DELORA E. UPHOLD
Delora Ellen Uphold, 82, Friendsville, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, at her home.
Born May 15, 1917, in Friendsville, she was the daughter of the late George and Laura (Kelley) Uphold.
She had been employed as a domestic in Baltimore prior to her retirement in 1991.
Survivors include a number of nieces and nephews.
Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Friendsville, where a service was conducted Wednesday, Jan. 26, with the Rev. Cathy Harman officiating. Interment was in the Blooming Rose Cemetery.
NANCY HILE
Nancy 'Mae' Hile, 98, St. George, W.Va., and more recently a patient at Cortland Acres Nursing Home, Thomas, W.Va., died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000, at the nursing home.
Born Jan. 23, 1902, near St. George (Pleasant Vale community), she was a daughter of the late James Quinter and Minnie Martha (Bolyard) Auvil. She was also preceded in death on Oct. 24, 1972, by her husband, Albert S. Hile, whom she married July 3, 1918, in Oakland; two sisters, Ada Hanline and Elizabeth Auvil; and one great-grandson. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She attended the one-room school at the Pleasant Valley community, near Leadmine, W.Va.; was a member of the Farm Bureau; and in 1968, she and her husband were awarded first place in the Farming for Better Living of Tucker County, W.Va. She was Methodist by faith.
Survivors include three sons, Foster Allen Hile, Holly Meadows, W.Va., and Albert Junior Hile and Terry Lynn Hile, both of St. George; one daughter, Marie Phillips, Parsons, W.Va.; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Barb & Greenlief Funeral Home, Parsons, where a service was conducted earlier today, Jan. 27, with the Rev. David Fuller officiating. Interment was in the Bonnifield Cemetery, near St. George.
NAOMI R. MYERS
Naomi R. (Stanton) Myers, 87, Markleysburg, Pa., died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, in Uniontown (Pa.) Hospital.
Born April 5, 1912, in Grantsville, she was the daughter of the late C. Earl and Malinda (Orndorff) Stanton. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William E. Myers, in 1983; two sons, Wayne and Lowell Myers; five brothers, Stanley, Leslie, Cecil, Frank, and Glenn Stanton; and two grandchildren.
She attended the Sansom Chapel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include four children, Wilbur Myers, Charles Myers, and Gale Lorene Leonard, all of Markleysburg, and Linda Uphold, Midlothian; one brother, Dalton Stanton, Grantsville; 13 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Donald R. Crawford Funeral Home, Farmington, Pa., on Saturday from 2 to 5 and 6 to 9 p.m., and on Sunday, Jan. 30, from noon until 1:30 p.m., the hour of the service, with the Rev. Terry Collins officiating. Interment will follow in the Sansom Chapel Cemetery.
NAOMI C. MERRILL
Naomi C. Merrill, 84, Mtn. Lake Park, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, at the Cuppett-Weeks Nursing Home, Oakland.
Born Dec. 29, 1915, in Deer Park, she was a daughter of the late Asa C. and Ella T. (Hinebaugh) Moon. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Truman C. Merrill, in 1983, and by two sons, Robert Merrill and Franklin S. Welch.
She was a retired cook.
Survivors include one daughter, Emilie J. Hoye, Mtn. Lake Park; one sister, Hilda Madigan, Deer Park; six grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral Home, where a service was conducted Wednesday, Jan. 26, with the Rev. William McCallister officiating. Interment was in the Deer Park Cemetery.
Jeremy Scott Wiles
Jeremy Scott Wiles, 15, Grantsville, was killed Monday, Jan. 24, when the snowmobile he was operating struck a tractor trailer on Route 40, east of Pig’s Ear Road.
Tfc. R.W. Cuthbertson, of the Maryland State Police, Barrack W, McHenry, reported that Gewaine Barron Durst, Salisbury, Pa., was operating a 1991 International tractor trailer eastbound on Route 40 at 3:25 p.m. when the accident occurred.
Reconstructionist Tfc. R.H. Sharp of the McHenry barrack participated in the investigation, which revealed that Wiles lost control of his snowmobile and struck the tractor trailer, the report said. Wiles was pronounced dead at the scene.
Grantsville VFD and Northern Rescue Squad responded to the accident.
Born July 31, 1984, in Preston County, W.Va., he was the son of Neil and Sandra (Armstrong) Phillips, with whom he resided, and Teddy T. and Tina Wiles, Terra Alta, W.Va.
He was a freshman at Northern High School.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Becky and Stacey, both at home; three stepsisters, Marlana, Taylor, and Jamilyn, all of Terra Alta; his grandparents, Betty and Henry Armstrong, Deer Park, Betty and Ken Phillips, Ellicott City, and Teddy Wiles Sr., Masontown, W.Va.; and a great-grandmother, Pearl Cohn, Kitzmiller.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, from 7 to 9 p.m. today, Thursday, and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday. A service will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, Jan. 29, at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Theodore Uphold officiating. Interment will follow in the Addison (Pa.) Cemetery.
PREMA KLINE
Prema (Bittinger) Lipscomb Kline, 91, a resident of the Bridgewater (Va.) Retirement Home, formerly of Manassas, Va., and Keyser, W.Va., died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000, in the Rockingham Memorial Hospital, Harrisonburg, Va.
Born March 29, 1908, at Brookside, near Aurora, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late John and Cora (Fike) Bittinger. She was also preceded in death by two husbands, Ernest Lipscomb in 1957, and Wilmer Kline in 1993, and two sons in infancy.
A graduate of Aurora High School, she also attended Bridgewater College, Potomac State College, and West Virginia University. She received her teaching degree from Shepherd College, Shepherdstown, W.Va. She was a retired elementary school teacher and principal from the Mineral County (W.Va.) school system. She taught at Beryl Elementary School for 25 years and retired from Keyser Elementary School in 1971. She was a member of the Manassas Church of the Brethren, where she was a Sunday School teacher, a member of the Women’s Fellowship, and a member of Church Women United. She was also a member of the Buckhall Extension Club.
Survivors include one son, Emil Lipscomb, Manassas; two daughters, Delaine Blankenship, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Mary Ludwick, Fairfax, Va.; two stepdaughters, Wilma (Kline) Robertson, Bridgewater, and Sylvia (Kline) Bowman, Manassas; two stepsons, Harley Kline and Leon Kline, both of Manassas; one sister, Wilma (Bittinger) Waybright, Aurora; five grandchildren; 14 step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and 25 step-great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Manassas Church of the Brethren, where a service was conducted Monday, Jan. 17, with the Rev. Fred Swartz and the Rev. Jeff Carter officiating. A committal service was conducted at the Brookside Church of the Brethren on Monday.

LEROY M. PAUGH
Leroy M. Paugh, 69, Oakland, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born Dec. 5, 1930, in Deer Park, he was a son of the late Murray E. and Carrie M. (Haskell) Paugh. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Beulah J. Felton; one brother, Garland C. Friend; and one granddaughter.
He was a member of the Rocky Drean Assembly of God Church. He was retired from the Maryland National Guard with 37 years of service, and was the custodian at the armory for 47 years.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Proctor Kildow Post 71, American Legion, Oakland. He was a retired member of the Oakland Volunteer Fire Department.
Surviving are his wife, Irene (Friend) Paugh; one daughter, Karen Slaubaugh, Mtn. Lake Park; two stepdaughters, Brenda Smith, Columbus, Ohio, and Geraldine Enlow, Oakland; one son, Robert G. 'Bob' Paugh, Oakland; three sisters, Adra Fogle, Smithsburg, Claudine Calhoun, Mtn. Lake Park, and Nine White, Baltimore; four brothers, Harland Paugh, Murray J. 'June' Paugh, and Gordon Paugh, all of Oakland, and John W. 'Burl' Paugh, Mtn. Lake Park; five grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and 12 step-great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Oakland National Guard Armory, where a service was conducted Monday, Jan. 17, with the Rev. William Skipper, the Rev. Paul Goldizen, and the Rev. William Connelly officiating. Interment followed in Garrett County Memorial Gardens, Oakland.
Military honors were accorded at the cemetery by members of the various veterans organizations in southern Garrett County.

ELIZABETH K. BOOGHER
Elizabeth K. Boogher, 79, Terra Alta, W.Va., Cranesville community, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000, at the Morgan Manor Nursing Home, Morgantown, W.Va.
Born Sept. 25, 1920, at Chalk Hill, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Julia (Belica) and George Kadar. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clarence H. Boogher, in 1981.
She was a homemaker and of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include two sons, Clarence 'Joe' Boogher, Clarksburg, W.Va., and Robert A. Boogher, Friendsville; one daughter, Barbara Rincavage, Stroudsburg, Pa.; two brothers, Gazel Kadar and Lloyd Kadar, both of Mt. Holly, N.J.; three sisters, Edna Saxson, Trenton, N.J., Julia Raymond, Mt. Holly, and Gazella Clatts, Lynchburg, Va.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Grantsville, on Saturday, Jan. 15, with Father Paul Byrnes as celebrant. Interment was in the Eastview Cemetery, Bruceton Mills, W.Va.
JOSEPH F. JOHENNING
Joseph F. Johenning, 78, Frostburg, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000, at St. Vincent dePaul Nursing Center, Frostburg.
Born June 5, 1921, in Hanover, he was the son of the late William J. and Kate (McQuay) Johenning.
He was a retired film developer for the U.S. Senate, and formerly owned and operated the Hide Away Hill Campground in McHenry. He was a U.S. Army Signal Corps veteran of World War II, and rejoined the Army to serve during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Frostburg.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Betty B. (Borcherding) Johenning; one daughter, Linda Johenning, Lebanon, Tenn.; two grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
The body was cremated. A memorial service will be conducted at a later date, with the Rev. Michael H. Tamorria officiating.
The family requests that memorial contributions be directed to the St. Paul’s Lutheran churches in Frostburg or Accident, or the future WWII memorial to be built in Washington, D.C.
MICHAEL A. GEROSKI
Michael Allen Geroski, 40, Elkins, W.Va., died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, at Davis Memorial Hospital, Elkins.
Born Oct. 20, 1959, in Oakland, he was a son of John Harold Geroski Sr. and Betty Frances (Lewis) Geroski.
He was preceded in death by one son.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by one son, Joshua Wade Geroski, Fredericksburg, Va.; one daughter, Jessica Ruth Geroski, Fredericksburg; one brother, John H. Geroski Jr., Mtn. Lake Park; and three sisters, Sharon Porter, Mtn. Lake Park, Harriett Cannon, Oakland, and Cyndy Sundstrom, Fayetteville, W.Va.
Friends were received at the Hinkle Funeral Home, Davis, W.Va., where a service was conducted Wednesday, Jan. 19, with the Rev. J.J. Johnson officiating. Interment was in Garrett County Memorial Gardens, Oakland.
