CAMBRIDGE - Paul David Brisco, 75, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001 at Dorchester General Hospital.
He was also survived by his wife of 48 years, Virginia Brisco and a stepdaughter, Jeannie Stevenson of Dover, Del.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at the Pentecostal Temple Church, Aireys Road, with the Rev. Samuel Brisco officiating. Burial will follow at the Meekins Neck Cemetery at Golden Hill.
There will be a viewing from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Henry Funeral Home and from 12:30-1 p.m. at the church on Saturday.
Shirley E. S. Dorsey
CAMBRIDGE - Shirley Elizabeth Stanley Dorsey, 61, passed away Monday, Nov. 26, 2001 at the Dorchester General Hospital.
She was born June 4, 1940 in Salem, daughter of Marian Pritchett and the late Emerson Sampson.
Mrs. Dorsey was educated in the Dorchester County Public Schools. Before her health failed, she was employed at Bumble Bee Tuna and at Dorchester General Hospital as a certified nursing assistant for several years.
She was a faithful member of The Refuge Temple Church of God, formerly The Center Street Church of God, for 18 years. She served on the Usher Board, Pastor Aide Committee and sang on The Refuge Temple Church of God Choir and The Sanctuary Choir.
Mrs. Dorsey is survived by seven children: Charles Walker (Debbie), Gregory Walker (special friend Shirley Anderson) of New Brunswick, N.J., Sherry Thomas (Lorenzo) of East New Market, Carolyn Youmens, Ronnie Youmens (Ida), Ivy Ennels (Harriett) and Marla Ennels (fiancee Benito Camper) all of Cambridge; 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by five sisters: Glendola Pritchett, Irene Stanley (Travers), Virginia Camper (Allen "Pete") of Cambridge, Agnes Wilson (Edward) and Ruth Cornish of Washington, D.C.; two brothers: Freddie Jones of Hawkeye and Thornton Parker of Seaford, Del.; one sister-in-law, Madie Stanley of Salisbury; a very special friend, Estelle Johnson and a number of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry Pritchett and Russell Stanley and one child who died in infancy.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at The Refuge Temple Church of God in Cambridge. The Going Home Service will be held 1 p.m. Sunday with Pastor Cynthia Stanton officiating.

Carl W. Perry
CAMBRIDGE -- Carl W. Perry, 70, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001 at his home.
He was born Oct. 21, 1931 in Bridgewater, Va., the son of the late Robert Hensel and Corabelle Shifflett Perry.
Mr. Perry had attended schools in Bridgewater, where he graduated from high school in 1950. He had also received his degree from the University of Maryland. He had served in the U.S. Marine Corps from Jan. 17, 1951 until May 29, 1952.
For a number of years Mr. Perry had worked as a machinist. He had lived in Cambridge for the past 18 years. He had taught auto mechanics at the Vo Tech Center at Cambridge-South Dorchester High School until he retired several years ago. Mr. Perry was a member of the Retired Teachers Association.
He is survived by two sons, Dennis W. Perry of Midlothian, Va. and Allen G. Perry of Dayton, Va.; one sister, Geneva Carr of Dayton, Va.; a special cousin, Billie Shuey of Staunton, Va. and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters.
A funeral service will be held noon Tuesday at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with the Rev. Dale L. Vroman officiating. Burial will follow at the Maryland Veterans' Cemetery at Crownsville. The family will receive friends during the hour preceding the service on Tuesday afternoon.
Sally J. Loeffler
RHODESDALE - Sally Joyce Loeffler, 65, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001 at her residence.
She was born Oct. 22, 1936 in Pennsylvania. She was raised in Troy, Pa. by her great-grandparents.
Mrs. Loeffler was a self-employed health care provider. She attended Souls Harbor Church of God in Cambridge.
She is survived by her husband, Carl A. Loeffler of Rhodesdale; two daughters, Katherine Loeffler of Vienna and Tina Robbins and her husband, Jeff of Rhodesdale; a stepson, Carl F. Loeffler of Vienna; four grandchildren, Chad Loeffler, Charles Loeffler, Wayne Robbins and Jennifer Loeffler; three great-grandchildren; four brothers, Charles Brown of Canton, Pa., Bernie Brown, Bobby Brown and Ronnie Brown all of Fort Myers, Fla.; one sister, Rose Sullivan of Cambridge and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, Norman K. Bruce and one brother, Wayne Brown.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Souls Harbor Church of God in Cambridge with the Rev. J. Edward King officiating.

Mary M. T. Kennedy
FISHING CREEK - Mary Mead Travers Kennedy, 79, died Saturday night, Dec. 8, 2001 at Chesapeake Woods Center in Cambridge.
She was the wife of the late Donohue "Shorty" Kennedy.
Surviving is her great-nephew whom she raised, Alan Travers of Fishing Creek.
Services are incomplete at this time and are being handled by Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A.
Louis E. Mills
LINKWOOD - Louis E. Mills, 85, died suddenly Friday, Dec. 7, 2001 at Dorchester General Hospital in Cambridge.
He was born June 3, 1916 in Cambridge, the son of the late Willie C. Mills and Beryl Horseman Mills.
On Aug. 23, 1941 he married the former Lillian Cannon of Easton.
Mr. Mills served during World War II in the Air Corps from 1941 to 1946 and was honorably discharged.
Since 1947 he had made his home in Linkwood.
In his earlier years, he worked at Woolworths. Later he worked at the Eastern Shore Hospital Center, where he was an LPN supervisor retiring in 1976.
Mr. Mills' hobby was wood carving boats and decoys. He also enjoyed his garden, fishing and crabbing.
Surviving besides his wife of 60 years of Linkwood is a daughter Lois Schneider of Salisbury; a grandson, Gregory Johnson and his wife, Joanne of Salisbury; a great-granddaughter, Rachel Johnson; a great-grandson, Ryan Johnson; three brothers, Melvin and Charles Mills of Cambridge and Ralph Mills of Hollywood, Md. and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death besides his parents was a brother, William Mills.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Officiating will be the Rev. Pardee Bramble. Entombment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be George Nabb, Carlton Nabb, Ray Coates, Wayne Johnson, Greg Johnson, John Hallowell III and Smitty Rue.
Betty J. Skalstad
CAMBRIDGE - Betty June Skalstad (nee Willey), 67, of The Neck District, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2001 at Dorchester General Hospital.
She was born Sept. 1, 1934 at Hooper Island, the daughter of the late George Willey Sr. and Pearl Travers Willey.
Mrs. Skalstad was raised in Baltimore. On April 8, 1950 she married John E. Skalstad Sr. of Baltimore.
The Skalstad's owned Chub's Pub at The Inner Harbor in Baltimore. After they sold the pub, they moved to Cambridge in 1979. Mrs. Skalstad and her sister, May Louden, owned Whitey's Restaurant on Race Street in Cambridge. She and her sister had also managed the kitchen for a number of years at the Cambridge Country Club.
Besides her obvious passion for cooking, she enjoyed collecting crystal. Mrs. Skalstad was also a member of the Blue Belle's Social Club in Baltimore.
Surviving besides her husband of 51 years are two sons, Robert E. Skalstad of Orlando, Fla., John E. Skalstad Jr. of Pasadena; a sister, May Louden of Ayelet, N.C.; three grandchildren, Kirsten Skalstad Jennette, Erik Skalstad, Heather Skalstad; two stepgrandchildren, Tammy Ray and Mitchell Skalstad; two great-grandchildren, Robbie Jennette and Rene Jennette and her extended family in Oslo, Norway.
Preceding her in death besides her parents was a sister, Helen Taylor and a brother, George Willey Jr.
Mrs. Skalstad was cremated and a memorial service will be held privately.

H. Monroe Mills Jr.
PALM BEACH, Fla. - H. Monroe "Kandy" Mills Jr., 66, passed away at Hospice of Palm Peach County, on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001. He had been in failing health since August.
He was born June 14, 1935 in Cambridge, the son of Anna Todd Mills and the late Herman Monroe Mills.
Mr. Mills graduated from Cambridge High School in 1953 and in March of 1954 joined the U.S. Navy. While in the Navy he served as a Medical Corpsman and was on active duty for four years. He was honorably discharged in March of 1962.
Mr. Mills worked as an automotive parts manager and later as manager of the Cambridge Shipyard of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. He retired in 1995 after 19 years in this position. For the past four years he had resided in Florida.
He was a member of the American Legion and the Fleet Reserve.
Mr. Mills is survived by his wife, the former Joyce A. Taylor, to whom he was married on Feb. 2, 1973; one son, Steve M. Mills of Cambridge; two daughters, Deborah A. Hartness of Easton and Pamela S. Maddox of Virginia Beach, Va.; two grandsons; his mother, who resides in Cambridge and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by a brother, F. Paul Mills.
A funeral service will be conducted today at 1 p.m. at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge by the Rev. Conrad Cohen. Burial will take place in the Maryland Veterans' Cemetery at Beulah.
Friends will be received by the family at the funeral home during the hour before the service.

Vernon J. Herd
TRAPPE - Vernon J. Herd, 91, passed away early Sunday morning, Dec. 9, 2001 at the Chesapeake Woods Center in Cambridge where he had resided for the past 15 months.
He was born Sept. 8, 1910 in Baltimore, the son of the late Frederick and Louise Bliler Herd.
Mr. Herd was raised and attended public schools in Baltimore and in the Neck District of Dorchester County.
As a young man he served in the Maryland National Guard and on Aug. 29, 1934 was married to the former Annabelle Phillips. Mr. Herd was engaged in farming for all of his working life and in 1939 Mr. and Mrs. Herd moved to Trappe. For many years Mr. Herd managed the Martin Point Farm near Trappe until his retirement in 1972. Mrs. Herd passed away on March 17, 1999.
Mr. Herd had been an honorary member of the Trappe Volunteer Fire Company.
He is survived by one daughter, Joanne T. Thume of Trappe; one son, William V. Herd of Chestertown; four grandchildren, Christine T. Hubbard, Michael C. Thume, Jeffrey W. Herd and Suzanne Owens; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and eight brothers.
A graveside service will be conducted at the East New Market Cemetery at 1 p.m. Tuesday by the Rev. Ruth Ann Simpson. There will be no calling hours.

Mary E. Carr
FAIRMONT, W. Va. - Mary E. Carr, 88, passed away Friday, Dec. 7, 2001 at the Fairmont General Hospital.
She was born March 23, 1913 in Wetzel County, W.Va., the daughter of the late John William and Margaret Ellen Morris LeMasters.
Mrs. Carr is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Harry L. Carr and Marilyn Carr of Detroit, Mich. and Harold E. Carr Jr. and Marilyn R. Carr of Cambridge; one daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn S. McLeary and Thomas McLeary of Fairmont, W. Va.; seven grandchildren, Christal Stanbrough, Janet C. Thomas, Kenneth Carr, Jennifer Wallman, Tammy Vasco, Ronald Carr and Robin Carr. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren; two brothers, John LeMasters of Hundred, W. Va. and Charles LeMasters of Port St. Lucie, Fla.
Mrs. Carr was preceded in death by her husband, Harold E. Carr Sr. in 1990; one son, Ronald L. Carr; two sisters, Edith Cain and Ida Aiken; one brother, Roy LeMasters and a great-grandson, Harold Kenneth Thomas.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. today at the Ford Funeral Home, RC Jones Chapel in Fairmont with the Rev. Gene Lassiter officiating. Burial will follow at the Rest Haven Cemetery in Fairmont.
The family received friends on Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m.
Henry C. Foerster
CAMBRIDGE - Henry C. Foerster, 76, passed away early Monday morning, Dec. 10, 2001 at Dorchester General Hospital. He was the husband of the former Grace Dailey.
A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Burial will take place in Lake View Memorial Park on Liberty Road near Baltimore.
Friends will be received at the Thomas Funeral Home from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Margarett T. Penney
FELTON, Del. - Margarett (Peggy) T. Penney, 82, formerly of Washington, D.C. and Cambridge, Md., died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001 at Harbor Health Care Rehabilitation Center, Lewes, Del.
Mrs. Penney was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Wyoming UM Church, Wyoming, Del., the Omega Phi Sorority, the Order of Eastern Star Minerva Chapter 50 of Cambridge and was a dedicated volunteer at Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital in Milford, Del., where she was honored as their Volunteer of the Quarter for the period ending March 2001.
Mrs. Penney was preceded in death by her husband, David A. Penney in 1991.
She is survived by two sons, David J. Penney of Milford, Del., and George A. Penney of Roanoke, Va.; a daughter, Sharon P. Thomas of Cheverly; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Wyoming United Methodist Church, 107 Broad St., Wyoming, Del. Burial will be private.

Crickette Renee Sampson
CAMBRIDGE - Crickette Renee Sampson, 17, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001 at the University of Maryland Medical Systems.
She was born Sept. 6, 1984, daughter of Cynthia Sampson and the late Robert M. Sampson.
Crickette attended the former St. Clair Elementary School, Sandy Hill Elementary, Mace's Lane Middle School and was attending Cambridge-South Dorchester High School, with the anticipated graduation year of 2002.
She was an active member of the Waugh Chapel United Methodist Church Youth Group. She served with the Junior Ushers when there was a need. She was a member of DELTA. She worked with the Waugh Summer Youth Program, often entertaining the children with her pet, K.C.
Crickette loved animals and had many pets including K.C. her hamster and a variety of tropical fish. She had dreams of owning a zoo and saving all hurt animals. She was an avid reader of the Chicken Soup genre of books and Teen magazines.
She loved her family and enjoyed her time with them.
Her survivors include her mother; three sisters: Michelle, Robin and Lauren, all of Cambridge; two brothers: Robert Nuton of Federalsburg and Timothy Darryl Sampson of Tacoma, Wash.; paternal grandparents, Robert and Clara Sampson of Cambridge; six aunts: Gloria Cephas (Donald) of Cambridge, Sarah Ann Wilson of Philadelphia, Pa., Sharon Ball (the Rev. Paul Ball) of Randallstown, Jean Pryor (Charles) of Salisbury, Cheryl Sampson of Cambridge and Melody Butler (Rodney) of Woodstock; five uncles: Villard Stevens (Fannie) and Charles Stevens (Oneida) of Cambridge, Carroll Frederick Sampson of New Carrollton, David Stevens of Salisbury and Lawrence Cordell Sampson of Crownsville.
She is also survived by three nephews, KeVaughn Sampson, Ronald Beasley and Darryl Sampson, all of Cambridge; one niece, JaQuaya Beasley of Cambridge; a godmother, B. Novella Young of Cambridge; five cousins, Jonathon, Jennifer and Aaron Ball and Joshua and Nicholas Butler; a number of great aunts and uncles and numerous second generation cousins.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Waugh Chapel United Methodist Church Building Fund.
There will be a funeral service at 11 a.m. Dec. 17 at Bethel AME Church with the Rev. Dr. William T. Wallace Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at the Bethel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Waugh Chapel UM Church for moments of reflection.
There will be no public viewing.
