne Arundel County Unit, 1041 Route 3 North, Gambrills, MD 21054.Cecil Kuever
Cecil Paul Kuever, 93, of Annapolis, died Oct. 24 at the Heritage Harbour Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Washington, D.C., Mr. Kuever started working when he was 14 years old for the Doyle Printing and Offset Co. in Washington where he worked for 74 years. The company moved to Landover in the early 1960's.
He held several printing patents for his inventions over the years.
He was a life member of the Chesapeake Yacht Club.
His interests were boating and traveling.
Survivors include his wife, Elsie Mills Kuever; one daughter, Margaret McKnight of Temple, Texas; and one grandchild.
Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. tomorrow at the Taylor Funeral Home Chapel, 147 Duke of Gloucester St., Annapolis, where the funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood.

Jeanne Mitchell
Jeanne B. Mitchell, 68, of Lancaster, Pa., and formerly of Annapolis, died Oct. 21, 2001 at Brethren Village in Lancaster after a brief illness.
Born in Worcester, Mass., she was the daughter of the late John Nants and Wilma Vierbuchen Wilson.
She lived 15 years in Annapolis where she graduated from St. Mary's High School and was a member of the girls basketball team.
She graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of science degree from New Hampshire College in 1978, and was a graduate of the Realtor Institute. She also attended George Washington University.
Mrs. Mitchell was a real estate broker for the Norwood Group and worked for H&R Block as an office manager and instructor.
She was a member of the League of Women Voters in New Hampshire where she served on the board of directors. She was a committee member of the Derry School Board in New Hampshire where she was instrumental in establishing a vocational education curriculum.
She was elected as treasurer and district clerk for East Derry Village District in New Hampshire.
While living in Annapolis, Mrs. Mitchell was an associate accountant for Annapolis Management Company and served as an accountant for a mortgage company.
She was a member of Church of the Apostles, United Church of Christ in Lancaster.
An avid bridge player, she was a member of the Fulton Bridge Club.
Survivors include one daughter, Kathleen M. Rhyne of Lancaster; three sons, J. Kenneth Mitchell III of Weehawken, N.J., Thomas G. Mitchell of Mishawake, Ind., and Donald M. Mitchell of Moorpark, Calif.; one granddaughter; and two sisters, Mary Ann Wilson Decker of Annapolis, and Joan Wilson Sears of Lewes, Del.
Her first husband, Lucien P. Borden died in 1955.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Nov. 4 at the Church of the Apostles in Lancaster.
Memorial donations may be made in lieu of flowers to Church of the Apostles, United Church of Christ, 1850 Marietta Ave., Lancaster, PA 17603.
Arrangements are by Fred F. Groff Funeral Home in Lancaster.

Leonard Owens
Funeral services were held this morning at the All Hallows Episcopal Church in Birdsville for Leonard Beall Owens, 45, an eight-year resident of Federalsburg and previously of Annapolis who died at his home on Oct. 23, 2001.
Mr. Owens was born in Annapolis and raised in Harwood. He attended Southern High School.
He worked as a truck driver on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
His hobbies were hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Collum Owens of Federalsburg; his daughter, Michelle Greenhawk of Hurlock; his mother, Nancy Mills Owens of Harwood; two brothers, Kevin G. Owens, of Easton, and his twin brother, Lemon B. Owens III of Bay Minette, Ala.; and two granddaughters. He was predeceased by his father, Lemon B. "Sonny" Owens Jr.
Mr. Owens was buried in the church cemetery.
Arrangements were made by the Hardesty Funeral Home in Galesville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Anne Arundel County Unit, 1041 Route 3 North, Gambrills, MD 21054.

Rebecca Parker
Rebecca Hall Parker, 78, a 55-year resident of Annapolis, died Oct. 24, 2001 at Anne Arundel Medical Center, after a long illness.
She was born in Baltimore and educated in Anne Arundel County Schools.
She was a domestic worker at the Naval Academy.
Mrs. Parker was a member of Fowler United Methodist Church where she sang in the Senior Choir and the Chancel Choir and also served as an usher.
She enjoyed reading non-fiction books and cooking.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, John N. Parker; three sons, John N. Parker Jr. of San Diego, Calif., Marvin A. Parker of Annapolis, and Vincent B. Parker of Glen Burnie; two daughters, Joan Rebecca Parker of Annapolis; and Brenda Ann Parker of Harwood; two sisters, A. Thelma Wallace of Lothian and Mary Elizabeth Moby of Washington, D.C.; and five grandchildren.
A Christian Wake will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. tomorrow at Fowler United Methodist Church, 816 Bestgate Road, Annapolis, with funeral services immediately following. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Fowler United Methodist Church, 816 Bestgate Road, Annapolis, MD 21401.
Arrangements are by Miller's Metropolitan Chapel of Annapolis.

Geraldine Wren
Geraldine G. "Gloria" Mason Wren, 76, of Cape St. Claire, died of complications of emphysema Oct. 24, 2001 at Levindale Hospital in Baltimore after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Wren was born and raised in Baltimore. Prior to moving to Cape St. Claire 45 years ago, she lived in Dundalk.
She was a homemaker and child care provider.
Mrs. Wren was a member of St. Andrew by the Bay Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband, William K. Wren of Annapolis; one son, Louis Erich Wolf Jr. of Cape St. Claire; one daughter, Arlene Frances Nebel of Shepherdstown, W.Va.; two sisters, Regina Scott of Arbutus and Vera Blimline of Dundalk; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Mason.
Visitation will take place from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow and Sunday at Barranco and Sons Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Andrew By the Bay Church, 701 College Parkway, Annapolis, followed by burial at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 1840 York Road, Suite M, Timonium, MD 21093.

Doris Beard
Doris Aisquith Beard, 80, a lifelong resident of Riva, died Oct. 23, 2001 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a brief illness.
Mrs. Beard graduated from Annapolis High School with the Class of 1938. She was born into a family of longtime residents and farmers in the Riva area.
A homemaker, she was interested in flowers and plants.
Survivors include four daughters, Ilene O'Neill Loflin of North East, Lila Whittington of Willards, June Larkin of Marie, W.Va., and Barbara Carr Payne of Severna Park; three brothers, Lester, John and Elmer Aisquith, all of Riva; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Phillip Wesley Beard, died in 1955. She was the mother of the late Phillip "Jimmy" Beard and the grandmother of the late Stanley Beard.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. tomorrow prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service at the Taylor Funeral Home Chapel, 147 Duke of Gloucester St. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Annapolis.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Sigrid Chubb
A memorial service was held Oct. 21 at the Raymond-Wood Funeral Home in Dunkirk for Sigrid Christa Chubb, 61, of Upper Marlboro, who died Oct. 17, 2001 at her home.
Born in Hohensalza, Germany, Mrs. Chubb worked as a budget analyst for the Prince George's County government for 22 years.
Survivors include two sons, Michael Chubb of Lothian and Christopher Chubb of Huntingtown; and two grandchildren.
Burial was private. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 11331 Amherst Ave., Silver Spring, MD 20902.

Patricia Coulter
Patricia Anne Coulter, 48, died Oct. 24, 2001 of complications from breast cancer at her home in Annapolis.
Born in Baltimore, Ms. Coulter graduated from Catholic High School in the city and had a bachelor of science degree in psychology from Towson State University.
Early in her career, she was employed by Baltimore city schools. Later she worked in the Anne Arundel County Health Department as administrator of community outreach. Her life was devoted to helping others.
Ms. Coulter was a collector of books and music and enjoyed working with children and animals. Her hobby was gardening.
She is survived by her father, John Coulter of Baltimore, and her friend, Shirley Shawen of Annapolis, with whom she lived.
Visitation will take place from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at the Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester St. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel, with burial immediately following at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens, 200 East Padonia Road, Timonium.
Memorial donations may be made to the Susan Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 200 East Joppa Road, Towson, MD 21286.

Ray Hinton
Ray Franklin Hinton, 72, a nine-year resident of Grasonville and previously of Severna Park, died Oct. 24, 2001 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a brief illness.
Born in Lawrenceville, Ill., Mr. Hinton graduated from California Polytechnical Institute in San Luis Obispo with an engineering degree.
He served in the Air Force and the Navy in the 1950s and early '60s.
He worked for the former Westinghouse Electric Corp. as a project engineer, retiring in 1991 after 26 years of service with the company at the Bay Bridge facility.
Mr. Hinton helped to invent and worked on a deep diving saucer for Jacques Cousteau's underwater exploration boat, The Calypso.
He enjoyed playing scrabble, reading and woodworking.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Hinton; one son, Steven Hinton of Sumter, N.C.; one daughter, Valerie Lee Atwell of Harwood; two stepsons, Joseph Jarosz of Pasadena and Mark Jarosz of Crofton; two stepdaughters, Sharon Breen of Pasadena and Diane McCreary of Arnold; one brother, Tom Hinton of Calif.; and 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Jeanie Taylor and Mary Ann Latham.
Visitation will take place today from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Stallings Funeral Home, 3111 Mountain Road, Pasadena. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home, followed by burial at Glen Haven Cemetery in Glen Burnie.
Donations may be made to the American Lung Association of Maryland, 1840 York Road, Suite M, Timonium, MD 21093.

Daniel Lee
Professor Daniel T.Y. Lee, 78, of Menlo Park, Calif., formerly of Annapolis, died Oct. 23, 2001 in California.
Born in Fuyang, Anhwei Province, China, Mr. Lee taught at the Naval Academy for 20 years and established the Chinese Language Department there.
He previously taught Chinese at the Naval Intelligence School, worked for the Library of Congress and hosted Taiwan TV news broadcasts for the U.S. Information Agency.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian Y. Lee; three sons, Henry C. Lee of Palo Alto, Calif., Edward C. Lee of Taiwan and Tony C. Lee of Menlo Park; two daughters, Diane Engstrom of Trosa, Sweden, and Wei-Shuan P. Kain of Parker, Colo.; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Oct. 30 at the Skylawn Memorial Park Chapel of Light in California. Burial will be at Skylawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Memorial Processing Center, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058.
