Rose M. Molock
BLACKWATER - Rose Mary Molock, 89, of Blackwater Road died Thursday, May 24, 2001, at the home of her daughter, Dorrine Taylor, in Baltimore.
Born Jan. 3, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Tony and Lula Pritchett and wife of the late Alvin Molock. She was educated in the Dorchester County school system.
She was baptized as a Jehovah's Witness in 1979. She was a devoted believer and follower who practiced her teachings, showed her love and witnessed to her family and friends and those she touched in her life. She was a devoted and loving daughter, wife, mother and sister, who was very active in the teachings and moral and emotional welfare of her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Dorrine Taylor of Baltimore; two sons, Fleming Molock of McDaniel and Leander Molock of Cambridge; two sons-in-law, Addision Johnson of Cambridge and Earl Taylor of Baltimore; a daughter-in-law, Helen Molock of Cambridge; a sister, Leona Spicer of Liners Road; 21 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Monenia Johnson of Cambridge.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Cambridge. Burial will follow at the Linas Road Cemetery.
There will be a viewing 7 to 8 tonight at the Henry Funeral Home.

WINGATE - Services were held May 24 for L. O'Neill Jones, 85, who passed away at his home Tuesday, May 22, 2001. In addition to the survivors were a niece, Kimberly Thomas of Hurlock and a nephews, Al Perry Jr. of Harmony.

Oscar W. Nelson Jr.
NANTICOKE - Oscar W. Nelson Jr., 78, passed away at the Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury on Tuesday morning, May 29, 2001.
He was born at Hoopersville on Sept. 20, 1922, the son of the late Oscar Whittington and Violet White Nelson. He was raised at Hoopersville, attending public schools there and graduating from Cambridge High School in 1939. After attending Strayer Business College he became active in the family seafood business, White & Nelson, with plants in Hoopersville, Fishing Creek and Crapo and as a young man managed the plant at Crapo.
Mr. Nelson was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy from October of 1943 until January of 1946. During this time he served on PT Boats in the Mediterranean and the South Pacific. When he came out of the service he was at the Cambridge plant as White & Nelson grew to become the largest packer of crabmeat in the country and produced over 2,500 gallons of oysters a day. After the death of his father in 1953 he formed O. W. Nelson, Inc. at Hoopersville, packing crabmeat and oysters until selling the business in 1962. At that time he joined H. B. Kennerly & Son at Nanticoke, where they established Crest Seafood Corp. to package frozen oyster stew, breaded oysters and clam strips. With the sale of this business to Booth Fisheries, and ultimately Sara Lee, he managed the fresh oyster business, growing this operation to the number one spot in the country until his retirement in 1988.
Mr. Nelson was a man of strong family ties and a leader in the community. He had been a friend to the watermen, actively working to strengthen the Chesapeake Bay Fisheries, the hundreds of people he worked with over the years, and the communities in which he lived through his activities in church and civic organizations. He was active in the seafood industry organizations having served as a trustee for the Mid Atlantic Fisheries Development Foundation, and as a director and past president of the Chesapeake Bay Seafood Industries Association. For 29 years he was a member of the West Side Lions Club and was a past president and a Melvin Jones Fellow. Through the Lions he participated in community service including the Seafood Salute and Christmas Basket Program.
Mr. Nelson was a member of the Nanticoke United Methodist Church and served on the Administrative Board and chaired the Finance Committee of the West Side Charge. He was also a member of Dorchester Post 91, American Legion, Salisbury Post 194, VFW and an honorary member of Rescue Fire Company.
He is survived by his wife, the former Edna Giordano, to whom he was married in July of 1966; two daughters and sons-in-law, Diane N. and Bill Twilley of East New Market and Page and Curt Bunting of Salisbury; two sons and daughters-in-law, O. Allen and Brenda Nelson of Cambridge and Dean and Linda Hopkins of Tyaskin; five grandchildren - Chris Hopkins, Sheri Aybar, Lisa Kumpar, Bridget Adshead and Devin Bunting; one brother, Edmund A. Nelson of Timonium and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Nelson was preceded in death by a sister, Leila Adams and a brother, Clyde E. Nelson.
A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday at the Thomas Funeral Home by the Rev. Linda M. Mariner. Burial will take place in Dorchester Memorial Park.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 tonight at the Nanticoke UM Church in Nanticoke and at the funeral home on Friday during the hour preceding the service.

Edith M. Hubbard
CAMBRIDGE - Edith May Hubbard, 91, of the Neck District, died late Tuesday night, May 29, 2001 at Chesapeake Woods Center.
She was born on May 18, 1910 at Hills Point, the daughter of the late Samuel Edward Marshall and Charlotte Messick Marshall.
On March 22, 1930 she married James Hamilton Hubbard Jr. Mr. Hubbard passed away on Dec. 3, 1986.
Mrs. Hubbard was a member of Spedden United Methodist Church and was treasurer of the Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Neck District Homemakers, president of Cambridge Chapter of AARP, a national member of AARP and member of the Rebekah Lodge where she had held officership. Mrs. Hubbard was also a local Avon representative for many years.
She is survived by two daughters, Jeanette Condon and Charlotte Wheatley and her husband, Gordon, all of Cambridge; nine grandchildren - Rickey Wheatley, David Wheatley, Mike Wheatley, Barbara Wheatley, Chris Condon, Bill Condon, Amy Redmond, Robin Willey and Tony Hubbard; 17 great-grandchildren; a special niece to whom Mrs. Hubbard considered like a daughter, Marie Gray and her husband, Phil of Cambridge and remaining nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death besides her parents and spouse was a son, Glenn Hubbard; daughter-in-law, Joyce Mills Hubbard; granddaughter, Terri Hubbard; a sister, Essie Barnes; and two brothers, Edwin Marshall and Russell Marshall.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Gloria S. Attix officiating. Burial will follow at Spedden-Seward Cemetery, Hills Point.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Rickey, David and Michael Wheatley, Chris and Bill Condon, Guy Willey Jr. and Bill Redmond.

Patricia Gray
CAMBRIDGE - Patricia Gray died Wednesday, May 30, 2001 at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C.
She was the mother of Anike Ajagunna and was a retired Dorchester educator.

SALISBURY -Lynvall M. Benner, 65, formerly of Cambridge, passed away at his home on Wednesday, May 30, 2001.
He was the husband of Ellen Weber Johnstone.

G. Winfield Bell
VIENNA - G. Winfield (Winnie) Bell, 83, died Wednesday morning, May 16, 2001 at the Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
He was born April 6, 1918 at Reid's Grove, near Vienna, the son of the late Joseph E. Bell and Lena Murphy Bell.
On Aug. 18, 1938 he married the former Frances Lawson of Griffith's Neck.
Mr. Bell served his country in World War II, where he was a U.S. Army veteran and toured in the Pacific Theatre.
For 10 years he owned and operated Winnie Bell's Grocery Store in Vienna. For most of his working life he was employed by the Dorchester County Roads Board as a supervisor, retiring in 1981.
Mr. Bell was a member of the Vienna United Methodist Church, where he was an usher for many years. He was also an avid gardener.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Wende B. Abbott of Owings Mills; two grandchildren, Brent and Amy Abbott and a brother, Charles A. Bell of Vienna.
Preceding him in death besides his parents, was a sister, Mary Wilson and three brothers, Roy Bell, Lloyd Bell and Emerson Bell.
The family received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. today at the Vienna United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mary Ann Farnell and the Rev. William Humphreys officiating. Burial will follow in Dorchester Memorial Park.

CAMBRIDGE - Elizabeth Hattie Woolford, 64, died Monday, May 14, 2001 at Dorchester General Hospital.
She was born July 1, 1936 in Cambridge, daughter of the late Leon Ward and Emma Jane Cooper-Johnson.
Mrs. Watford attended Dorchester County public schools. She was a member of the Soul Outreach Christian Center.
She was employed at Coldwater Seafood and retired after 30 years of service.
Mrs. Watford is survived by two daughters, Katie Askins and Deborah Cephas, both of Cambridge; one son, Raymond Cooper of Cambridge; four sisters - Betty Camper of East New Market, Delores Sharp of Cambridge and Jessie Cooper and Irene Beasley, both of Easton; six grandsons - Antwine Thompson, Dontre Cephas, Terrell Cephas, Devonta Watford, Freddie Watford, all of Cambridge and Troy Smith of Federalsburg; two granddaughters, Yasmine Sharp and Lakendra Campbell. She is also survived by two brothers, Louis Cooper and Charles Cooper, both of Cambridge; a son-in-law, Leon Askins of Cambridge; five brothers-in-law, Clifford Camper of East New Market, Cicero Beasley of Easton, Alexander Sharp, James (Bobbie) Greene and Bishop James Greene, all of Cambridge; five sisters-in-law, Helen Molock, Katie Greene, Elizabeth Woolford, Thelma Greene, Elois Cooper, all of Cambridge; an aunt, Jessie Johnson of Baltimore; nine great-grandchildren; a special friend, Brenda Richardson and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mrs. Watford was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Watford; a sister, Beulah Cooper and three brothers, Edward Cooper, Leroy Johnson and Goerge Cooper.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Bethel AME Church with Bishop James Greene officiating. Burial will follow at the Bethel Cemetery.

Richard P. Hilder
ANNAPOLIS - Richard Philip Hilder, 86, formerly of Cambridge, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2003 at the Anne Arundel Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 20, 1916 in Glencarlyn (Arlington), Va., the son of the late Stuart C. and Berenice Ogden Hilder.
Mr. Hilder graduated from McKinley Technical High School, Washington, D.C. in 1935 and the University of Virginia in 1939.
On Dec. 27, 1940 he married the former Elizabeth S. Nance. She passed away April 10, 1993.
He served with the United States Army during World War II from 1942 to 1946. Mr. Hilder saw combat service in Europe with the 78th Infantry Division and was awarded the Bronze Star. He was honorably discharged in 1946 with the rank of Captain.
Mr. Hilder lived in Cambridge from 1952 to 2002. He was a project estimator for Paul Day & Co. and Allen Tyler and Son. His memberships include Cambridge Country Club, U.S. Power Squadron and Cambridge Yacht Club, where he was Commodore from 1964-65.
He has resided at the Annapolitan Assisted Living Center in Annapolis since September of 2002.
Mr. Hilder is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Massell of Sebastopol, Calif. and Margaret Anchill of Union City, Mich.; one son, David Hilder of Arnold; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. June 10 at the Arlington Columbarium, Arlington, Va. Burial will follow in Arlington National Cemetery. Family and friends may meet at the Administration Building at 9:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to one's favorite charity.

Ruth E. Marshall
CAMBRIDGE - Ruth E. Marshall, 88, passed away on Wednesday night, May 14, 2003 at the Mallard Bay Care Center in Cambridge. She was the wife of the late W. Ralph Marshall.
Among her survivors are two daughters, Clara Mae Stephens of Beach Haven and Diane Reuter of Clinton and two grandchildren, Cheryl Adams of East New Market and Glenn J. Stephens of Trappe.

NEW CASTLE, Del . - Carlena Taylor, 49, passed away Monday, May 12, 2003 in Christiana Care of Wilmington Hospital in Wilmington, Del.
She was born Sept. 5, 1953.

Ruth E. Marshall
CAMBRIDGE - Ruth E. Marshall, 88, of Cambridge, passed away at the Mallard Bay Care Center on Wednesday night, May 14, 2003. She was the wife of the late W. Ralph Marshall.
She was born in Dorchester County on March 12, 1915, the daughter of the late Charles E. and Nervenia Parks Dayton. She was raised and attended public schools in Dorchester County.
On Jan. 16, 1934 she was married to Mr. Marshall and some years ago worked in the sewing department at Leggett Department Store. Mr. Marshall, who was employed at the A&P store in Cambridge passed away on March 10, 1975. Mrs. Marshall was active in the Dorchester Unit, American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by two daughters and sons in law, Clara Mae and Bill Stephens of Beach Haven, and Diane M. and John Reuter of Clinton; one granddaughter, Cheryl Adams and her husband Mike of East New Market; one grandson, Glenn J. Stephens and his wife Tina of Trappe; one great-granddaughter, Rebecca Adams; one brother, Robert Dayton and his wife Doris of Rehoboth Beach, Del.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Pauline Bradford; and five brothers, Herbert Dayton, Charles Dayton, Oscar Dayton, Edwin Dayton, and Earl Dayton.
A graveside service will be conducted at Dorchester Memorial Park on Tuesday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. George W. Wheatley Jr. There will be no calling hours. Memorials may be made to either the Heart Fund, c/o Lorraine Dickerson, 10 Harris Drive, Cambridge, MD 21613 or your favorite charity.
