Eldridge G. Corbman
CHOCOWINITY, N.C. - Eldridge G. "Tink"Corbman, 62, passed away suddenly Tuesday, May 8, 2001.
He was born Jan. 6, 1939 in Cambridge, the son of the late Alfred Gordon and Mildred Aaron Corbman.
Mr. Corbman was a 1958 graduate of Cambridge High School and upon graduation enlisted in the U.S. Navy and remained on active duty until May of 1963. While in the Navy he served in Radio Intelligence.
In 1963 Mr. Corbman joined E. S. Hubbert & Son, Inc. and became a vice president in the business. In 1975 he moved to Sanford, N.C. ans was associated with Gallup True Value Hardware and in 1977 joined the Sanford Brick Co. as a sales representative. Since 1982 he had represented several companies in various sales capacities including Jeffreys Cabinet Co., Everpure Inc., Manitowoc Equipment Works and Scotsman. Mr. Corbman had just retired last month.
Mr. Corbman was an avid recreational boater, a former member of the Cambridge Yacht Club and enjoyed outdoor sports and activities.
He is survived by his wife, Edith, whom he married in May of 1998; two daughters, Kimberly B. Corbman of Georgetown, Del., and Lynn C. Scott of Cambridge; one son, Gordon A. Corbman of Cambridge; four grandchildren - Meghan B. Rippons, Logan W. Rippons, Brandon M. Corbman and Caleb J. Scott; two sisters, Peggy Parker and Barbara Anderson and one brother, John I. Corbman of Norfolk, Va. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews,.
A funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. today at the Thomas Funeral Home by the Rev. David Stewart. Burial will take place at the Maryland Veterans' Cemetery at Beulah. There will be no viewing.
Memorials may be made to the Chocowinity EMS, P.O. Box 574, Chocowinity, N.C. 27817.
Active pallbearers will be Jim Lantz, Ladd Johnson, Harold Byrd, Bob Dudley, Corey Hubbert and Matt Cox. Honorary bearers will be Gene Horne, David Orem, George B. Nabb III, Pat Fitzgerald, Philip Brohawn and Jim Balderson.
Robert S. Seguin
MADISON - Robert S. Seguin, 25, passed away early Wednesday morning, May 9, 2001 at the Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury as a result of injuries received in an auto accident late Tuesday night.
He was born Aug. 19, 1975 in Lancaster County, Pa. Since the age of 6 he had resided in Dorchester County, where he was raised and attended public schools.
Mr. Seguin was employed by Global Builders and was currently doing roofing work at the Hyatt project in Cambridge. He was a member of the Countryside Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa Kowarsch; his mother and stepfather, Rachel Groff Abbott and Michael W. Abbott of Madison; three stepchildren, David Tyler, Hobart Tyler and Christi Tyler; three brothers, Michael W. Abbott Jr., Rachel R. Abbott and Walter O. Abbott and one sister, Elizabeth James, all of Cambridge.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Dorchester Memorial Park with Brother Harvey Cheezum officiating. There will be no viewing.
Arrangements are being handled by the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
Rose W. Perry
BELLEVUE, Neb. - Rose Whittington Perry, 67, died Friday, May 4, 2001.
She was born March 1, 1934 in Dorchester County, daughter of the late Jeanette Bryan and Henry Whittington.
She was educated in the Dorchester County public schools and was a graduate of F. D. St. Clair High School, class of 1951.
Mrs. Perry was a homemaker and loved her job and family.
She became a Christian at an early age and attended and supported Mt. Calvery Baptist Church. She was president of the Senior Choir and church secretary at Union Chapel Church in Cordtown. Mrs. Perry was one of the original four-member group that started the Sunrise Singers.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Nathaniel Perry; three children - Andre Perry, Adrian Perry (Rosie Perry) and Portia Perry, all of Bellevue, Neb.; four brothers and their wives - William Chester (Margaret) of New York, Robert Chester (Merlyn) of Bear, Del., Gary Bryan (Sharon) of Grasonville and Michael Bryan (Cheryl) of Omaha, Neb.; three sisters and their husbands - Debra Watkins (Donald) of Olney, Dora Cephas (Marion) of South Carolina and Dorothy Bryan of Cambridge; a sister-in-law, Cynthia Davis; six grandchildren - Tyesha Perry, Jalis Perry, Vincent and Shania Shuyler, Jordan and TaVonte Perry; four aunts - Reba Jones of Columbia, Arvell Chester of Philadelphia, Pa., Frances Brown and Bertina Cornish, both of Cambridge and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Shulyer.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at the Union Chapel AME Church at Cordtown with the Rev. Vivian Castain officiating. Burial will follow at the Cordtown Cemetery.
There will be a viewing and friends will be received 6-7:30 p.m. Friday at the Henry Funeral Home in Cambridge.
Theodore R. Coleman
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Theodore Roosevelt Coleman, died Monday, May 7, 2001 at the Veterans' Hospital. He was a native of Cambridge.
Mr. Coleman's immediate survivors include two sisters, Dorothy Gaylor of Cambridge and Evelyn Combs of Baltimore and a niece, Ruby Woolford of Cambridge.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time and are being handled by the Henry Funeral Home in Cambridge.
Emma Jean Bramble
LINKWOOD - Emma Jean Bramble died Tuesday, May 8, 2001 at her home.
She was born March 8, 1929 and was raised in Dorchester County, the daughter of the late Scott and Lillie Adkins Willey of Decoursey Bridge Road.
Mrs. Bramble graduated from Vienna High School in 1946 and worked as a dental assistant from 1946 until she retired in 1998. She was employed by Drs. James C. Johnson (deceased), James Schiff, Anthony Calabro and John Sloan.
She is survived by her husband, Walter Crumling; one daughter, Rhonda Gray Robinson and her husband, LeRoy of East New Market; two sons, Solomon Bramble III and his wife, Julie of Woolford and Laird Scott Bramble of Cambridge. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Kelly and Krystal Robinson, Emmaleigh and Jeremiah Bramble, Brandy Sard, Matthew and Mariah Bramble, Marissa Bramble, Zachary Bramble and Alexander Bramble. Mrs. Bramble is also survived by one sister, Mary W. Todd of Cambridge; one brother, Scott Willey Jr. of Decoursey Bridge Road and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and two brothers.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, 501 Glenburn Ave., Cambridge. The family will receive visitation one hour prior to the service.

Katherine E. Bradley
CHARLESTON, N.C. - Katherine E. "Betty" Bradley, 86, formerly of Vienna, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2001 at the home of her nephew and his wife, Robert and Edna Kane in Charleston.
She was born Aug. 2, 1914 in Baltimore, daughter of the late Charles and Katherine E. Eages.
Mrs. Bradley and her late husband managed Hafflinger's Restaurant in Baltimore and at the same time owned and operated Bradley's Deli on York Road in Baltimore. They later owned and operated the Ridgeway Inn in Catsonville.
In the mid 1970s the Bradleys moved to Dorchester County where they owned and operated the Highway Inn in Linkwood until 1986. Mrs. Bradley moved to Charleston six years ago.
Mrs. Bradley is survived by one niece and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Lee "Brad" Bradley who died Dec. 24, 1986.
Services will be private.
The Zeller Funeral Home in East New Market is handling the arrangements.
Sarah N. Asmussen
CAMBRIDGE - Sarah N. Asmussen, 84, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2001 at the Mallard Bay Care Center after a lengthy illness.
She was the wife of the late Herbert C. Asmussen.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with the Rev. Shirley A. Evans officiating. Burial will follow at the Hole in the Wall Cemetery near Trappe.
The family will receive friends on Saturday during the hour preceding the service.

YORBA LINDA, Calif. - Dorothy Kennedy Terry, 93, a former resident of Dorchester County, passed away April 27, 2001.
She was born Oct. 12, 1907and grew up in the Hurlock area.
Theresa M. Richardson
MIDDLETOWN, Del. - Theresa M. Richardson, 51, passed away Monday, May 7, 2001 in the Christiana Hospital.
Mrs. Richardson was a seventh and eighth grade teacher at St. Anthony's in Wilmington, Del. She sponsored the S.T.A.R. Reading Program and was a graduate of Salisbury State College.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Middletown.
She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Robert A. Richardson Jr.; one daughter, Mary Catherine Richardson of White Marsh; one son, Stephen Phillip Richardson, a senior at the University of Delaware in Newark; her mother, Emily Robbins of Cambridge; two brothers, Phillip L. Robbins III of Salisbury and Mark A. Robbins of Cambridge.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 8 p.m. Thursday in Price Hall, St. Joseph's Complex, Cleaver Farm Road off Rt. 299 in Middletown. Friends may call one hour before the Mass. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the MOT Relay for Life, c/o the American Cancer Society.

INGLESIDE - Services will be held privately for Medford Lee Kimble Sr., 67, formerly of Cambridge who died Wednesday, May 2, 2001 at Kent and Queen Annes Hospital in Chestertown.
In addition to his survivors is a granddaughter, Danielle Nichole Peddicord of Cambridge.
Virginia B. Nichols
HURLOCK - Virginia Boston Nichols, 86, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2003 at the Caroline Nursing Home in Denton.
She was born June 3, 1916 in East New Market, the daughter of the late Frank A. and Flossie Pitts Bell Boston.
She attended Western Maryland College in Westminster. Mrs. Nichols worked with her husband, Paul W. Nichols in his construction business until he passed away May 22, 1984. Later she was a teacher's aide at Vienna Elementary School.
Mrs. Nichols was a member of Unity Washington United Methodist Church in Hurlock was a member of the Hurlock Woman's Club.
She is survived by three sons, William "Bill" P. and Ronald Alan Nichols, both of Hurlock and David K. Nichols of Glen Ridge, N.J. She is also survived by seven grandchilden and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon Saturday at the Williamson Funeral Home in Federalsburg with the Rev. Ruth Tull of Unity Washington UM Church officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home during the hour preceding the service. Burial will take place at Unity Washington Cemetery, Hurlock.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Unity Washington United Methodist Church, P.O. Bo x 298, Hurlock, MD 21643.
Theodore R. Coleman
WASHINGTON, D. C. - Theodore Roosevelt Coleman died Monday, May 7, 2001 at the Veterans' Hospital.
He was born Oct. 13, 1932 in Cambridge the son of the late Roosevelt and Pearl Hawkins-Coleman.
Mr. Coleman graduated from F. D. St. Clair High School in 1949. While living in Cambridge, he performed in Elementary and High School Glee Clubs, was a member of the Boy Scouts and the Drum & Bugle Corps. He also sang in the choir at Bethel AME Church.
He graduated from the University of the District of Columbia (UDC) in Washington, D.C., majoring in social welfare and rehabilitation (public administration). Mr. Coleman also attended Howard University (Washington) majoring in alcoholic studies and Washington School of Psychiatry, majoring in resident manager and day care treatment.
He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1951 and was discharged in 1955. While in the service Mr. Coleman was a personnel specialist and did serve in Korea for one year.
While residing in Washington, since 1955 he became a member of Turner AME Church and was a member of the Men's Choir and the Second Choir. He was also a member of the Social Workers of America.
Mr. Coleman was forced to retire for health reasons, and was working for the Veterans' Administration in Washington, D.C.
He survivors include one son, Kenneth O'Neil; two sisters, Dorothy Gaylor of Cambridge and Evelyn Combs of Baltimore; a niece, Ruby Woolford of Cambridge and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by two special friends, Carl Powell and Mickey who use to take care of him.
A funeral service will be held noon Wednesday at Bethel AME Church in Cambridge. Burial will follow at the Eastern Shore Veterans' Cemetery at Beulah.
There will be a viewing one hour prior to the service Wednesday.
