Martha M. Travers
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Martha Moore Travers passed away on Friday, April 20, 2001.
She was born in Lakesville in Dorchester on Oct. 10, 1911, the daughter of the late William James and Bertha Newcomb Moore.
She was raised by her grandparents, George Washington and Mary C. Vickers Newcomb, due to her mother's death when she was 11 months of age.
Mrs. Travers married Major Washington Travers on Sept. 20, 1925. He died Aug. 6, 1981.
She moved from Hooper Island to Cambridge, Mass. in 1950.
She is survived by five daughters and three sons - Anna Meile of Cambridge, Mass., Beatrice Turk of Port Orange, Fla., Carolyn Comfort of Tewksbury, Mass., Evelyn Mattallo of Burlington, Mass., Kathleen Hammond of Nashua, N.H., Edgar Travers of Grayslake, Ill., Eugene Travers of Cambridge, Mass., and Major Travers of Burlington, Mass. She is also survived by 34 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; two nieces and two nephews.
Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband were two sons, Raymond Travers and Earl Travers; two sisters and one brother, Mary M. Bradshaw, N. Leona Fitzhugh Willis and Ira Preston Moore.
Funeral services were held 10 a.m. May 3 at the De Bito Funeral Home in Watertown, Mass. Burial followed at the Cambridge Cemetery in Cambridge, Mass.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be forwarded in her memory to the American Lung Association, 5 Mountain Road, Burlington, Mass. 01803.
David A. Richardson
ABILENE, Texas - David A. Richardson, 42, formerly of Cambridge, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2001 at his home.
He was born at West Palm Beach, Fla., and was the son of Connie Hinchman Richardson and Kenneth P. Richardson.
Mr. Richardson has attended schools in Cambridge, having graduated from Cambridge-South Dorchester High School in 1977. He had worked as a bricklayer, welder and had also sold insurance. He later had worked for the Pfefferkorn's Coffee Co. He had been living in Abilene for the past eight years where he had been working as a maintenance man for a Senior Citizen Home.
He is survived by two sons, David P. Richardson and Gary A. Smith, both of Clyde, Texas; one daughter, Fawn Smith of Clyde, Texas; his mother, Connie E. Richardson of Tampa, Fla.; his father and stepmother, Kenneth P. and Brenda J. Richardson of Cambridge; one sister, Debrene M. Cusick of Federalsburg; one brother, Robert S. Richardson of Tampa, Fla.; one stepbrother, James L. Anderson of Cambridge; one niece; two nephews and one great-nephew.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with the Rev. Solomon Bramble officiating. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Friday during the hour preceding the service.

CAMBRIDGE - Joyce Mae Thompson-Goldsborough, 65, died Sunday, April 29, 2001 at Dorchester General Hospital.
Paul C. Trice
FEDERALSBURG - Paul Coulbourne Trice, 82, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2003 at University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore.
He was born Dec. 22, 1920 in Hurlock, the son of the late Lillie Mae Coulbourne and Milton Guy Trice.
Mr. Trice attended Hurlock Elementary and graduated from Hurlock High School, Class of 1938, University of Maryland College Park, Strayer Business School, and Johns Hopkins. Before becoming an auto dealer, he was an engineer at Bethlehem Steel in Baltimore.
He invented the sprinkling system for the battleships ambrinition rooms and which is still in use today. Mr. Trice was a automobile dealer for 34 years at Seaford, Del. and Federalsburg, representing General Motors - Chevrolet, Oldsmobile and Cadillac.
He was the founder of the first Soap Box Derby in Federalsburg. Mr. Trice along with employee, Richard Willoughby, helped to put many of the Soap Box Cars together.
Mr. Trice was a past president of the Federalsburg Lions Club. He was a member for over 50 years of the Nanticoke Masonic Lodge 172. A 50-year member of the Scottish Rite of Salisbury and Baltimore, Boumi Temple Shrine Club, he was a member of the Eastern Shore Shrine Club. Mr. Trice was a member for over 50 years of the Tall Cedars of Lebanon Evergreen Forest 49. A member since 1975 of the American Association of Retired Persons, he was a member of both the AARP of Caroline County 915 and Talbot County 1601
Mr. Trice as an associate member of the Federalsburg VFW Post 5246; a life member of University Of Maryland Alumni Association College Park; a member of the Academy of Arts in Easton, the Wicomico Council of Arts in Salisbury, and the Tidewater Performing Arts. He is was also past board member of Chevrolet, Regional; a member and host of the Federalsburg Senior Center for 26 years; and a member of the Federalsburg Historical Society.
Mr. Trice received the "Geri" Award as Maryland's Outstanding Volunteer and is in the Maryland Senior Citizens Hall Of Fame. He was a Life Time member of the Golden Age Passport and a member of the Theta Chi Fraternity; a charter member of the Caroline County Country Club, and a member of the AAA, Mid-Atlantic.
He received many awards and citations from other federal, state, and local governmental agencies.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, the former Jeanne Hallowell, whom he married, March 25, 1944; a daughter, Paulette Trice Alexandridis of Wilmington, Del.; a sister, Evelyn V. Trice of Hurlock and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Otis M. Trice and Norman L. Trice.
Funeral Services will begin, at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Williamson Funeral Home in Federalsburg, with a Masonic Memorial Service conducted by members of Nanticoke Lodge 4172 and followed by religious services conducted by the Rev. David Heistand, the Rev. Ellery Adams, and Lay Minister Herb Griffin. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Archie Palamaras Sr.
SALISBURY - Archie Palamaras Sr., 82, of Salem, died Saturday morning, May 12, 2001 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
Born on Jan. 26, 1919 in Akron, Ohio, he was the son of the late Archimet Palamaras and Georgianna Legrand Palamaras. When he was young, his family moved to McDonald, Pa., where he graduated from high school in 1940.
Immediately after high school, he served his country in the U.S. Army in World War II from June 12, 1940 to June 10, 1945. The battles and campaigns in which he served were Algeria French Morocco, Naples Foggia, North Apennines, Po Valley, Rome Arno, Sicily and Tunisia.
He was an army tank driver and French interpreter. He was awarded the American Defense Service Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal.
While he was stationed at Fort Meade, he met the former Dorothy (Dot) Insley, originally of Madison. They were married July 5, 1945.
From Pennsylvania, they moved to Cambridge, where they owned Archie & Dot's Variety Store on High Street for 17 years. Mr. Palamaras also worked for Murray's Cookies.
When Mr. Palamaras was in good health, he enjoyed fishing.
Surviving besides his wife of 55 years is a son, Archie Palamaras Jr. and his wife Diana of East New Market; a daughter, Donna Hurley and her husband T-Berry of Salem; a sister, Elaina Edgar and an uncle, Joe Legrand of McDonald, Pa.; six grandchildren, Mike Hurley, Shannon Palamaras, Shane Palamaras, Rusty Hurley, Cathy Gore, Nick Palamaras Jr. and 11 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death besides his parents were a son, Nick Edward Palamaras and a grandson, Brian Edward Hurley.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Shirley Evans will officiate.
Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Russell Hurley Jr. (T-Berry), Shannon Palamaras, Shane Palamaras, Nick Palamaras and Shannon Gore.

Norma L. Robbins
CAMBRIDGE - Norma Lorraine Robbins, 78, of Griffith Neck, died May 11, 2001 at Dorchester General Hospital in Cambridge. Born Nov. 5, 1922 in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late Roy Elisha and Hazel Tall Bramble.
Mrs. Robbins was a homemaker who attended St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cambridge.
She is survived by two sons and their wives, Chuck T. and Audrey R. Whitten of Seaford, Del. and Tonto V. and Kristine W. Hughes of Mardela Springs; one stepson, Louis P. Robbins of Griffith Neck; five grandchildren, Tracy H. Price, April H. Molchan, Morgan K. Hughes, Susan W. Thomas and Sandy W. Spedden; five great-grandchildren, Cody Baer Molchan, Jordan E. Molchan, Jamisyn P. Molchan, Paige L. Thomas and Beth L. Thomas; one sister, Kitty Gore Reid of Reid's Grove; and two nephews, Chick Gore and Jerry Gore.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis "Ted" Baer Robbins, who died on Sept. 19, 1985.
Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. today at East New Market Cemetery. Daniel Roach will officiate.
The Zeller Funeral Home in East New Market is handling arrangements.
Leonard C. Bramble
CAMBRIDGE - Leonard C. Bramble, 75, of Bishops Head, passed away Saturday, May 12, at the home of his daughter in Cambridge.
Born at Bishops Head on Feb. 10, 1926, he was the son of the late Ivy and Thetus Woodland Bramble. He was raised and attended public schools in the southern part of Dorchester County.
Mr. Bramble was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army from March 1944 until January 1946. While in the army, he served in France and Japan and was awarded the Combat Infantryman's Badge.
For all of his working life, he was a commercial, self-employed waterman. He was a member of Dorchester Post 91, American Legion.
For the past three months, Mr. Bramble resided at the home of his daughter in Cambridge.
He is survived by his wife, the former Geraldine "Jerry" Todd, whom he married on April 10, 1948; one daughter and son-in-law, Thedus A. and M. Wayne Robinson of Cambridge; one grandson, Lt. Adam D. Robinson, U.S. Navy, and his wife Christine of Jacksonville, Fla.; and one aunt, Lillie Wingate of Finksburg.
A funeral service will be conducted at the Thomas Funeral Home at 2 p.m. today. The Rev. Pardee Bramble will officiate. Burial will take place in Dorchester Memorial Park.
Palls bearers will be Donald Mills, Ralph V. Mills, Lowell Pritchett, Jay Robinson, William "Snooks" Windsor and Jeff Robinson.

Roy B. Nordike
CAMBRIDGE - Roy B. Nordike, 46, died suddenly on Saturday, May 12, 2001 at Dorchester General Hospital in Cambridge.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa Ann Nordike; four children, Richard Kenneth Nordike, Sarah Jamie-Lynn Nordike, David Joseph Nordike and Jessica Lee Ann Nordike, all of Hurlock.
Funeral arrangements, which are incomplete, are being handled by the Zeller Funeral Home in East New Market.
Ottilie C. Dayton
CAMBRIDGE - Ottilie C. Dayton, 86, passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2003 at the Dorchester General Hospital. She had been a patient at the Mallard Bay Care Center for two weeks, and was admitted to DGH on Sunday.
She was born Nov. 6, 1916 in Cambridge, and was a daughter of the late Valentine McQuay and Annie Elliott Spear.
Mrs. Dayton had attended schools in Cambridge. Some years ago she had worked at the Phillips Packing Co. in Cambridge and in later life had taken care of senior citi-zens.
She was married to Joseph Olin Harrison Jr. on Feb. 18, 1933. He passed away on Dec. 2, 1975. She was later married to Randall D. Day-ton in 1977. He passed away on July 23, 1984.
Mrs. Dayton was an out-standing cook and had en-joyed playing bingo, reading, crocheting and dancing.
Her survivors include a daughter, Catherine Abey Windsor of Cambridge; one son, Joseph Olin "Sonny" Harrison III of East New Market; seven grandchilden, Ronald Scott Harrison, Jo-seph Paul Harrison and Katy Elizabeth Harrison, all of Cambridge, Dollie Stevens of Grasonville, Kathy M. Abey of Chestertown, Josie Sim-mons of Grasonville and Chris Anderson of Queen Anne. She is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Henry Spear and Sam Spear, both of Cambridge and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her hus-bands, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Rhonda L. Harrison; five sisters, Elizabeth Willey, Rose Gray, Mabel Smith, Dolly Marie Spear and Carrie Mae Spear and five brothers, Thomas Albert Spear, Wallace Spear, Edgar Spear, William M. Spear and How-ard Spear.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. today at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with the Rev. Levin M. Spear officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery in Easton. The family will receive friends during the hour preceding the service today.

Kenneth S. Hughes
ANDERSON, S. C. - Ken-neth Sherwood Hughes, 82, formerly of Cambridge, and husband of Ruth Ann How-ard Hughes, died Saturday, May 10, 2003 at Ellenburg Nursing Home in Anderson. He had been in failing health for several years.
He was born June 5, 1920 at Elliott Island, the son of the late William Fairfield Hughes and the late Rhoda Dayton Hughes.
Mr. Hughes retired as a sales representative for Sears Roebuck, Inc. He was a United States Army veteran and a member of the Ameri-can Legion, Post 91 in Cam-bridge.
Mr. Hughes was a volunteer with the Rescue Fire De-partment in Cambridge; a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Cam-bridge and a member of the Ushers Union. He was also a member of First Assembly of God in Lake City, Fla.
In addition to his wife of 51 years, the former Ruth Ann Howard of Starr, S.C., he is survived by two children, Ellen Fleming of Starr, S.C. and Kenneth Scott Hughes of Madison; five grandchildren, Neil Fleming, Timothy Fleming and Kayla Nichols of Starr, S.C., Shelly Jones of Church Creek and Scott Hughes of Hagerstown and three great-grandchildren, Patrick Hughes, Janna Jones of Church Creek and Jerry Hughes of Cambridge.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Eva Thomas and Thelma Vickers; a brother, William Hughes and two granddaughters, Krista and Dana Fleming.
Memorial services will be held 6 p.m. today in the chapel of the McDougald Fu-neral Home with the Rev. Phillip Stout officiating.

Evelyn R. Webster
CAMBRIDGE - Evelyn R. Webster, 94, passed away on Monday afternoon, May 12, 2003 at the Mallard Bay Care Center. She was the wife of the late S. Earl Webster.

Sarah N. Asmussen
CAMBRIDGE - Sarah Nabb Asmussen, 84, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2001 at the Mallard Bay Care Center after a lengthy illness.
She was born April 24, 1917 in Cambridge and was the daughter of the late George R. and Hattie Johnson Nabb Sr.
Mrs. Asmussen had attended schools in Cambridge, having graduated from Cambridge High School in 1934. On June 24, 1964 she was married to Herbert C. Asmussen. They had made their home in Trappe for a number of years. Mrs. Asmussen passed away on June 15, 1977.
Some years ago she had worked for J. C. Penney Co. and later had worked for Choptank Electric Cooperative for over 30 years.
Mrs. Asmussen was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church and for many years had been active in the United Methodist Women. She had been in failing health for the past three years and had been a patient at the Mallard Bay Care Center since March 9.
Mrs. Asmussen is survived by a sister, Frances N. Wilson of Cambridge and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Emily A. Dayton and two brothers, John J. Nabb and George B. Nabb Jr.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with the Rev. Shirley A. Evans officiating. Burial will follow at the Hole in the Wall Cemetery near Trappe. Friends will be received Saturday during the hour preceding the service.
