NELLIE M. GRAHAME
Nellie May Grahame, 89, Cumberland, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Dec. 25, 1909, in Barton, she was a daughter of the late Harrison and Effie (Foye) Davis. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph William Grahame, in 1978, and one brother, Roy Davis.
She was retired from the Allegany County Board of Education. She taught at the Pennsylvania Avenue Elementary School. She was a 1927 graduate of Barton High School and a 1929 graduate of Frostburg Normal School. After teaching for many years, she returned to Frostburg State University and graduated in 1969 with a B.S. degree. She was a member of Martha Washington Chapter OES in Lonaconing, the Allegany County Retired Teachers Association, the Maryland State Retired Teachers Association, the National Retired Teachers Association, and the First Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are three sons, Joseph W. Grahame Jr., Elkins, W.Va., James R. Grahame, Cumberland, and John B. Grahame, Decatur, Mich.; one daughter, Louise VanMeter, Ridgeley, W.Va.; two sisters, Patricia Knott, Bloomington, and Mary Elda McCormick, Lonaconing; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday. A service will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday, Dec. 27, at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Dr. Morton O. Harris Jr. officiating. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Burial Park.
NELLIE C. EVANS
Nellie Catherine Evans, 81, Cumberland, died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1999, at the Chateau of Cumberland.
Born March 28, 1918, in Oldtown, she was a daughter of the late Claude Wagner Sr. and Daisy (Lewis) Wagner. She was also preceded in death by two husbands, George B. Evans and Floyd Grady; and one brother, Robert D. Wagner.
She was a retired employee of the Crystal Laundry, and a former employee of the Celanese Corporation of America. She was a member of the Davis Memorial United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one stepdaughter, Patricia Miller, LaVale; six brothers, Daniel W. Wagner, McHenry, Edward J. Wagner, Cresaptown, Claude W. Wagner Jr., Oakland, James A. Wagner, Bittinger, Nile E. Wagner, McHenry, and Donald E. Wagner, York, S.C.; four sisters, Pauline N. Chapman, Cumberland, Carrie O. Platt, Cumberland, Margaret E. Edgar, Oakland, and Joanne Brenneman, Marietta, Ga.; and two step-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today, Thursday. A service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, Dec. 24, at noon, with the Rev. T.D. Higby officiating. Interment will be in the Davis Memorial Park, Cumberland.
WILLIAM. J. CLINE
William J. Cline, 49, Oakland, died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1999, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
Born Jan. 12, 1950, in Kingwood, W.Va., he was a son of the late Hereel F. and Elsie L. (Hershman) Cline.
He worked as a truck driver for the Oakland Oil Co., and played on the Glass Unlimited team in the Old-Timers Softball League.
Survivors include two daughters, Bobbi L. Cline and Robin R. Cline, both of Kitzmiller; one son, Aaron J. Cline, Swanton; one sister, Darla D. Niner, Oakland; two brothers, Jerry A. Cline and Danny L. Cline, both of Mtn. Lake Park; and three grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, from 7 to 9 p.m. today, Thursday, and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday. A service will be conducted at the Oakland Church of the Nazarene on Sunday, Dec. 26, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Arthur Evans officiating. Interment will follow in the Deer Park Cemetery.
Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service.
LINDA R. SIMMONS
Linda R. Simmons, 42, Oakland, died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born Feb. 20, 1957, in Oakland, she was the daughter of the late Robert W. and Rebecca C. (Shaver) Stemple.
Surviving is one brother, Scott D. Stemple, Terra Alta, W.Va.
Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, where a service was conducted Saturday, Dec. 11, with the Rev. Michael Mudge officiating. Interment was in Garrett County Memorial Gardens, Oakland.
COLLEEN F. YODER
Colleen Faye Yoder, 67, Street, died Friday, Dec. 10, 1999, at the St. Joseph Medical Center, Towson.
Born Jan. 1, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Claude and Hazel (Beachy) Yoder.
She was born of Amish and Mennonite heritage in Grantsville. She was a 1949 graduate of Allegany High School in Cumberland and had been a resident of Harford County for over 40 years. She began her employment at the Whiteford Pharmacy when it opened in 1962, and continued until her retirement in 1996. She was a member of the Emory United Methodist Church, Street.
Survivors include her husband, Edward D. Yoder; one daughter, Debra (Yoder) Harkins, Whiteford; two brothers, Olin Yoder, Linthicum, and Gary Yoder, McHenry; one sister, Mary (Yoder) O’Brien, Alexandria, Va.; and two granddaughters.
Friends were received at the Harkins Funeral Home, Delta, Pa. A service was conducted Monday, Dec. 13, at the Emory United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Michael P. Fauconnet officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

DWIGHT W. MCKINNEY
Dwight W. McKinney, 54, Bethesda, died Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999, at Surburban Hospital, Bethesda.
Born June 17, 1945, in Uniontown, Pa., he was a son of the late James L. and Pearl (Bruce) McKinney. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Beatrice Bryte, and one brother, James McKinney.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Surviving are two sisters, Lillian R. Shaffer, Oakland, and Mary J. Wolfe, Dunbar, Pa.; and two brothers, Donald McKinney, Concord, N.C., and Bernard McKinney, McClellandtown, Pa.
A graveside service was conducted at the Bethel Cemetery, Farmington, Pa., on Wednesday, Dec. 8, with the Rev. Vince Cable officiating.
The Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, was in charge of arrangements.
OCIE A. SUMMERFIELD
Ocie Alice Summerfield, 97, Willoughby Hills, Ohio, formerly of Elkins, W.Va., died Friday, Dec. 10, 1999, at the residence of her daughter, Vera Bradshaw, where she made her home.
Born June 6, 1902, in Jenningston, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late William and Eliza Flynn. She was also preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Vernice Summerfield, in 1972; one son, Hugh Summerfield; three daughters, Elsie Fox, Shirley Stemple, and Thelma Cerne; three brothers; and one sister.
She attended schools in Tucker County, W.Va., was a homemaker, and a member of the Rebekah Lodge.
Survivors include one son, Carl Summerfield, Quincy, Calif.; three daughters, Mona Herring, Confluence, Pa., Betty Smith, Harrisonburg, Va., and Vera Bradshaw, Willoughby Hills; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Lohr-Barb-Vance Funeral Home, Elkins, where a service was conducted Monday, Dec. 13, with the Rev. Connie Gainer officiating. Interment followed.
DARIUS S. BITTINGER
Darius S. Bittinger, 90, Grantsville, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999, at the home of his daughter in Grantsville.
Born Nov. 11, 1909, in Garrett County, he was a son of the late Silas and Mary Maude (Miller) Bittinger. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Frances (Merriner) Bittinger, on Oct. 3, 1980; three brothers; and four sisters.
He was a member of the Laughlin Church of the Brethren, the Grantsville Senior Citizens, and was a retired foreman for Sam E. Barnett Metal Company, Akron, Ohio.
Survivors include five sons, David L. Bittinger, Uniontown, Ohio, Paul D. Bittinger and Leonard E. Bittinger, both of Akron, Lloyd E. Bittinger, Mogadore, Ohio, and Stanley R. Bittinger, Cadiz, Ohio; four daughters, Mary Gemberling, Ravenna, Ohio, Lois Carter, Akron, Grace Lopez, Deerfield, Ohio, and Sarah Broom, Grantsville; two brothers, Theodore Bittinger, Grantsville, and Sherman Bittinger, Akron; two sisters, Alma Clegg and Ellen Molnar, both of Barberton, Ohio; 31 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, where a service was conducted Monday, Dec. 13, with the Rev. Ross Glotfelty officiating. Interment was in the Grantsville Cemetery.

DOROTHY R. LEAR
Dorothy R. Lear, 87, Oakland, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born July 8, 1912, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Insall and Minnie (Wall) Reed. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Earle Lear Jr., in 1988.
She was a retired secretary and a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Oakland.
Survivors include one son, Earle R. Lear, Orlando, Fla.; two daughters, Edith I. Weese, Dunkirk, and Dorothy E. Lear, Oakland; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, where a service was conducted Monday, Dec. 13, with the Rev. Roger Harrison and the Rev. Ann Harrison officiating. Interment was in Garrett County Memorial Gardens, Oakland.

JOHNSON C. DEVORE III
Johnson C. DeVore III, 68, Burgettstown, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999, at his home.
Born Sept. 14, 1931, in Frostburg, he was a son of the late Johnson C. DeVore II and Elizabeth (Thorp_ DeVore. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mollie L. (Wilt) DeVore, on June 24, 1997.
He was a member of the Unity Gospel Church, Burgettstown, and was a National Guard veteran. He was a member of the Pittsburgh Indian Association, American Legion, and Logstown Association. He was a retired carpenter.
Survivors include three daughters, Dorothy Orgovan, Chester, W.Va., Mary K. Broadwater, Barton, and Debra Speer, Burgettstown; one brother, William O. DeVore, Niles, Ohio; one sister, Mary Carter, Mount Savage; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

KENNETH E. TICHINEL
Kenneth Everitt Tichinel, 68, Kitzmiller, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999, in Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born Feb. 6, 1931, in Mount Zion, he was a son of the late John and Percy (Paugh) Tichinel.
He was a retired coal miner and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife, Alta (Dixon) Tichinel; one son, Tim Tichinel, Kitzmiller; two daughters, Geraldine Dawson and Carole Kent, both of Kitzmiller; two brothers, Stanley Tichinel, Swanton, and Earl Tichinel, Aliquippa, Pa.; two sisters, Pauline Lambka, Elk Garden, W.Va., and Marie Brown, Swanton; and 13 grandchildren.
