Harold L. Adams
CAMBRIDGE - Harold Lloyd Adams, 88, died Wednesday evening, Jan. 8, 2003 at the Memorial Hospital at Easton.
He was born Nov. 26, 1914 in Baltimore, the son of the late Lambertine Adams and Mary Emily Meekins Adams.
For most of is life he lived in Baltimore, where he had worked at the Maryland Dry Dock for 45 years as a supervisor, working on ships from all over the world. He enjoyed his occupation and meeting people from various countries.
On Aug. 30, 1964 he married the former E. June Burton. She died on April 30, 1997.
In 1996 he and his wife moved to Cambridge at Woods Crossing. After his wife's death he lived with his daughter until he was admitted at The Pine in Easton about a year ago.
Mr. Adams liked to travel and was devoted to his family.
Surviving is his daughter, Kaye P. Bradshaw of Easton; a grandson, James Harold Bradshaw and his girlfriend, Susie Kahl, both of Cambridge; a niece whom he raised, Doris Vig of Ketchikan, Alaska; a nephew, Leonard Flowers and his wife, Phyllis of Cambridge and remaining nieces and nephews; and close friends of the family, Jean Morris and Ellen Paul.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at the Greenlawn Cemetery in Cambridge. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Don A. Schell.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Mr. Adams' memory to Antioch United Methodist Church, c/o Susan Meredith, 5413 Town Point Road, Cambridge, MD 21613.

John O. Robbins
CAMBRIDGE - John O. Robbins, 67, passed away at his home on Monday, Jan. 6, 2003. He had been in failing health for several months.
He was born June 25, 1935 in Cambridge, the son of the late Herman and Gethel Pritchett Robbins.
Mr. Robbins had attended schools in Cambridge. He was engaged in farming for most of his life. On Dec. 10, 1955 he was married to the former Doris Robinson.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and the Baraca Class, and had served on the Administrative Board. Mr. Robbins was also a member of the Dorchester County Farm Bureau and AARP.
Besides his wife, his survivors include one sister, Hazel R. Marshall of Cambridge; one brother, R. Kenneth Robbins of Federalsburg and numerous nieces and nephews, including two special nieces, Karen Phillips and Nancy Richardson, who had cared for him and another special niece, Rhonda Mills, who had been like a daughter.
Mr. Robbins was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Robbins and four brothers, Hildon M. Robbins, Herman C. Robbins, Dorsey J. Robbins and Paul R. Robbins.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. today at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with the Rev. Douglas M. Ridley officiating. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park.
The family received friends from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Kathleen C. Cephas
CAMBRIDGE - Kathleen Corrine Cephas, 72, passed away Monday, Jan. 6, 2003 at Chesapeake Woods.
She was born Jan. 9, 19 30 in Dorchester County, daughter of the late Willie White and the late Annie Willis.
Mrs. Cephas was educated in the schools of Dorchester County. Her employment and retirement was with the Todd Seafood Co.
She attended the Pentecostal Church of the First Born in Cambridge, under the pastor Mother Lillian Harvest.
Mrs. Cephas is survived by four sons - Franklin Travers of Elkton, Thomas Keene of Salisbury, Edward Cephas Jr. of Cambridge and Samuel Cephas of Bridgeville, Del.; four daughters - Diane Keene of Richmond, Va., JoAnn Keene, Mary Robinson and Nazarene Perry, all of Cambridge; a son-in-law, McDonald Robinson of Cambridge; three daughters-in-law, Crystal Travers of Elkton, Terry Keene of Salisbury and Constance Cephas of Cambridge; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchilden, cousins and a special friend of the family, Norris Stafford.
Besides her parents, Mrs. Cephas was preceded in death by her husband, Edward B. Cephas Sr.; a stepfather, George Willis; two uncles, Oscar Travers and Monroe Travers; and two aunts, Bessie Taylor and Nellie Felton.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at the Bethel AME Church in Cambridge with the Rev. Weldon Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at the Bethel Cemetery.
There will be a viewing from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Henry Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
Paul M. Lankford
SALISBURY - Paul M. Lankford, 75, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003 at Deer's Head Hospital Center.
He was born in Galestown, the son of the late Scott and Myra Brinsfield Lankford.
Mr. Lankford was a lifetime member of the VFW Meuse Post 194 and the American Legion Spring Hill Post 237 in Hebron.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty L. Lankford of Salisbury; two daughters, Susan Lankford of Salisbury and Sharon Hampp and her husband, Charlie of Olney; a grandson, David Hampp of Olney; two sisters, Margaret Bailey of Salisbury and Ann Lankford of Denton; three brothers, David Lankford of Beach Haven, Eddie Lankford of Hurlock and Robert Lankford of Seaford, Del.; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Lankford was preceded in death by four brothers: Alfred, Scott, Ervin and Paul Lankford and two sisters: Pauline Knowles and Elenor Bennett.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the Bounds Funeral Home on East Main Street in Salisbury where friends may call one hour prior to the service. The Rev. J. Harvey Dixon will officiate. Burial will follow in Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury.

Jason T. Wise
CAMBRIDGE - Jason T. Wise, 32, passed away on Wednesday night, Jan. 22, 2003. He was born March 30, 1970 in Cambridge, the son of William L. and Diane Handley Wise III.
Mr. Wise attended schools in Cambridge, having graduated from Cambridge-South Dorchester High School in 1988. He was a member of the Cambridge Yacht Club and was also a Past President of the Delmarva Oil Heat Association. He had been working in the family business, Wise Oil & Fuel Inc., and was currently serving as Vice President.
He enjoyed boating, hunting, fishing and working with computers.
In addition to his parents of Cambridge, Mr. Wise is survived by two sons, Tully Logan Wise and Oakley Aaron Wise, both of Salisbury; a brother, William Mark Wise and his wife, Sheryl R. Wise of Columbus, Ga.; one niece, Emmie Ruth Wise and one nephew, Hamilton Wise, both of Columbus, Ga.; his maternal grandmother, Gladys Woolford of Cambridge; his paternal grandfather, William L. Wise Jr. of Cambridge; one aunt, Ginger Wise Brannock and one uncle, Dan Brannock of Cambridge.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Thomas Funeral Home by the Rev. J. Edward King and the Rev. Douglas M. Ridley. Burial will follow in Dorchester Memorial Park.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday during the hour before the service.

J. William Stokes Sr.
FEDERALSBURG - J. William Stokes Sr., 98 died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003 at the Shore Health and Rehabilitation Center in Denton. He would have been 99 on April 23.
Mr. Stokes was born April 23, 1904 in Cordell, Ga., the son of the late Charles Stokes and Mission Dennard Stokes. He was preceded in death by his wife, Della Washington Stokes.
During his life he worked for the former Caroline Poultry in Federalsburg, for Donald Lee Margin at E. I. Dupont Col in Seaford and he last worked at Caroline County Recreation and Parks.
The last of nine children, he is survived by two sons, Earley Gary of Bunell, Fla. and J. William Stokes Jr. of Federalsburg and many grandchilden, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three daughters, Audrey Sand, Oretha McDonald and Vernell Lemon who died on April 7, 2002.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the Framptom-Hawkins-Eskow Funeral Home, P.A. in Federalsburg. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday.
Mary Dayton
ANNAPOLIS - Mary Dayton, 86, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003 at the Anne Arundel Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 13, 1916 in Golden Hill, daughter of the late Louis Bernard Keene and Rubye Shenton Keene.
Mrs. Dayton attended the Dorchester County Schools and graduated from the area high school.
She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Dayton Biggs of Annapolis; two stepdaughters, Carol Dayton and Patricia Dayton; five stepgrandchilden, Jacqueline Richter, Charles Dayton, Diane Brown, Elizabeth Wildasin, Alison Gasper; two grandsons, Russell Dayton and Jonathan Dayton and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Wilson Keene, Clyde Keene and Russell Keene; a sister, Berniece English and a son, Joseph C. Dayton.
Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at Dorchester Memorial Park. Friends may call from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. today at the Singleton Funeral Home in Glen Burnie.

James George Jr.
EASTON - James George Jr. of Federalsburg died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003 at The Pines Genesis Eldercare in Easton. He was 74.
He was born April 19, 1928 in Preston, the son of the late James George Sr. and Alberta Haynes George. His wife, Rosemary Cannon George, preceded him in death on Nov. 3, 1988.
He was a United States Army veteran, serving from 1951 to 1953. He had worked for Sisk and Son as a forklift operator, retiring after 37 years of service. He attended Farmers' Memorial Church of God in Christ in Jonestown.
He is survived by six children, Pauline Pinkett of Rhodesdale, Tom Newcomb of Seaford, Del., Yvonne Willis of Fort Washington, Patricia Garfield of Denton, Melvina Carter of Hurlock and Valerie Cannon of Waldorf; two step-sons, Charles Cannon of Laurel, Del. and Paul Cannon of Federalsburg; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; eight brothers and sisters, Estella Nichols of Preston, Martha Russ of Baltimore, John George of Preston, Thomas George of Hurlock, Oscar George of Hurlock, Elizabeth Polk of Seaford, Del., David George of Cambridge and Allan George of Richmond, Va.; and many nieces and nephews.
Two brothers, Lester George and Alfred George, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at noon at Mt. Zion Pentecostal Holiness Church in Bethlehem with Bishop Chester Friend officiating. Burial will follow at the Eastern Shore Veterans' Cemetery in Hurlock.

Elsie Harris
SMYRNA, Del. - Elsie Harris, formerly of Laurel, Del., died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003 at the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill in Smyrna, Del. She was 88.
She was born Nov. 6, 1914 in Ross Point, Del., the daughter of the late Joseph John Oney and Lenora West Oney. Her husband, James Harris, preceded her in death on Oct. 24, 1977.
She was a homemaker and was a member of St. John A.M.E. Church at Ross Point, where she served in the choir.
She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Retta Oney and Reba Gaines, both of Laurel, Del.; many nieces and nephews; a step-daughter, Octavene H. Saunders and step-son, Benjamin Harris Jr., both of Cambridge.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Ida Oney, Addie West, Nancy Truitt, and Pansy Oney; and six brothers, Dallas, Cecil, Samuel, Priestly, Cartlon and John Oney.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 1 p.m. at St. John A.M.E. Zion Church in Laurel, Del. with the Rev. Oris P. Fields officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the church on today from 6-8 p.m. and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday. Arrangements are by Framptom-Hawkins-Eskow Funeral Home in Federalsburg.
Brady M. Rossy
BERLIN - Brady M. Rossy of Selbyville, Del., died Friday, Jan. 31, 2003 at the Berlin Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Berlin. He was 77.
Mr. Rossy was born in Cambridge on March 27, 1925, the son of the late Carl and Lucy Elzey Rossy.
He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy and a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a life member of the Disabled Veterans of Maryland, a member of Mason-Dixon VFW Post 1234 of Ocean View, Del., a member of Sinepuxent American Legion Post 166 of Ocean City, and a member of the Swann Keys Sports Club.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Wright Rossy, of Selbyville, Del.; a brother, T. Calvin Rossy of Salisbury; a sister, Peggy Lou Outten of Salisbury; two grandsons, Timothy Gore and Ray Moore; one step-grandchild, Stacy Allen; three step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
A daughter, Bonnie Sue Moore and a brother, Johnny C. Rossy, preceded Mr. Rossy in death.
A funeral will be held Wednesday at noon at the Hastings Funeral Home in Selbyville, with the Rev. Lewis Mitchell officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour before the service. Burial will be at Delaware Veterans' Cemetery in Millsboro.

Frank H. Nuttall
MADISON - Frank Henry "Bud" Nuttall, age 73, of Madison, died at home Friday evening, Jan. 31, 2003.
Born on Sept. 12, 1929 in Havre de Grace, he was the son of the late Frank Henry Nuttall Sr. and Mary Ellen Purcell Nuttall Cottrell.
Mr. Nuttall was a graduate of Old Post Road High School in Abingdon. He served in the Maryland National Guard for 10 years.
On June 30, 1962 he married the former Edna Hobbs.
Mr. Nuttall owned L&H Dry Cleaners in Glen Burnie, retiring in 1984. After retirement, he and has wife moved to Madison.
He enjoyed living in Madison, where he was near the water and liked to fish and crab. He also liked to hunt.
Surviving besides his wife of 40 years, Edna Nuttall of Madison, are five children, Victoria Siebert of Toddville and her fiancé Ray Thoman of Pennsylvania, Karen Pritchard of Cambridge and her husband Paul Pritchard Jr., Deborah Etchingham of Sarasota, Fla., Dale Hay of Norfolk, Va., Mark Nuttall of Morrisville, N.C. and his wife Silke; a brother, Donald H. Nuttall of Gasburg, Va. and his wife Mildred; three sisters, Patricia Jean Dear of New Castle, Del., Dorothy Tiller and Jane Vina Nuttall, both of Abingdon; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents was a brother Robert William Nuttall and a brother-in-law David Dear.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Robert 0. Kirkley. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.

Mary Evelyn Arnett
CAMBRIDGE - Mary Evelyn Arnett, 90, of East New Market, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003 at Dorchester General Hospital in Cambridge. She is survived by two sisters, Doris Flick of Silver Spring and Edna Fluharty of Preston; and one brother, Albert "Buck" Arnett of Clearwater, Fla.

Bernard A. Moxey Sr.
BALTIMORE - Bernard A. Moxey Sr. of Secretary died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003 at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore. He was 69.
Mr. Moxey was born in Cambridge on Aug. 16, 1933, the son of the late Albert J. Moxey and Sophie Wanex Moxey.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Mr. Moxey worked as an electrician for John Tieder for 40 years, retiring in 1999. Since his retirement, he was employed by Ronnie Coulbourn Electric.
He was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Secretary, Hurlock American Legion Post 243, and a lifetime member of Secretary Volunteer Fire Company.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey M. Gott Moxey of Secretary, whom he married on June 30, 1956; one son and daughter-in-law, Bernie A. Moxey Jr. and Connie Moxey of Secretary; one granddaughter, Christine Ann Moxey of Secretary; one grandson, Schad Anthony Moxey of Secretary; two sisters, Mary M. Moxey and Cecilia M. Era, both of East New Market; two brothers, Lawrence Moxey of Dunkirk and Frederick Moxey of Preston; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Brian A. Moxey and Matthew A. Moxey; and two brothers, Joseph Moxey and Albert "Buck" Moxey.
There will be a viewing today from 7-9 p.m. at the Zeller Funeral Home in East New Market, where a prayer service will be held at 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Secretary, the Rev. Anthony P. Greco officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Paul Era, Jerry Moxey, Dennis Wielgosz, Pat Wielgosz, Robert John Moxey and Ronnie Moxey.

Betty J. Mills
CAMBRIDGE - Betty J. Mills, 73, of Cambridge, passed away at Dorchester General Hospital late Saturday afternoon, Feb. 1, 2003. Mrs. Mills had been a patient at the local hospital since Jan. 28 and has been in failing health for the past year.
She was born in Easton on Feb. 27, 1929, the daughter of the late George Washington and Lavinia Dobbson Scott. She was raised and attended public schools in Talbot County.
She resided in Easton for some years and was employed at McCord's Laundry and later moved to Cordova where she worked at the Esskay plant. Prior to moving to Cambridge three years ago, she made her home in Dover, Del. and was employed at Capitol Cleaners.
She attended the Bay Country Bible Church and was a former member of the Cambridge Power Boat Association and the Hills Point Gang.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Raymond Wingate of Cambridge; two foster daughters, Vivian Hastings of Fruitland and Bonnie Ross of Cambridge; two grandchildren, Candy Hollands and Christopher Frantum; three great-grandchildren, Michael Frantum, Detrick Frantum, and Ravin Bryan; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
A graveside service will be conducted at Dorchester Memorial Park on Tuesday at 1 p.m. by the Rev. Douglas Wooten. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Colazo, Gene Warfield, Ricky Hubbard, Ray Wingate, Phil Hastings and Bill Scott. Friends will be received at the Thomas Funeral Home on Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
