Carroll L. Walsh
72, of Hampstead
Carroll Leroy Walsh, 72, of Hampstead died Thursday, Nov. 26, 1998, at Carroll County General Hospital.
Born April 26, 1926, in Hampstead, he was the son of the late Charles and Bessie Rill Walsh. He was the husband of Virginia Myers Walsh, his wife for 52 years.
He was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church in Hampstead, the Maryland Steam Historical Society, the National AACA and the Gettysburg AACA.
He is survived by sons and daughter-in-laws Wayne and Debbie Walsh, Ronald and Sandra Walsh, and daughter and son-in-law Cheryl and Tom Corbin, all of Millers; brothers Sterling Walsh of Hampstead and Charles Walsh of Berlin; sisters Julia Gouge of Hampstead and Marie Treadway of Dunwoody, Ga.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Monday, 10 a.m., at the Eline Funeral Home, 934 S. Main Street in Hampstead with the Rev. Richard Brown-Whale officiating. Interment will follow in Shiloh United Methodist Church cemetery in Hampstead.
Friends may call Sunday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Margaret A. `Peggy' Brown
50, of Owings Mills
Margaret Ann ``Peggy'' Brown, 50, of Owings Mills, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999, at Greater Baltimore Medical Center after an extended illness.
Born Sept. 27, 1948, in Gettysburg, Pa., she was the daughter of Emily Smith Bangs of Westminster. She was the wife of Robert L. ``Bob'' Brown III.
She graduated from Westminster High School in 1966, and was a member of Owings Mills Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She was a certified emergency medical technician and IV tech. She attended Sacred Heart and St. Charles Catholic Churches.
Surviving, in addition to her mother and husband, are children Tina Marie Perna of Toms River, N.J., and Randy H. Brown of Owings Mills; sister Penny Bangs of Westminster; and stepbrother Thomas E. Bangs Sr. of Post Falls, Idaho.
She was predeceased by stepfather Wilbur T. Bangs.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today at Fletcher Funeral Home, 254 E. Main St., Westminster, with the Rev. James D. Proffitt, associate pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Glyndon, officiating. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park.
LeRoy C. Christman
70, of Westminster
LeRoy Charles Christman, 70, of Westminster, formerly of Taneytown, died Wednesday evening, Jan. 27, 1999, at Carroll County General Hospital, after an extended illness.
Born Dec. 28, 1928, he was the son of the late LeRoy Charles Christman Sr. and Ann Deihl Ware. He was the husband of Marie Lewless Christman.
Prior to his illness, he was employed as a food service director for Westminster Maryland College. He had previously worked at Tulley's Restaurant in Westminster. He enjoyed cooking and woodworking. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons James S. Christman of Girdaville, Pa., Frances L. Christman of Iowa, and Justin C. Christman of Westminster; daughters Cynthia L. Piergallini and Jackie E. Donnelly, both of West Chester, Pa.; eight grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
He was predeceased by daughter Patricia Christman.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. John Catholic Church, Westminster with the Rev. John V. DoBranski, as celebrant. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
There will be no public visitation.

James H. Dulany IV
57, of Westminster
James Heath Dulany IV, 57, of Westminster, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999, at home, after an extended illness.
Born June 19, 1941, in Baltimore, he was the son of James H. Dulany III of Tennessee and the late Dorothy Smith Dulany. He was the husband of Laura Ellen Brown Dulany of Westminster.
He attended William R. Boone High School in Orlando, Fla., class of 1960.
He was a veteran of the Marine Corps and served from 1960 to 1963. He was a real estate appraiser.
He was a member of Westminster United Methodist Church and Westminster Rotary Club since 1973, Maryland Association of Real Estate Appraisers, Maryland Board of Real Estate Appraisers and former board member of Board of Bowling Brook Home for Boys, Carroll County Chamber of Commerce, and Greater Westminster Development Corp., and he was on the founding board of the YMCA. He was the recipient of the Paul Harris Award in 1997.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughters Rebecca Elaine Dulany of Reisterstown and Jocelyn Heather Dulany of Westminster; brothers Albert S. Dulany of Oregon and Howell L. Dulany of Tennessee.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Westminster United Methodist Church, 162 E. Main St., Westminster, with the Rev. David Highfield officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Gamber.

Gordon W. Cheeks
61, of New Windsor
Gordon Wayne Cheeks, 61, of New Windsor, died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 1999, at his home, after an extended illness.
Born Oct. 17, 1938, in Gaithersburg, he was the son of the late Worley McKinley and Pearl Crusenberry Cheeks. He was the husband of Alice Lambert Cheeks, his wife of 42 years.
He was a 1956 graduate of Elmer Wolfe High School, Union Bridge, and served in the Air Force with the Strategic Air Command. He was formerly employed in law enforcement with the Westminster City Police, Carroll County Sheriff's Department, and then with the town of New Windsor. He was later employed as a security officer at Fort Detrick, Frederick, for 14 years and then at Carroll Lutheran Village, retiring in 1996.
He was a member of St. Luke's Winters Lutheran Church, near New Windsor. He enjoyed writing in various capacities from newspaper articles to composing songs. He had written 18 country songs and has a CD entitled, ``Home Place.''
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are son and daughter-in-law Jeffrey W. and Carol Cheeks of Taneytown; sisters Estelle Walters of Ijamsville, Beatrice Durbin of Rockville and Pauline Hesson of New Windsor; brothers Dr. Sherrill Cheeks of Westminster and Warner Cheeks of Fairfield, Pa.; one granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brothers Paul Cheeks and Worley B. Cheeks.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 701 Green Valley Road, with his pastor, the Rev. Anne Rosenquist, officiating. Interment will be in Winters Cemetery.

Donald Joseph Dixon, 84, of Manchester, died Thursday, Oct. 28, 1999, at Carroll County General Hospital.
Born April 4, 1915, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Charles and Emma Snead Dixon. He was the husband of F. Ruth Sullivan Dixon.
He was a retired ship building draftsman. He was an active member of Oriental Lodge 158 and the Boumi Temple. He was a member of Millers United Methodist Church and Westminster Elks.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are son Donald J. Dixon Jr. of Westminster; sister Norma Zeller of Catonsville; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Theodore H. Haines
69, of Browns Mills, N.J.
Theodore H. ``Bucky'' Haines, 69, of Browns Mills, N.J., died Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, at home.
Born in Lander, he was the husband of Elizabeth ``Betty'' Zona Haines.
He had resided in Browns Mills, N.J., for 38 years and was a retired Master Sergeant and Combat Veteran of the Air Force. He served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars and was decorated with the Silver Star, Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Republic of Vietnam Commendation Medal. He was a life member of the Browns Mills Memorial VFW Post 6805 and Air Force Sergeants Association.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are son Theodore M. ``Mickey'' Haines of Browns Mills, N.J.; daughter Beth Haines of Browns Mills, N.J.; sister Barbara Shipley of Westminster; brothers Donald and Franklin D. Haines, both of Taneytown, and Kenneth Haines of Thurmont; and five grandchildren.

Gerald Alfred Hall, 58, of Mount Airy, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1999, at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore.
Born Sept. 9, 1941, in Frederick, he was the son of the late Alfred R. Hall and Hilda Mae Butler Hall. He was the husband of Joan Ann Jackson Hall.
He was an insurance agent for Franklin Life Insurance Company and former owner of Gosnells Corner Carryout. He was a member of Sons of American Legion gold Star Post 191 Mount Airy.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughters Teresa Page Hall of Keymar and April Michele Hall of Mount Airy; brother Michael Barrie Hall of Catonsville; sister Ellen Lyles of Hagerstown; and two granddaughters.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Burrier-Queen Funeral Directors, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield, with the Rev. Wallace Lusk officiating.

John Jeffery Jr., 73, of Westminster, died Thursday, Oct. 28, 1999, at Carroll County General Hospital.
Born June 5, 1926, in Bluefield, Va., he was the son of the late Johnny and Virginia Row Jeffery Sr. He was the husband of June W. Jeffery.
He was a graduate of Pocahontas High School in Virginia and a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. He was a retired truck driver from Continental Trucking Company, Teamsters Local 355. He was a life member of the VFW Molleville Farm Post No. 467.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children William R. Jeffery of Owings Mills, Sheila Cantrell of Glen Burnie, Joan L. Jeffery of Emmittsburg, and Vivian J. Jeffery of Westminster; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Finksburg.

Laura Damron Pettit, 81, of Sykesville, died Thursday, Oct. 28, 1999, at Carroll Lutheran Village, Westminter.
Born Aug. 23, 1918, in Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Minta Fleming Damron. She was the wife of the late Rosser J. Pettit Jr.
She had been a homemaker for most of her life.
Surviving are son Rosser J. ``Jack'' Petitt of Sykesville; daughter Beverly Jill Pettit of San Diego; and three grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held on Sunday at 12:45 p.m. from Fork Union Cemetery in Fork Union, Va.

Garnett K. Smith
80, of New Windsor
Garnett K. Kirkpatrick Smith, 80, of New Windsor, formerly of Glenville, W.Va., died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1999, at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Mount Airy.
Born Jan. 24, 1919, in Baldwin, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late William Blair and Della Blanche Ford Kirkpatrick. Married twice, she was predeceased by her first husband Frederick Paul Furr and is survived by her second husband, James D. Smith Sr.
She was a homemaker. In her early days, she was a waitress at Conrad Restaurant in Glenville and at Hoopers Restaurant in Baltimore. She had also worked at Bendix in Baltimore.
She was a member of Dawson Baptist Church in Glenville, W.Va., and was attending Mount Airy Full Gospel Church in Mount Airy. She was also a member of Mount Airy 55 Plus Senior Club and of the Rebecca Lodge 104 in Glenville, W.Va.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are daughter Cathy A. Shackelford of Troy, W.Va.; step-children James D. Smith Jr., Glendal Joe Smith, and Susan S. Atkinson, all of Troy, W.Va., Sharon E. Cason of Mount Airy, and Jeanette Dean of Burnsville, W.Va.; siblings Hazel G. Kirkpatrick of New Windsor and Ina A. Woodford of Glenville, W.Va.; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by son Michael Paul Furr; and four brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services were held Thursday at Mount Airy Full Gospel Church, 13949 Penn Shop Road, Mount Airy, with the Revs. Thomas Gue and Wallace Lusk, of Mount Airy Full Gospel Church, officiating. Interment will be Saturday in Stalnaker Cemetery, Glenville, W.Va. There will be a service held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Ellyson Mortuary Inc., 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, W.Va., with the Rev. William Hunt officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. until of time of service Saturday at Ellyson Mortuary Inc.

Born Feb. 21, 1939, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Joseph P. and Lillian J. Rockel Sullivan. He was the husband of Bernadette K. Sullivan of Sykesville.
He had been an electrician and owner of B&B Associates for many years. He was a veteran of the Army.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons James Timothy Sullivan of Westminster, David Anthony Sullivan, Robert Francis Sullivan and John Michael Sullivan, all of Sykesville; daughter Patricia Josephine Sullivan of Sykesville; brothers Joseph Sullivan of Arbutus and John William Sullivan of Sykesville; sisters Mary Lou Johannessen of Ellicott City and Kathleen Newton of Silver Run; and four grandchildren.
