ANNA G. MACKLEY
Anna Grace Mackley, 86, Westernport, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999, at her home.
Born Dec. 12, 1912, in Fairmont, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late William Edward and Rosie M. (Simmons) Kellar. She was also preceded in death by her husband, George Davis Mackley, on Oct. 2, 1982; four sisters, Faye Hott, Hazel Lucyk, Emma Birdoff, and Ardella Beeler; and one brother, Robert Kellar.
She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Piedmont, W.Va., the Burlington Family Services Auxiliary, and the Westernport Senior Citizens.
Surviving are one daughter, Frances Bane, Westernport; three sisters, Virginia Grimm, Tunnelton, W.Va., Rose Sharrer, Oakland, and Lona McDowell, Cumberland; and two grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, where a service was conducted Tuesday, Oct. 19, with the Rev. Joseph Jarrett officiating. Interment was in the Philos Cemetery, Westernport.
The family suggests memorials be directed to the Trinity United Methodist Church, Piedmont, or Memorial Hospital’s Hospice Unit, Cumberland.
ALLEN C. MURRAY
Allen C. Murray, 71, a former mayor of Mtn. Lake Park and former fire chief of the Oakland Volunteer Fire Department, died suddenly at his home Saturday afternoon. The Southern Garrett County Rescue Squad was summoned to his home along Foster Road north of Oakland after he became ill while working in his yard. He was pronounced dead at Garrett County Memorial Hospital.
Born June 10, 1928, in Altoona, Pa., he was a son of the late Cloyd C. and Hilda (Kaltsmith) Murray.
He was retired from Fike’s Dairy, where he worked for many years as a procurement manager and dairy sanitarian. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was retired from the Oakland Volunteer Fire Department with 28 years of service, eight of which he served as chief. He was a member and past president of the Oakland Rotary Club, a past mayor of Mtn. Lake Park, and a member of Proctor Kildow Post 71, American Legion.
Surviving are his wife, Joan (McSorley) Murray; five sons, James M. Murray, Thomas P. Murray, Stephen A. Murray, Dennis D. Murray, and Allan 'A.J.' Murray, all of Oakland; one 'adopted' son, Thomas Stark, Oakland; four brothers, Paul Murray, Garland, Texas, and Robert Murray, Galen Murray, and Lowell Murray, all of Altoona; four sisters, Virginia Laws, Marilyn Hainsley, Joyce Westover, and Darlene Schoch, all of Altoona; and 12 grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, where a memorial service was conducted by members of the Oakland Volunteer Fire Department on Tuesday evening.
A funeral service was conducted at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Oakland, on Wednesday, Oct. 20, with the Rev. Fr. Martin Feild and the Rev. David Moon officiating. Interment was in Garrett County Memorial Gardens, Oakland.
Military rites were accorded at the cemetery by members of the local veterans organizations.
The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to the Oakland Volunteer Fire Department or the Southern Garrett Rescue Squad.
EDGAR L. MCKENZIE
Edgar Lewis McKenzie, 73, Lonaconing, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Dec. 25, 1925, in Garrett County, he was a son of the late James Harris and Jeanetta Frances (Painter) McKenzie. He was also preceded in death by five sisters, Mabel Beechie, Evelyn Leary, Margaret McKenzie, Leota Wampler, and Freda Wiley; three brothers, Frank McKenzie, James McKenzie, and Lawrence McKenzie; and one granddaughter.
He was a self-employed carpenter for H&D McKenzie Home Improvements. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he served in Southeast Asia, the Philippines, and Shanghai, China. He received two Purple Hearts and a Medal of Valor. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, Rincon Renegades 18, of Tucson, Ariz.
Surviving are two daughters, Bonnie Taylor, Tennessee, and Pam Lecount, California; two sons, Edgar McKenzie Jr., Hamet, Calif., and David B. McKenzie, Lonaconing; one stepdaughter, Bonnie Mitchell, Lonaconing; five sisters, Agnes McKenzie and Bula McKenzie, both of Akron, Ohio, Imogene Snyder, Export, Pa., Jeanetta Yoder, Baltimore, and Joy Perkins, Midland; one brother, Glenn McKenzie, Eckhart; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandsons; one great-great-granddaughter; and a special friend, Emma Madeline McKenzie.
Friends were received at the Eichorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, Lonaconing, where a service was conducted Wednesday, Oct. 20, with the Rev. George Loar officiating. Interment was in the Mount Zion Cemetery, Garrett County.
Graveside military rites were accorded by members of the Farrady Post 24, American Legion, Frostburg.
GUY H. LUCAS
Guy Henry Lucas, 31, Hagerstown, formerly of Kitzmiller, died Monday, Oct. 11, 1999, at the Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.
Born Oct. 31, 1967, in Silver Spring, he was a son of Ralph and Barbara (Chiater) Lucas.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his paternal grandmother, Frances Hanlin, Kitzmiller; his maternal grandfather, Steve Chiater, Baltimore; two brothers, Ralph Alan Lucas, Kitzmiller, and James Scott Lucas, Hagerstown; and one sister, Kimberly Reynolds, Hagerstown.
Friends were received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, Kitzmiller, where a service was conducted Wednesday, Oct. 13, with the Rev. James Mou officiating. Interment was in the Kalbaugh Cemetery, Elk Garden, W.Va.
BARBARA K. BRYDE
Barbara Kay (Hull) Bryde, 51, Terra Alta, W.Va., Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999, at her home, following an extended illness.
Born Nov. 3, 1947, in Kingwood, W.Va., she was a daughter of Oscar and Ermal Geraldine (Cupp) Hull, Terra Alta.
She was a member of the White Oak Church, Cranesville Road, where she was church organist. She was a graduate of Frostburg State College, class of 1969.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, William Bryde; one son, Scott Elliot Bryde, Terra Alta; and two sisters, Bonnie Kahly, Terra Alta, and Rema C. White, Jane Lew, W.Va.
Friends will be received at the Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home, Terra Alta, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and at the White Oak Church on Saturday, Oct. 23, from 1 to 2 p.m., the time of the service, with the Revs. Paul Sisler, Richard Sisler, and Harry Hebenthal officiating. Interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery.

ROBERT W. PERDUE
Robert Williamson Perde, Esq., 78, Grantsville, died Monday, Oct. 18, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born July 29, 1912, in Chicago, Ill., he was a son of the late Alfred William and Elsie Gertrude (Tong) Perdue.
He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Frostburg. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps for six years and was a veteran of World War II, having received the Bronze Star. He received his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and also was a senior supervisory trial attorney. He retired after 32 years of service as an attorney for the U.S. Government.
Survivors include one son, Patrick Hurley, Grantsville, and one brother, William Perdue, Sunnyvale, Calif.
Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Wednesday, Oct. 20, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Paul Byrnes as celebrant. Interment was in the parish cemetery.
EARLE W. RAILEY SR.
Earle William Railey Sr., 83, Oakland, died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born May 2, 1916, in McHenry, he was a son of the late Charles M. and Edith (Merrill) Railey. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Pauline (Friend) Railey, in 1998.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of Proctor Kildow Post 71 American Legion and Post 2481 BPOE.
Survivors include two sons, Earle W. Railey Jr. and Douglas R. Railey, both of Oakland; two daughters, Paula J. Upole, Oakland, and Pamela R. Mallow, Fairmont, W.Va.; three brothers, James L. Railey and Robert E. Railey, both of Oakland, and Charles 'Bud' Railey, Bridgeport, W.Va.; one sister, Marjorie R. Hamill, Oakland; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today, Thursday. A service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, Oct. 22, at 11 a.m. Interment will be in the Sang Run Cemetery.

ROY F. ARNOLD
Graveside inurnment services for Roy Franklin Arnold, 65, Oakland, who died earlier this month, were conducted at the Eglon (W.Va.) Cemetery earlier today, Oct. 21, with the Rev. Donald Matthews officiating.
Born Jan. 28, 1934, in Oakland, he was a son of the late Floyd T. and Mary (Cooper) Arnold. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruth V. Arnold, in 1978.
He was a retired animal control officer for Garrett County, and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by three daughters, Sandra Harvey and Betty Liller, both of Oakland, and Robin Gattshall, Winchester, Va.; four brothers, Lorrie 'Bob' Arnold, Philippi, W.Va., Raymond Arnold, Cumberland, Harold 'Pete' Arnold, Cassidy, W.Va., and Floyd 'Chuck' Arnold, Oakland; one sister, Anna Arnold, Baltimore; and six grandchildren.
The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society.

EDNA M. FALSTICK
Edna M. Falstick, 76, Oakland, died Sunday, Sept. 26, 1999, at the Cuppett-Weeks Nursing Home, Oakland.
A memorial service will be conducted at the Mountain Lake Independent Baptist Church on Saturday, Oct. 23, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Dennis Leatherman officiating.

CHRISTINE M. WILLIAMS
Christine M. Williams, 50, New Creek, W.Va., died Sunday, Oct. 17, 1999, at the Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser, W.Va.
Born Jan. 3, 1949, in Keyser, she was a daughter of Lula (Rounds) Kelly, Cresaptown, and the late John E. Kelly. She was also preceded in death by one brother, John E. Kelly Jr.
She was employed as a chiropractic assistant with her husband, Dr. Earl Williams, who was formerly associated with the Williams Chiropractic Clinic in Mtn. Lake Park (currently operated by Dr. Ranal Wil-liams), and more currently with Williams Chiropractic Clinic in Moorefield, W.Va. She was a member of the Emmanuel Pentecostal Holiness Assembly, Keyser, and a member of the Ladies Moving Forward Ministry of Emmanuel Church.
In addition to her mother and her husband, she is survived by one son, Daniel E. Williams, Burlington, W.Va.; one daughter, Marie A. Liller, Burlington; one sister, Kathy Watson, Stafford, Va.; and two grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser. A service was conducted at the Emmanuel Pentecostal Holiness Assembly on Wednesday, Oct. 20, with the Rev. Wesley Potter, District Supervisor of the Mid-Atlantic Conference of the Pentecostal Holiness Churches officiating. Interment was in the Williams Family Cemetery, New Creek.

FREEMAN L. HORCHLER
Freeman L. Horchler, 84, Salisbury, Pa., died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999, at the Meyersdale (Pa.) Medical Center.
Born Dec. 12, 1914, in Salisbury, he was a son of the late Samuel and Mary (Baum) Horchler. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Livengood.
He was a retired farmer and a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Salisbury.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma L. (Klink) Horchler; one brother, Clark B. Horchler, Millersburg, Pa.; and four sisters, Maythorne Brenneman, Grantsville, Mary Keifer, Harrisburg, Pa., Hazel Beever, York, Pa., and Ruth Haning, Woodstock, Ill.
Friends will be received at the Price Funeral Home, Meyersdale, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday. A service will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, Oct. 23, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Ray Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Salisbury Cemetery.
