Frances G. Stevens
FEDERALSBURG - Frances "Fran" G. Stevens, 66, of Preston died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001 at the Memorial Hospital at Easton.
She was born June 30, 1934 in Crozet, Va., the daughter of the late Henry W. and Gertrude Lillian Keener Colvin.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Stevens is survived by her husband of 49 years, Edward P. Stevens Sr. of Preston; three sons, Edward P. Stevens Jr. of Stewartstown, Pa., Donald W. Stevens of Odenton, Christian N. Stevens of Preston; a daughter, Cherylyn K. Stevens of Hurlock; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a sister, Isabelle C. Edwards of Crozet, Va., and a sister-in-law, Georgette M. Stevens of Preston.
A funeral service will be held noon Monday at Glen Haven Memorial Park in Glen Burnie.
Friends will be received at Framptom-Hawkins-Eskow Funeral Home 6-9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Myrtle E. T. Hassett
FEDERALSBURG - Myrtle Elizabeth Turner Hassett, 92, formerly of Federalsburg, died Friday, Feb. 9, 2001 at the Seaford Genesis Eldercare Center.
She was born June 25, 1908 in Williamsburg, Md., the daughter of the late William and Virginia Windsor Todd. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Theodore R. Turner and William A. Hassett.
Mrs. Hassett had worked on the assembly line at Maryland Plastics until her retirement in 1970 after 26 years of service. She had attended Christ United Methodist Church in Federalsburg.
She is survived by two daughters, Jean T. Seipp of Seaford, Del. and Fay T. Clendaniel of Georgetown, Del.; a daughter-in-law, Ruth Ann Turner of Seaford; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Theodore "Mace" Turner in 1996 and was the last of nine children.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday at the Framptom-Hawkins-Eskow Funeral Home, P.A. Burial will follow at Hill Crest Cemetery in Federalsburg.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday one hour prior to the service.

Richard A. Murphy
CAMBRIDGE - Richard A. "Ricky" Murphy, 39, passed away Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001, as the result of injuries received in an automobile accident.
He was born in Cambridge Dec. 3, 1962, the son of William H. and Florence Doege Murphy. He attended schools in Cambridge, having graduated from Cambridge-South Dorchester High School in 1980. He also attended Chesapeake College. He worked for John W. Tieder for a number of years.
Besides his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Robert H. Murphy and James Russell Murphy, both of Cambridge; one aunt, the Rev. Mary Ann Farnell; one uncle, Freddie Doege; and several cousins.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Monday at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge. The Rev. Mary Ann Farnell and the Rev. A. Delmer Willey will officiate. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends during the hour preceding the service Monday.

Murphy Addendum
CAMBRIDGE - In addition to the survivors already listed for Richard A. "Ricky" Murphy, 38, who passed away Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001 was a grandmother, Rosalie Doege of Cambridge.
Services for Mr. Murphy were held 1 p.m. Monday at the Thomas Funeral Home. Burial followed at Dorchester Memorial Park.
Ernest B. Beath Sr.
CAMBRIDGE - Ernest Ballard Beath Sr., 80, died at his home Thursday morning, Feb. 8, 2001, after a lengthy illness.
Born Feb. 20, 1920 in Kaiying, China, he was the son of missionary parents Sterling and Eilleen Ballard Beath from Evansville, Wis.
In 1937, he graduated from Shanghai American School and came to the United States. He was a graduate of the University of Southern California and the University of Colorado with a degree in Japanese language arts.
He was a World War II Navy Reserve veteran, having served with Adm. "Jacko" Clark, Adm. Nimitz and Adm. John McCain in the Pacific on various aircraft carriers as a Japanese interpreter. He was honorably discharged with the rank of lieutenant, received two bronze stars, one gold star and various medals and citations for meritorious achievements.
He married the former Eleanor Poteat on March 14, 1945.
After the war, he joined the National Security Agency (NSA). He retired in 1974 as a research analyst. He and his wife moved from Annapolis to Town Point. It was at that he restored that farm. He and his wife moved to Bonnie Brook in 1989.
Mr. Beath was a member of Antioch United Methodist Church in Town Point. He was also a member of the Phoenix Society of the NSA.
In earlier years, he was an avid sailor. For many years, he was active in the Project Read program at the Dorchester County Public Library, where he taught Chinese immigrants English.
Besides his wife, he is survived by six children, Kathrine Beath Godsey of Fountain Inn, S.C., Nida Beath Petachenko of Virginia Beach, Va., Ernest Beath Jr. of Cambridge, John Beath and his wife, Teresa, of Tyaskin, James "Jimmy" Beath and his wife, Tracy, of Upperco, and Richard "Ricky" Beath and his partner, D.J. Repischak of St. Paul, Minn.; one brother, Sterling S. Beath of Evansville, Wis.; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer and Richard Godsey, Matthew and Jeremy Beech, Ernest B. Beath III, Erika and Christopher Beath and Scotty, Kenny and Jamie Beath; three great-grandchildren, Tyler, Payton and Zachary Beech; two sisters-in-law, Ann Rose of New Hampton, N.H., and Nida Sileo of Ormond Beach, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death besides his parents were three brothers-in-law, Wallace Poteat, Rabon Rose and Nick Sileo; and one sister-in-law, Priscilla Humbert.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Antioch United Methodist Church, Town Point Road, Cambridge. The Rev. Gloria S. Attix will officiate. There will be no viewing.
Burial will follow at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.

CAMBRIDGE - Ernest Ballard Beath Sr., 80, died Feb. 8, 2001. Although services were previously held at Antioch United Methodist Church, his inurnment service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Feb. 27 at Arlington National Cemetery Columbarium.

William J. Brannock
CAMBRIDGE - William Jones Brannock, 72, passed away Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001, at the Chesapeake Woods Center in Cambridge.
Born at Stoney Ridge Farm May 22, 1928, he was the son of the late William Henry and Sadie Jones Brannock. He attended schools in Cambridge and was active in 4-H Club cattle judging contest. As an adult, he was a farmer who loved nature and outdoor pursuits. He enjoyed reading, philosophy and listening to classical music.
For a number of years, he was a volunteer at Eastern Shore Hospital Center. As a young man, he had attended Antioch United Methodist Church at Town Point. He later became active with the Unitarian Fellowship in Easton.
He is survived by one sister, Jeanette B. Pomeroy of Cambridge, and five nieces and nephews, Martha Williams of Rochelle, Texas, Fred Pomeroy and Mary Sellers of Cambridge, David Travers of Salisbury and Steve Travers of Ocean City.'
He was preceded in death by a sister, Olive Travers.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Old Trinity Churchyard. The Rev. Gloria S. Attix will officiate. There will be no viewing.
Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.

Lucy I. Robbins
CAMBRIDGE - Lucy Irene Robbins, 78, formerly of Crapo, passed away at Dorchester General Hospital Friday, Feb. 9, 2001.
Born in Crapo Aug. 8, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Olie and Hilda Foxwell Robinson. She attended schools in Crapo. She married Stanford W. Robbins April 17, 1937. He passed away July 27, 1990.
During her younger years, Mrs. Robbins raised her children and had done various jobs in the Crapo community. During the 1960s, she drove a school bus. She worked at Airpax Corp. in Cambridge as a group leader in the machine shop from 1968 until she retired in 1988. She was known for her cooking and loved preparing family meals.
Mrs. Robbins lived in Crapo most of her live, living in Cambridge the past six months. She had been a patient at Mallard Bay Care Center for 10 days before she passed away.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Hollie R. and Betty of Secretary, Merrill J. and Judy of Portland, Maine, and Merritt B. and Nancy of Sharptown; eight grandchildren, Kevin Robbins, Mark Robbins, Dennis Robbins, Hollie R. Robbins Jr., Mia DeSanctis, Paula Fisher, Brian Robbins and John Robbins; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Stanford W. Robbins Jr., and a brother, Monroe Robinson.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge. The Rev. George W. Wheatley will officiate. Burial will follow at the East New Market Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday during the hour preceding the service.

CAMBRIDGE - Services for Lucy Irene Robbins, 78, who passed away Friday, Feb. 9, 2001at Dorchester General Hospital were held Tuesday at the Thomas Funeral Home. Burial followed at the East New Market Cemetery.
Born and raised in Crapo she attended the schools at Crapo. At the age of 60 Mrs. Robbins received her GED.
Katherine B. Pusey
FEDERALSBURG - Katherine B. Pusey, 84, passed away Sunday, Feb. 11, 2001, at Chesapeake Woods Genesis Eldercare of heart failure.
Born in Fruitland Dec. 11, 1916, she was the daughter of the late William and Bessie Tilghman Bowen. A resident of the Princess Anne area most of her life, she was a past member of the Princess Anne Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary and a former member of Antioch United Methodist Church there. She moved to Federalsburg in 1986, becoming a member of Union United Methodist Church.
She was married to the late Marion Pusey, who died May 25, 1973.
She is survived by one daughter, Barbara B. Davis, of Federalsburg; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Frances Hill and Mary Bowen, and two brothers, Wesley and George Bowen.
A private graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at Beechwood Cemetery in Princess Anne. The Rev. David Heistand will officiate. Burial will follow.

Wayne A. Ettare Sr.
RHODESDALE - Wayne Anthony Ettare Sr., 59, passed away Saturday, Feb. 10, 2001 at Dorchester General Hospital.
Born in Aberdeen June 11, 1941, he was the son Anthony Carl Ettare and the late Elizabeth Painter Ettare. He attended schools in Stanley, Va., having graduated from Stanley High School in 1959. He served in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1968. He worked as a pharmaceutical salesman for the Syntec Co. for 12 years. He also worked in Saudi Arabia.
He married the former Ruth Keller in 1989. They had made their home in Rhodesdale since 1995. He had owned Salisbury Medical Supply in Salisbury for the past five years.
He enjoyed recreational yachting and had owned a number of boats. He was also a sports fan.
Besides his father and wife, he is survived by two sons, Wayne Anthony Ettare Jr. and Eric J. Ettare, both of Chantilly, Va., two granddaughters, Irene Tiffany Ettare and Anne R. Ettare; one sister, Gloria Stallard of Stanley, Va.; one brother, Jim Ettare of Richmond, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial services will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge.
Oliver W. Hubbard
EAST NEW MARKET - Oliver Webb Hubbard, 69, died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2001, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
Born in Cambridge Feb. 23, 1931, he was the son of the late William Thomas Hubbard and Shirley Dashiell Hubbard. He was a graduate of East New Market High School and Charlotte Hall Military Academy. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and after his discharge, graduated from Wesleyan College in Dover.
Following graduation, he joined his family's farm business, continuing to farm until his recent illness.
He was a member of the East New Market Heritage Foundation and a former member of the East New Market Volunteer Fire Co.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Harrington Hubbard of East New Market; two sons, Gary Webb Hubbard and Blair Harrington Hubbard of East New Market; three grandchildren, Webb Hubbard of Hurlock and Hanna Hubbard and Hunter Hubbard of East New Market; one niece; five nephews and several cousins.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Gordon Hubbard and Richard Hubbard.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Feb. 14 at the Zeller Funeral Home in East New Market. The Rev. Carol Terry, the Rev. Jefferson Labala, the Rev. Dale Vroman and the Rev. Nathaniel Pierce will officiate. Burial will follow at East New Market Cemetery.
Viewings will be held 7 to 9 p.m. Feb. 13 and noon to 1 p.m. Feb. 14 at the Zeller Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Gary Hubbard, Blair Hubbard, Webb Hubbard, Mike Kral, Thomas Sampson, Marc Bramble, Robert Kinnamon and Charles Powell.
