Rowena R. Blades
CHOPTANK - Rowena Ruth Blades, 93, died Monday, Jan. 27, 2003 at The Pines in Easton.
She was born Dec. 21, 1909 at Choptank, the daughter of the late George Magers and Lurhetta Dunham Magers. Mrs. Blades had worked as a seamstress for Rosenblum Shirt Factory and also worked as a waitress at the Tastee Freeze in Easton.
She is survived by two daughters, Lona Ruth Jackson of Choptank and E. Jane Hurley of Preston; two sons, Marvin Clark Blades of Choptank, Roger Everett Blades of Parsonsburg; 16 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Everett Blades and a daughter, Erma I. Davis.
Funeral services will be held noon Wednesday at the Framptom-Hawkins-Eskow Funeral Home in Federalsburg. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Junior Order Cemetery.

Imogene T. Potter
CAMBRIDGE - Imogene T. Potter, 87, passed away Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 13, 2001 at her home. She was the wife of Thomas C. "Babe" Potter.
She was born April 29, 1913 at Bishops Head, the daughter of the late Reuben E. and Lola "Polly" Jones Bramble.
Mrs. Potter was raised and attended public schools in Dorchester County and has resided in Cambridge since the age of 13. She and Mr. Potter were married on May 23, 1931 and for many years resided on Henry Street. Mr. Potter passed away April 3, 1980.
She was interested in cooking and crocheting and devoted to her family.
Mrs. Potter is survived by one daughter, Harriett Pritchett of Cambridge; two sons: Thomas C. Potter of Irving, Texas and R. Wayne Potter of Cambridge; nine grandchildren: Michael F. Potter, Patrick C. Potter, Steven R. Potter, Anne Dunn, Richard W. Potter, Ronald R. Potter, Charles H. Potter, David A. Dodson and Michael B. Pritchett; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Alice Lloyd and one brother, Wallace R. Bramble, both of Cambridge. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Potter was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Tolley and Marjorie Brooks.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at the Thomas Funeral Home with the Rev. Randall T. Blackmon officiating. Burial will take place in the East New Market Cemetery.
Friends will be received by the family at the funeral home on Saturday during the hour preceding the service.
Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of the First Baptist Church, 501 Glenburn Ave., Cambridge, MD 21613.
Pallbearers will be grandsons of Mrs. Potter.
Charles Stanley
TAYLORS ISLAND - Charles Wesley Stanley (Charlie), 78, died Monday, Feb. 12, 2001 at the Dorchester General Hospital.
He was born June 17, 1922 in Taylors Island, son of the late Charles W. Stanley Sr. and Sarah Bishop-Stanley.
He worked in Annapolis for 43 years for the Department of Public Works.
Mr. Stanley was a member of Lane's United Methodist Church at Taylors Island.
His survivors include his wife of 45 years, Ruth Smith Stanley of Taylors Island; two daughters, Delilah Stanley Jones of Cambridge and Diane Womble of Florida; two sons, Wayne Cornish and Charles Cornish, both of Baltimore; five grandchildren, DeAdrein Jones of Cambridge, Charles Jr., Keith and Renee Cornish, all of Baltimore and Donnell Womble of Florida; two great-great-grandchildren, DeAdrein Jones Jr. and Decola Womble.
Mr. Stanley was preceded in death by a son, Bismark Stanley.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the Jefferson United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wallace Greene officiating. Burial will follow at Lane's Church Cemetery.
There will be a viewing 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Henry Funeral Home in Cambridge.
Mary E. Trotter
PORTSMOUTH, Va. - Mary E. Trotter, a former resident of Cambridge, died this morning, Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2001.
She is the mother of Maurice and Hilton Trotter of Cambridge.
Patricia C. Benjamin
CAMBRIDGE - Patricia Carol Brown Benjamin, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2001 at her home after a lengthy illness.
She was born at St. Paul, Minn., the daughter of the late William E. and Clara Bremer Brown.
Pat, who was a lifelong resident of Cambridge, was raised in St. Paul, Minn., and Madison, Wis., where she had attended public schools and was also a graduate of St. Paul M and A School of Business. For a number of years Mrs. Benjamin was employed in the accounting department of the Great Northern Railroad in St. Paul, Minn.
On Aug. 25, 1945 she was married to Jim Benjamin. She considered Cambridge her adopted home having moved to Dorchester County in 1961 where her husband was employed by Western Printing and Lithographing Co.
Mrs. Benjamin was a member of the Cambridge Yacht Club, the Yacht Club Shipmates, the Cambridge Country Club, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Grand National Waterfowl Association and a member of the Dorchester General Hospital Auxiliary.
An avid card player, Mrs. Benjamin was well known in bridge circles in Dorchester County. It was said that she never knew a stranger and cherished her bridge friendships as much as the challenge of the game.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Benjamin, is survived by one son, Dr. James Benjamin of College Station, Texas; one daughter, Becky Temple and her husband, David Temple of South Bend, Ind.; four grandchildren, Jamie Temple, Michael Temple, Courtney Benjamin and Kristen Benjamin; one sister, Winnie Bultelsbacher of Arden Hills, Minn.; one brother, William E. Brown of Kansas City, Kan. and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Capt. Edward Angers and two sisters, Phyllis Angers Streka and Diane Brown Malaski.
A Memorial Service will be held 4 p.m. Sunday at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge. The family will receive friends at the funeral home during the hour preceding the service. After the memorial service a celebration of her life will be held at the Cambridge Yacht Club.
Burial will take place at Old Trinity Churchyard.

Bessie L. Camper
TRAPPE - Bessie L. Camper, 90, formerly of Easton, died Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2001.
She was born Sept. 1, 1910 in Millington, the daughter of the late Benjamin Watson and Bertha Taylor Nickerson.
As a child, she moved with her family to Dorchster County where she graduated from Hurlock High School. In June 1936 she married George R. Camper and they made their home in Baltimore until moving to Easton in 1946. Mr. Camper passed away Aug. 3, 1991.
Mrs. Camper worked as a secretary for her husband, who was a credit investigator for a retail credit company until 1960 when she became the clerk for the local Selective Service Board, a position she held until retiring in the 1970s.
A resident of the Trappe area for the last two years, Mrs. Camper was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, the Ladies of the Elks, Easton Lodge 1622 and a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Mrs. Camper is survived by a daughter, Jo Ann C. Vorwald of Easton; a son, Victor W. Camper of Kissimmee, Fla.; two brothers, Lee Nickerson of Hurlock and Joe Nickerson of Secretary; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., in Easton where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Spring Hill Cemetery in Easton.

Russell Elzey
BURLINGTON, N.C. - Russell Elzey, 74, a former resident of Cambridge, died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2001 at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a short illness.
He was the son of the late Milton Elzey Sr. and Bessie Wroten Elzey.
Mr. Elzey retired in 1987 afster 32 years of law enforcement. He attended schools in Cambridge and State Teacher's College in Salisbury.
He served in the U.S. Navy Air Force from 1943 to 1946. Mr. Elzey served with the Dorchester Sheriff's Department in Cambridge and the Maryland State Police. He was also a sheriff's deputy in Broward County, Fla., and a K-9 police officer in Davie, Fla.
He attended People's Memorial Christian Church.
Mr. Elzey is survived by his wife Oma Alice Carter Elzey; four daughters, Carol Ann Suit and Linda Dickerson, both of Cambridge, Joyce Klendworth of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Bonnie Williams of Virginia; three sons, Daniel Lee Elzey of Rhodesdale, Russell Edgar Elzey of Cambridge and Michael Jay Elzey of Seaford, Del. He is also survived by three sisters, Margaret Ruark, Mary Warfield and Pat Robbins, all of Maryland; two brothers, Richard Elzey and Kenneth Elzey, both of Maryland; a stepson, Jason Edward Paul of Ohio; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Mae Thomas; four sisters and four brothers.
The cryptside service was held Feb. 13 at Alamance Memorial Park by the Rev. Max Allman. The family received friends at the Rich and Thompson Mortuary in Burlington.
Carolyn W. Greene
HEBRON - Carolyn W. Greene, 78, passed away Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001 after a lengthy illness. She had been in failing health for several years and had been a patient at the Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury for three weeks.
She was born Nov. 15, 1922 at Wingate, the daughter of the late Leonard M. and Maggie Meredith Wheatley.
Mrs. Greene had attended schools at Crapo, and also in Cambridge, having graduated from Cambridge High School in 1940.
For a number of years Mrs. Greene had worked as a secretary and office manager at Phillips Packing Co., A. W. Fisk, Old Fashioned Foods and also at Airpax in Cambridge. She had also worked with her husband at Uncle Eli's Produce at Hebron.
Mrs. Greene is survived by her husband, Eli Saleeby of Hebron; four nieces: Jeanne Ewell and her husband, Sonny Ewell of Cambridge, Lynn Wheatley and Laura Wheatley, both of Cambridge and Yvonne Yockey of East New Market; three nephews: Delmar R. Carroll Jr. of Florida, the Rev. Leonard H. Wheatley Jr. of Parsonsburg and Michael Wheatley of Cambridge.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth V. Carroll and two brothers: Leonard H. Wheatley and John L. Wheatley.
A funeral service was held 3 p.m. Saturday at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with the Rev. George W. Wheatley Jr. officiating. Burial followed at Spedden Seward Cemetery.

Duane T. Rohrer
WOOLFORD - Duane T. Rohrer, 49, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2001 at his home.
He was born Aug. 31, 1951 in Baltimore, the son of Thomas Leon and Lorraine McCoy Rohrer.
Mr. Rohrer was raised in Randallstown and was a 1969 graduate of Milford Mill High School.
For the past 15 years he has resided at Woolford. Mr. Rohrer was interested in hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Cambridge Moose Lodge and spent much time as a volunteer at the local lodge.
He is survived by two daughters, Casey Leigh Powers of Tennessee and Sabrina Rohrer of Woodbine; one grandson; his parents who reside in Abingdon and one brother, Craig Rohrer of Ellicott City. Also surviving are several aunts and uncles.
A memorial service was conducted 2 p.m. Saturday at the Cambridge Moose Lodge on Moose Lodge Road.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Association, 114 Baptist St., Salisbury, MD 21801.

Richard D. Sterling
FEDERALSBURG - Richard D. Sterling, 54, passed away Friday, Feb. 16, 2001 at his home.
He was born Dec. 31, 1946 at Chestertown, the son of Ruth M. Hagan Sterling of Preston and the late Carroll W. Sterling.
Mr. Sterling graduated from Centreville High School with the class of 1965 and joined the U.S. Army, Feb. 20, 1967. He fought in the Vietnam War. He was discharged Feb. 19, 1969.
He was employed as a facility maintenance supervisor for 16 years at Allen Foods in Cordova.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Sterling is survived by his wife, Virginia Barnes Sterling, whom he married April 21, 2000; one daughter, Heather Sterling of Preston; two stepchildren, Leonard Beauchirmen of Florida and Amber Collins of Federalsburg; two brothers, Donald Sterling of Preston and William Carroll Sterling of Madison and one stepgrandson.
A funeral service was held 2 p.m. Sunday at the Williamson Funeral Home, in Federalsburg with Father Anthony F. Greco of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Secretary, officiating. Burial will be held Tuesday at the Maryland Veterans' Cemetery at Beulah.
At the family's request there was no viewing.

CAMBRIDGE - Norma Eberspacher, 67, of Drawbridge Road, passed away Sunday, Feb. 18, 2001 at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.
