Mark J. Farrelly
LAUREL -- Mark J. Farrelly, 57, of Laurel died Thursday, June 26, 2003.
He will be missed greatly as a loving son, husband, father and grandfather and was loved by all who knew him. Mark was a life-long Laurel resident and prominent businessman who found no greater joy than serving his community.
A graduate of Laurel High School, class of '64, Mark earned his bachelor of arts degree in industrial arts education at Millersville State College in 1968. He taught industrial arts at Seaford High School before returning to Laurel to help his father with the family business, Laurel Petroleum, of which he later became the owner and operator. Mark was an active member and past president of the Laurel Lions Club, serving on numerous committees and taking an active role in the creation of Hope House. He was a member of the Hope Lodge 4 and a 32nd degree Mason. Mark was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church. He was a licensed aircraft pilot for 32 years. He served as a mentor in the Laurel schools and sponsored acts of kindness throughout the community on a daily basis.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Nancy Carmean Farrelly; his parents, Bruce and Euneta Farrelly of Laurel; two daughters, Jennifer Givens and her husband, Glen, of Laurel and Laura Stephenson and her husband, Mark, of Salisbury; two grandchildren, Aaron Farrelly Givens and Alyssa Kate Givens, both of Laurel; a brother, Bruce Richard Farrelly of Knoxville, Tenn.; a sister, Ann Petterson of Hagerman, Idaho; a sister, Phoebe Bird of Wilmington; and 10 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Christopher Kit Farrelly.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Centenary United Methodist Church in Laurel. A visitation will be held by the family from 2 to 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to honor his memory to Centenary United Methodist Church, PO Box 230, Laurel Del. 19956; the Laurel Lions Club, PO Box 10, Laurel, Del. 19956; or Good Samaritan, 210 W. Market St., Laurel, Del. 19956.
Arrangements are being handled by Short Funeral Home in Laurel.

Roddy Allen Darby
WILLARDS -- Roddy Allen Darby, 49, of Willards died Tuesday, July 8, 2003, at his home.
Born in Salisbury, he was the son of Alfred G. Darby and the late Ethel Lewis Darby.
In addition to his father, he is survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A graveside service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at New Hope Cemetery in Willards. The Rev. J. Harvey Dixon will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Willards Ambulance Fund, PO Box 38, Willards, Md. 21874.
Arrangements are being handled by Bounds Funeral Home.

Patricia Ann Lewis
SALISBURY -- Patricia Ann Lewis, 65, of Salisbury died Thursday, July 10, 2003, at Salisbury Center: Genesis ElderCare.
She was born in Bladensburg, Md., to the late Andrew and Cora Mae Parks. At a very young age, her family moved to Delmar where she was raised.
She worked as a production worker for the Gant Shirt Factory and the Heineman Electric Co., both in Salisbury. She was a very loving and devoted grandmother and found much joy in spending time with her two grandsons. One of her favorite hobbies was planting and caring for the various flowers in and around her home.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Ernest H. Lewis Jr.; a son and daughter-in-law, Steven Mark and Carrie L. Lewis of Salisbury; two grandsons, Tyler and Cody Lewis; three sisters, Audrey Burke of Salisbury, Geraldine Mason of Salisbury and Lois Parks of Princess Anne. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, where friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will be held at Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron.

Anthony Thomas Carozza
SALISBURY -- Anthony Thomas Carozza, 40, of Salisbury died Monday, Jan. 26, 2004, in Fruitland.
Born in Baltimore, he was the son of Anthony F. Carozza and Mary Pat Rohe Carozza. His family then moved from Baltimore to Ocean City.
Tony was a dedicated husband to his loving wife, Gail, and devoted father to his children, Nicholas and Caroline. He was also a longtime coach and mentor to many of the children growing up in the Fruitland and Pittsville areas. He was his happiest when he could watch his daughter play soccer for the Green Gators and watch his son play baseball. He was a much-beloved coach for baseball, softball and basketball for more than 15 years. Last summer, he became a member of Fruitland's Recreation Commission, where he helped begin the town's youth basketball league that began this fall. While he enjoyed watching his children participate in sports, he also remained active in two sports that he loved: surfing and running. Tony proudly completed the Shamrock Marathon in May 2000.
Education was equally important in his life. He was a graduate of Stephen Decatur High School, Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., and University of Baltimore School of Law, where he earned his law degree. Following graduation, Tony returned home to work as an attorney for Seidel & Baker. He was then appointed assistant public def-ender for Wicomico County for the last 10 years.
Tony is survived by his wife of 16 years, Gail Gibbs Carozza, and his children, Nicholas Thomas Carozza and Caroline Elizabeth Carozza; three sisters, Mary Beth Carozza of Ocean City, Anne Marie Pollack and her husband, Brad, of Berlin and Kimberly Wooten and her husband, Jeff, of Ocean Pines; three brothers-in-law, Thomas L. Gibbs and his wife, Nancy, of Florida, Bruce Gibbs and his wife, Theresa, of Ocean City and William A. Gibbs Jr. and his wife, Julie, of Ocean City; his grandmother, Katherine E. Rohe; and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Bounds Funeral Home at 705 E. Main St. in Salisbury. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Holy Savior Catholic Church. The Rev. John P. Klevence will officiate. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Berlin.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Tony's name to the Fruitland Little League, PO Box 195, Fruitland, Md. 21826.

Richard Harry Elliott Sr.
EDEN -- Richard Harry "Buck" Elliott Sr., 71, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, at his home.
Born in Delmar, he was a son of the late Jack and Catherine Elliott. His first wife, Mary R. Elliott, preceded him in death in 1976.
A U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Elliott retired after more than 20 years with Wyoming Concrete. He attended New Life Apostolic Church in Salisbury. He loved to fish and hunt, go to flea markets and yard sales, and to collect knives, coins, toy canisters and trucks.
He is survived by his wife, Pearl M. Elliott; two sons, Richard H. "Buck" Elliott Jr. and his wife, Diane, of Eden and David Elliott and his wife, Wanda, of Salisbury; a daughter, Sherry Wootten and her husband, Jeff, of Mardela Springs; seven stepsons, Edward Zlock of Dover, Fred and Frank Zlock of Salisbury, Richard and Jim Hayward of Salisbury and Ronnie and Bobby Hayward of Florida; 10 grandchildren, Richard Elliott III, Wayne Morgan, Sandra Waller, Jeffrey W. Wootten Jr., Brad A. and Shawn B. Wootten, David Elliott Jr. and Shawn, Justin and Brittney Elliott; two sisters, Kathleen Searcey and her husband, Jake, of Delmar and Ruth Martin and her husband, Bob, of Harrington; 10 great-grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren, six great-stepgrandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Jewell, and two brothers, Bill Elliott and Frank Wilson.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, where friends may call one hour before, as well as Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Interment will be in St. Stephens Cemetery Park.

Kimberly R. Walton
MILLSBORO -- Kimberly R. Walton, 37, died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004.
Born in Salisbury, she was a daughter of David and Martha Williams of Delmar.
Ms. Walton worked as a certified nursing assistant at Green Valley Terrace Nursing Home in Millsboro. She loved her dog, Mary Jane, and enjoyed flowers and gardening.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by three children, Phillip Harrison, Jamie L. and Tabitha L. Walton, all of Millsboro; two sisters, Wendy Gootee of Seaford and Janet Wilson of Parsonsburg; her paternal grandmother, Evelyn Williams of Salisbury and several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family will gather Wednesday from 2 to 3 p.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

Michael B. Venables
SALISBURY -- Michael B. Venables, 52, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center.
Born April 13, 1951, he was a son of Shirley Ann Paucchi of Salisbury and the late Joseph Eugene Venables.
Mr. Venables was a U.S. Army veteran who served with the Merchant Marines for a short period of time.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sisters, Lisa Venables Holland of Willards and Luisa Paucchi of New York City; a brother, D. Collins Venables of Willards; his paternal grandmother, Madge V. Ayres of Willards and a niece and three nephews.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at Zeller Funeral Home in Salisbury, where friends may call a half hour before. The Rev. Don Bauer will officiate.
Memorial donations may be made to the Christian Shelter, 334 Barclay St., Salisbury, Md. 21804.

Addie Belle German
DELMAR -- Addie Belle German, 86, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004, at Chancellor Care Center.
Born in Salisbury, she was the daughter of the late Elias and Ella Nichols. Her husband, Elmer T. German, preceded her in death.
Mrs. German was a seamstress for the former Banks and Pusey Garment Co. in Delmar. She was a lifetime member of Charity United Methodist Church in Salisbury. She loved to attend the Laurel Senior Center and enjoyed reading and puzzle books.
She is survived by three daughters, Jane Ann Smith and her husband, John, and Nancy Parrish and her husband, Bill, both of Delmar, and Mary Ellen Gardner and her husband, Jerry, of Salisbury; six grandchildren, Mickey Smith of Bethany Beach, Allen Parrish and his wife, Dina, of Parsonsburg, David Parrish of Delmar, Scott Gardner and his wife, Tammy, of Colorado Springs, Erin Laing and her husband, James, of Salisbury and Lisa Dennis and her husband, Phillip Dennis Jr., of Hebron; three great-grandchildren, Bradley and Nicholas Parrish and Dylan Laing; a sister-in-law, Betty Atkinson of Laurel; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Gene Thomas German, and two brothers, James and Bud Nichols.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Charity U.M. Church at the corner of Naylor Mill and Jersey roads in Salisbury, where friends may call one hour before. Pastors Major Bailey and Doris Bailey will officiate. Interment will be in St. Stephens Cemetery in Delmar.
Friends may also call Tuesday evening from 7 to 8:30 at Short Funeral Home in Delmar.
Memorial donations may be made to Charity U.M. Church, c/o Karyl Tyler, 29276 Waller Road, Delmar, Md. 21875.

Natalie Wagner Otto
MOUNT VERNON -- Natalie Wagner Otto, 79, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004, at Anchorage Nursing Home in Salisbury.
Born in Salisbury, she was the daughter of the late Charles Alexander Wagner and Ruth Wilson Wagner. Her husband, William Otto, preceded her in death in 1971.
The valedictorian of the Washington High School class of 1942, Mrs. Otto was a homemaker who loved to cook and took food to and visited shut-ins. A member of John Wesley United Methodist Church in Mount Vernon, she was a devoted listener and supporter of the WOLC Christian radio station.
She was a member of the W.S.C.S. Friendship Committee and the Somerset County Republican Women's Club.
She is survived by three children, C. William Otto of Greenville, S.C., Vera Otto Tyler and her husband, Danny, of Crisfield and Charles James Otto of Mount Vernon; three grandchildren, Christen Leigh, Carl William and Charles Danny Tyler; a great-granddaughter, Danielle Nicole Burke; a brother, Carl M. Wagner of Mount Vernon; three nieces, Ruth Ann McGee of Pocomoke City, Susan Wagner Gilbert of Fredericksburg, Va., and Mary Lou Watson of Simpsonville, S.C.; and several great-nieces and -nephews, Andy McGee, Ashley, Kate and Reece Watson, Michelle Dean and Chase Gilbert.
She was preceded in death by a loving sister-in-law, Marianne L. Wagner.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Hinman Funeral Home in Princess Anne, where friends may call beginning at 12:30 p.m. Interment will be in Allen United Methodist Cemetery in Allen.
Memorial donations may be made to John Wesley United Methodist Church, c/o Mike McIntyre, 13358 Renshaw Road, Princess Anne, Md. 21853.

Marvin Olin Tilghman
MARDELA SPRINGS -- Marvin Olin Tilghman, 81, of Mardela Springs died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004.
Born in Nassawadox, he was a son of the late Harold Marion and Edith Ann Sturgis Til-ghman.
He was owner and operator of Tilghman's Grocery from 1947 to 1973 and Tilghman's Pre-Cast Steps from 1973 to 1982. He raised livestock for many years and was an active participant at the Farmers Bank of Mardela Springs. He was a member of the Sharptown Lions Club and Rockawalkin Ruritan Club, and he attended Calvary Baptist Tabernacle. He was a U.S. Army veteran during World War II.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Aileen W. Tilghman; three children, Karen Wittliff and husband, James, of Stonington, Conn., Cheryl Frazetti and husband, Anthony, of Catonsville, Md., and Kevin Tilghman of Mardela Springs; five grandchildren, Nyssa Wittliff of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Jennifer J. Strine and husband, Daniel, of Owings Mills, Md., Joseph Frazetti of Oregon, Nathan Tilghman of Mardela Springs and Ashley Chenkin and husband, Ian, of Norfolk, Va.; one great-granddaughter, Cheyenne Frazetti of Catonsville, Md.; one sister, Aileen Thomas of Virginia; one brother, Harold "Bill" Tilghman of Nassawadox; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Pastor Lou Bradley will officiate. Interment will be in Springhill Memory Gardens near Hebron.
Contributions may be made to the Mardela Springs Ambulance Fund, c/o Section Fire Company, Mardela Springs, Md. 21837 or Calvary Baptist Tabernacle, 337 Tilghman Road, Salisbury, Md. 21804.
Arrangements are being handled by Holloway Funeral Home at 501 Snow Hill Road in Salisbury.

Louise Nock White
SALISBURY -- Louise Nock White, 102, of Salisbury died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004, at Wicomico Nursing Home in Salisbury.
Born in Crisfield, she was the daughter of the late Charles H. and Ann Kenly Nock. Her husband, Hubert Ruark White, preceded her in death.
Mrs. White worked for 10 years for L.W. Gunby Co. before becoming a housewife. She had been very active in clubs in previous years, including many executive positions in the Wicomico Woman's Club since 1952, Wicomico County Housewives League, Camden Book Club, Four Seasons Garden Club, one of the charter members of Sister Mary Clare Guild of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 25-year member of the Junior Board of Peninsula Regional Medical Center and past president of the Parsons Home Auxiliary. She wrote the History of Catholicism on the Eastern Shore, History of Old Jackson Homes on Camden Avenue, Early Years of Salisbury on Main Street, The Business Section of Early Salisbury and The Bonaventure Mystery.
She is survived by four children, Mary Louise Ash of Salisbury, Dr. Hubert R. White Jr. of Midlothian, Va., Frederick W. White of Salisbury and Dr. Stuart J. White of Cork, Ireland; 18 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Hill.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Salisbury. Father Edward M. Aigner will officiate. Interment will be in Parsons Cemetery in Salisbury.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, The Heart Fund, 514 Camden Ave., Salisbury, Md. 21801 or the John B. Parsons Home Memorial Fund, 300 Lemmon Hill Lane, Salisbury, Md. 21801.
Arrangements are being handled by Holloway Funeral Home at 501 Snow Hill Road in Salisbury.

Richard L. Messick
DAMES QUARTER -- Richard L. Messick, 67, of Dames Quarter passed away Sunday, Feb. 22, 2004, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
Born on Feb. 21, 1937, he was a son of the late Melvin Messick and Bessie Bonnett Messick.
He was a waterman and a tug boat operator for C.J. Langefeller out of Love Point, Baltimore. He was a member of Dames Quarter Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Margaret Messick; three children, Patricia Martin, Jeff Messick and Richard Messick Jr.; five grandchildren, Crystal Keene, Matthew Parsons, Blair Messick, Richard Messick III and Storm Messick; one great-granddaughter, Alayna Keene; two sisters, Barbara Murray and Grace Nichols; one brother, Danny Messick; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Melvin Messick, Lester "Jiggs" Messick and Robert Messick, and one sister, Ruby Ford.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Hinman Funeral Home in Princess Anne, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in St. Peters United Methodist Cemetery in Oriole.
There will be no reception after the funeral service; however, previous arrangements had been made for a surprise birthday for Richard and Margaret. We will continue to have this to celebrate Richard's life and show support for his wife, Margaret. It will be held Saturday from 3 to 6 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church on Phillip Morris Drive in Salisbury.
