Robert Crutchfield, 76, of Mt. Airy, died Friday, Oct. 3, 1997, in Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick.
Born Aug. 11, 1921, in West Virginia, he was the son of the late Jesse H. and Bessie Vaughn Crutchfield. He was the husband of Mary Margaret Thomas Crutchfield.
He was originally from Bluefield, Va., and Wythe County, Va.
He was a Coast Guard veteran of World War II, a member of American Legion Post No. 191 and VFW Post No. 1076, Mt. Airy.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons David, Gary and Phillip Crutchfield, all of Mt. Airy; sisters Bernice Colson of Sunman, Ind., Olga Gaubarci of Miami, Fla., and Virginia Beasley of Colo.; a brother, Herbert Crutchfield, of Clear Fork, W.Va.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Barnett Funeral Chapel, 325 S. Church Street, Wytheville, Va. Interment will follow in the Thomas Family Cemetery in Max Meadows, Va.

Rose I. Foster
91, of Reisterstown
Rose Irene Foster, 91, of Reisterstown, died Thursday, Oct. 2, 1997, at St. Joseph Hospital in Towson, from natural causes.
Born Nov. 28, 1905, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Jacob N. and Mary Frances Tracey Foster.
Never married, she graduated from the old Towson Normal School. She was a teacher for a time before becoming a secretary for Exxon for many years, from which job she retired in 1965.
Surviving are five nephews and nieces.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glyndon with the Rev. Lloyd Aiken, pastor of the church, as celebrant. Interment will be in Loudon Park Cemetery in Baltimore.

Henrietta H. Foutz, 85, of Westminster, died Saturday afternoon, Oct. 4, 1997, at Homewood at Plum Creek, Hanover, Pa.
Born March 28, 1912, in Westminster, she was the daughter of the late Edward Grant and Jessie Starr Little. She was the wife of Charles R. Foutz Jr., who died May 26, 1994.
Surviving are her sons Edward ``Ned'' Foutz, of Westminster, and Charles R. Foutz III, of Exeter, R.I.; daughters Martha Elias of Omaha, Neb., and Louise Newton, of Wilmington, N.C.; one sister, Ann Dole, of Franklin, Mass., and ten grandchildren.

83, formerly of Hanover, Pa.
Hazel H. Stambaugh, formerly of Hanover, Pa., died early Saturday morning, Oct. 4, 1997, at the Brethren Home at Cross Keys in New Oxford, Pa.
Born March 30, 1914, in Carroll County, she was the daughter of the late James A. and Nina Babylon Hill. She was the wife of Clarence E. Stambaugh, who died March 29, 1973.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Littlestown, Pa.
Surviving, are a daughter, Faye H. Stambaugh of Hanover, Pa.; a sister, Mabelle Dutterer of Willow Valley Nursing Home in Lancaster, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Little's Funeral Home in Littlestown, Pa. with her pastor, the Rev. Timothy J. Kielley, officiating. Interment will be in Baust Union Cemetery in Taneytown.

Born July 2, 1929, in Maryland, he was the son of the late Charles T. and Nona Keefer Dixon. He was the husband of Joyce J. Dixon.
He had been a carpenter.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughters Donna Jennings of Florida, Janet Dixon of Taneytown and Christina Dixon of Manchester; brothers Raymond Dixon of Westminster, Sonny Dixon of Glen Burnie, Charles T. Dixon of Mt. Airy, Ronald Dixon of Pennsylvania, Francis Dixon of Rocky Gap and Vernon Thomas of Sykesville; sisters Sis Bittinger of Sykesville, Margaret Sperling and Geraldine Dixon, both of Glen Burnie, and Loretta Dixon of Randallstown; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his son, the late Charles William Dixon Jr.

Anna Marie Hudgins, 70, of Reisterstown, died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 1997, at the Carroll County General Hospital, after an extended illness.
Born March 18, 1927, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late William F. and Bettie Long Gartling. She was the wife of the late Aubrey M. Hudgins, who died in 1968.
She had worked for Black & Decker Co. and had been a sales lady at Photomat in Reisterstown.
Surviving are children Barbara Woolford and William F. Rutherford, both of Reisterstown; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services and interment will be private.

Eugene B. Richardson, 48, of Littlestown, Pa., died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 1997, in Gettysburg Hospital.
Born March 17, 1949, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Walter and Evelyn Choat Richardson. He was the husband of Linda E. Brown Richardson.
He worked as a foreman at Bethlehem Steel Shipyard. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and a member of the Purple Heart Association in Westminster.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son David G. Richardson of Littlestown, Pa.; daughter Kimberly L. Wedderien of Baltimore; sister Catherine Richardson of Baltimore; brother Walter Richardson; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Eline Funeral Home, 934 S. Main St., Hampstead, with the Rev. Philip Tocknell officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Finksburg.

Donald "Donnie" F. Anthony

Donald ``Donnie'' Francis Anthony of New Windsor was killed Wednesday when his truck hit a tree on Sams Creek Road. He was 55.
Affectionately known as the mayor of Sams Creek, Anthony was born August 22, 1943, in Adams County, Pa., a son of the late Melvin and Anna Burns Anthony. He was the husband of Barbara Long Anthony, his wife of 35 years.
Anthony graduated from Frederick High School in 1961 and was a self-employed carpenter with B&D Contractors. He was also the owner/operator of a trash removal business in Frederick County, known as B&D Disposal. He, his wife and daughter drove for ARC of Carroll County for the past 11 years. He was also a member of Linganore United Methodist Church and Loyal Order of the Moose No. 1381 in Westminster.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Dana S. Kingan of New Windsor; son and daughter-in-law Donald F. and Sandy Anthony of New Windsor; son Michael A. Anthony and fiancee Karen of Union Bridge; seven grandchildren; and brothers Bernard A. Anthony of Union Bridge, James Anthony of Woodsboro and Robert Anthony of Berryville, Va. He was predeceased by son Mark Allen Anthony and brother Melvin Anthony Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Hartzler Funeral home in New Windsor with the Rev. Fred Eckhardt, Pastor Emeritus of Grace Luthern in Westminster, officiating. Interment will be in Linganore Cemetery, Unionville. The family will receive friends from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Frederick John Hilker Jr, 70, of Sykesville died Wednesday, November 25, 1998, at the Northwest Hospital Center in Randallstown.
Born April 28, 1928, in Baltimore, he was the son of Frederick J. Sr. and Evelyn Craigh Hilker of Essex. He was the husband of Virginia Schisler Hilker of Sykesville.
A retired painting contractor, he also served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Surviving, in addition to his parents and his wife, are daughters Valerie Ann Hilker of Sykesville and Cynthia H. Fagen of Maryville, Tenn.; brother Alton Hilker of Pylesville; sisters June Franz of Parkville, Gloria Wade of Essex and Beverly Nirenberg of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; and one grandson.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park in Sykesville.

Kenneth Leroy Myerly, 78, of Hagerstown died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998, at the Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown.
Born may 10, 1920, in Union Bridge, he was the son of the late Charles Edgar and Maude Leamore Stultz Myerly.
He worked 20 years for Hagerstown Spring Works.
Myerly is survived by his wife, Loretta Kane Myerly, his wife for 52 years; sister, Annabelle Louise Myerly of Hagerstown; brothers Robert S. Myerly of Rio Rancho, N.M., and Joseph Fred Myerly of Greencastle, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by one sister and five brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery in Hagerstown.

Sterling Pierce Owings, 76, of Hanover, Pa., died Tuesday at Hanover Hall Nursing Home in Hanover.
Born April 24, 1922, in Bloom, Md., he was the son of the late Earl Byron and Florence Frizell Owings.
He was the husband of Betty J. Coppersmith Owings.
He was a member of the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Littlestown and was employed as a caretaker of the Long Arm Dam from 1954 until his retirement in 1987.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, is a sister, Belle O. Stickles of Gamber; a brother, E. Norman Owings of Hanover, Pa., and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother Francis E. Owings.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Wetzel Funeral Home, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, Pa., with pastor William C. Karns officiating. Burial will be in the St. David's Cemetery.

The Rev. Harold William Thiedt, 74, of Wapakoneta, Ohio, died Thursday, Nov. 26, 1998, at Carroll County General Hospital.
Born Oct. 12, 1924 in New York, he was the son of the late William and Hermina Wiese Thiedt. He was the husband of the late Martha Thomas Thiedt.
A semi-retired clergy with the United Church of Christ, he is survived by a daughter, Susan T. Ondercin of Sykesville; sons James Andrew Thiedt of Elida, Ohio, Donald Alan Thiedt of Savannah, Ga., and Larry Richard Thiedt of Wapakoneta, Ohio; sisters Carolyn Dunne of Great Barrington, Mass., and Catherine Thiedt of Tiffin, Ohio; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, 1102 Lincoln Ave., Wapakoneta, Ohio, at a later date.
