GLADYS L. RHODES
Gladys Leola Rhodes, 82, Elk Garden, W.Va., died Sunday, Dec. 5, 1999, at the Cuppett-Weeks Nursing Home, Oakland.
Born Aug. 29, 1917, in Hancock, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Armeda Hiles. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James E. Rhodes.
Friends were received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, Kitzmiller, where a service was conducted Wednesday, Dec. 8, with the Rev. Donald Nelson officiating. Interment was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Elk Garden.
OLIVE R. ROBESON
Olive R. Robeson, 93, Frostburg, died Monday, Dec. 6, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Sept. 25, 1906, in Avilton, she was a daughter of the late Otho S. and Linnie (Weitzell) Fike. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ellis O. Robeson; one daughter, Anna Ruth Winfield; two brothers, Ray Fike and Cecil Fike; three sisters, Laura Eichorn, Fanny Fike, and Annie Chaney; and three grandchildren.
She was a member of the Cherry Grove Church of the Brethren.
Surviving are six sons, James R. Robeson, Hockessin, Del., Robert O. Robeson, Cumberland, John H. Robeson, Finzel, Joseph W. Robeson, Hagerstown, Donald E. Robeson, Baltimore, and Richard E. Robeson, Bel Air; two daughters, Ina Lee Donius and Rosemary J. Grimes, both of Frostburg; two brothers, George Fike, Frostburg, and Harold Fike, Avilton; two sisters, Mildred Bell, Somerset, Ohio, and Rose Wilhelm, Avilton; 21 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Sowers Funeral Home, Frostburg, where a service was conducted earlier today, Dec. 9, with the Rev. George M. Harpold officiating, assisted by Mrs. Robeson’s son, Joseph W. Robeson. Interment was in the Mount Zion Cemetery, Long Stretch.

BEULAH J. HARDESTY
Beulah Juanita Hardesty, 76, Aurora, W.Va., died Sunday, Dec. 5, 1999, at her home.
Born Dec. 9, 1922, at Horse Shoe Run, she was a daughter of the late Summers and Iva Mae (Wotring) Slaubaugh. She was also preceded in death by her husband, David C. Hardesty, and two sisters.
She owned and operated the Windmill Restaurant for 32 years. She was a member of Rebekah Lodge #14 and the Aurora Volunteer Fire Department’s ladies auxiliary.
Survivors include one son, David S. Hardesty, Frametown, W.Va.; one daughter, Katherine Lynn Hardesty, Aurora; one brother, Guy Slaubaugh, Horse Shoe Run; two sisters, Grace Giordano, Eglon, W.Va., and Pearl Valentine, Cumberland; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
At Mrs. Hardesty’s request, her body was cremated. A memorial service will be conducted Friday, Dec. 10, at 1 p.m., at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Aurora, with the Rev. William Connelly officiating.
The family requests that donations take the form of contributions to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or the Union Ambulance Service at Aurora.
The Hinkle Funeral Home, Davis, W.Va., is in charge of arrangements.
REV. ARNOLD J. MOSES
The Rev. Arnold J. 'Don' Moses, 90, Oakland, died Monday, Dec. 6, 1999, at the Meyersdale (Pa.) Medical Center.
Born April 23, 1909, in Nikep, he was the son of the late J. Allen and Annie (Johnson) Moses. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Oma L. (Paugh) Moses, in 1997.
He served with the U.S. Army in the European Theatre during World War II, and he was discharged with the rank of technical sergeant. Following his military service, he was ordained a minister with the Assemblies of God church and pastored churches in Falls, W.Va., Deale, and Kitzmiller.
Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Vauda Owendoff-Schwanke, Fairfax, Va., and Gladys Silber, Falls Church, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday. A service will be conducted at the Lakeside Assembly of God Church on Saturday, Dec. 11, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Robert Shank and the Rev. Rob Culler officiating. Interment will be in Garrett County Memorial Gardens, Oakland.
Friends may call at the church two hours prior to the service.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by members of the various veterans organizations in southern Garrett County.
The family suggests memorials take the form of contributions to the Lakeside Assembly of God Church, 18102 Garrett Highway, Oakland, MD 21550.
FRANCIS E. ANTHONY
Francis E. Anthony, 81, Mtn. Lake Park, died Monday, Dec. 6, 1999, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born Dec. 5, 1918, in Hancock, Mich., he was the son of the late Mervin and Delta (Morin) Anthony. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Bernadine M. (Simpson) Anthony, in 1992, and by two stepdaughters, Ruth Kitzmiller and Shirley Landis.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include two stepsons, William E. Kitzmiller, Manassas, Va., and James E. Kitzmiller, Oakland; one stepdaughter, Helena M. Kitzmiller, Brunswick; 16 stepgrandchildren; 22 step-great-grandchildren; and five step-great-great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, where a service was conducted at 2 p.m. today, Dec. 9, with the Rev. Arthur Evans officiating. Interment was in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
NEIL R. BRUBAKER
Neil Brubaker, Oakland, Md, died Monday, Nov. 29, 1999, from injuries he sustained in a single-vehicle that occured early that morning between Gormania and Bayard, W.Va.
Born March 24, 1942, in Baltimore, Brubaker was a son of Alice (Shindel) Chase, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and the late Earl W. Brubaker.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran and had worked for Gray Concrete Pipe Co. in Baltimore and Master Casting in Accident.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two children, Pam Brubaker of Massachusetts, and Todd Brubaker with the U.S. Navy; one brother, Donald Brubaker, Kingsville; and three grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Fredlock Funeral Home, Piedmont, W.Va. A graveside service was conducted earlier today, Dec. 2, in Lancaster, Pa.
CHARLES C. LAUB
Charles Clarence 'Tatsy' Laub, 87, Confluence, Pa., died Sunday, Nov. 28, 1999, at Uniontown (Pa.) Hospital.
Born June 22, 1912, in Connellsville, Pa., he was a son of the late Charles E. and Cora (Frazee) Laub. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Robert Laub, and one great-granddaughter.
He was a member of the Addison (Pa.) United Methodist Church, the Markleysburg (Pa.) Volunteer Fire Department, and the Pennsylvania State Education Association. He taught school in the Henry Clay Township, Pa., Uniontown, and mountain area schools for 41 years.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Rose (Teets) Laub, a former Garrett County resident; two daughters, Betty Harvey, New Martinsville, W.Va., and Eileen Augustine, Addison; one brother, Lyman Laub, Old Bridge, N.J.; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Humbert Funeral Home in Confluence, Pa. A service was conducted Wednesday, Dec. 1, at the Addison United Methodist Church with the Rev. Timothy Rogers and Pastor Ross Glotfelty officiating. Interment was in the Addison Cemetery.
WALTER G. RESH
Walter Glenn Resh, 74, Reisterstown, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 1999, at his home.
Born June 2, 1925, in Grantsville, he was a son of the late Orvis and Nora Belle Resh. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Elmer Resh and Elwood Resh, and two sisters, Myrtle I. Miller and Edith L. Resh.
He was a retired contractor.
Survivors include his wife, Annalee F. Resh; two daughters, Darleen Marie DiGirolamo, Reisterstown, and J. Dianne Kreider, Sykesville; one son, Denver Glenn Resh, Reisterstown; four sisters, Ruthie E. Hetrick, Alexandria, Va., Rosella Miner, Jesse Marie Resh, and Carrie Alice Wilt, all of Grantsville; five brothers, Albert Resh and Blaine Roy Resh, both of Virginia, Clark E. Resh, Grantsville, Norman O. Resh, Reisterstown, and P. Ray Resh, Woodlawn; and six grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Eline Funeral Home, Reisterstown. A service was conducted at the Reisterstown Evergreen Church of the Brethren on Wednesday, Dec. 1, with the Rev. Shirley Barley officiating. Interment was in Lakeview Memorial Park, Sykesville.
GILDA M. YODER
Gilda May Yoder, 71, Meyersdale, Pa., died Sunday, Nov. 28, 1999, at her home.
Born Nov. 3, 1928, in Coal Run, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Jerry and Alverta (Stevanus) Stevanus. She was also preceded in death by two husbands, David T. Yoder, July 22, 1963, and Albert R. Yoder, March 1, 1996; two sons, Donald L. Yoder and one in infancy; one granddaughter; one sister, Mabel Stevanus; and one brother, Dewey Stevanus.
She was a member of the Salisbury (Pa.) Church of the Brethren, and was a homemaker.
Survivors include five daughters, Penny Mason, Patricia Knopsynder, and Tammy Hoover, all of Meyersdale, Teresa Trau, Margate, Fla., and Roberta Peck, Fort Hill, Pa.; two brothers, Clifford J. Stevanus, Somerset, Pa., and Martin W. Stevanus, Confluence, Pa.; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

RAYMOND E. SILBAUGH
Raymond Eugene 'Todd' Silbaugh, 71, Friendsville, died Saturday, Nov. 27, 1999, at his home.
Born July 23, 1928, in Selbysport, he was the son of the late Albert and Bessie Marie (Artice) Silbaugh. He was also preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Terry Youmans.
He was a retired sawyer for Coddington Lumber Company, and was Methodist by faith.
Survivors include his wife, Ilene P. (Glass) Silbaugh; one stepson, Rodney Youmans, Grantsville; one stepdaughter, Donna Wendt, Twentynine Palms, Calif.; one sister, Betty Coddington, Loch Lynn; and two step-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Friendsville, where a service was conducted Tuesday, Nov. 30, with the Rev. Dennis Dawson officiating. Interment was in the Steele Cemetery.

LYLE E. WRIGHT
Lyle Eugene Wright, 76, Cumberland, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, following a lengthy illness.
Born Nov. 22, 1923, in Deer Park, he was a son of the late Charles and Carrie Lee Wright.
He was retired from the Kelly Springfield Company after 40 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a Purple Heart recipient, and a member of the Cresaptown United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Norma (Duckworth) Wright; one daughter, Valerie Lytle, Hebrong, Ky.; one son, Eugene Wright, Cumberland; one sister, Catherine Savage, McHenry; one brother, Charles Wright, McHenry; and four grandchildren.
